Thackery's eyes widened.

"You can join them?" he whispered, just in time to find himself scooped into a hug. The air of solemnity was entirely lost on him, and his tail continued to wag at the thought of such an incredible opportunity.

"Yes! I came to visit after stuff happened with Remi's adventure and then I got this--" He squirmed to have enough freedom to move just a bit and held up his arm, displaying the cuff. "And I met soooo many friends and the sun is so nice here and the stars change some and look like real glitter and, and..."

There was much more to talk about, but he'd missed the ghoul, so he settled into the hug and wrapped his arms around her.

The next steps by the helpful wizard, dubbed A.P.O.L.L.O (A Piece Of Lame Lousy Operating system), guided Otto through several steps including a brief explanation of how weaponization worked ("We are paving the way to a better future!") and why this was a good thing ("Saving the world one problem at a time with the use of weapons and violence!"). While this was going on a loading bar was slowly churning, moving from ten percent, to thirty, to seventy. The cylinder that Aleria was standing in hissed a bit, and then slowly, begrudgingly hummed to life, brighter and brighter. A strange electric buzzing filled the air, a sharp crackle filling the atmosphere, enough for everyone's hairs to stand on end, and for Fear creatures to feel a sensitive whine, a strange pitch to it that sounded almost familiar -

- For a second despite the electricity and chaos Amrita and Thackery could almost see something so strange and raw, peeled from physical shape and essence. It was horrible, it was destructive as it left nothing but just the smallest of cores behind and then it became beautiful as bits and pieces respun themselves, reshaping, intertwining-

- As finally the cylinder slowed with a soft hiss and left only a weapon behind. Beautiful perhaps, or simply cold. In its raw, exposed state, just converted, it almost felt just like Aleria, as if she was still there reassuring this was quite her choice.

'Cooldown period in session' said the wizard helpfully on the popup window. 'Please wait thirty seconds before removing the weapon from the chamber. How would you like to rate your experience, we would like to know your feedback!

Saving the world one problem at a time with the use of weapons and violence.

The muffled words sounded so comforting through the glass, even as the cylinder locked down with a small hiss. Aleria was left trapped with no way out: if they had any misgivings, the time to air them had passed. They placed their hand on the glass, waving just a little bit before clasping their hands in front of them.

As kind as the hunters were, Aleria wasn't doing this for them. They closed their eyes, and basked in the giddiness of a new tomorrow breaking in the horizon.

They were going to be rewritten. Ripped asunder and formed anew, baptised in metal and wreathed in runes, Aleria would soon be a force to be reckoned with. Aleria would matter, for more reasons than their imminent demise. Even with their eyes closed, they could tell that the light focused on them was intensify. A buzzing began, soon growing strong enough to rattle their teeth in place.

The whine resonated through Aleria's core, and their face would have been wet again if the electrical charge had not dried the tears instantaneously. Their smile began to widen, the outside world forgotten. This was what was important. It was all they had ever lived for: a chance to become something better. Wasn't that all anyone wanted? To ascend into greatness? To make their mark on the world, enough so that they would be cared for? To be remembered?

Aleria did not shout in their last moments, and if anyone had listened closely enough, they would have heard a bright bark of gleeful laughter--

What had been they was gone now, and as the smoke cleared, it could be seen.

Aleria's new beginning.

"Don't even think about it." Amrita growled against Thackery; there was no way she was going to lose two people in one day. Especially since she knew Tack a lot more than she did Aleria. The patchwork refused to let go of the boil, quite thankful for a friendly and familiar presence despite the horrible surprise it had initially been. The air around them began to feel charged, and the whine that followed made her flinch, her feature pinching as if it would ease the sound.

Yet she forced herself to watch as Aleria was torn apart to their core and then some, peeled and stretched until there was something so small and so tiny left. Her trembling grip on Tack tightened as she watched in absolute horror as it began to reform; she saw no beauty in this. There wasn't anything there to illicit awe from her. All it did was make her more miserable than she was when she first arrived, and that was saying something.

