It suddenly made sense upon seeing that hole why Kyrie had hoped none of them were claustrophobic. Though it explained how the young woman remained hidden for so long.

"Down we go then," Lin murmured in English remembering that Wren was the only one who couldn't speak the language.

Relief washed over Wren's face, and she smiled softly at Lin. "Thanks," she murmured. "I was wondering what was going on."

Mari led the way down the ladder and the others followed. It was pitch black below, but at Andarien's interrogation, she assured them that the area was made entirely of dirt and that it would be quite safe to have Ponydash out for light.

The underground was far bigger than the cabin itself, though it was predominantly empty. Even in the light of Ponydash's mane and tail, the walls were not visible until they were close to them. Mari showed them an area where they could set up their things and sleep, and cautioned them to stick to that area. She herself would be sleeping down there as well, but in a different area.

While the group was setting up their beds, Chesnet came down with a basket of bread and told them he would be leaving it down there for them.

"Rest well," Mari told them all finally, smiling at them in Ponydash's light, "and whenever you wake, go on up to the main floor. Just climb the ladder and push on the trapdoor - don't knock. If it's not safe, it won't open."

"Okay," Lin nodded and then repeated what Mari said to Wren so she would know too.

Once everything was settled, they settled down to eat a bit before going to sleep. While it wasn't good to sleep on a full stomach it wasn't great to sleep on an empty one neither.

Going from eating to sleeping wasn't hard at all, they were all so tired. Lin, took to sleeping near her children, as it was lonely without Earendil.

Despite having gone to bed early, the group did not awaken until noon the following day, when Chesnet came down to wake them. He opened the trapdoor above them, allowing light to stream in, called down to give them a warning, and then came down.

"Lunch is ready for you," he told them as they began to stir. "You've been asleep for about fourteen hours."

"Don't feel rested," Andarien muttered, pulling his pillow over his head.

Lancaeriel had been sleeping off to the side, and she yawned and sat up slowly. "Give it another day," she murmured.

Lin sat up and rubbed her neck. Chuckling a bit as she looked over to Andarien, the poor boy.

"If you sleep any longer it'll just make it worse," she told him, poking him in the shoulder.

Miyuki yawned and squinted. Having just woken up and not having any natural increase of light, the sudden light coming from the trapdoor seemed to much to her. It showed in the way her eyes glinted from the extra light.

It took a bit, since they were still sleepy, but Miyuki was the first one out from underground. Though she had a bad case of bed head and tail.

"We should set up tents down here," Wren muttered, running her fingers through her hair and then smoothing the wrinkles out of her shirt. "Then at least we'll have privacy to change our clothes and such."

It took some poking, but Andarien was up soon as well, and then everyone managed to get up to the cabin for their lunch.

It seemed Kyrie and Mathias were not around, as only Chesnet and Mari sat with the others to eat - in the sitting room, since the kitchen table wasn't big enough for the seven of them.

"So what is the plan?" Lancaeriel asked as they ate. "Kyrie has told us essentially nothing, and Earendil has been taken captive. We came here to help end the conflict, but ... what are we going to do?"

"Until we know more about the situation, can we even make a plan yet?" Lin asked with a sigh.

She took a bite out of her food and thought about what she had learned over the years as she chewed.

Swallowing, she added, "As a dark elf they probably thought it was local until they talked to him. Everyone but Wren knows Ancient Tongue but there's an accent.. dialect here that's different. Not that Earendil or I are any better seeing as it's not our first language."

In fact she knew that Lanceriel sounded a bit different too, but Lanceriel's first life involved this language so Lin assumed what she was hearing was the language in it's original state.

"What is their stance on foreigners?"
Lin asked.

Mari looked grim. "Foreigners are to be arrested on sight and brought to the General for questioning," she replied. "I've heard different reports on what happens to them afterwards, and I believe it depends on their race and rank."

"The higher their rank, the less likely they are to be released," Chesnet added. "The General is paranoid. He feels threatened by people with power, even if their power means nothing in Garnelia."

Mari smiled at Lin. "Hopefully your husband did not introduce himself with his rank, and will shortly be set free," she said, trying to be optimistic. "If that is the case, then my eyes and ears in the city will pick him up and keep him safe, and let us know as soon as possible where he is."

