Darkness Everdeen

James went to the same bar he always went. It has always been his favorite bar since it was small, hidden, and had very good service. It was a good place and he has come here for years. The employees were familiar with him. He asked for a scotch, which meant that he was troubled with something. James only ordered it when he felt pressured or trouble somehow. "You know, I think I need to either start going out more often or just not go out at all. Woman are so strange." He told the bartender who listened to him and just spoke to James casually.

After her bath, Silvia changed into some fresh casual clothing and let her hair dry a bit, leaving it down and wet. She put on a coat and put the hood up to keep her head warm and not get sick from the cold wind. She went out and went to a random bar from all the bars she knew were close by. She went to a bar and looked around. She saw that James was in the bar and sat down at a table far away from him, not wanting to walk far for the next bar and ordered for the strongest drink they had. She rarely drank alcohol beverages and only did so at home when no one else was around and when she was really depressed. That was the reason after their break up, she didn't go to work and stayed home, sometimes going to a bar that she usually preferred to go to since no one there knew about her well enough to question her. She hadn't drank any alcohol for almost a year or two and couldn't help fall back into the habit.

Darkness Everdeen

James didn't put much attention to Silvia. He noticed she walked in, but he decided to put her off her mind. She was the reason why he was there drinking in the first place! Is she stalking me or something? I regret going to that damn ball... he thought quietly as he drank and read the newspaper quietly.

Silvia got her drink and drank some of it, trying not to scarf it down. She closed her eyes and took a few breathes to relax she opened her eyes and drank some of her drink again and put it down. A man that seemed a quite good-looking approached her and sat next to her. "Hello, ma'am. Why is such a beautiful woman like you sitting by herself in a place like this?" he asked her with a smile. She looked over him and remembered James was there. She decided to just go with it and smiled to the man softly. "I'm just here to get a drink. Why is a man like you here all alone? Won't girls be jealous that you're talking to me and not them?" she asked him, taking another sip.

James heard another male voice and just out of curiosity, he turned around. Much for his surprise, he noticed a young and good looking man talking to Silvia. Part of him felt very uneasy. It was jealousy. Alright, James. Calm down. You and Silvia broke up 5 years ago and now you two are rivals. Just ignore it. he thought taking a deep breathe. After a few seconds, he realized he couldn't ignore it so he just turned his head a bit around spying on Silvia and the man that was flirting with her.

Out of the corner of her eye, Silvia saw that James was now spying on her and was glad for it. She wanted him to see she was doing fine even without her dating him. The man had chuckled at her comment and she placed her cheek on her knuckles, leaning on the table, making her look like she was flirting as well. "Well, I don't think that the girls would care if I stayed with you," he said. "Oh? Then does that mean I don't have to worry if later they try to tell me to not talk to you anymore? You seem like a great guy and I don't want to stay away from you," she said, flirting back. She had left her other hand laying on the table and the man had placed his hand on hers, showing he was flirting with her more. "Well, if it really upsets you, why not go to dinner with me some time soon. I wouldn't want a girl like you to be all alone."

James face seemed flustered. It was more than obvious that all that flirting was bothering him. Not being able to handle it any more, James stood up and gently tabbed the man on the shoulder. James was taller than the guy. "I'm sorry but this woman has some other important things to do other than to go out on dates with guys like you. I'm sorry. Let's go." James said grabbing Silvia's hand and walking out of the bar with her, basically dragging her. James had never been the jealous type so this was kind of a surprise. Not even when they were actually dated did he get jealous.

Silvia was about to accept the man's offer until James tapped the man's shoulder she was taken back when he told the man that she was busy with other things and practically dragged her out of the bar with him. She had never seen this side of him. She realized he was jealous and got her hand our of his grasp when they finally got out of the bar. "What are you doing, Nicholson. You don't control my life so why jump into my love life when you're not even part of it," she said, rubbing her wrist since it sort of hurt from his strong grasp on her. She wanted him to feel all the pain she had felt every time he made her feel pain, digging the knife of jealousy deeper.

James was being controlled by jealousy so much that he wasn't even thinking or acting straight! "Well, maybe deep down I still want to be part of it! Look at us Longergon! We.... what happened to us?" he sighed and looked at the ground. "I'm leaving before I make a bigger fool of myself." he placed his hands in his pockets and turned around getting ready to leave. He felt so embarrassed. He allowed his emotions to get over him rationally.

Silvia was totally taken off guard when he said he still wanted to be part of it. 'Does he really still love me?' she thought. She tried to think back to why they broke up with him in the first place. Was it all the suspicious affairs she thought he had? The fact that he wasn't as social as her? She couldn't remember why. She stayed silent and watched him walk away. She felt like going over to him and stop him, but she held herself back. Well, that is what she thought she did until she realized she was holding onto his coat to hold him back.

James's eyes opened wide as he felt a weight on him of being pulled gently. What? he thought as he turned around and saw Silvia stopping him from leaving. "Silvia..." he removed her hand from his coat and then embraced her tightly. She still smelled as good as he remembered. He hugged her tightly, not caring who was looking. For some reason, this feeling of having her close made him feel sad and happy at the same time. It was a feeling he had longed. Why had they broken up? Because he was too stubborn and preferred his job over Silvia? Or was it because he never took initiative in their relationship? "I don't think I'm ready to see you date other men yet..." he whispered to her.

Silvia didn't know what to do when he hugged her. She never expected any of this to happen. She couldn't help lay her head against his chest, being quite shorter than him. She realized that she was longing for an action like this from him. She clinged onto his coat on his chest and listened to his whisper. She felt a nice satisfying feeling just by hearing him whisper to her and feel his tight hug that she hadn't felt in years. She stayed silent, not knowing what to say, feeling speechless.

James let go of her. Since she didn't say anything he assumed she was feeling uncomfortable even though he did feel her rest her head against his chest. He let out a heavy sigh before letting go of her and getting out of her grasp. "Have a nice afternoon Longergon." he did a small bow and then walked away, quickly disappearing from her view. He had headed back home trying to think of what happened just now, but instead he ended up trying to get his mind out of what happened by just trying to finish solving the case, which was not happening! He was still as lost as he had before. Was this murderer just on a rampage? Or what the hell was going on?

Silvia felt sad that he let go of her and that she couldn't stay like that with him, even though she didn't understand why. Before she could say anything to him, he had already disappeared and she felt depressed. She walked home and tried to figure out what happened just a moment ago. She tried to get her mind off it all as best she could, but to no avail. She started to think about the case to get her mind off what just happened and realized she got home. She also realized that she hadn't gotten anywhere with the case and neither was James. She didn't know anything else about the murderer and that maybe they were being toyed with that night.

As the night arrived, James figured he was not going to get anything done or figured out like this. The master mind behind all this crimes was playing with them and who knew when there might be an end like this. It could be "Jack the Ripper" game all over again! He did not want that. And so, swallowing his pride, James got his coat and walked out until he reached Silvia's home. He knocked on her door and waited for her to open.
