Harlow was completely amazed by the castle that she was walking into. She thought that it was pretty amazing. She would have to say, it was the most amazing thing that she had seen this entire time. She looked around watching everything that she was walking past. It was a curious place, how did something this amazing get into this odd forest? She paused for a moment taking in the beauty of the place and also trying to figure out where exactly the person who was supposed to be sitting on the throne was. But that was when a booming voice startled her. She was extremely confused, she finally spotted the woman who was talking to her. The woman had questions on top of that, the woman appeared to be the queen.
She first wanted to know who she was. Harlow was pretty sure that the queen was the first person to ask that. She nodded a little to the queen before started to talk, "my name is Harlow Rowan, I was born in the human world in a fishing town. I'm now a hunter." She wasn't sure if the white queen would even know what a hunter would be but she was pretty sure that if she didn't she would ask.
She must have known what it was, she wasn't asked a question about what a hunter was or anything like that but instead she asked about her journey here. Well... That was an even more interesting question to her. "Well it was interesting to say the least..." she thought back to what happened trying to remember everything. "I talked to some trees, I ate some terrifying deserts and got married so some one that I didn't know." As those words came out of her mouth she realized how odd it was. That isn't the things that people normally did. Regardless it was her journey and there was no point on trying to make up a lie.
"My world?" She questioned back, the idea of explaining her world was an interesting idea but regardless she didn't want to just dis the queen and not answer her question. "Well, it's interesting. It's full of a lot of fighting and death. Nothing is as extravagant or interesting as it is here that is for sure. To say this least though, this has really made me appreciate the boring-ness of my world."
She was about to explain a little more but the queen seemed to wanted to ask her another question. Apparently there was a little more of an interesting question to her. 'Has she ever been hurt by a loved one'. That really was a hard question. She sure have and honestly her biggest hurt was when her father died. "Well yes." And then her next question was how and why, she cringed a little, she was extremely upset that the queen poked a little more. "Well, my father died. I know he couldn't do anything about it, but you know I'm still a little hurt, I was by myself. It wasn't intentional and there wasn't anything I could do but you know that is okay." She waited for the queens reaction but it just so happened to be another question.
"I'm afraid of losing all of my loved ones." She said simply nodding at her. She was happy that the queen didn't want her to explain all of it that time. It was a little bit of a comfort but the next question made her much more uncomfortable. She tried to come up with something as quickly as possible, but something silly. "well, once stole something then I was much younger."
And her final question was one that made her really think about it. "Oh..." She said simply thinking about it carefully before speaking. "well, I wish that I can become the best hunter that I can." She said nodding to the other woman.
The queen was gone then and all of the mirrors opened up. Well this was going to be interesting. She was exciting to see where those were going to go and what were going to happen. She started to look through the mirrors trying to figure out where she was going to go next.

They were all staring back at her, and her at them. And that was how OuO found herself occupied for probably far too long when she reached the castle, after traveling that single path and through the open gates. There were so many mirrors and so many broken but the ones that worked duplicated her up most curiosity of the hall. Mouth agape, eyes wide with wonder and her head bobbing to and fro, trying to get a good look at everything. The ghoul wanted to go get a closer look, to poke one but there was suddenly a very loud voice echoing in the room.
Stand? She was already standing, she wanted to tell the voice but it merrily came out as long confused look around. Where was it? And it was still talking, "Hello, I'm Olivia," she cut in while it was still trying to introduce itself and explain its purpose.
"Oh, you're trying to help someone?" Well, that was kind of nice, sad she had to remain as a prisoner and apparently in her own castle. All alone. So, the least she could do was answer some questions, right? OuO might not have all the answers but it was worth trying.
First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.
Oh, maybe this was where she was supposed to introduce herself. "I'm Olivia," the ghoul repeated, mirth behind her tone. She took a step, turning her head a little, changing the direction to where she was replying, "I live in Halloween and go to school at Amityville. I like it a lot and have a lot of friends. I'm a Year Two." Jazz hands! "Oh, and I'm a wight, that's why I'm so pale." Did Grief know what that was? Perhaps she should explain?
Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.
Perhaps she did, OuO guessed when the next question pressed on from herself specifically to all the fun things she did. Once again, she moved to change where her attention was diverted to. "There was a hole!" The ghoul began, waving her hands about, "And I woke up in a forest with some talking trees, one of them made me sad because it was sad but there was a happy striped tree. And there were other things in the forest like a cat who tried to have me do riddles but I didn't get them since I'm not good at them like my dad. And there was a lake too, it was pretty. Then I got chased by a biiiiig monster who tried to eat me but I got away. I wasn't able to fight it but I fought other things and while I was I found Molan! And we got a few more things and did a maze together. And then I found Andrew and while we were in the Teacup place we got married and I made a lot of rings. I also married Molan and a ghoul I didn't really know but she seemed awfully familiar." There was a pause, like she was beginning to stop. But no, just to move, "That place made me eat a lot of things, eating is weird and it made things happen like I turned pink and invisible and another tasted weird. And then I fought a lot of other things too like some really big monsters with familiar crowns. And then I found here!" Her arms shot out at her end and she spun on the ball of her foot. And now the floodgates of her mouth were open.
Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.
"Real...?" Oh, well that made sense with what Andrew had told her and this being a game. Well, alright, "I live in Halloween," now she was wondering how many times she would repeat herself, "Its a big big place and has lots of different places like woods and a place on fire I don't really want to go to and I live in a very cold place and I think there is a very dark place and probably a very wet place too. I used to live at home in the cold place but now I live at Amityville because I go to school and its very neat with a lot of creeple there and buildings and books and interesting rooms. Oh and we have a very neat pumpkin sun!" Because she rather liked the pumpkin sun.
Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?
The previous questions had been so easy to answer, specifics about her and her world but when the first very personal question was asked, OuO had to pause and think. And hum as she thought about it, "I don't think so." She began, "they usually try to protect me which makes me mad sometimes." Or maybe she was thinking too much about the physical stuff, "they do make me sad sometimes though, and Andrew used to scare me." Her gaze fell to the floor.
What are you afraid of?
"Fire." She blurted out without much hesitation, "but not as much anymore, Andrew always promised." It brought a warm smile to her lips as she looked from one of the dusty mirrors to one of the broken ones, "and being alone." A creature of community, who liked the cold elements but favored the warmth of others. (Not that she was thinking that deeply).
Tell me a secret about yourself.
The ghoul remained quiet for a moment, pursed her lips before answering, "I don't remember having any secrets." She answered honestly. "Do you need one? I can't think of any to give."
What is it that you wish for the most?
Oh, they were back to easy questions! Olivia's gaze lifted and her smile returned in full as she held out her hands as best she could, "for everyone to be my friend!" And for added benefit, "and for them all to get along." As evident that some didn't, personal experience and all.
OuO spun on her heels one last time before asking, "Do you have a wish?" She had to wonder. Being confined in such a place with one goal. But she didn't receive an answer, instead Grief told of how she seemed different and spoke of change. And of memory. So many of her adventures seemed to in some way deal with memory, OuO thought to herself. So very strange.
"I hope so too! You're rather nice." the ghoul chirped and then made her way towards the now open door.

