Evan paused at Chel's outburst, bemused and unsure of how to proceed. "You didn't do that badly," he replied, "and what do you care what those assholes have to say? They were trainees too, once, and someday you'll be a fully-fledged hunter. It's just a matter of time. I mean, Prey--Peyton's been out of the pod a hell of a lot longer than you have, and you pretty much kicked her a** around. Things like knowing where to strike, when to strike, all of that--it comes with time and experience."
He returned her kiss with one of his own to the top of her head. "You'll get there. And we can absolutely go get ice cream now."

He smiled, brushing some hair behind her ear. "Well. You pulled through - both of you - and I'm proud of both of you for pulling out the extra bit of gusto. It's the hardest bit to find." Seriously, it was like when someone told you to exhale out all the air you had and you were like but I already did but then you secretly had all this other air going on and it was hard to tell if it was out or in or what.
Exactly like that.
"Well, you're both suns. It makes sense you'd both kick some good a**, eh?" he smiled, punching one fist into the open palm of his other hand in demonstration.
Still, she had.... uh..
"How many more rounds are there, Pey?" he asked quietly, fishing through his pocket to pull out a piece of the candy that Allen had sent flying everywhere to offer it to her helpfully.

Chel wanted nothing more than to scream that they didn't get it. It wasn't about losing to Peyton, it was about losing to Rep. Losing to her own expectations. She was tired of being new. She'd been here five months. She wasn't new anymore.
Yet everyone kept thinking she was. She was tired of it. Endlessly tired with getting coffee for higher ups and training against dummies.
She also knew if she said anything, she would be consoled with "its okay" and "you'll get there eventually." If there was one thing that had to be known about Chelsea, it was that she knew how to deal with situations like this. Overbearing parents and high expectation environments her whole life had led her to a wonderful stress coping mechanism.
By completely shrugging it off.
Bemused smile lit her lips. "Yeah you guys are right." They weren't. "I'll just have to train a little harder." She looked around, seeing that Milo had disappeared (or at least, she didn't see him). "Let's go cheer for Milo, eh?"

She leaned into the touch automatically, and her smile grew into a wide, incredibly pleased smile. She'd won, but the victory was slow to sink in. The implications of it were only really just now sinking in as he asked her how many more rounds were left and she realized, with a shock, that the next step was the semi finals.
<I am so proud of you, Halfpint.> Warrick all but purred, and Peyton let loose a quiet giggle, taking the offered candy and unwrapping it slowly.
"Only two more. Semi-finals are next." There was a distinctly giddy edge to her voice. "I made it to the semi-finals with a bum arm." She didn't sound as if she fully believed it, but was happy about it none-the-less. With a soft hum she popped the candy between her lips, sucking on it.
"Oh my God, this tastes amazing." How long had it been since she'd had anything sweet or sugary, let alone honest-to-God candy?

Solomon grinned as he unwraveled a piece of candy of his own to pop into his mouth, looking out into the sand - which Aren thrummed approvingly about - before looking towards the spectators who seemed to be getting ready to leave.
"That's a lot of fighting to still do." Solomon commented as he tried to keep himself from having too much of a 'candy in mouth' voice going on, but failing effectively. "We should go get somethin' to drink and I'll give you a shoulder rub or something." he offered.

Evan frowned skeptically at Chel's abrupt change in attitude, but nodded. "Lead the way," he said.

It was a lot of fighting, if she made it past the next round. She nodded, rolling the candy around on her tongue before tipping her head up so she could look at his face, or at least the part he could see below the darkness of the visor. His idea sounded wonderful, and she offered a smile in response before actually answering. "You're just full of wonderful ideas today, Mr. Secretary." From morning until now, it seemed like the day was stretching on infinitely, but there were definite highlights. Her head fell back against his shoulder, and she tipped it back enough so her face was pressed into his neck. He smelled like soap, light and powdery.

He laughed again. "Well then, we'll get out of thi'sand pit and head off to get some water and enjoy it and then I'll work all these-" he took a minute to massage his palms into her back to feel just how knotted up her muscles were" - out of your back and you'll feel like a new girl, promise."
The water and a nap alone probably would have done the trick, but the last thing you needed was to feel stiff during stunts and whatnot from Solomon's experience.
However, the first step was the hardest, as the sand was kind of nice to sit in.

She could have melted right then and there as he moved his hand over her back, working his palm into tight muscles. "Sounds lovely," she murmured, incredibly content. Though when he didn't move to get up, or even nudge her out of his lap, it made her wonder. "Do I have to get up for you to get up?" Cause she really didn't want to, but if it meant getting to where ever they were going faster, she supposed it was a reasonable sacrifice.

Matt stood up on the bleachers but didn't follow the rest of the spectators down to the battle ground. Instead he left the cheering up to what looked to be Chel's friends versus awkwardly standing there with them not knowing what to say. She didn't look all too happy, he couldn't blame her really but at least it was pretty close fight she should still feel proud about herself about that. Kasi replied as Matt shrugged his shoulders. Off to the finals!

He scratched his chin at her question about getting up.
"It's either that or build a makeshift sand boat we can slowly drag using way too much effort across the island."

Effort sounded like way too much work at the moment, though the idea of a sand boat sounded interesting. She frowned, then very reluctantly climbed out of his lap so he could get to his feet as well. "So what's our destination?" As soon as he was standing as well she'd reach out to lay a hand at his hip, not quite leaning on him, but close.

Solomon leaned on her shoulder as he hoisted himself up.
"Cafeteria. Since I'm just thinking water."

"Sounds good." He stood, and since she was still feeling worn out-- and maybe she also just wanted to. --She reached for his arm, looping her's around it as she curled her fingers around his wrist.
