Edward "Edge" Morrison "The path to heaven is often lead through hell..." Muramasa: The Cursed Swordsman "The path of the sword is similar..." ↳I can keep fighting...can you? [Condition: Green]↳You will not surpass me! [Current Weapon: Long Sword]↳You will know your master, like it or not! [Rank: Corporal]↳Listen to the song of my soul... [Calm: Cross the Checkpoint]"If your path ends up leading you through hell..." Edward was horrified by what he saw the moment her back was visible. He jumped a bit when she turned to face him, but he saw that she was hurting worse than he was by just her eyes. Edward's eyes widened for a second when she moved to hug him, his breath caught in his chest...he wouldn't say she was going to kill him, but he wouldn't say that was far off from the mark either. He listened to her words, closing his eyes before speaking. "Asterid..." Edward wrapped his arms around her, listening to her sorrowful words. "Goodbye...? Wait...you can't just..." Edward couldn't find his words at all, and had trouble conveying everything he wanted to say to her. He heard her promise, but he felt so...far away. "I'm...not hurt. It doesn't matter to me how many times he strikes me. I...don't want you to go." Edward was practically in shock, seeing how events fell in to their places in a matter of seconds.
Edward loosened his grip on Asterid as he calmed down, he looked at her body and shook his head. "Hold still...I'm not much of a doctor, but I can at least apply the salve I use on my own injuries. You need it more than I do." Edward took both of her hands in his, far from minding the closeness, but forcing himself to focus on the issue at hand. "I refuse, Asterid. I absolutely refuse to let go of you. I'd let everything else burn to the ground around me before I let you go. It hurts me to even think about never being able to see you again, so please...don't speak as if this is the end." The urgency in Edward's voice gave way to softness. "You can share your burdens with me. I love you just as much as you do me, and at the very least, it can be only the two of us for as long as we're here." He stated as he kissed his lover as softly as he spoke. He spoke to ease her pain, and his worries at the same time. The moment the door opened a world of issues would flood in, but the door didn't have to open just yet...not when he could tell his dearest friend was suffering.
"Then it's only fitting you keep fighting until you find true nirvana..."

Asterid Sobbed as she brought her lips to his own.
" You..don't have a choice....."
She said swallowing, it felt like glass as she swallowed back tears her crimson eyes faded of colors, as they watered from the inability to contain herself with sadness. She loved Edward but she knew she could not have him , the wedding had been prearranged and gossiped about, she only could feel sorrow for the poor girl they had picked for him. It was all about status not for love it was all about a clean bloodline and to produce strong heirs. the window of the room was open bringing the autumn chill inside, but that chill did not make her move as she stood with him. With every kiss she poured her very being into it, closing her eyes and moving closer into his warmth as long as that door was closed nothing could bother them, fingers interlinked with his own, her other hand touching his cheek.
" do not worry about my wounds, they are only physical impressions and cannot compare to the true hurt i feel..why can't your father see love?...this end is the beginning for me.. i am going to prove that this improper girl, of low standing can be that polished gem he wishes to complete his bloodline..i am grateful of your love.. but now i must fight for myself..My real training begins soon....but for now.. your right...we are together" ++ † ++

[Gentle: A Pure Soul]"If your path ends up leading you through hell..." Asterid's sadness was almost physical to Edward, but...perhaps that was because he was feeling that same pain? She knew it too...it was a hated time, but it was also unavoidable. Damn it all...why did fate have to play its cards against him? He found his happiness with Asterid, but his father could only see things one way. Edward laid with her, hiding what he felt, but Asterid always knew him far to well to see that if he wasn't as strong as he was when she was near, he would've cried too. "I...understand. But for now, please...just be with me and me alone." Edward looked directly in to her eyes, her own sadness resonating with him. "I want to remember you...to memorize every inch of you. Allow to to take away your pain as best as I can." Edward intended to, at the very least, spend this one time with the person he loved most. A peaceful time together...for just the two of them.
_________________________________________________________________
Edge couldn't keep himself from laughing a bit about the past they both shared. There was pain, hate, and equal sorrow, but beyond it all there was compassion. Edge could see now after talking with Aster that he was far from the person he was so long ago. "You remember that story well. I'm surprised you took the time out to recall it with me." Edge noticed they were approaching her home, deciding it was almost time for him to return to his own after having such an enlightening conversation. "It seems like most of the laughing we did was because of stupid things I ended up doing back then...like striking myself with the pommel of my own sword when I threw it." Edge hated the memory of that moment, but he couldn't not share a laugh with Aster over the ridculous moments of their past.
"Well then...I shall leave you be, per your request. It was...fun." Edge shrugged, his expression was easily readable by Aster. He regretted everything that had transpired...he regretted the way he treated his son, but he didn't know how to turn back the clock. He knew very well it was impossible to fix anything, so the only thing he could do was keep moving forward. He had always envisioned moving forward with Aster by his side, but as far as he saw, that ship had long sailed in his case...it was a sobering thought, to have let go of the one person he held in the highest regard. "Farewell." Edge waved before turning his back to leave, as it wouldn't be right for him to take up any more of her time.