This was a new path. An eerie path. It seemed to go on forever. Wykid had an idea to turn around and head back the way she came, but something continued to draw her farther along. Her feet wouldn't turn around. It was frustrating really, to not feel in control.
To say that the castle was welcoming would have been a lie. It was old, it smelt old. Looked long forgotten. Wykid sucked in a breath as she took it all in. What or who lived here? Or did anything live here at all? It seemed like no life had graced it in so long.
Against all the warning flags that went up in her head, she approached. Entering through the gates and into the castle.
The hallway was long. Much longer than she had expected and the ceiling so high. She turned in circles, staring upwards for a moment until she settled into walking down the hallway. Strange mirrors on all sides. Pale faces not her own staring back at her. It made her skin crawl.
Finally she reached the end and there was a single throne yet no one upon it. A kingdom with no ruler?
The booming voice made her jump. What startled her more was that it was body-less. She turned to see who or where it was coming from but no one was around. The room vacant yet it felt stifling.
Questions? About herself and her world? It was a little suspicious that it wanted to know so much right off the bat. But she shrugged lightly. She didn't have to go into too much detail if she didn't want to.
First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.
Wykid scratched at her cheek lightly. "I am nothing special. Simply a mare with a horrible grasp on her own talents. Female if you must know. Older than most but still considered young among my people." Did the room just get colder?
Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.
"Its been a strange experience for sure. So many odd things. I thought I had seen odd before but nothing like this place." Her head turned slightly as she looked about the room. "Though I have to say that this place is a bit modest compared to the rest of the world. Don't get me wrong it has its cold, sterile, loneliness. But I had expected perhaps some talking tea pots."
Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.
Well, she could have gone on and on about that topic. But might as well try to keep it short. "The world I live in is not really my world. Its a borrowed world. My home was destroyed by..." Her lips pulled tight. "I live with my mentor on an allotted piece of cold, dry dirt. Though my sister is there as well, she lives with her own. One day though, we hope to have a home of our own again."
Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?
"Yes." The response was quick. "A long time ago. They turned their back on me after all we had been through because....." Her throat grew tight. "Because of duty. They are probably dead now anyways so it doesn't matter anymore."
What are you afraid of?
"Being alone."
Tell me a secret about yourself.
It wouldn't really be a secret anymore if she told this voice. Of course, she didn't have to give a serious secret. "I love fluffy minipets. I love to brush their fur and cuddle their fluffiness all day long." Any amusement that might have come from the voice was absent. It could probably tell she wasn't being serious about it. But hey, what did it know about her?
What is it that you wish for the most?
What did she wish for? She never put much stock in wishing. If you couldn't make it happen there was no point in desiring something you could not have. "Family."
When the voice thanked her and vanished, Wykid let out a long slow breath. Had she been holding it in for that long? Turning to the now open mirrors, she picked one at random and left the throne room.
Perhaps they would meet again.

Thin with dark skin. Wykid wears the black and blue Caterpillar armor. Her mouth is covered by a mask hiding the bottom half of her face and the sleeves of her shirt are larger than normal, slightly translucent at the wrists giving a small peek at her bone arms. Its hard to tell her disposition at the time unless you are watching her body language. But even that can be a bit tricky. But for the most part she's fairly good natured.
There was almost an ominous feeling about the castle as WarQueen strode through it's halls, glancing from side to side at the mirrors, unruffled by the pale faces that stared back at her. She had seen worse. This she reminded herself over and over while faced with strange worlds and stranger circumstances. She had seen, and experienced, so much worse then this.
The hallway began to darken as she made her way along, and it seemed that more and more of the mirrors were cracked, empty and black. She ignored them now, however. She ignored them, and continued to move on, further and further, until she reached the end.
And then a booming voice, one that did nothing to make her cringe or flinch away. It was, after all, only a voice. She did not feel that it could harm her. They were nearing the end of their journey, she felt, and this was just one more obstacle to pass before it was all over.
Questions. She had but to answer a few questions. That was fine with her. After all, she had very little that she felt she needed to hide.
First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.
"I am Shaheen. Elder Cheiftain of the War Clan. A horseman of the apocalypse" She stopped, seemingly finished with that particular question and awaiting the next.
It wasn't enough, however. She was prompted to say more. The room began to grow cold, and a shiver went down her spine, that ominous feel coming back in full force.
"I was once a warrior of my people and was raised to chieftain at a relatively young age for our kind. My parents ruled my life from the time I was born until the island we lived on was shattered and sent sinking into the ocean by hunters. I now live in what is called the Lost Clans Sanctuary, near a school called Amityville Academy. I despise it, but even more I despise the existence: of hunters, and wish to exterminate them all." There was a fire in her voice, a burning passion to go with the words, to give them ultimate truth.
She said no more, and another question was asked.
Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.
"It was quite eventful, I suppose, and yet not at the same time. My mission was only to get to the end, not to play silly games. I began with the forest, finishing many of the tasks set out to me there. In a strange twist for one of my kind, who thrive on battle, I chose to spend more time outside of the...bosses and dungeons...." She still struggled with the game terminology for certain things. "And instead continued to search for a way to continue on. There was a glitched forest as well, and a chance to speak with ALICE. I created a guild with my clan mates and friends, spent time in the taverns, and got married to the man that I had already chosen as a partner for life outside of the game. I sampled foods that had strange side effects, and then I came here. I do hope to be able to meet with the Red Queen soon...." Her voice trailed off, and she frowned to herself, before the next question snapped her back to attention.
Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.
"Currently my real body occupies a world that I do not wish to dwell in. The Lost Clans Sanctuary, that I spoke of earlier, is but a temporary home for us. We have set up camp there, with a plots of land to put our homes. Some live in tents, others in huts or small houses. It is located in the world of Halloween, but I long for the return of the Isles. I long for a better life where we are no longer fed charitable scraps from Halloweeen's occupants. It is no respectable life for any horseman to lead." She wasn't sure if that was enough information to give, but as she did not wish to go into greater detail on the world of Halloween itself, she left it at that. It just was not where she wished to call her home.
Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?
WarQueen paused for a moment at this question, a hesitation as she opened her mouth to speak, her head tilting slightly as she considered, and then begun with new words springing to mind.
"There is only one that I have ever felt that I truly loved, and physically, yes, I would say that he has hurt me many times, but not with any ill intent. We often fight, we often spar to test and prove each others strengths. We both carry the scars of each others hands. If you do not mean physically, however then...No, no I would not say he has ever hurt me, and I do not believe that he ever would. I might bruise, but I do not become hurt so easily." She felt that his answer was sufficient enough, and wished to move on. It made her feel slightly uncomfortable to speak of love, an emotion that was yet quite new to her.
What are you afraid of?
This question took her aback slightly, and she answered without hesitation, a cool steeliness in her voice. "Nothing." But that was a lie, and it was as if the voice knew. After all, had she not just recently had a nightmare that had frightened her more then anything? The room began to grow cold again.
"Fine, then. I fear becoming lost in obscurity and anonymity. I fear that I will never be known for anything of my accomplishments. I fear that nobody will ever know my name." Done. She had crossed her arms over her chest, her face becoming stony as she awaited more questioning.
Tell me a secret about yourself.
A secret? What was she supposed to say? There was nothing about her really that somebody didn't already know. It took her some time to think her way through it before she responded.
"I...I never actually wanted to become a chieftain. I only did what was needed to become promoted to that position because I had thought that, at last, it would be enough for them. My parents. It wasn't." She wasn't sure that was really a secret at all, though she was sure she had never actually said it out loud to anybody, she was sure there were many who suspected....
The next question was perhaps the easiest for her to answer.
What is it that you wish for the most?
"For power. I wish to defeat Death, to restore the clans to their former glory, and to rule, and in that rule, for the apocalypse to finally take place, as it should have years ago." A smile had made it's way across her face, an excited gleam in her eye.
"That is what I wish."
The questions had come to an end. The voice spoke to her again, before mirrors on either side began to open, leading her to different areas.
She chose one, and moved on.