Lin thought about what Earendil would have done if caught and placed her forehead in her hands. Earendil, was too use to that title meaning something, it wasn't that he bragged about it, but if all else failed rank often got one out of trouble not into trouble.

"Not knowing about the General's paranoia he probably actually did just that..." Lin murmured.

Miyuki frowned if that was the case, "There's nothing that can be done unless change happens..."

She wasn't going to say it out right because she was saying a rebellion. This idea wasn't new to her, she had lived for a few years in Amon Darthir. Playing the downfall of the old king was a favourite game among her old childhood friends.

Mari sighed and rubbed her temple with her fingertips. "Then there is nothing else for it but for us to rescue him. Though how, I do not know."

She smiled grimy. "Thankfully, we have been making progress in leaps and bounds in the past few years. We have stockpiled arms and armour for a small army, hopefully enough to formulate a plan to infiltrate the palace. It has been slow progress, but slow is better than none."

Andarien blinked at her. "Then you're not just hiding out here?" he asked curiously.

"No indeed," Mari laughed softly. "No ... I know it appears so, but we are hard at work, planning on saving the people from the General."

"Which is why we were asked the come," Lin murmured, "Granted I'm not sure what Kyrie exactly had in mind..."

Only that the Pokemon were probably partly involved, but she wasn't sure what else Kyrie wanted them to do. It was the unusual skills that the group brought with them that she was sure Kyrie wanted to incorporate in some way.

All the while Miyuki was translating for Wren, since her mother was busy talking.

Mari folded her hands in her lap and looked thoughtfully at each of her visitors. "I spoke with Kyrie at great length this morning," she said softly. "She has told me your story, and what she hopes to accomplish here. She will be joining us later on to do some brainstorming, but in the meantime, do you mind if I ask you questions about your abilities and experiences?"

She smiled apologetically. "I know, it can be rather tedious, but every detail, no matter how minute, is important. Each one opens up another option for us and increases our odds of success."

"Of course," Lin replied with a nod, "We'll try to answer the best we can."

They all varied in terms of experience, in fact they were a pretty mixed bag.

Mari nodded. "Then why don't we do this person by person?" she suggested. "Perhaps you could start us off, Lin. What skills do you have, what weapons can you use? Do you have experience? Fighting? Stealth? Infiltration?"

She glanced at Chesnet, and the lean man nodded and went to the other room to get something to write with.

Lin thought about it, it had been a long time since she had thought about what she learned and what she knew. She had come to settle down to a family life (granted it was a strange family life with no set place but it was her life).

"I'm strong in the sword, knives and hand to hand combat. I know how to use the bow and arrow, but I admit that's not my strong point, mainly because it's something I've not needed to use all that much."

Hunting had mainly been relegated to the men, so while she knew how to hunt in a pinch, she wasn't a true archer by any stretch of the imagination.

"I've trained in the martial arts for all my youth, but most of my experience comes from my travels with Earendil. Before I traveled and was married, I did use to do patrols on occasion and had been in one travel group to hunt down slavers. We've only been in about... two or three conflicts while traveling, which considering we've been doing so for many years now is kind of amazing."

She thought about it a bit more and then remembered two things. Magic was not Lin's specialty so she tended to forget that she had any magic to begin with.

"I tend to forget I have magic, but I do have one Gift and one spell. My Gift isn't useful outside of butterfly season, butterflies carries the voices of those around them so I can hear those, I use to listen to a lot of gossip as a child, it's why I learned different languages. I also do have a small spell that allows me to teleport, appear from one place to another, but they are small distances as they have to be in my line of sight. That being said I don't see as far as elves do."

Miyuki was surprised to hear this, she had no idea her mother had any magic other than her Gift. Then again, her mother was very personal and practical, if she could get somewhere on her own two feet there was no need for her use that spell.

"And I've only done infiltration once," she added.

Miyuki's head snapped to her mother, since when did her mother do stuff like that?

"If there are windows that can fit a person or towers that can allow access, at night I can get to them without being seen. I can fly with these wings."
