Exodus looked at Anastasia, a frown crossing his stoic expression as he walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her. Exodus didn't know if it was appropriate for the situation, but he knew that Ana was feeling frustrated by the difficulty considering her natural physical limitations. He hoped to give her a lesson without cluing in the fact that he was trying to comfort her. "If you ever get tired, just wrap your arms around your enemy, underneath their arm pits so they can't hit you. It may sound strange, but if your body is this close to them, if they punch you it will be weaker...if they even try to knee you it won't have much impact. Do this whenever you get tired, okay?"
Exodus let go of her and put both of his hands on her shoulders. "I know it's hard...stamina isn't something that can be built in a few days. The only real thing that I can do for you is show you, and that'll at least give you a fighting chance. So, please, you just trust me for now...I won't allow you to falter." Exodus backed away from her before sitting on the ground. "Back where we left off...sit on my stomach or between my legs and I'll show you the proper guard for whichever you pick. It's easy when you figure out just a tiny balance shift will give you all the strength you need."

She widened her eye when she felt his arms wrapped around her body. Turning bright red she wondered if he was hugging her. However when the embrace came with a quick lesson she felt embarrassed for thinking it was anything other than that. She did however feel a bit better when he held her. She quickly hid her embarrassment by elbowing his jaw and turned bright red. W-watch what you're touching! It's a million years too early if you think you can touch a Lady like this peasant! she said standing. She looked to him and blushed, I-I wasn't worried, if I work at it, my stamina will increase. You don't need to worry your puny head over it. she said.
She blushed bright red and shoved him down sitting on his stomach hard and looked down to him. Make it quick, I wouldn't want you getting any ideas. she said looking down to him. You fiend. Using sparring practice as a way to touch me. You're sick. she said pouting.

Exodus rubbed the back of his head, tilting his neck to the side until he heard it crack a bit...he had to admit, that one hurt. "I didn't do it because of that!" Exodus responded in surprise, Exodus rolled his eyes at her next comments, wondering why fate thought it'd be nice to pair the two of them together. "I would never. As long as you're learning..." Exodus said quietly as he pushed up from his legs, making himself basically a ramp as he tilted Anastasia forward with enough force to make her fall towards him. He'd wrap his hands around her forearms and roll over to the side, once more flooring Ana. "That's the result of posting up with your legs. It doesn't matter how light you are, or how heavy they are, if you can move your hips even just a little bit you can throw them."
Exodus pointed at the both of her legs next. "See how I landed here? Just wrap your legs around at your opponent's waist and hold on tight for a guard...also...keep your hands near your face, don't let your enemy grab you by the wrists if they tilt you." Exodus placed his hand on his chin and thought for a moment before remembering what he was told. "You want to keep your guard close up to their chest to keep them from getting any strength in their strikes. So just wrapping around their waist isn't good enough. If you can get a tight grip around their neck with your legs do it, but only hold for a few seconds or they'll die from lack of blood flow to the brain." Exodus made sure to explain each step thoroughly, unsure if Ana was still paying attention or not.

She looked down to him following his instructions and tried to focus on what she needed to do. As if she could ever find a peasant like him the least bit attractive. A romantic partner? As if. He wouldn't even befit an amant in the least. She blushed however unable to let go of her shame and embarrassment. She did however focus on his instruction and did exactly what he asked her to. Managing to accomplish the move by lifting her hips and rolling him back until she was back on top.
I did it! she said her eyes bright and elated, her sense of accomplishment bringing back her bright and innocent smile. She let him go and stood on her feet. Let's try it again. she said ready to do it again. Sure she was still upset about being weak, however her victory was able to wash over her doubt and even thought she didn't like to admit it, Vincent being there and supporting her made her feel a lot better.