L.O.G Walks up the path, having missed out on the Tea Party and yet feeling like her quests are leading her here to the castle she sees in the distance. Her path leads her to an odd set of gates, the elaborate gates very slowly open as she approaches as if to draw out the suspense. As she enters the infinite hallway beyonf she realizes that the hall is filled with mirrors on both sides, and all the mirrors seemingly have pale unfamiliar faces looking out at her within. However some of the mirrors are cracked, empty and black and the further down the hallway she walks the darker it seems until she finally reaches the throne room. This room, despite the throne though seems strangely empty, leaving her alone with the mirrors.
"How.. curious.. I wonder why it is so empty.." She murmurs to herself before an odd wispy brittle voice commands her to stand.
"stand, visitor, and listen. I cannot be freed so I am unafraid for I am [ Grief ] and a container. I exist to ease the pain of destruction. I will not move until this purpose is completed." the voice now reminding her of the sound of thousands of icicles bristling before a snowstorm, commands.
Growling slightly at the command but never the less amused slightly she brings herself to stand before the throne. "I am not afraid of something not fully here, now what do you want?" She says to the voice she is sure is the white queen. Wondering if there is some way to defeat her in her current form.
"Now, visitor, you cannot defeat nor free me. You may explore my castle if you wish, but I have a few questions. I have very little visitors as a prisoner. Answer my questions, tell me a story, tell me about your world, and I will give you something in return. May it serve you well if the fates misalign and I am freed one day." She says as L.O.G. growls again. Still, if answering this prisoner queen allows herself to explore then why not indulge her just a little.
"First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self."
Blinking at the odd question L.O.G. sighs. It really is not that important in her mind to tell an NPC about herself, still, if it gets this odd queen to leave her alone she would answer. "Well, I am a Demon, a demon of Greed to be precise. I am attending my fist year of schooling and I believe I am almost ready to go onto my second year. I also have a thing for fluffy items, such as tails or animals." She says trying to be a bit vague but still give the answers that the woman? is looking for.
"Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey. Explain what happened on your quest here! "
Cocking her head to one side L.O.G. sighs again before beginning her explanation. "I found myself lost in a strange forest and talking with trees of all things and then I got a chance to find treasure among a lily pad garden. In the garden I had to eat mushrooms to change sizes to get through to the treasure. Then I found myself on the path to your castle and came here. I must say you have an odd entryway." she tells her nonchalantly as she awaits the next question.
"Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy."
Nodding slightly L.O.G. complies with another question, wondering if the prisoner queen will be finished with her questioning soon. "Well, I am a demon so I live in Amityville when I am not living in my Dorm at school. However, from what I know we get our powers from fear, the fear the humans expel from the human world. I know that I myself love being a demon, I am usually treated with respect and that my love of fluffy things is considered a disgrace because we as demons are not to like 'lesser creatures'. I can't help it though, then there is the fact that as a demon of greed I love to hoard, my personal vice in this is clothes. I can never have enough really. I also love shiny things and my minipets are quite helpful in helping me get things as well. Minipets are small creatures that inhabit Amityville they make great pets. I do not really care about much besides school at the moment though so I am afraid I cannot give you much more than that off the top of my head." she tells her before sighing. That had taken a lot of work to say really and she hoped that this questioning would be over soon.
"Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?"
"Uh yeah.." She mutters and when the queen asks how and when she shutters slightly. "Well, my parents when they refused to accept my love of fluffy things really. It really hurt that they could not accept me for who I am. That was right before they sent me to school." She answers annoyed at the question. She really did not like thinking about it.
"What are you afraid of?"
L.O.G blinks, she cannot say she did not see that one coming still she almost does not answer the queen. "Well.. I guess I would have to say losing my wealth. I am a greed demon after all an being poor terrifies me because I would not know what to do with myself." She tells her after a long moment of thinking about the least harmful fear she could give. After all, it wasn't as if this.. prisoner, could make her poor.. right?
"Tell me a secret about yourself."
She sighs at this. She had thought the last one would be the hardest but then again she had been wrong before. "I guess it is that I sometimes wonder what It would be like if I were a creature instead of a demon." she sneers at the voice in annoyance. Not that she cares if this queen knew per say, it was more that if her parents found out they would be furious.
"What is it that you wish for the most?"
When she asks this L.O.G. almost laughs. This one is easy for her. It had been her wish since she left home to go to school after all. "I wish for friends that will accept me for being true to myself, no matter how strange I may turn out to be." She told her with determination.
"It is strange." the White Queen finally responds, "You are different, and so are your memories. I feel as if something may, perhaps change. Thank you for your story. I hope we do not meet again."
The voice disappears and one of the many broken mirrors open up, each one leading to a different area.

The lack of color bothered him. The last time killsteal had been in an area this desturated, it had been that odd, mal-aligned area. This place seemed more peaceable, though--arguably worse in comparison. He scorned the scenery as he approached large white gates, wondering if this truly was the path he was meant to be taking. Shouldn't things be more . . . red, for instance? Ah well.
He was reminded vaguely of his time in the Tear as he stalked through the hall of mirrors, giving no discolored face a chance at his attention. Perhaps something would require him to further reflect on his existence and past as usual; that seemed to be a running theme lately, dredging up the past as if it still mattered now.
In the throne room he had to squint to determine the walls from the actual throne itself. "Stand," said a grave voice that seemed to make the room grow palpably colder.
Ah yes, here we were. killsteal's fingers twitched.
"First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self."
"Shikoba Len of the superior War Clan," he snitted, feeling it grow even colder. But his bravado remained: his title ought to be enough. This was the thing he was going to help destroy, after all.
"Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey." "It hardly matters." He shrugged. "I followed the designed path according to your . . . whatever the ******** title goes here. A-I or whatever. Everyone did the same I'm sure. Trees, tea, and ******** glitch zones."
"Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy."
killsteal grumbled. "Our world is made of Fear and its many manifestations. We are the very definition of human fears, a higher plane of beings than the lesser pets that scuttle in Halloween. There are those who seek to stop us, but they will fall in time."
"Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?" "Please." killsteal gave a wry look. "Betrayal isn't all that uncommon. You do not grow up without experiencing a little pain."
"What are you afraid of?" "Getting stuck here and having to listen to you probe me for the rest of eternity," he drawled. The dead queen walking had no business snooping into his affairs.
"Tell me a secret about yourself." "I fantasize about eating humans and hunters more than is considered decent. Other days, I consider the benefits of cannibalizing other Fear beings who prove too useless." It was hard to tell whether the gryphon was still being sarcastic or deadly serious. He licked his lips at the thought.
"What is it that you wish for the most?" "Simple." killsteal crossed his arms now that he was sure he woudlnot be attacked. "The Apocalypse is one, naturally. Those that seek to stop our eventual dominion of the worlds will be enslaved or eviscerated depending on how I happen to be feeling at the time. The Apocalypse will come, queen," he stated bluntly, feeling free-er to speak about it than he ever had previously. "Neither you, nor the white coats, nor the pesky Halloweeners, can stop us.
"But more than that?" His lip parted into a leering grin. "I will be a king myself one day. That is no wish, but a fact."
Whether the White Queen cared or not, she at least seemed satisfied by his answers. Different. It was as good a compliment as any. She mentioned change, which was convenient--at least he didn't have to spell that out.
"I hope we do not meet again."
Too bad, killsteal thought as he made his way to the portal of a mirror.