The conversion came to an end, and Amrita's gaze dropped from the newly formed weapon, a sad smile on her lips. "Well would you look at that, Aleria. You're blue. Just like you wanted..." She said softly, as if the Demon would hear her. The words trailed off into a small whimper, her head turning to bury her face against Thackery's shoulder once more, allowing herself these last thirty seconds of cooldown to openly mourn the loss of what could have been a dear friend.

The warning from Amrita came a little late, as Thackery had already begun to think about it. It crossed his mind a very long time ago, from the first time he swore to protect Reine - now that it seemed like an option, his eyes glimmered with wonder and possibility. His ears twitched towards the hissing noise, and he craned his neck to see what was happening, managing only to catch the very end of the process.

And how beautiful it was.

"Ohhhhh," he breathed out, clinging to Amrita. "They look so strong."

A success. Unlike when Nuru had been weaponized, Otto had seen this one through from beginning to end. Somehow, he didn't feel guilty like he had then. Maybe he really was dead inside..

The blonde looked back down to the console after it was all over, and curled his lip at the choices provided. "Seriously? It's like Mark programmed this thing." He huffed and clicked the first option. Better not to rub them Life dudes egos too much. But, the machine worked. And it was surprisingly easy to use for something made of science.

He looked over to the pair of students with very different reactions to the procedure. "I'll take you back to the lighthouse once I wrap up here." he said casually, dreading the uncomfortable walk back with little miss 'I hate you'. "And uuuuh.... who're you exactly?" He asked Thackery, raising a brow. "Don't tell me them seance weirdos managed to figure out how to summon for real."

Amrita glanced up at Tack, frowning as she tried to figure out the tone in his voice. She didn't like it. Not one bit. Aleria had been incredibly strong to do what they did, but now that strength was going to be in enemy hands. Now, that strength would likely be turned on the creatures she once was. She said nothing though, at least not yet. When Otto piped up though, she turned her frown on him. The next time she saw him, she was going to make him pay for all this misery.

"You're taking both of us back." She clarified for Otto, still hugging onto Tack in case he had any bright ideas. "He's my friend who has been missing for a very long time." A not-so-subtle glare was thrown at the Cerberus, but it was quickly smoothed away; how could she be mad at him when he was alive and apparently very well? "We're going home now though. Together." Her gaze turned to look up at the boil in question, her hold on him loosening to instead take a hold of his hand. "Right?"

"Yeah, yeah Both of you. Fine." Otto muttered distractedly, leaving the console to get Aleria out of the converter. He had the manual in hand, looking for whatever was standard procedure. Was there an after care chapter? When did it turn into a tablet? Why was no one taking care of him?

"He's ours," said the cloaked person shorter than Otto, grabbing Thack's other hand, "we summoned him, so we're going to keep him. He's injured and needs love, attention, and nurturing until he is whole again and then we can release him back into the wild where he belongs, not in captivity," they glowered at Amrita. Keep in mind they actually didn't know where Amrita came from.

The cloaked person taller than Otto opened the door moodily. "Now that you disbelievers have ruined a perfectly good seance, you can leave now. Tell the quartermaster we deserve at least an hour more of time. At least."

The screen that Otto pressed popped up with a small final display.

'Thank you for using Weapons Converter 11.1 (APOLLO) version. Please insert the weapon into the HAPPY WEAPONS DEPOSIT SLOT and have a nice day!'

There in the far side of the room, on the other side of the tube and the Ouija board, was a trash-chute looking panel right in the wall.

Injured? Thackery didn't look injured, but Amrita turned a curious stare to her friend anyway, looking him up and down for signs of injury. She didn't find any glaringly obvious ones, which lead her right back to the assumption that these cloaked people were complete kooks. It was all too easy for her to glower right back at them; she didn't have time for this. She just wanted to take her friend and fellow council member, and go home.

"He belongs back in Halloween. With his friends and his brothers. And me." She continued to frown at their audacity, and suddenly turned towards Otto with a new resolve. "I'm not going home unless Thackery comes with me." Which was clearly a threat that meant 'and I won't leave you alone until I get my way because you're the a*****e who started all this'.

Otto took up Aleria in her new form, looking over the glorified trash shoot with a grimace. He didn't feel bad for most of the day, but this one was making his stomach turn a bit. He huffed, sending the staff down the chute with only a few second thoughts.

