Sherry tried, ok. She tried hard to be helpful and nice and likable. She was… just a bit quiet and still working out those silly insecurities she’d had for years. And as far as she was concerned Jake was a pretty great guy, even when stubborn. But she was glad he’d decided not to be too stubborn right at that moment.
“Okay! Catch this!” A box was tossed in Jake’s direction. Inside of it was one simple thing. It was a bandaid. Not a bandage, definitely smaller and had a paper back that would reveal adhesive when removed. Another one of the strange bandage things the techs had decided to give her. “Let me know how well that works!”
Really, there was nothing for Jake to be embarrassed about. She didn’t expect him to come out of this unscathed. That would be unrealistic.

He wanted to say he was ok, that he could take a few more hits, but he had promised her, and a promise was a promise. As she threw something, he only stared, hoping he wouldn't fumble and end up dropping it, or, that he'd even be able to catch it in the first place.
There was a bit of surprise when he did, but when he opened it up, Jake made a face. Really? She wasn't kidding. But if she said it worked...
With a sigh, he peeled off the protective paper, slapping it on his wrist. This felt stupid. There was a bit of humming, and though he couldn't see it, he felt as if the barrier regained some of its strength.
It's fine, thanks!" Ok, now back to the task at hand.

Sigh of relief. “Glad to hear it!” She’d have been angry if it hadn’t worked. If they could just keep consistent goods in her med kit it would be great, but no, bandages and bandaids…heck. She wouldn’t be surprised if next time they only left her with antiseptic or something. She hoped they wouldn’t. Healing was a good thing.
Taking the moment to glance back at the anchor, her worries faded a little more. They had this. No problem. Jake was doing fine, she wasn’t doing too terribly… “Jake! Careful!”
Moving titans were unpredictable from time to time.

Jake would probably be kinda worried if Sherry threw him antiseptic next. Wasn't that... kinda like rubbing alcohol? If anything, it'd be completely useless for open wounds... unless it was some sort of runic antiseptic that replenished his shield, but even then, something seeping runified sinking into his skin... the mere thought made him tremble. That, and the band-aid was probably bad enough.
"Don't worry, I've got this!" There was still residue electrical current bouncing back and forth the spines, zapping his barrier slightly, but it still managed to hold stronger. Hopefully long enough for him to take this thing down.
"Just a little more!"

Sherry would have shaken her head at Jake’s thoughts about runic goop on his skin, but then again she drank blue and slightly glowing wine from time to time. Maybe one day she’d offer some to Jake again. But not right now, especially not if that bandaid had worked.
“Okay!” She yelled back. “Make sure to keep an eye on your left! And watch it, this guy seems a little more active than the last one!” The titan liked to move. Nothing super fast, but still. Sherry had all the sympathies for Jake up there.
“Yes! We’ve got this! Just hand in there!” Everything still seemed to be okay, and now that one bandaid had been handed out successfully, Sherry could breathe a little easier. Huh. She hadn’t even realized she’d been that worried before.

Perhaps he should tell her that drinking glowing runic wine was something quite worrying also, or, he would, if he had actually remembered her doing so. Considering each memory had been made fresh again, there hadn't been a time he had seen her drink from the flask. Or had he? Even now, what had and hadn't happened often blurred together as Sherry told him stuff of what once had been. Even now, he wasn't sure what to make of most of the things she told him had happened, but he had no recollection of, but it didn't seem like she'd have a reason to lie... right?
Whether or not this titan was more active than last time, he didn't know, but for his and Sherry's sake, he sincerely hoped not. He didn't want a repeat of last time... for either of them.

Sherry could understand that worry, and maybe in the beginning it was part of what kept her from drinking from the flask all the time. Now it was simply the fact that she didn’t need to run around drunk. But Jake didn’t need to worry, if she ever offered it, she’d very clearly tell him what it was. Because yes, Sherry had no reason to lie. So far, the truth had been working just fine.
Even if the truth really made no difference to their titan friend. Lumbering oaf that it was. “Jake! I think it’s building a charge again!” It almost didn’t need to be said, considering the fact it was always building a charge. She just meant that she could see things sparking again.

A drunk Sherry would probably be a very worrying thing, perhaps because he didn't know Sherry was a happy drunk, but a happy drunk was probably better than a violent one. He... definitely didn't want to piss Sherry off... a good chunk of the time (that slap had hurt). If she ever offered it to him though, he'd probably just wrinkle his nose in distaste and refuse. Honestly, it was already an improvement he was willing to use bandages when needed now and USUALLY didn't turn down an infirmary visit when required, but drink weird abnormal runic stuff? No thanks.
Jake sighed heavily, not bothering to look for the source. He just needed to focus on hitting it. It was already down, and his shield could surely take several more hits, so what was an extra shock or two?
With a grunt, he slashed away another spine, revealing a weak spot. "I'll take it down with the next strike! Prepare to run!"