KittyClaws33 wandered about and then, in the break through of the trees, was a magnificent castle.
The castle was white as snow with similar flags blowing in the cold breeze, the trees around the castle was bare and dead.
As drawn to it, KittyClaws33 entered the castle, hesitantly and with her guard up, in case she would have to fight, defend or flee.
As she entered the main foyer she felt a wave of lament wash over her, giving her an icy chill. As she looked around, she can see her own reflection looking back at her, several of them as she realized the whole foyer was a hallway, lined with mirrors.
As she continued to walk down the hallway it got colder and darker and at the end of the hallway was a single throne, unoccupied.
And then a single voice boomed out and knocked KittyClaws33's feet right from under her. The cold intensified as she found herself feeling like she was being frozen over...with her own emotions.

First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.
"My name is Hecate," she started by introducing herself. "I'm a grim reaper from a long line of grim reaper family. I'm one of the many daughters in the household but I am the main daughter to be in line as the head of the family."
KittyClaws33 looked down. "Which I don't want. I'm not interested in the family or being the head of the family. I just want to be me and live in happiness."
She paused and realized that she kinda got of track, she scrambled to make up for the mistake. "Uh um...my likes are the interest in the human world, rabbits, flowers, music, sweet thing, books...and my big brother. My dislikes are rap music, dirt, dogs, and people taking my stuff with out asking."
She sighed and hoped she answered the question to the best of her abilites.
Quote:
Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.
KittyClaws33 took a deep breath and answered. "It's like a dream. I ended up here through a rabbit hole and fought monsters, met a few people, and had lots of fun exploring this world."
KittyClaws33 then looked up with a sad expression on her face before she realized that she might look disrespectful and looked right. "This journey here taught me a lot about myself that I didn't even know I kept locked inside me."
KittyClaws33 didn't want to admit how she felt about that as the queen spoke again.
Quote:
Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.
KittyClaws33 looked down as she tries to explain the best of her abilities about the world she lived in. "It is a world full of monsters, some that are like me and others that are not. They are all different and we live to gather fear. The school....we are taught to the best of our abilities to master that fear and use it."
Quote:
Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?
KittyClaws33's expression turned into one of pain as she gripped her forearm and squeezed. "Yes."
Quote:
How and when?
The queen asked her and she squeezed harder. "It was indirectly," tears formed in her eyes but never spilled over. "I was selfish and wanted my big brother's love to myself and I drove the love of my brother's life away. I've never seen him so sad before. After that, he was never the same."
Quote:
What are you afraid of?
"I-" she hesitated and her eyes widen and the tears spilled over and froze "I'm afraid of losing my brother. I'm afraid of going back to being alone now that I know what happiness is."
She squeezed her eyes shut and her chest tighten as she admitted the pain in her heart.
Quote:
Tell me a secret about yourself.
Anger and malice washed over KittyClaws33, washing away all the pain. She remembered the side quest of the Caterpillar, the one with the mirror image of herself that she had to fight. "My secret..." she paused, "my secret is that I secretly want to chain down my brother and everyone I care about, despite how they feel. I would kill anyone who gets in my way."
KittyClaws33 slumped her shoulders and didn't realized that she was so tensed. "It is a secret that I hate."
Quote:
What is it that you wish for the most?
KittyClaws33 looked at the throne with tired eyes as she answers, what she hoped, was the last question. "I want to be independent and strong. I don't want my secret to become a real and in order for me to do that, I don't want to heavily rely on others. I....I want to be able to help them too, as a thank you fr helping me."
KittyClaws33 was tired as she felt like she had laid her heart out bare.
Quote:
"It is strange." the White Queen finally responds, "You are different, and so are your memories. I feel as if something may, perhaps change. Thank you for your story. I hope we do not meet again."
The voice disappears and one of the many broken mirrors open up, each one leading to a different area.
And with that, KittyClaws33 found herself going to the nearest mirror, slumped down in front of it, and passed out.
Too tired to explore right now....maybe tomorrow.

His fingers were still tacky with vanilla ice cream when the world changed around him, colors and light replaced by only the latter. He had quite enjoyed the murky strangeness of Tulgey Woods and had tolerated that damned tea party for the food, but this place was silent and stark on a level that almost made his skin crawl. He hadn't thought of that dead space Red had sent him to for ages before he had wound up in Wonderland, but he had been compelled to revisit that memory twice since he had arrived here and he hadn't liked either trip.
Punchy lurched forward down the hall, anxious to move on. Not even the weird mirror faces slowed him down. Honestly, he'd seen stranger things in the demon dorm toilets. The throne at the end, though. That was odd. It grew even more so when it began to speak. She. When she began to speak.
Grief told him of her status as a prisoner and offered him free rein of the castle in exchange for answers. Stories. He debated refusing her demands, but ultimately concluded that his was his damn dream, jackdammit, and what happened in his dreams stayed in his dreams... most of the time. He did try to find an exit before he agreed, but there was no way out that he could see. He'd just have to be careful. Only reveal things he didn't mind some disembodied voice knowing.
"Yeah, sure. I'll answer. Hit me."
He felt her assent, almost as if he'd seen someone nod, then...
First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.
Punchy looked around again to make sure that no one was eavesdropping. He crossed his arms.
"I'm a demon an' I go t'Amityville. In Halloween." When nothing happened, he snapped, "Next."
They remained at an impasse for a time. Punchy actually turned to leave, or at least get as far away from the throne as he could, but on his way he saw the white fog of his own sigh and noticed just how frosty it had gotten in the room.
"Pissed?" he asked, smirking. "Fine. What else. I'm a Hob, and when I graduate I'm gonna go into Trick 'er Treatin'. My uncle's cool. He's a demon too. We're all demons. Wrath. Prissy bitches. Not me. Or Tel." Punchy frowned, pressing his lips together momentarily. "Whatever." He had very deliberately avoided mentioning his ghoulfriend, and he seemed to get away with the omission for now. He felt Grief's mental nod again and they moved on.
Next, visitor, I want to hear about your journey.
Easy.
"I kinda... woke up I guess... an' picked this sweet-a** outfit an' a name an' then I was in a forest. Fought a few things, talked to a couple trees, then it all went t's**t. Twitchin' and crap. Ended up... on a giant table? I guess? Never did figure out what was up with that place. Fought some more crap, came here." He felt a twinge of curiosity at his mention of the Tulgey Woods glitch, but Grief didn't pry.
Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real body occupies.
"Halloween's... halloween." Punchy shrugged. What else was there to say? "We got monsters, ghosts, undead, reapers... we collect FEAR an' we try t'stay alive." His perpetually sour expression was lightened by a brief grin. "I can't wait t'scare fer real. An' get humans mad. I only did a little a'that in school, but..." He froze up again, realizing he might have said too much. "Should be fun."
Her next question came quickly, as soon as he had stopped speaking, in fact.
Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?
Punchy's brows furrowed and he growled, "None a' yer business."
Who was it? When?
How.
"How'm I gonna ******** ya? I'll show..."
Tell me.
He lowered his arms and clenched his fists, but there was nothing to hit. "Duerre was her name."
Yes. And?
"It was a long time ago. Almost four years. She lied t'me about... somethin' important. Our future. She lied an' I was... hurt. I don't love her anymore. But that doesn't mean I wanna talk 'bout her with you."
What are you afraid of?
"Issat a new question? 'Cause I'm not..."
What are you afraid of?
"Disappearin'." He answered immediately, thinking of that place again. "Bein' able t'see people who can't see me. Not bein' able to touch 'em or talk to 'em."
Another mental nod.
Tell me a secret about yourself.
"Yer a real piece of work." He crossed his arms again. "I dunno. I... hate markin'. An' I think demons're pretty s**t at everythin'. Whiny, entitled assholes." He sighed. "That's it. What else?"
What is it that you wish for the most?
"I... wanna live. I wanna do my job... get humans mad an' scared without other humans wavin' dead kids in my face or ********' horsemen enlistin' me in an army without askin'. Things were simpler before I knew 'bout any of 'em."
Punchy swallowed, a small but noticeable weight lifted from him. These were not the sorts of things he discussed with anyone, not even Levi. Maybe there was a reason to start.
It is strange. You are different, and so are your memories. I feel as if something may, perhaps change. Thank you for your story. I hope we do not meet again.
The mirrors opened. He was free to go.