And so it was back to the present for Aster. She turned on her heel to look at him, " do you really want to return there?.. Edward..you made a promise to me.." her home was not luxury but was a small Tudor styled cottage, beside it a Apple tree with a few rotten apples, she picked one apple up to lob it at him in the same way she had done the first time she had tried to help him escape his father.. except that was above and she had pulled him into the tree with her. Aster did not want for Edge to go..in fact he was all she had left of any value " Don't go...please don't go" she said, the apple she had thrown had missed Edge and she found herself running towards him as she walked away , she trips on a stone clumsily and finds herself falling into him, as again the awkward moments ensued, Aster fell onto him and her lips mashed into his own . her eyes closed as if panicked her cheeks reddened , her only immediate thought was ~ s**t..this is actually happening!~ her eyes fluttered open and wide as she let out a moan, " Oww...your lumpy" ++ † ++

[Gentle: A Pure Soul]"If your path ends up leading you through hell..." Edge stopped moving the moment she asked him not to go...it was a very familiar line, and one he had asked her so long ago. When he noted something flying past his head he turned around quickly, but noticed that Aster was going to trip before she even knew it. By reflex, he was forced to cushion her fall, but her momentum carried them both to the ground. He didn't injure himself, but the speed of her fall made for an extremely clumsy kiss that caused him to look away the moment she spoke. "You're aim has gotten worse." Edge stated, for once in his adult age, embarrassed to look at her after such a strange happening. When the both of them were back on their feet, he rubbed the back of his neck. "Lumpy, huh..." He almost felt bad about that.
Edge placed his hand against her cheek and looked in to her good eye, for a moment, looking as he did when he was younger thanks to his reaction to Aster tripping in to him. "Are you alright? You ran in to me pretty hard." Through his concern, there was also a feeling of...nostalgia. He wondered if she felt it too, even if it was just for one second. "You're still the same as ever though...I remember what I promised you. I could never forget. If you want me here with you, then I won't abandon you...not a second time." A sly smile crossed his face as he remarked. "I can't let you hurt yourself falling in to somebody else's arms, after all." Surprisingly, Edge had joked with her.

Aster did not know what to say but her cheeks were red hot with embarassment and nerves as the past repeated. Although her looks had aged and she had lost sight in one eye nothing had changed in the way she felt about Edge, only that his actions and past choices had been what had parted them. now, though years later, they laid together in much different circumstances, " y--yeah i--i am okay...no panic.. my cushion saved the day.. what about you.. you're okay right?" she said with about as much concern as he had for her " yeah you couldn't let me fall into some other guy's arms, cause to you no one else is worthy right Edge?..." She kissed him and gave a light cough to get up and try to pull him up. " yes your lumpy.. cause of all that buff muscle you toned up...Well as corny as it sounds...do you want to come in side?" She flashed him a smile and pulled him in for a kiss " not letting you go until you give me a proper answer" ++ † ++

Edge was surprised that she, after all of this time, saw fit to kiss him a second time...this time it wasn't an accident. "I don't know if I'm still worthy of you or not, but I want to at least let you see me the same way as before. If I'm not worthy, I'll work until I become as such." Edge was surprised that she'd compliment him as well, or invite him inside now, of all times. Edge moved in to the kiss, naturally, as he'd been like this with her a long time ago. That bright smile of hers reminded him of all the times they did share, and how he loved every moment of it. Edge placed his hand on the side of her face, mostly brushing away stray hair that obscured her features. "I'll come, but only because you asked." Edge enjoyed the feeling of closeness with Aster...it was familiar to her, and even though time had passed, he remembered her distinct body next to his...she hadn't changed as much as he said she did.

