Volan d Vol So, forgive me for sounding ridiculous, but I've never done Apocalypse or Escalation. Does this mean you can only field those models when playing a game in those types? Yes, though right now we're not so sure about the Knights. Nothing has been announced on that just yet. As for those two expansions: It's quite simple actually, Escalation is regular 40k, but with the allowance for one super-heavy model per primary detachment. Apocalypse is 40k, but with all restrictions and the like removed. Basically this is the variant of 40k where you can just go nuts and field whatever you want! blaugh

Oh okay, that's kind of cool, I should totally play Escalation with those then and finally have something that could toe to toe with a stupid Wraith Knight...
I'm not bitter at all...>____>;;

It sucks, cause I'm the kind of person that just likes to try things that people don't usually do, you know I just play for fun which is why me and my friends when we play Magic the Gathering we make silly decks that still work but would never hold up in competitive play. So in Warhammer where freaking EVERYONE uses one of two different armies almost it's kind of a buzz kill...Though I was happy to hear that Space Marines took second place in the Las Vegas open ;D

40k is very much driven by the meta behind the game. It doesn't exactly help that GW is releasing these data sheets with special formations on a regular basis.
I will most certainly be getting a Knight, though not for my Night Lords, but rather as a project on the side, I am going to enjoy doing the heraldry and decorative markings. emotion_yatta

Yeah they look like they would be fun to go crazy on the paint scheme I know a guy, though I dislike Eldar so much, he actually custom painted his Wraith Knight as a Harlequin and it looks bad a**.