First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.
"... My real self?" She glanced down at her claws, making herself remember who she was again. She had lost herself so well in this Wonderland that even with her memories intact it was hard to draw them back together. Did that mean that she wanted to be lost?
No, because that wasn't the truth. Several months ago, maybe, but she had come to terms with herself after being drawn into the grey space and now... Well, now she was starting to accept who she was, what she was.
"My name is Aldara. I'm blue there too; the color, at least, not the emotion. I left my sadness behind, or learned to embrace it... I'm not entirely sure which of the two it was, but I'm happy now. It's hard being a happy harpy." She managed a soft smirk that broadened into the slightest of grins after a moment.
"I'm a monster, and there's no changing that. I am beautiful in my own way and I don't need to hide who or what I am to be so. I don't need this facade, but I am enjoying it while I'm here."
Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.
"My journey?" She paused briefly, brow furrowing slightly as she thought about her 'journey' thus far. "I doubt that my journey is as exciting as the journey of others, so I hope that I don't bore you. I... I'm afraid I've spent more time exploring on my own than adventuring with the others... But there was the Jabberwock, so I suppose that counts for something... Right?"
Her brow lofted slightly as she waited for a sign to either pause or continue. When she received neither she simply went on by her own choice, recounting the tale of her great escape from the Jabberwock. She found herself continuing on even after that, detailing how relieved she had been to escape and even noting briefly on her trip to the Mad Tea Party and her greater disappointment in realizing that the invisibility trick had been just that, a trick.
Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.
From this world she was drawn back to the other with that question, brow furrowing deeply as she tried to gather her thoughts again. Was it really a necessary question to ask? How much did this queen who was not her queen really need to know?
"I'm in school. I live there with a bunch of others; dormitories, they're called. Recently we sort of banded together, picked a set of colors (that I'm not too fond of) and a mascot. We attend that school to learn how to embrace ourselves and make proper use of our Fear."
Another pause before she could ramble to much, turning thoughtful as she spoke more to herself than the White Queen. "I... I used to hate it... But now? Now I can see that Amityville really is where I belong and I don't think I'll be going back home again; not if I don't have to, at least. Halloween is home."
Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?
"I..." She felt a flash of pain, thoughts drifting just beyond her reach. "I don't know... Sometimes I don't think I know what 'love' means anymore."
Why not?
"I'm sorry, your majesty, I just... Can't remember. Not all of it, at least. I would assume that I have been, though. Who hasn't been?" There was also that 'love' meant she still cared for them. She had been hurt by a number of people that she used to love foolishly, putting her trust in them as a child without reason or the ability to know better.
What are you afraid of?
"What kind of question is that?" A bit of fire returned to her eyes and she bristled, her tiny feathered wings twittering with irritation. The room grew cold around her as she protested, the chilling feeling causing her temper to be slightly subdued.
"Maybe... I'm afraid of someone exploiting my fears." She murmured, voice low. Dreams could easily become nightmares.
Tell me a secret about yourself.
"... I stole one of Pachua's feathers. I... Think he was going to give me one eventually, maybe, but I found it and instead of asking I just... Took it. I should tell him, or give it back, but it's so pretty... And I like him. Sort of. It. I like it. It's mine and he's not getting it back."
What is it that you wish for the most?
"Not a feather, that's for certain... My own jewelry stand, maybe?" Her brow lofted slightly. "Or, if we're going for something unobtainable... Safety for those that I care about. I want us to all make it back again, wake up safe again."

[ ENTERING ]
Down the single path Shad0ws_Suck did travel, pausing only to inspect a particularly interesting bit of foliage from time to time. Since he was in Wonderland, he might as well take the time to inspect things a bit - which was why he noticed the gleaming length of white fence almost the moment that it came into his view. "Whoah...how pretty." He went further along the path, along the fence until he came upon the ornate gate, which sloooowly opened for him as though beckoning his entrance. Shad smoothed the fluffy boa hanging from around his neck nervously, but then stepped forward; each time he had come across something in Wonderland that needed dealing with, he'd done it. Sometimes it hadn't been overly pleasant, but he'd always gotten out of the scrape(s) alive.
Inside was a massive, gleaming white hallway with mirrors on either side; mirrors that reflected not each other or the room to infinity, but rather pale, unfamiliar faces. Some of the mirrors were even creepier, being black, cracked and clearly broken...Shad0ws_Suck shuddered as he slowly made his way towards the end of the hall, noticing that as he moved the light grew dimmer and dimmer. This place, for all it's gleaming, pristine beauty, reminded him of graves: cold, uncaring and silent as death.
It was the cracked, empty ones that bothered him. Why were they blackened like that? Did he really want to know?
At the end was a throne; the White Queen's throne, unless he missed his mark completely. Even though he was sort of expecting to be addressed - and not by any of those he'd seen walking the same path as he - when the booming, icy voice commanded him he jumped and then cringed into himself. At least the White Queen was kind enough to say she wouldn't hurt him as long as he told her a story, answered a few questions...it seemed a small enough price to pay, so he agreed.
"First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self."
"My name is Andrew Miller, I'm a human guy and I have an older brother named Jordan that I care for more than I do myself. He's amazing. I'm pretty average all around I guess, but people have always commented on my eyes being kind of weird-pretty. Not that you can see them here or anything." He looked down at himself, the White Rabbit Class costume, and then shrugged a little bit. "Um, I've got kind of honey colored hair...I like sports and scary movies, even though they're stupid and usually not scary, I like them for the comedy parts. Oh, and um, I've always been able to see shadows moving...I don't know if that's a thing here or not - I haven't seen any, but...that doesn't mean anything. This is Wonderland and it's weird."
"Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey."
"I think it started with a pair of dreams...and falling down a rabbit hole. After that, I found myself in Tugley Woods..." Shad0ws_suck explained all about his trials and tribulations within Wonderland, about the weird, massive foods that were delicious but did crazy things to a person and finally ended with his entry into the Castle. All in all, his recital was fairly short but contained all pertinent information, which seemed to please the White Queen - at least, he thought it must, since she didn't do anything magical to him.
"Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy."
He actually smiled at this question, "Oh, it's a weird place to live, not as weird as Wonderland is, but it's odd all on it's own. We have a lot of really beautiful places there too...I live-" Here he faltered as his memories were kind of wonky, but eventually he settled back in. "Uh, I live on a tree-lined street in suburbia with my Aunt Tia and Jordan. It's a really pretty house, two stories with a basement that I despise. Our street is great for setting up slip-n-slides and lawn sprinklers to play in during the summer time."
"Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?"
"Yeah...but they didn't mean to." Shad0ws_Suck shuffled his feet and unconsciously reached up to fiddle with his fluffy boa once more; it was a hard question with a harder answer and that just made him upset. "I mean, it's not as though my parents meant to die and leave me and Jordan behind. I'm sure if they had any say in the matter, they would have stayed...so while it hurt us when they died, it wasn't done with malice." He sighed a little, shaking his head, "There are a lot of times in a person's life where someone they love is going to cause them pain...hopefully it's not done on purpose, but it's going to happen. You just have to try to keep going."
"What are you afraid of?"
"Those weird shadow-things. They scared the hell out of me for years and I'm still scared of them, just...in a more conscious manner. Oh, and losing Jordan. But I think that's because he's my big brother and one of the only family members I've still got."
"Tell me a secret about yourself."
Ouch. He should have figured there would be harder questions, especially because they had seemed to be getting more and more personal. "Um...well...once I took broke Tia's favorite figurine - a really expensive antique thing - and tried gluing it together. When that didn't work, I found a knock off...and aged it so it looked the same. Tia never found out."
"What is it that you wish for the most?"
"The power to protect my loved ones." His answer was short, but that was pretty much all that needed to be said - she could be upset with him if she wanted...but that was the beginning and end of it.
"It is strange." the White Queen finally responds, "You are different, and so are your memories. I feel as if something may, perhaps change. Thank you for your story. I hope we do not meet again."
And then the voice was gone and some of the broken mirrors opened up; Shad figured that each one would take him to a different location within the White Queen's Castle, should he explore them.