Jake had made huge strides in his stubbornness, and Sherry was happy to see this. She knew it would make Chester happy, when he returned. And Jake didn’t have to worry. Sherry wasn’t the type to have a drink to celebrate, or anything.
“Okay!” she replied again. The beast certainly was far more sluggish than it had been earlier, though it’s lumbering had yet to stop. Tethers were a wonderful thing.
And a thing she’d have to retrieve before they ran. So, Sherry edged her way closer to the anchor. When the time came to disengage, she wanted to be out of there as soon as possible. Exploding Titans were never very fun if you were too close. Nope. Sherry intended for both of them to be well away from the blast radius when this was done.
“Take care of it!”

That was good, because Sherry probably didn't want to see him drunk.
"Ok, make sure you get far away!" Really, he didn't want a repeat of last time. He just had to make sure he got away fast enough, and that Sherry wasn't caught in the crossfire. Of course, last time had been entirely his fault. If only he hadn't plunged his artifact so deep, and hadn't fumbled in pulling out the infusers and cords...
There were a lot of things he could have done differently, and a lot of things he wished he could have changed, but there was no use regretting what was done in the past. What's done is done, but that didn't mean he couldn't learn from it.
With a quick stab from his artifact, making sure it wasn't too deep, the infusers seemed to kick in, and the titan's movement more rigid, but definitely aggravated.
"Run!!"

“I plan to!” It was really the only plan. Part two of that plan was making sure Jake got clear, too, but she’d worry about that part later.
She almost didn’t hear Jake’s call to run over the roar the beast let out, but she didn’t need to. She’d seen this enough to know what was going on. Grab runic anchor device, get it to let go of the ground, and carry it off into the sunset. Easy as one, two, three, if one was lucky. Today must have been her lucky day, because the gear did exactly what she wanted. Fantastic.
Sherry ran. A glance or two over her shoulder were spared for Jake, but that was the only reason she had to look back. Distance was her friend today.

Alright, it seemed Sherry had gotten away just fine. Now it was his turn.
With a grunt, he pulled out the cord, and quickly grabbed his artifact as he prepared to head off too. With the titan becoming volatile, he really didn't want a repeat of last time. "Sherry, no matter what happens, keep away until the titan has disintegrated!" He knew she probably wouldn't listen, but if there was a repeat of last time, he'd rather not drag her down with him. He couldn't risk her health for his sake.
And so he pushed off the titan, praying for the best, but expecting the worst. Thankfully, he didn't have to worry about the latter as he got out of there without too much trouble.

Sherry might have nodded at Jake’s request. Maybe. As a sign that she’d heard him, and most certainly not as a sign that she intended to do any such thing. If Jake ended up in trouble he could bet his artifact that she’d be running right back in to try and get him out. Nothing he could do would stop her, either. She’d done it before and she’d do it again. Never again would she stand by and let people get hurt and die, especially not Jake.
A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she saw that Jake also seemed to clear the blast radius. Willing to run back was one thing, wanting to was another. She didn’t really want to have to rescue him, so she was glad she didn’t need to.
“Nice work,” she called with a smile, huffing and puffing a little as she said it. Another titan down. Not too shabby. "I think that we pretty quickly."

A little out of breath, but certainly pleased with the outcome of the patrol, he nodded, hand on his chest as he was panting. "Y-yah, I think that was our best run so far." Well, it certainly wasn't their fastest, but definitely best. If only he didn't get KO'ed during that last one...
After such an ordeal, he knew Sherry probably wanted rest, but, maybe... hopefully...
"I don't suppose you want to try tackling another one later?" After all, practice DID make perfect, and they had fought enough to get the hang of this by now, he hoped.
"I think we fought enough to get some better titan gear too, so it shouldn't take as long to take them down."

“Agreed. Best.” A few more big breaths came and went. It was a rather large relief to have it over with, to not have to worry for a moment or three about whether or not they going to be alright.
An eyebrow was raised at his question, but purely in a quizzical sense. “What did I tell you before? We can do another one.” Sherry smiled. “Really? We should check that out. Better gear is always a plus.”
Straightening, the trainee raised her arms in the air and stretched, aware of a bit of tired tension in her neck and back. Nothing to worry about, but something to remind her not to hurt herself. “Taking these down is almost routine at this point.” Another grin. “How soon is ‘later’?”
