After the last loss, Serafina was a bit crushed. She knew she had done better than the average for her team, her score coming in at a rather stunning thirty-nine. That wasn't bad at all for a quiz with questions she had never necessarily been taught about at school!
But that didn't really matter.
What she should have done was better, so they could have been comfortably in the lead like those damn Undead and then they wouldn't have this horrible problem.
Where she actually had to try in the tug-o-war.
Serafina gulped.
She was never good at this strength thing. Speed? She had that. Charm? Sure. As a kuchisake-onna that was basically defined in her natural abilities. But strength? That was comical. Whenever she needed to climb she just levitated or blinked up instead. And she was absolutely horrific in physical education.
But for her dorm, she would set her feet square and yank as hard as she could.
Unfortunately, that still wasn't very hard.

Still in the process of recovering from her ghastly quiz incident, Sulmanon stepped up and grabbed a fairly normal looking section of rope. Knowing that there were other monsters stronger than her, she did her best while trying not to reopen her wound. After ghost's devastating drop from first to last, Clara was determined to help ghost dormitory win first. First round shouldn't be hard, right? As long as they didn't place last....

Monty grabbed the rope and closed his fingers around it making sure he had a firm grip, there was no way he was letting that thing go... as long as the fire didn't get to close. He planted his feet and gave a few good pulls of the not paying attention to all the wire, glass and slime that was covering his hands. He took a look around to see his dorm mates pulling just as hard as he was, there was no way that we can't win this he thought. Tug-o-War? Tug-o-War! The hellhound excitedly bounced in place as she noticed that it wasn't just a regular game of tug-o-war. It was a five-way game between all of the dorms! Unfortunately, this game didn't quite appeal to TK's strengths like the previous events had. The quiz had certainly been his strength, and his speed wasn't horrible (plus a bit of luck had given him a decent run through the obstacle course) but strength? A bag of bones like himself could only be so strong, even if undead were known for deathly grips. Well, he supposed he would have to see if luck was on his side today.
He carefully rolled back the sleeves of his jacket before taking up a piece of the rope. Noticeably, most of the undead were taking extra care to avoid the bits on fire, which was reasonable. Taima's strengths didn't lie in--well, actual strength, especially in her small, skinny humanoid form. It became that much more obvious when she picked up one end of the rope, pulled as hard as she could, and, somehow, immediately lost ground. Why is it always mud?Rhiannon stared at the rope, unsure of wether or not she should even be participating. Just look at her! Did they honestly think that she could pull hard enough to even help? Maybe she should turn back... "Come on! We gotta go, the event's starting!" She was nudged toward the rope by an over enthusiastic boil, ending up between him and a strong looking ghoul. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. She wielded a staff for Sally's sake, she at least knew how to hang on. They might have a chance at winning! ... She hoped. Kemnebi carefully placed her hands around some of the broken glass and prayed the rope wouldn't be jerked too hard. She had placed herself behind a tall, muscular monster, so the likelihood of her hands getting sliced should be pretty low. Still, the mud could cause her to slip, or another student might try something. Because she was worried about it she didn't hold the rope in as strong a grip as she'd like and she didn't pull as hard as she'd wanted to either. From first to last place it was humiliating...
Was there even a chance for them to win? Eira frumped a bit, before looking down at the tortuous rope. If the rest of her dorm was going to try she was too. She just hoped they weren't the first to be kicked out. She definitely wasn't the best out there, but she also wasn't the worst.

Danny was born ready for this challenge. She never read books she didn't study- of course the quiz was going to go poorly. But tug-o-war? TUG-O-WAR?? Danny did this kind of thing for fun.
She picked a nice spot on the rope (it was on fire! even better!) and tightened her grip. Demons hadn't been doing so well the past few events- if they didn't take this one they could be out for good!

Lock could care less about this competition. The quiz had been interesting and educational in some places- he liked that. He was relatively indifferent about these feats of strength though. He knew he was a weak little underground kid, and that wasn't going to change any time soon.
Voodoo was sitting on the line, right on top of some barbed wire (being shadows, it didn't hurt her). Of course all the upperclassmen had taken all the good spots on the rope, so he'd been subjected to the terrible leftovers. With a wince, he grabbed the rope with a very loose grip to avoid injury.
"Come on reapers, tug tug tug!" Voodoo cheered, "Sweep them under the rug rug rug!!!!" She was rather ecstatic about this whole festival. Having the time of her life, really.

Amrita rolled up her sleeves - rather, she pretended to, as she was wearing a sleeveless vest - and stretched, flexing her hands and popping her joints to loosen up. When she was ready she joined the line on the undead side, grabbing the rope and pulling with all her might.