Muscular, tall and with warmly tanned skin, honey-coloured hair and striking woflish eyes in blue, Shad0ws_Suck wears the "White" Rabbit Garb, but in a flat grey, bright red and stark white. Quick to offer aid, he often looks and seems as though he's searching for something or someone...even if he doesn't quite know whom or what that is!
Harebrained was a little bashful at first--maybe even unsure of herself. She'd never been in a situation where she had to converse with someone she couldn't plainly see. But whoever it was didn't seem unkind--just wanting in socialization. Couldn't be that bad, right? Well, then...
"I'm, err~..." she began awkwardly, fiddling with the hem of her skirt, "I'm a witch. A hare witch, to be precise. Well, a gwiddon, to be even more precise," she tacked on with a flutter of a laugh, but stemmed it with embarrassment. "I come from a whole family of 'em--witches like me, I mean," she explained. "They found me, so I grew up with them." She paused, toddling on her heels in thought. "I go to a school--a really nice school for people where I come from. I'm learning all about how to be, err...a good...witch." What more could she say about her true self? She was drawing a blank. Nerves didn't usually get the better of her, but she was botching this up bad. Thankfully, the voice moved on to a new question.
Her journey? Ugh, where to begin. Oh, at the beginning, of course. Blimey, she really was botching it up. "Well, when I first got here, I landed right at the entrance of some place called Tulgey Woods. I had to find some trees for a signpost. Some of 'em were big, some of 'em had stripes, err...some of 'em even laughed!" she grinned at the memory. "Then I met a creature who called itself a Cheshire cat, and I had to have a riddle fight with him. It was pretty epic," she gestured enthusiastically, then her face contorted with displeasure as she said, "Oh, I was also chased by this massive, barmy monster, but I outran 'im. Of course. Well, I nearly had an end game, but I was all right in the end. After that, I met this rude caterpillar who could smoke, and somehow ended up at this mad tea party. But the tea party was so grand because I got to swim in this mountainous honey tart, and it turned me into a hare," she drabbled rapidly, but never seemed to run out of breath. "And, well...that is...how I ended up here!"
This wasn't so bad. If the owner of this booming voice was this curious, she didn't mind explaining things at all. What was worse was trying to talk to someone who wasn't interested at all. But this wasn't bad--not even half.
"My world?" she echoed, staring at the throne. "My world is called Halloween. There're monsters, ghosts, reapers, demons...err...zombies and...lots of different types of people who can do lots of different types of things, really. I'm still learning about a lot of things since I was a wee bit sheltered, but I've gotten the hang of things well enough. Especially thanks to Amityville. Oh, Amityville is the school I mentioned, the...well, anyways, so, Amityville is a school for all the people I've just described, and it's bleeding amazing. It's kind of an adventure just exploring that place, really!" Oh, was she rambling? Maybe a little. Or maybe not at all. Before she could continue (or decided whether or not to), the voice asked yet another question--a question that surprised Harebrained at first.
"Ehhh..." she started, eyes wavering across the floor in thought, "I suppose...?"
How and when?
Oh, blimey...
"Well...I guess one time...I spillt some cream--when I was a little kid," she explained, trying to act uncaring, but not entirely succeeding, "and one of my mothers really scolded me--really gave me an earful. And errr...basically said she wished...she'd..." Harebrained rocked on her heels with a half-smile, "wished she'd never agreed to take me in." The atmosphere of the room remained constant, and the voice then asked its next question. She didn't want to answer at first, but as the room's temperature decreased and her throat felt tight, she answered.
"I'm afraid that...all of my mothers feel that way. That they never really...wanted me. Maybe now they do, or maybe some of them, but...that maybe they didn't used to...or maybe some of them still don't," she relayed, eyes occupied away from the throne. At the voice's next question, she looked back to its source and shrugged hopelessly, saying, "That was my secret, really...is my secret. You know it now, I guess."
What is it that you wish for most?
Harebrained sighed heavily and looked at the expansive ceiling. "Just...to be...loved, really," she confessed, "just to really be...loved." A smile stole its way across her mouth and she rubbed the bridge of her blushing nose in embarrassment.
"It is strange." the White Queen finally responds, "You are different, and so are your memories. I feel as if something may, perhaps change. Thank you for your story. I hope we do not meet again."
The voice disappears and one of the many broken mirrors open up, each one leading to a different area.
Harebrained gazed at each of the mirrors. With a strange, newfound courage, she took a breath and approached them...