"Well done!" Exodus popped back up to his feet and dusted himself off. Exodus took his stance, nodding as she seemed to improve. "It doesn't matter how strong I am, or even how strong you are. This one is simply seeing who loses balance first. Take me off my balanced leg and the fight begins on the ground, and there's where you can win it all." Exodus explained, pointing at his throat since a fatal strike was always the first thing to do. Exodus was certain she'd grasped the throw part fairly well, so now it was time for a test...if she could pin him, he'd say she'd done well.
Exodus dashed forward, jabbing straight at her face. His normal tactic was just a bit of a sway of the head for a complete miss, but he wondered what Anastasia would do. Perhaps she'd emulate his move, or perhaps she could do something of her own, but Exodus' hope was he wouldn't have to hold back here. He could coddle her for a bit, but not forever...if she was going to seriously fight, he was going to seriously fight too after she got in her practice attempts.

Taking her stance Anastasia used her wits to duck under his punch and swing her foot behind one of his knees causing him a moment of imbalance. In that moment she shoved her body forward her shoulder hitting his stomach and knocking him down. Climbing on his stomach she placed a hand down on his shoulder and her right hand made the motion to take his throat. She was elated. Excited and proud of herself for doing so well. She was breathing hard at this point her stamina still very low but she grinned innocently. I managed to take you down. You weren't going easy on me were you? she asked breathlessly. She smiled down to him and then got on her feet dusting herself off. I think that's quite enough for now. she said stretching. I'd like to end today on a good note. Besides it's time to eat and I'm famished. she said.
Looking down to him she gently kicked his side, Come on, come on hurry up! she barked returning to her rude, foul mouthed demeanor. Since I did so well today be good and bring my meal to my room. she said walking off back to the barracks and smiled to herself, happy she was progressing so well.

Exodus shook his head when she asked if he was going easy on her. "The worst I did was refuse to go all out. I didn't throw myself on the ground, that was all you." Exodus propped up on his hands and hopped up to his feet, dusting himself off and crossing his arms behind his head. Anastasia was right back to being Anastasia, but Exodus didn't mind it one bit. "I suppose you earned it...I'll do it, but just one time." By time she was gone, Exodus got moving, going over the events of the day in his head. She was progressing rapidly, sure, but there was still her underlying stamina problem. A few sessions and it might go away, but at the moment it was a liability. Still, despite it being something he would normally do, he wasn't going to rain on her parade.
Exodus crossed his arms, a bit sore from having hit the ground himself once or twice, but it didn't bother him much at all. "Let's see...I don't need anything for myself, so I'll just forgo eating. Anastasia would need energy after burning out her stamina twice, so...maybe something sweet?" Exodus nodded; sometimes he forgot that food had to be rationed off constantly, so instead of allowing Anastasia to burn through her own supplies, Exodus could certainly give some of his. She worked for a victory, and he would treat her for it.
As soon as Exodus was finished, he was on his way. "She'd better not complain either..." Exodus mumbled under his breath, actually hoping she didn't. There wasn't much he could do for her without being wasteful, and a gigantic meal after training would just lead to some real pain. Either way, if it was for her...

Having returned to her room Anastasia took a wash cloth and a water basin and washed away all her sweat. Once she was clean again she pulled back on her clothes, seldom the jacket leaving her wearing her shirt and pants. She removed her eye patch rubbing her eye a bit before laying on her bed. By the time she heard someone knock on her door she rose and answered it, looking up to Vincent. Took you long enough. she said blushing and allowed him inside. There she gently nudged her pile of books aside and made room for him on the table she had in her room.
She managed to convince the commander to allow her to have one in her room for research. She sat down with him and looked to the food. Honestly, it only seemed like we have something decent to eat when I'm the one cooking it. she said not too pleased with her meal. She did eat however and sighed. She noticed however that she seemed to have more food than him. Are you not hungry? she asked raising a brow her one eye clouding in doubt, the other continuously milky white.