"Whatever, weirdos. This place is a ********' mess. Have it cleaned up after an hour. This is gross." As if he had room to talk. Unelss Molly cleaned his room, he was hardly a shining example of tidy.

He looked at Amrita with exasperation, the last thing he wanted to do was hear her b***h at him any more than she had. "Guys, let the puppy go." He grumbled, his temper starting to show. "Let him go, clean up, and I'll buy you a shiny new crystal ball."

He wouldn't.

The commotion as Mimsy passed the room was hard to ignore.

Her brow furrowed and she stopped to stare at the door, slipping her papers back into the folder she carried. Though her intention once she looked inside was to simply satisfy her curiosity and move along - and she almost had, when it appeared at first as if it were some strange sort of romantic undertaking - she caught a glimpse of something that she felt compelled to address.

"What--who--was that?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at an empty-handed Otto as she stepped inside. This room was not very familiar to her, but she was well aware of its intended use, and Amrita's presence in it was uncomfortable at best. Gaze fixed on the other hunter, she took one step towards the ghoul to be within her reach.

In the meantime, Thackery used the arrival of the lady-with-hurty-friends to wriggle free of the handholding. As much as he liked holding hands, there would be plenty of time for that in the future, after he checked out the really cool new thing to play in.

Maybe Aleria wanted to join them by being a weapon, he reasoned; in his mind, there were plenty of ways to help them, and being a weapon couldn't have been the only one.

The machine probably just worked like some really fancy initiation process, all automated and smart! It would just give him another neat bracelet, or maybe a pin, kinda like the one that meant he was a member of the Student Council. He clasped his hands together and very slowly began to move towards the chamber, his eyes glimmering at the sight of it.

All signs indicated that he just wanted to look at it.

And that had been all he wanted to do at first, until he thought of how strong he could be if he was a real true member of Deus Ex. This could allow him to protect his friends here and at home! There was truly nothing better.

With one quick motion, he smashed his hands onto the button he'd seen Otto press, then leapt into the chamber, his wagging tail steadily thumping against the side.

"Thank you." It was the first sincere thing she had said to Otto this whole time, her voice edged with relief. In that moment, she had to acknowledge that Otto wasn't that bad. Still on her hitlist, but not immediately at the top. Near first, close second.

A familiar voice made her turn with a gasp. "Mimsy?" She wasn't sure whether she should be delighted or upset at her arrival; Aleria did name her as one of the Hunters who convinced her to turn, after all. "That was Aleria." She announced unhappily, the distraction enough to allow Thackery to escape her grasp without much of a second thought.

"Why would you con---oh no." The patchwork's hand grasped for Thackery's, and upon realizing it was no longer within range, she started to try and feel the space beside her, praying that he was there beside her but too scared he wasn't to actually look right away. "Oh no." She repeated again in a more immediate panic, this time looking for him, wheeling around to spot the run away; and when she did, he was already hitting the button that Otto had pressed.

"TACK, NO!" She shrieked, rushing forward to try and stop it - stop him - even if it meant pulling him bodily from the chamber.

The gross breach of safety protocol went temporarily unnoticed as Mimsy's expression shifted from suspiciously stern to dolefully disappointed.

"Aleria," she slowly repeated, frowning at the dropoff slot. It was an unfamiliar finality, the strange concept of knowing that she would never share a fond conversation with them again, and she wasn't sure how to touch the feeling it left behind. That realization made her posture stiffen, eyes hurriedly finding Amrita again.

"Please assure me that you are not--"

And then she was. Or she moved like she intended to go into the chamber too, at least, shouting what must have been a nickname for the canine. Panic surged through her, and she acted without taking any time to address the odd feelings that accompanied it, dropping her documents in favor of stopping Amrita. She lunged towards her, thin arms stretched as far as she could manage, and clumsily tried to 'rescue' her by attempting to wrap her arms around her middle.

"What the--" Otto scoffed angrily asTack threw himself to the chamber. "Git outta there! Stop touchin' the deliate equipment---AMRITA don't---MIMSY get those two outta there, please?" Seriously! His first time doing a weaponization and these Halloween brats were ruining his cred!