Pristine... clean... beauty. All those words ran through the caterpillar's mind as he strode along slowly. How wondrous. The path outside the castle was immaculate, every stone carefully set in it's place as he moved found himself moving along.
Even as he watched the faces in mirrors that peered at him awkwardly as he walked along. He tried to avoid noticing the empty mirrors, broken, any life drained from them in their darkened state. It was a harsh reality against the perfection that the rest of this place seemed to embody. Why such things remained he couldn't know even as he strode along. The faint rustle of his cape against the bleached white of the floors kept him little company as he moved along in a rather hauntingly quiet castle. So strange... peculiar. What kind of place was this now?
Thankfully, there was but a single path to follow as he found himself moving through the castle. A single, lone trail to the center. To lead to all that was most important for the denizens of this castle, and the goal they all were searching for in this weird game. Sure, it was fun, but there had to be a point. That point was found, beheld for the first time, as he reached the end of the hallway. There stood the queen. A pristine, beautiful thing to even rival this castle. He'd never met one before and... frankly he wasn't quite sure how to behave? Wasn't she the enemy? Part of the other faction? ...were the enemies? Then came her command, merely to stand, even as he drew closer. To stand and listen... to a tale perhaps? He was curious, but still.. wasn't she supposed to be scary?
She didn't really remind him of that. Huh... well... should he really keep dwelling on it?
Either way, he listened as she spoke, nodding. "Then... you're kind." She helped to ease what came with hurt. Even if it wasn't all good, she desired the small peace that could come with it perhaps? Though her story was a bit sad, it was understandable she wanted to know of someone else. "I'll answer what I can?"
The first question made him pause, toying with his cape. "Akakios. I'm... they say I'm a cerberus. I don't remember much. I'm a student?" He really didn't know much else to offer.
Thankfully, the next question he could answer. "I fell down a hole! To a land where trees speak, and sometimes attack! I had to run from a beast that wanted to eat me, because it ate me once! But because this world is kind I had a second chance! And... then I fought with comrades, and found a place with cakes EVERYWHERE! It was delicious! And then... then I came here? To see you?"
"I only know about the school. But it's fun. We have exams, and dormitories, and friends! It's called Halloween and we're... scary? And there are hunters! I know some! And..." He shook his head. He didn't know enough to continue.
He shook his head. "No..." Paused at her next question. "I can't remember anything long enough ago." It wasn't a fun answer to admit.
"That... I did something bad once. I sometime think I remember things... sometimes hear screams. But... I don't know. I don't want to hurt anyone." He was wringing his hands at this point.
"Ah... I..." He shook his head. "Ah but... maybe... I saw a door once. A very dark... scary one. And a bright blue one. A voice told me I could only go to the blue one, so I did?" Did that count?
He froze at the last question, looking down. "That... things can be happy? Like they are in the real world now? But here isn't bad either!" He smiled at that, nodding.
Then she spoke, seeming to muse over his words. He didn't know what to think of her cryptic message, but waved her off. What did she mean by changing things?

It was getting darker and darker, but the boil didn't care at all.
A throne?
The throne reminded him of that one inside his illusion, so he got closer and was stopped by a voice, as frozen as like a blizzard.
"Visitor, me?" He pointed to himself, the voice asked for a few questions to be answered before she allowed him to explore her castle. "Sounds fair, go ahead." He shrugged.
First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self.
"Me? Late greeting, Madam. I am AJ, the wingless amphisbaena, As a halloween creature, of course I live in the Halloween World. I enjoy being a student in the Amityville Academy. I love sparring and baking. Our species was well-known with a sentiment second head. That's him." He petted the Head.
Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey.
"Journey? I prefer to call it adventure. It was fun to be in such a different world, I did quests and wandered around, kills creatures here and there. The next zone opened up when I leveled up to certain level, it was a place full of foods, if not the foods seem to have some weird effects, I guess I will stay longer and have a detailed examination."
Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy.
"I was living in a big city surrounded by a desert, although we are dragon beings, we live as this human-like form inside it. It was a place full of technologies, just like the human world depicted in the books. I guess nothing more." He shrugged, not seeming very interested in talking about it further.
Have you ever been hurt by someone you love? "Hurt? Are you kidding? Yes at the beginning but not anymore." How and when? "I do remember the pains at that time. Ohhh my stupid parents obviously, but I don't care anymore. They put all their attention on my sister, but so what? I was too stupid to wanting to get their concern and just forced myself into the dead end. I already given up now." He grinned. "No more pain from me." He paused. "Wait, maybe I do feel a bit sad when she left, but I couldn't remember who she was." He tapped his temple lightly.
What are you afraid of?
"Um. A meaningless death and hurting the one I loved? I want my death to be like after an excited and tough battle, one that I can find my proof of existence. And - I have a problem with blood, blood got me excited and bring me back to the old violent me, I can't guarantee if I hurt people." He paused, raised an eyebrow as he recalled in that dream, people were caged and hanged up.
Tell me a secret about yourself.
"I don't keep secret.....that's a bit hard....does crying count?" He asked, one shoes stepping the ground in a regular beat. "When I was a boil, one time, I got a severe fever because it was raining. I knocked out all my opponents but got wounds all over my body. When I was home, I felt feeble and sick, but there was no one home. On the table, there was an note and several notes. It was about my parents went to attend my sister's performance show and those money was for me to buy my dinner. On that day, I lost all my hopes on them, curled up on the sofa while feeling so nauseous. I thought I would be died alone, so I cried out silently. My heart was sunken into a bottomless ocean until I met her." He scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed to talk about it.
What is it that you wish for the most?
"What I wish for? I don't know honestly, I am still seeking about it. Maybe one day, one day I will know."

This place was cool. Elaborate, clean, white. Partridge picked up his pace, moving quickly as he could into the castle, past the beautiful gates. Past the mirrors, where he glanced this way and that at the not-his-reflections. He was ready for a fight. A battle. Probably a knock-out, blow-out thing. This was the White Queen's HQ after all. But he met no guards, no opponents. Not even the creepy stuff in the mirrors came out at him. He kept going... until he found the empty throne. He frowned, peering around the grand hall curious if he'd missed something. A turn or... something.
It was a voice that reached him first, and he jumped before settling and listening to the strange voice. A voice that sent a pleasant chill down his spine. Icy, brittle. Snowstorms. Grief. His heart went out to the voice as it--she?--spoke. To exist to ease something's pain, was that a good purpose, or a sad one? He couldn't tell, nor could he tell if the voice felt either way. Yet the Queen could not be defeated, nor could they leave. He stood there, arms loose at his side, surrounded by the strange mirrors listening to the voice. Questions? Tell a story? He grinned. "If you think anything I've got to say'll be interesting... sure! Least I can do if you're stuck here, right?" He frowned a little though. Fates misalign? Didn't the Queen want to be out of here? Ah. Well. If being free means easing the pain of some destruction, then maybe not. Ouch.
"First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self."
Took him a moment to figure out what the Queen meant by his real self, before he laughed and shrugged. "Ah well, I just started Amity--ah, a school. Academy. Really cool. I'm a first year. Repear. Uh, snow mage to be exact. My spells revolve around the cold. Got a familiar, Eadgard. Ed. Partridge, thus the username." He didn't care what Spinar said, he liked his username. "Seventeen, and pretty jacking glad to be out of my mom's house--uh. Sorry for the language?" Was it ok to swear around the queen? Well no filters popped up, so maybe? While he paused to ponder this, she continued on with her questions.
"Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey."
"Ok first, can I just say? You've really got to get rid of your talking trees. Especially Dilly, Nilly, and Milly. And their fourth friend, whoever it is." He paused on a huff, happy to get that out in the open. Did they have anything to do with what creatures prowled around the world? He had no idea, but at least now someone'd heard his issue. "Well besides dealing with them... meet some creeple. Cute ghoul with red hair and green skin. Siku's here too, which is pretty badass. He's always able to make things more interesting." He grinned at the memory of running into his childhood friend, even if the jerk had made a cheapshot comment on his username. He was going to talk to him about that when he woke up. And properly pranked him. "Envy and I went after some mobs, and I met this other ghoul when I was kinda flailing around eating some giant food. We both turned into rabbits." He paused and grinned a tad sheepishly. "I donno. It's been fun! Crazy, frustrating at times--really with those trees it's the worst--but it's been good!"
"Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy."
"What? Halloween Town? Amity? Ah they're good places. Not like my home though. Icy almost all the time. But our homes are warm, and it's what fuels our magic so." He thought about it for a moment. How should he be trying to explain the world? "There's a lot of us. Reapers like me with familiars or weapons. Monsters that are all kinds of creatures and beasts. Demons which... yeah. Everything and anything. Undead, which some were once human--cool huh? Ghosts, too. We're all around because of humans' FEAR. All these different climates and terrains. I've only seen a little of it. Still got a lot more to see." He paused, unsure how to wave a proper picture of the world. Least not in a way he was sure the Queen would appreciate. How do you describe the real world to a game? To someone locked up? He didn't get the chance to ponder this for long as the Queen began to speak again, drawing him from his thoughts.
"Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?"
Partridge actually winced at that one, eyes flying to the ground. He didn't really want to even look at the throne, as if that were the sole source of the questions. Which, for all he knew, it was. Why the personal question? He debated ignoring it, but realized that likely would be useless. Cool. Fine. He could blunder about like an idiot. He took a deep breath. "Dad died, mom married a demon, and pretty sure there's a few creeple who look down on the whole situation. That work for you?" There were far too many details he could go into. The adjustments, the sacrifices and supposed gains. He tried keeping his mind away from the gritty stuff. It just wasn't him. Wasn't what he wanted to be. At least his answer seemed to satisfy--or perhaps they realized he simply didn't want to continue?
"What are you afraid of?"
"Being left behind." The words were out of his mouth before he could really stop to consider them. Or their implications. Closing his eyes, he didn't bother to hide the groan. Pulled off his glasses, rubbed at his eyes. Yeah, that was it though. Through death, new chapters for the creeple in his life, or other means... he just didn't want to be left behind. He raced around, all laughter and smiles. All the positive thoughts. Maybe they could give him the speed and energy to keep up? To hold fast, hold on for the long haul. Maybe. It wasn't even much of a theory, a wispy concept of the mind. If he ran fast enough though, got strong enough, did enough spells and brought enough laughter to those around him. Would any of it be enough?
"Tell me a secret about yourself."
Now he rolled his eyes from under his hand, pulling two fingers apart to glare through them at the throne. This was getting ridiculous. Did he even really have a secret? Hiding under Kestral's bed was out.... he already talked about that. Plus his whole family knew. He didn't really.... hide anything? Could he even give that as an answer? Nah. Probably not. He stood for a moment, hand over his eyes, peering out every now and then, as he really thought about this one. At last, he just shrugged. Time to BS something. "I don't see my uh... step-family as family. I mean... we're not from the same lines. They're just more like... additions. Friends. But not... I donno. Not family-family." He wasn't sure how else to explain it, beyond how he'd tried as a scareling, yelling at his step-dad about how he wasn't his father. Those had been some stressful times, to say the least.
"What is it that you wish for the most?"
"To never be held back." Not by grief, not by guilt, not by his own limitations. He wanted to push all of it away, and go. Fly. Be free and enjoy and laugh. Limits were made to be tested, rules to be poked and loopholes found. It was a simple wish, yet one that could give him limitless adventures and fun and potential. How much of it he could accomplish on his own... he knew there was a great deal, if he'd just try for it. Did he need to explain all this to them..? Apparently not. The Queen began to speak again.
The Queen seemed to accept his answers and asked no further questions. Strange? How was he strange? Wasn't that a little kettle-to-pot? Though they gave a rather rude farewell--hope to never see him again, wow thanks--the Mad Hatter gave a bow to the throne--it only felt right--and began to look for a way out. Sure enough, one of the mirrors offered just what he sought.