This moment was precious to Aster. As passion and lost love warmed her heart with fires of passion, warmed her cheeks with pink and made butterflies flutter in her stomach, she found herself lost in the moment, it was as if time had stood still as Aster guided him to her home. Her home inside was pretty much the bare minimum to sustain her, for example there was no luxury to her home and no real glamor that stood out that anyone would really desire wanting to spend money on buying that house , it was small had only 4 rooms divided in two , the two downstairs was the kitchen with a dining table for two and the living room which was like a mini study, Upstairs the bathroom which did not have a working bath it was just a metal tub that you pour boiled water into manually a bowl .. and a toilet that appeared to to flush. The bedroom was a little more inviting, a wooden slay bed that was hand carved with animal furs strewn over, Aster Smiled as she invited Edge in and blushed " i know it isn't much but it is all i have left..." ++ † ++

Edge stepped in to Aster's home...he saw well enough that her assets needed to be divided pretty evenly when it came to her house. Still, it was something, and that was better than nothing. Seeing Aster's blush once again reminded him of days past...how long had it been since they were alone together? Edge wrapped one arm around Aster's waist and pulled her to him, an almost mischievous smile painting his face. "Thank you for the grand tour. Even if it's not as much as you want or need, be glad for it. One day soon you may not even have to stay here." Edge's tone was far from as harsh as it was earlier. "The question now, however, is why you want me here so late at night. Want to recall more of the past together?" Edge asked as he noted the beating of her heart in sync with his own. Edge let go of her and pocketed his hands with a shrug. "There's a lot we have to catch up on anyway. I owe you so many apologies, but I don't know how much it will change. Looking back...I was a fool for ever listening to my father. It led to almost losing you forever."

Aster felt like she was young around Edge. Everything he said or slyly proposed made her cheeks pink just as much as the day he first gave his vow that she would be his, that whole memory brought a smirk to her lips as sh turned to look at him with her good eye, " and of what are you implying, that i lured you here under the pretense to seduce you?..Edge..it isn't your fault i was the fool ..i refused to listen to you when you needed me most...." she said moving to be close to him " the past is no more.. let us focus on now.. the time we do have.. live for whatever time we are allowed..." she lent against him and moved to kiss him all her emotions released as she poured her love for him right in that moment. Night turned to daylight as the dawn came without warning, and there she laid within the arms of Edge as her eye cleared from slumber she looked up at him with a smile as he still slept with a serene smile. Aster felt her cheeks warm with pink, " E--Edge.. wake up.. dammit.. we are going to be late.. s**t s**t...sod and blast..." she said grabbing for the furs to leave Edge cold as she dressed. ++ † ++

His eyes snapped open when he noticed it was actually freezing! "Damn! Cold, cold, cold....!" That was not the way he preferred starting off his mornings...at all. When he noticed where he was he left the bed, rubbing the back of his neck with his right hand. Wasn't a dream...he was glad for it, but...damn it, why was it so frosty?! "Late for...? Wait...I remember." Edge returned to his normal attire, rubbing down his spiked hair. When he looked at it he could tell it was almost as unkempt as Vincent's...a clear reminder of something or other. Looking at the situation now...the good far outweighed the bad.
"It doesn't take that much to wake me up, you know..." Edge rolled his shoulders, making sure that he was one hundred percent for the coming morning. Edge kicked up a blade from the floor before sheathing it...it was something he carried everywhere, after all, just in case something happened. He knew quite well that there was never any real safety as the years passed by, but it was something he was starting to doubt. Each day his son came to see him, Edge couldn't help but listen to his words on how 'safe' he felt with another...it was an interesting way to look at things, but Edge was...entirely unsure.