"Excuse me...I'm not exactly a professional chef. My father didn't teach me much beyond my chosen field." When she asked about his apparent lack of appetite, Exodus shrugged. "I worked half as hard as you, so I opted out of eating tonight. Enjoy yourself, you more than earned what you got." Exodus flashed her a bright smile, even in his state, he was hardly worried about himself. He'd said it to Anastasia one million times..."Back off." He didn't meant to say it like that, but Exodus said that line when he knew he'd worry about somebody else more than himself. It was something about him that was still human when part of him was purely a machine for fighting.
Exodus looked off to the side, his tired violet eyes speaking in volumes of what he didn't say. He exhausted himself going through both sessions without any rest, and further, having trained in the morning while he was alone. Exodus didn't know anything about energy, and as such, he didn't know that wasting it the way he did without trying to refuel was just asking for a shut down. "Figures...I can't do anything but fight. She already thinks I'm incompetent...I just proved that there's little else I can do. I can't even...speak."

She looked to him blinking, Were you the one cooking tonight? she asked eating. It's not horrible, I just like eating, and I like eating good food. So don't take it personally. she said softly. She frowned when he said he gave her some of his rations and pouted leaning forward and stuffing break into his mouth. I appreciate the thought, but it won't do if my instructor goes hungry. I can manage. she said. She ate her own meal and even when he offered his ration back she wouldn't have it. If you don't eat it, I'll throw it out. she warned blushing.
It was nice of him to do such a thing but she wouldn't have it. They would need you more than they would need me. she said blushing more and glanced off the to side.
Alright, food aside, tell me. Where are you from? Certainly not within Wall Sina. she said. Did you come from the center wall? she asked munching on her loaf of bread.

Exodus nodded, answering her question. He didn't respond for a while until she forcefully shoved bread in to his mouth, turning his face a bright red as he looked down. She spoke sense...certainly, as they ate, she asked him a question about where he came from, so he decided to answer. "No...my father was Stationary Guard, and is based in Sina now that he's retired. I come from the Trost District, but...you probably don't believe that with the way I look." Exodus was referring to the numerous scars covering his face and body...all were injuries from Trost.
"My story is boring though...my father was the abusive kind of guy you wish you'd never known. Still, he taught me everything I'm teaching you, so at least that's a good trade-off for such a poor life." Here he was now, planning to join the military for a revenge he'd never have. Maybe he was just running away too...Exodus didn't want to admit it, but no matter how many times he'd been beaten up, he took it every day and pretended like it was nothing. He just shrugged it off, refusing to go in to detail about himself, otherwise he'd depress Anastasia, or make her laugh at him. "What about you? Where do you come from, Ms. Ludenberg?" Exodus spoke formally as he was unsure what he could call her. "Why would a noblewoman like you abandon luxury for something like this?"

