Chazama was no less amused with the idea of a spar as everyone else seemed to be. Her ears pricked forward at the very mention of it, a smile beamed onto her maw. "What a wonderful idea", she'd chimed in to add her voice to the others. Surtak's comments about the red-pelts rolled over her shoulders for the most part, but it did stick out in her mind. After all, Chazama had taken it upon herself to train and spar with the Firekin up at the outpost before they had migrated last season, and now that they were back she planned on doing it again. The idea of 'claws-out' sparring made her gulp slightly, as she knew she would never want to do that with one of the red giants. Then again, Jasiri and Nguvu were male, they would be fine. They did this kind of thing all the time, right? She certainly hoped so. She didn't voice any of these concerns, as she had to admit, Chazama was kind of curious just who would come out on top.

A duel, hmm? They hadn't had this sort of entertainment since the last Kwa. This should be something of a spectacle she supposed and excused herself from present company to get a better vantage point of the growing scene. This was something she wanted to see. Not that Dina was particularly interested in sizing either of them up as potential mates at this point. Oh, no. She'd just gotten rid of her last litter, she wasn't interested in getting tied down to another so quickly. It was a shame none of her other daughters had gathered this day, she was hoping one of them would give her grandcubs eventually, and seeing a spar against two of the pride's males may have helped speed things along. Oh, well. Opportunities lost did not mean she couldn't enjoy herself.

Try as she might, Buna couldn't find a good reason to object to a fight between the two males. They werent abaholi, and not vital to the pride... Nahmba's enthusiasm was getting to her and she looked from one male to the other. Who would come out on top? It might be interesting to see them duel each other. Even... fun. And if one should be injured he was expendable...

"Yes," she said, "Let's see how well they fight."

Or would the yellow one chicken out?

((so sorry about the delay guys, I will post with Jasiri later today))

At the pleading sound from Matifa, Mhisani cringed a bit. She offered a sheepish look at the other lioness. "I'm sorry... I've just seen some unsavory pride practices between my old pride and here." She glanced at Jasiri, eyes flashing a bit. "One can never be too careful with new males coming in.." She then sat down, a grin spreading. "And I agree, Nguvu SHOULD duel Jasiri!"

Nguvu grinned, partially because he was glad to finally have some support from some of the lionesses, even if it was to see a duel.

The idea gave him a little twinge in his stomach, anxiety, excitement... It was hard to distinguish. There was no doubt that Nguvu had fared well so far in physical competition, but that was not to suggest he was unbeatable.

The large lion stretched himself out, looking from Mhisani to Jasiri in a serious of calculating glances.

"Perhaps, we should arrange an occasion to make sure that it is appropriate?" He didn't want to fight a potentially injured new Inselele. Nguvu was sure that a little hype for a few days within the pride wouldn't go amiss.

Jasiri didn't give Ukuthula any more name suggestions for future cubs, and he didn't mention that he was in fact named after his mother Jasira... The risk for a flea check seemed to be over, for now. There were too many questions for him to answer, especially when two or more females instantly gave their opinion on whatever question had just been asked. Everyone seemed to be able to agree that a fight between him and Nguvu would be great.

There was no graceful way to back out of this proposed duel, but luckily Jasiri didn't want to do that. He looked forward to the fight, or duel, or whatever. Claws out, sure. He wasn't certain what the term red-pelt meant, but from the way Surtak had said it he assumed he didn't want to be one. Perhaps slang for coward?

He knew how to beat someone up, and he'd got some practice getting beat up too. Hopefully actions would mean more than words when it came to impressing this loud and fussy group of females.

"I'm game," he said and grinned, "Whenever you are."

The way Surtak's tail snapped when Nguvu spoke indicated his disaste in waiting for a battle. The Umholi seemed as anxious as the females in the group to watch the males prove themselves.

Then, it could be argued he would feel little remorse if either of them did not make it through their scuffle.

"Tomorrow at sunrise," he ordered for them. "Sufficient resting time for a strong male." Surtak's muzzle remained neutral for a moment before forming into a smile as his eyes landed back on Jasiri.

If there was ever a moment Surtak looked smug, it was in this one.

The expression was gone as he turned his gaze to land briefly upon Wodi once more. "They will check each other for fleas."

His voice sounded final.

Nguvu looked from Surtak to Jasiri and flexed his claws gently against the ground.

Although he was a lion of reasonable size, and thus considerable strength, he didn't usually go looking for a fight. The incident with the crocodiles was self protection, although he realised it was probably an impressive feat. However the chance to finally show off and "prove his worth" so to speak, to his home pride, was an opportunity that he could not pass up. He also thought perhaps the duel would determine how Nguvu and Jasiri's relationship would form and progress.

He nodded, strands of his mane falling clumsily into his eyes until he whipped his head up and sent them flopping back onto his skull. He stood up and looked both males in the eyes before repeating Jasiri's words.

"Tomorrow at sunrise."

The pale lion turned and walked away from the group, holding his large frame as tall as he could.

Jasiri nodded as Surtak decided when this duel should take place. He could do that. The suggestion (or was that an order) that the two males should flea check each other wasn't as welcome, and he couldn't stop his ears from twitching back for a moment before he got them under control. Luckily Nguvo didn't seem inclined to check him right now. Jasiri's smile looked forced.

"We'll see if he gets close enough to see any fleas tomorrow," he said, in what must be the lamest retort ever. Why, oh why, had that horrible little female asked for a flea check in the first place? Just the mention of fleas made him itchy.

Buna looked at the males interacting, head cocked slightly to the side as she listened. She nodded, pleased that Surtak had made the decision on when and where this fight should take place. The brown lioness hadn't been that impressed when he first arrived, but the male was looking better and better. Perhaps it was the influx of pale maned Inselele making him look good in comparison. Perhaps it was the fact that his smaller than average size and strange accent didn't stop him from throwing out rogue males threatening them.

"They fight tomorrow at sunrise," she chirped, passing the news along to all females around her. They would have heard Surtak too, most likely, but she shared it in the event someone had missed the news.