Lean and lengthy, Partridge_in_a_Skulltree is a young man with blue-white hair shaved along the right side of his head, with the rest of his hair left to flop to the left. Blue-rimmed glasses sit at the end of his nose, the same pale blue as his eyes. A Mad Hatter to the end, his trademark coat and hat are both a dark blue. Underneath can be seen a tight white shirt, loose black pants, and crisscrossing brown belts.
It had been a long time since Briar_Rose had seen something other than the woods she now left behind. She now stood at the gates of the White Queen's Castle, looking upon its grandeur with a mix of awe and dread. Was this what it meant to be loyal to the Red Queen? Had she been signed up for a battle she now can't escape? The Gryphon walked through the massive doors cautiously, her guard raised in preparation for an ambush. Thankfully, it seemed as if there were no people anywhere, just an endless line of mirrors on either side of the grand marble hallway... Mirrors that held faces. The silent figures watched with cold stares as she passed each one, but some she noticed had been broken and held no face within.
The hallway seemed to be endless, and it changed as she made her way to the throne, its once pristine white light at the gates growing darker with shadow as she advanced. Rose now looked upon the throne of the White Queen in preparation for a trap, but the chamber was devoid of anything that told of there being a single person around.
'I wonder if there's even a Queen...' The one-winged Gryphon wondered. Then suddenly, a voice that was as wispy and brittle as the howling wind through dead branches reverbated throughout the marble halls in authority:
"Stand. Stand visitor, and listen. I cannot be freed so I am unafraid for I am [ Grief ] and a container. I exist to ease the pain of destruction. I will not move until this purpose is completed."
Rose listened intently, wondering how she was supposed to battle something she could not see.
"Now, visitor, you cannot defeat nor free me. You may explore my castle if you wish, but I have a few questions. I have very little visitors as a prisoner. Answer my questions, tell me a story, tell me about your world, and I will give you something in return. May it serve you well if the fates misalign and I am freed one day."
"Okay." What choice did she have but to accept? Maybe now she could find a way out.
"First, visitor, tell me about yourself. Your real self."
"Um, well, my name is Rhiannon and I'm a witch. I can do a little magic, but that's really only because my mom taught me a little bit." She looked down with a sad smile. "I'm a student at Amityville... I don't really have any friends... I like to read... And I like to make art because I can create something beautiful that makes me feel happy."
"Next visitor, I want to hear about your journey."
"There was a lot of walking through a lot of forests and getting lost. And dessert tasting..." Briar_Rose's once dream-boosted confidence flagged as she stood beneath the voice. "And there was also some kind of glitch that was terrible to go through..."
"Explain to me the world you live in. Not this one, the one your real bodies occupy."
"Halloween? It's nice. There are a lot of different creatures that live there, and there's my school, Amityville, and there's also smaller creatures called Minipets who can become really good friends, if you take care of them. It's not as confusing or... interesting as it is here, I'm sure. But it's home." She could feel her heart tug with homesickness as she said the words.
"Have you ever been hurt by someone you love?"
"It wasn't his fault, I know that now, but I felt like he did."
"How?" The voice asked. "When?"
"My dad, he..." Rose's voice wavered before she continued. "When my mom died, he... He was so distant and all he did was stay in his room all the time... I thought it was because he didn't want me anymore that he forgot all about me." A stray tear rolled down her cheek without her noticing, and she couldn't stop her voice from shaking as she answered. Grief didn't say anything for a while, in order to give her a moment to collect herself, then moved on.
"What are you afraid of?"
It was a question that was simple enough, but it took the Gryphon a lot of thought to find what it was she truly feared more than anything.
"I'm afraid... of hurting someone that I care about."
"Tell me a secret about yourself."
"Um..." she didn't like answering these questions anymore, when did they stop? "I- I wasn't there when my mother needed me... I didn't want to see her last days because I was afraid..." Her voice was breathless now, holding no power against the bitter cold of the voice that had been trapped here.
"What is it that you wish for the most?"
Briar_Rose's hand clenched into a fist and she wiped away her tears, pushing the feeling of despair and everything that went with it out of her mind.
"I wish to be stronger. I don't want to feel so weak and alone all the time, and I want to protect and fight for others." She looked at the empty throne in an act of bravery, awaiting Grief's next question.
"It is strange." The White Queen responds, "You are different, and so are your memories. I feel as if something may, perhaps change. Thank you for your story. I hope we do not meet again."
And then the voice had vanished, leaving nothing but the emptiness that had been there before.