Anastasia looked to Vincent and her eyes darkened when she heard of how his father abused him. She listened to him silently, not once opening her mouth for fear she would say something to hurt his feelings. She looked to the scars on his face, as if it was the first time she had seen them. They didn't bother her before, because frankly, it didn't bother her. It was like her eye, it was something she had grown accustomed to.
Without thinking she reached her hand forward her fingers tracing along the scars on his face. These mark the struggles of your past. They are proof of your strength, and your pain. she said softly. Blushing a little she pulled her hand away and was silent for a moment thinking back to why she decided to enlist.
My name is Lady Anastasia Ludenberg of Wall Rina, Stohess District. You are free to call me what you like. she said perking a smile before it faded. My older brother Raphael, he is the heir to the Ludenberg fortune and name. I am just a second born daughter, bred to become the wife of some rich man, bear children and slowly wither away without a single purpose in life. she said. Even though I am afraid, and even though I am certain to die, I wanted to offer my talents to help humanity. I didn't want to live and die a life without purpose. I wanted to learn all I could about the Titans and even find some way to to destroy them. she said looking down to her hands on her lap.
I know how incompetent I am. How completely useless I can be. All I know are from what I read in books. I don't have any friends, and there is certainly nobody who would stick around me if I wasn't holding something to them. she said blushing her eyes pooling in tears without her notice. Exodus looked directly at her, surprised that she traced the marks on his face...he didn't know that she saw it like that, but he could see where she would. Even if they were all painful...they each said that Exodus found a way to survive. Where he would've been dead in some back alley in Trost, he somehow fought his way out and lived to see another day. He touched his own face, not knowing how to respond to her. Instead, he listened to her tale, and unexpectedly, Ana went in to detail about her own fears. Exdous stood up and walked over to sit next to her, a bit of uncertainty on his face.
"I'm surprised you would open up to a peon like me...in all reality, I'm just another military grunt that's destined to fade." Exodus, although shy in his action, cleared her tears before they ran down her face. "Don't cry...it'd ruin that elegant face of yours." Exodus' smiled was a comforting one...he supposed it wasn't going to hurt him to speak. "I know you don't mean to push people away. The last thing anybody wants is to be alone...this place is probably unfamiliar to you, and even then, bonding with another may have been out of your range. I'm not anybody special, but...I want you to know that you aren't alone. Just like with our sessions...you help me when I'm weak, and I'll do the same for you. Others will too...when the time comes, we'll all laugh and cry...fight and win together."
Exodus paused for a moment...if he was going to expect Anastasia to tell him what she really felt, he would have to repay her in kind. "Even if you didn't show it, you've been acting as my pillar the entire time I was trying to learn to ride Ezra. I was the same way...I could see it, even if I didn't acknowledge it as real. You wanted a closeness that just seemed too far away...it didn't matter with who, you just wanted that bond all humans cherish. It made me feel...weak, seeing myself wanting that same bond after trying so hard to push people away. I...I wanted to let my guard down, but I couldn't." Now he was, as he offered to be Anastasia's strength for as long as she needed him. "I...I'm sorry. I'm not good with words. I can't explain it well..."
Words were beyond him, but he offered her action where he couldn't speak. He took her hand in his, offering her a warmth that he'd never forgotten himself. The feel of another's hand in his...and of course, this spoke one thousand more words than Exodus ever could. "I'll be there for you...if you need my strength...or even the warmth of another, I'll give you what I have. I won't abandon you, no matter what."

Looking down to him as he knelt in front of her she blushed bright red and listened to him as he gave her words of encouragement. You knew this whole time? You knew I wasn't trying to be mean? she asked her tears falling. She listened to his encouraging words and his words of comfort. He promised he would be there for her and it made her heart feel light. She suddenly felt ike she was very thankful to have met Vincent. He was able to understand her on a whole different level than others have ever had. Not even her own family thought to speak to her like this.
She blushed as he wiped her tears and as he held her hand. She smiled to him, smiling warmly and intertwined her fingers with his. She pulled her hands away and wrapped her arms around his neck. Thank you. she breathed tears falling despite her efforts. Now she didn't want him to go anywhere. The reality sank in that tomorrow he could not be here. He could die...but then again so could she. She had just gained a precious friend and she didn't want to let go of him.
If ever you need me, I'll be there for you. I'll be your strength if you are mine. she said hugging him tightly. So don't you dare die. That is an order. Do you understand Vincent? she asked calling him by name.ＣＵＲＲＥＮＴ ＬＯＣＡＴＩＯＮ: Anastasia's Room

Exodus smiled at her question, knowing full well that she had never once been genuinely mean because she wanted to. Exodus' eyes widened in surprise as Anastasia was the one to wrap her arms around him. Exodus was somewhat cautious of connecting to people still, but he would do it for her. He embraced her, hoping that his words gave her a bit of hope in a hopeless situation. His eyes closed, and...despite him wanting to comfort her, Ana's warmth made him feel accepted where he otherwise wouldn't have been.
"I understand perfectly, Ana. No matter what happens...I'll keep on living until I return to your side." Perhaps it was a bit of an empty promise, but if believing it would give him enough strength to carry on, then he would make returning home alive every day his number one goal. Anastasia was important to him, and although he didn't care if he was killed defending anybody when he first came to join the military, he had more than enough reason to stay alive. Even if it was just to see a fleeting smile flash across her face, he would fight hard until his life came to an end.
He wouldn't, and couldn't lose to a Titan at this point. He wouldn't break a promise, and far be it from him to disobey a direct order. He gave Anastasia as much time to cry as she needed, having told her that he'd be there for her when she needed more strength than she had on her own.
