Amanda mostly grew up with her father's human family, visiting her mom hard at work in the underground every other weekend and some holidays. Their family ha split up since they were a child due to a massive disagreement between parents. At Amanda's request, a family dinner was held, but it ended in complete disaster and Amanda didn't try to force her family together anymore. Shortly afterward, their letter from Merlin arrived and they set off for the school.
Amanda's looking to be an alchemist and is taking the practitioner course her second year.

Camille's town is... weird. They have an odd view that death isn't final. Not in a spiritual or metaphorical sense, in a LITERAL sense. No one in the town finds it weird for someone to be brought back from the dead via necromancy. Of course, there are rules in that idea. One can only be brought back if the death was unintentional, unexpected or unfair. Someone can be brought back if they were murdered, but not if they died of old age. Also, the person bringing the person back cannot be forced to do it, it must be their choice. Why? Because the only exchange for a life is a life, the taint that occurs because of necromancy can only result in death (without, of course, extreme tampering). The last rule is that no one under the age of 30 can be the one to bring someone back. It'd be a waste for someone so young to sacrifice themselves. As such, no one under that age knows how to bring someone to life.
Camille grew up completely in this town, it was her normal. She never thought that it was strange or unusual for these things to happen. In fact, her dog Baldwin was revived by her father just before she started attending Merlin. She also grew up with a vampire under her roof. It wasn't unusual for vampires to stay in her town. People generally weren't afraid of vampires when they knew if they were to fall victim to one they could have a second chance. These were all things that were normal for Camille, average. It wasn't until her first year of Merlin that she started to see differently. She still holds that her town isn't wrong or terrible, but she understands that maybe it isn't everyone's normal.

Short and plump, it'd be hard to find Egg without- well -something egg themed on her person. She takes pride in her cute-style appearance, making sure her hair is always perfectly died pink and she's not showing any dark brown roots, and making sure her outfit is always- ALWAYS -coordinated.

Egg never knew much in the way of hardships. Her family was well off, she had many friends growing up, she even stayed on the right side of the tracks and didn't join the teenage magic gang that had formed in her area. Her letter from Merlin was expected- as both of her parents had gone before her -but a letter to one of her closest friends was a shock. As much as Egg was really hoping to attend Merlin with this friend, she accepted his right to reject attending.

Growing up as a halfie, Chione embraced her mother’s Elven heritage much more than her doting father’s (making him awfully upset.) This partially stemmed from her mother having died giving birth to her and Chione, feeling somewhat guilty spent most of her time learning Elven culture, spending a lot of time outside during night looking at the stars whilst the closest she ever came to Dwarven culture was making jewelry out of all the gemstones and trinkets her father attempted to shower on her and her older brother. Having been born with the death of her mother (that’s the theory anyway.) Chione seemed far more in touch with the realm of spirits and ghosts than normal, almost to an unnerving degree. Going along with it, she took up the “hobby” of “playing around” with Ouija boards and other methods of mediumship and clairvoyance (once again, to the disapproval of her father.)

Adriene looks like your typical goth girl, with porcelain-white skin and raven-black hair. She barely ever wears any color besides black, unless she's feeling adventurous. You can always find Adriene with a giant grin on her face. If she stops smiling, you should be concerned for someone's safety.

Adriene grew up as an urban elf in Paris, France. As such, she's very well-versed in human customs and trends. Adriene's parents raised her at home, where they taught her about magic and everything that came with it. They had a fascination with black magic that eventually passed to their daughter. The only difference was that they had no qualms with using curses and hexes to better study black magic.
When she was a child, it was very common for her parents to use her as a guinea pig for hexes. One of these hexes was an obedience hex that made Adriene follow any and all orders directed at her. Her parents used this in order to keep her under control. It worked fairly well until she went out one day to buy groceries. A group of human bullies followed her through the Parisian streets, jeering her as she went along. It was harmless enough until one of the bullied said, "Kill yourself, f****** b****!!"
Adriene's parents caught her at the very last minute. A second later, and Adriene would have plummeted off of the top of their 22-story apartment building. They removed the obedience hex. After this, she began rebelling in her own way, falling into the goth subculture.
Adriene received her letter to Merlin while she was under the effects of a new, harmless hex. Her parents always expected that she would be accepted to a magic school, so they let her go.

Gwen is surprisingly curvy, with strong arms and legs from years of gymnastics and cheerleading. She's about 5'4 with long, blonde hair that cascades down her back and soft brown eyes. She tries to dress so she doesn't stand out much. And she's always wearing glittering red studs.

Magnus is pretty short, clocking in at 4'8". He looks almost completely halfway between a dwarf and an elf, with a mostly skinny, but full-looking figure. His dwarf heritage shows best in the body hair that he's always shaving. If he didn't shave often, he would have almost a full beard. All in all, he looks like a very friendly and amiable boy.