Aster looked at Edge with a slight frown. She did not know what she were expecting as he dressed, she let out a sigh and replaced the eye patch over her sightless eye, he was still as rugged as the day she remembered, as he placed his sword on she gave a heavy sigh as if it marked the end of their time spent together and back to the routines of their duty. Aster just wanted to hold onto Edge and not let go, but it was a fools thought, last night was last night and this morning was another day..did Edge really want her? was it pillow talk, she could not be sure she decided then to keep quiet about it..if he wanted to pursue her heart, she damned as all hell was going to make him earn it. She loved Edge more than she was willing to admit to as her heart raced watching him dress, that tint to her cheeks enough to reveal she was taking him in. " i know.. but ..i i love you edge...." She indicated his blade " Don't you feel safe with me..do you trust me enough to be able to look out for myself..?" ++ † ++

Edge tensed up for a moment and stopped moving...he had expected it a bit, but it seemed as though he was at least somewhat able to restore his relationship with Aster. But...her question unnerved him. "Do I feel...safe with you?" Edge contemplated that question in silence and drew his sword. He placed it on the bed and sighed, walking over to Aster and placing his hands on her shoulders. "Of course I trust you to look out for yourself, but...how do I put this?" Edge sighed. "It's something I remember from our youth. I know well enough there's no such thing, but I don't understand why I feel so...different when you're right next to me. I really do feel like there's nothing left but us when you wrap your arms around me, but it frightens me...my duty dictates a need to never drop my guard."
Edge frowned looking at the ground with a confused expression. "Would if I could, I would stay with you for as long as I could just to feel as...safe as I do when we're together, but...the world refuses to let it work that way." Edge knew when he was younger he could care less what the world thought, but now as a soldier he knew he couldn't forsake even a single day of duty, no matter how much he wished it. The sword was simply another part of the job. "Ha, listen to me justify myself, but not making any other type of sense. I love you too, Aster...I truly do. You make me feel like I could never die, but the sword is just something I always carry. This is...just another part of the routine, it doesn't mean I don't trust you."

Aster looked at edge. To herself there was no other man that could even live up to his image nor to what she felt for him, Edge was to her a part of her weather or not Edge truly understood it, he was branded onto her soul like an imprint, never forgotten. As he explained to her his reasons her face softened to bring her arms around him , then pushing him away to gather herself would straighten his collar and tidy his hair up, " there.. a worthy man for my heart, you be sure to know if i ever catch you lowering your guard i will kick your arse so hard that our children will be born bruised by the blow" she blushed lightly having admitted her yearnings. She wanted to settle with him, in fact had been determined of that form many many years.. even when she wedded Ulf.. she never allowed the man near her, being it was a marriage all about land and status of the farming kind. She looked away wondering if that was even remotely possible, with the life she lived would that even be fair to raise a child into a world of uncertainty and diminished hope of survival? she tried not to think of it and focused on the present and the good things she had going for her, like the love Edge and herself shared, " well come on i want to get in a bit of exercise before we are separated by duty..besides you should not be so morbid.. i am not about to let you die.. especially when you keep beating me at cards!" she ribbed with a jester grin, " not only that how can you die when your memory i hold in my heart..." ++ † ++

[Gentle: A Pure Soul]"If your path ends up leading you through hell..." Edge tilted his head a small bit, but smiled when he saw Aster's innocent-looking blush after her assertion. "You wouldn't want them to begrudge you after they're born, right? You can attack me at a later date." Edge decided with that light tone of his as he caught Aster's assertion. He crossed his arms over his chest, the sly smile not leaving his face. "You'll get the peaceful life you're looking for. As long as we're both here, we'll both achieve the same happiness." Edge seemed assured of that fact, but he wasn't sure if she felt the same as far as the future was concerned. Edge always seemed to think the worst, but at times he couldn't help but hope for the very best. When she said she was looking for a warm-up, Edge rolled both of his shoulders for a second. "What'd you have in mind? I'll join you."
One consistent trait between his youth and now was his tendancy towards showing off when he didn't really have to. Everything was a competition, and if it helped him better himself then he couldn't resist taking a chance towards it. It was a trait he just happened to learn while vying for acceptance from his own parents...it wasn't a trait he was proud of either, so he called it a habit. Even then, he justified it because of his need to keep up with Aster. She'd let him back in to her life, so far be it from him to disappoint her by skipping out on something physical. Edge's smile softened as he watched her...he remembered the past simply by looking at her, and even with her injury, to him she wasn't any less beautiful. Her skin was marred, yes, but Aster was beautiful in more than just one way. In hindsight, he kept being reminded how much of a fool he was for letting her go.
Aster was right too...he couldn't think he would die or he really would. He had more than enough faith in himself and in Aster, so even though there was always a chance, he would never give his opponent that chance. There was a future waiting for them both, and he was determined to see it...no matter the consequences.
"Then it's only fitting you keep fighting until you find true nirvana..."
