This was going to be the ugliest cake ever. But... made with love? Could love save a cake? Likely not. "Nope." He replied bluntly, "Just soda, peanut butter and left over candy from Halloween.""This cake idea is lookin' kind of bleak."

Okay, so the lack of any cake-making ingredients posed a teeny tiny issue in their plans, but surely they could overcome it. "Do you think the kitchen here has any? Maybe we can uh...borrow some." It wouldn't be the first time she had done so, after all. Otherwise, their only other alternative was...
"...Glue the leftover Halloween candy into a cake shape with peanut butter and ice it?" It wouldn't be a waste since they'd eat it, but it was not...a very conventional or practical idea.

"Borrow..." More like just plain old take some. Borrowing implied giving stuff back, after all. It was their best bet, though. "I.... dunno if that'd taste like a Reese Peanut Butter Cake...or just bad.." Was it worth attempting? Wasting that chocolate? "I don't wanna risk it." Denying Otto his stash of chocolate ended with an even grouchier Otto. He sighed and flopped his arms and subsequently his chest and face onto the island. "No portals sucks. I want cake."

Immediately hopping off her seat when Otto flopped down, Eva took it upon herself to...flop over his back. It was apparently her attempt to comfort him--maybe it was supposed to be some kind of hug--but whether it was effective or not had yet to be seen.
"It's okay, Puppy," She tried to reassure him, stretching her hand forward in an attempt to pat one of his while in her odd position, "We can just grab some ingredients from the kitchens and try to use that instead I guess." So it wouldn't be as good as one that they bought from a nice bakery, but she was sure that they probably wouldn't screw up too badly either.
"I wish the portals were up though," She agreed after a moment of thought, fidgeting anxiously, "I mean, it's nearly Christmas, so..."

Comfort or hug? Otto just felt pinned face first on the counter top. But whatever, really. It wasn't like he made any move to get her off of him. "Yeah. No one'll care if we use the kitchen for cake making." Probably. "I dunno if I'll trust portals for a long time anyway." He grumbled to himself. "Life Techs are effed up in the brain."

She nuzzled her cheek against the back of his head in...what might have been an attempt at comforting him at the mention of the portals. Poor boy had definitely gone through a lot lately, huh? Hoping that she'd be able to take his mind off of some of these things, Eva wrapped her arms around his waist, trying to peel him off of the counter top and haul him back upright.
"Baking in the kitchen it is, then!" The young woman beamed, sounding enthusiastic enough for the both of them (and probably with the excitement of about ten people), "I can't wait!"
It was a tragedy waiting to happen.

Well. Yes. This did make him feel marginally better. He stood now, with an Eva attached to his waist, and gave a resigned sigh. "Okay then. Christmas cake making. Its a date."One only hoped it didn't turn out to be a day of tummy aches and regrets.