Magnus was born in a dwarf colony in Romania, but his family was exiled only a few years after he was born, for reasons he won't talk about. He prefers to live in the moment. He will, however, openly say that he and his parents were traveling merchants in the span between the exile and his first year at Merlin.
Overall, Magnus is a friendly and amiable person, and when he's not practicing his magic or doing his homework, you can find him setting up shop in Justus, buying and selling whatever he can find.

Violet grew up in an apartment complex full of elves. She lived with her mother and her sister, the latter of which was a half-elf. (Violet's father and her sister's father were different.) Violet rarely left the complex, even attending the first several years of school with the other elf children there. Her sister, being a half-elf, was not allowed to attend Violet's school.
Violet's sister eventually left to attend the Academy, and several months later an owl arrived with news. Violet's mother refused to share the details, and her sister never returned, and Violet is determined to find out just what happened.

Mirabelle's family is fairly well off, and her home is mostly comfortable other than the fact that her parents put a lot of pressure on her to succeed. Other than these discussions, and awkward four word conversations, and around meal time, she interacts very little with family. Her socialization outside the home isn't too great either; once Mirabelle passed third grade, she had close to no friends, and finding someone she could even agree with was a difficulty in itself. Due to having lots of time because of having no one to talk to, she sped ahead in school work, and spent most of her time working.

Quentin is, to put it lightly, a backwoods bumpkin. He grew up in a mundane family in Alabama, raised by his Mama and Granny. Their family wasn’t very well-off, and Quentin found himself having to work odd jobs for money at a young age. He received his invitation to a prestigious academy, much to his Mama’s surprise. Working harder than usual, he raised enough money to find a way to Wales, and is determined to find a good job to help support his family.

Koji is pretty tiny, standing at 5’3” with a very wispy frame. His jet black hair is always neatly combed, without a single strand out of place, and his clothes are always free of any dust or dirt. He’s almost frighteningly pale, a sight which is almost set off by the black markings around his eyes.

Koji grew up in a seaside village in rural Japan. The people of the village revere squids, their primary source of food, and the important people in the village are given black markings around their eyes, in order to resemble a squid. Koji himself is the grandson of the village elder, and as such, he was given the eye markings as a sign of his grandparent’s rank. The village’s traditional values and relative isolation have left Koji naive and cut off from modern society, and as such, the transfer to Wales is a big change for him. His parents were unsure at first on whether sending him off to school would be acceptable, but after much deliberation, he was allowed to go.

Thane is Mirabelle's cousin, and so, from connection to the King family, knows how to be quite proper. However, the fact that Thane has two mothers caused a separation between the King family and Thane's family.
Thane always knew about magic, but never had much of a chance to experience it, as one mother, Savanna, is a mundane with Sight, and the other, Olive, refuses to do so around the house. However Savanna would always tell Thane stories when they were small, about times Olive actually has done magic around her. These stories were clear exaggerations but little Thane couldn't help but be interested in all that magic could do.
It was difficult to convince Olive to let Thane go learn, what with whatever made Olive stop using it (not even Savanna knows the whole truth), but eventually Olive allowed it. Thane's worried mother calls very frequently.

Thanks to her sea nymph blood Achilles has a sort of natural charm about her and long, lucious locks. Her eyes are a pale gray and always dead fish esque half lidded, and Achilles always looks as if she's zoning out. She has a perpetually smug-lazy look about her. Achilles is on the fairly slender/tall side thanks to a carefully regulated diet and training regiment. It isn't immediately obvious, but Achilles is nothing but muscle.
Her right leg seems slightly thinner than her left, and the foot is often in an odd position.

Achilles is the daughter of Thetis Myrmidons, the famous female lead on "A Number of Days." She was born into a show-biz family, surrounded by entertainment talents and even grew up alongside some. Thetis quickly put her daughter into show biz, knowing that while Achilles vision would soon recede her daughter's ability to simply draw attention (thanks to having sea-nymph blood in her) might give her a chance at a stellar career.
For a while Achilles starred as a child actress in "Trojan Tots", but after the show was unexpectedly canceled and her vision disappeared Achilles was forced to take large steps out of the mundane entertainment world at a very young age.
Achilles turned to a career in magick entertainment. With the power of her mother's name behind her, Achilles acting career recovered and began taking steady steps. Unfortunately just after she had grabbed the starring role in a highly-anticipated new drama, Achilles was involved in an accident that left her crippled and her co-star and then-girlfriend dead. After the death of Patricia Argonaut (otherwise known as Patroclus or Patty) Achilles silently disappeared from the public eye and the minds of those save for the most devout of her fans.
After waiting long enough that most people would have forgotten about her, Achilles is transferring to Merlin. Her goal is to get a fresh start and figure out a new career to excel in.
