He spun the scythe again at that point, slicing through the thing again as it came, knocking it back once more before it could strike them.

And once more it was coming. Nope. He wanted no part of it. "Shoo!" And with that he managed to get a rather good strike in, cleaving down the center of the bird as it vanished into misty insanity leaving only a key that clattered to the floor below.

Before Olivia could turn around, it seemed Molan had a needing to beat a bird to death. And she just kind of stood there and watched. Yes, he had done that face, at least she had seen, from her picture but still she never minded his seriousness.
"Well, okay then," she found a giggle as she went to collect her picture again from where she had kept it safe.
Olivia made her way to Molan's side, glancing at the key he had found. "You do smile," she agreed from their earlier conversation before case of bird, "and I like it when you do too." It seemed like one of those rare special things to her, at least in her memory of him. So yeah, made it all the more special when she got to see it.

To reach the fourth floor, you must have the keys to open the locked door:
The Fourth Floor
A black door emitting tortured screams.
You learn a new thing about yourself: if this were a survival horror scenario, you'd likely be among the first to die. The chamber is aggressively dim despite the multitude of torches that attempt to light it. However, you're perfectly able to see the impressive array of torture devices and instruments of pain that litter the room. It's a bit of a mess really.
A pained cry comes from somewhere in the clutter, "I'm here! It's me, Bloodraine! I was just...cleaning my beloved maiden, and she swallowed me whole." A dreamy sigh followed by a whimper of pain follow. "C-could you be a bro-lder and help me out?"
You've lost count of how many glinting spikes and blades are waiting eagerly to maim you.
"I'll make it worth your while?"

Collect 3 clues! Roll 1d10 1: you narrowly miss a pendulum blade 2: you notice fresh gravel on the floor, you've found a CLUE 3: you fall into a pit of spikes, causing you to lose a fourth of your full health 4: you narrowly miss getting a hot poker in your eye 5: you notice that a rack it suspiciously splintered, you've found a CLUE 6: you lean against a wall, which flips over, dropping you into a pit full of broken glass, causing you to lose a fourth of your full health 7: you nearly sit on a spiked chair 8: you get caught in a stockade, it's somewhat embarrassing 9: you shout, "MARCO!" and Bloodraine shouts back, "WHAT?" When you finally find the iron maiden and get Bloodraine out, the gargoyle is blushing in a mildly disturbing way. "Thanks! S-sometimes she gets really affectionate, especially when I start to polish her...you know...hinges." It giggles and then gropes around the inside of the torture device, eventually pulling out a black key that's only slightly moist.

Writing Prompt:
The door opens and you're greeted with the somewhat dismal view of purple sky and lilac clouds. A huge window takes up nearly an entire wall, but it's a bit wasted on the island's total lack of landscape. Sitting slumped on a stool, a slumped gargoyle sighs, "Not much to see today, I'm afraid." It looks away from the window and over to you, perking up slightly, "Oh...oh you're new here, aren't you? You've...you've been places right? Seen things?" Leaning forward, eager now, it continues, "Say do you think you could share some of them with me? You won't be sorry, I promise! Just come over to the window and touch it!"
Once you make contact with the window it shimmers and snaps into a new size and shape, a familiar one. Outside, the scenery has changed to a window view you once had in your former life. It could be a view you cherished, or one you took for granted, or even one you loathed. Beside you, the gargoyle sighs happily at the sight. "That's marvelous, I never get to see anything like that. I think I'll keep this one for a little while, thank you!"
Carefully it places a black key into the palm of your hand before turning back to the window.
A blue door, you can hear a voice much like your own talking behind it.
The inside of the room is filled with fog and whispers. Near the center you find the mirror, a soft glow pulsing within it. The mirror cracks and shatters, the fog around it taking on a more humanoid shape. Before you stands another version of yourself, one that had awoken out of the fog of Insanity without memory or a true name.

Molan just felt he had taken enough hits to his manly points. Killing things was manly, right? ...okay not really. Whatever. Moving on.
He paused as he waited for her to collect her picture, ears briefly perking up as she started speaking, before dropping a bit bashfully again as she finished. Ah... well.. then it was good. And back to staring off to one corner a bit as he walked over and nodded. "Right... let's go." He held out his hand once more, figuring she'd prefer it as they made their way up the stairs to the latest lock and opened it.
The new area wasn't so bad, until he froze at the sounds coming from one door. He stared at it in silence for a while before looking to Olivia, then back at it. "We're not going in there." Was all he stated, carefully walking over to avoid it. Though, they should check the others. He paused to stare at the door with the light a moment before nodding. "I'll... check this out. Stay here." He offered a very small smiled at that, which quickly faded to worry at the sound of another drawn out sobbing howl of pain from the room.
Yea. No.
"I'll... be back soon." And with that he turned, slowly making his way to open the door that had light at it's base.

Olivia had no objections, though truth be told she was a little curious what was behind the screaming door. Her eyes lingered on it for a moment. "Oh, alright," there was a little disappointment in her tone but she would comply.
His next request though, she frowned for a moment. She was being told to stay, and although she was a little tired and thinking a nice sit would be very welcoming (if only her HP could be recovered by doing so and all), she didn't want to be terribly useless on this trip. But he was gone before she could object.
so, Olivia sat herself on the floor. She had the notebook in hand but then soon realized she hadn't brought the crayons. crying

He opened the door lightly, stepping in, and then closing it behind it. Just in case this one too was dangerous. Then he paused at what he saw. A lone gargoyle was sitting, staring, bored out of a window. As if nothing good ever came from it, as if it never changed. He slowly moved in a few more paces until he seemed to notice him, pleased as it spoke up. "Perhaps." Was the only reply he offered, moving closer as it continued to speak.
It just wanted him to touch the window? That seemed safe enough. He nodded briefly before lifting a hand to press against the glass, the image instantly changing to something almost bristling with the ice along it's outer edges.
Snow fell endlessly on the scene, thick flurries as it drifted down to land upon the heaps that already lay on the ground. Trees, some filled with pine needles, some barren, dotted the landscape surrounding a lake, frozen over in a sea of pristine blue. The sky was covered in thick gray clouds, still dense with what could only be thought to be more snow to come, and a road could be seen rounding off to one side. Near the base of the house, or perhaps one should say tower, a greenhouse, seeming out of place, sat. Within it was the only real color to be seen, a few brighter shades evident through the glass that could be seen through the snowfall. What outdoor furniture was visible was elegant looking even in it's half buried state. It wasn't exactly light out, what with the thick cloud cover, but it still seemed so bright with all of the snow dotting each potential surface it could.
It seemed as if nothing would ever melt in such a world. Perhaps it never did. A beautiful sight, one that could see all around it from a floor up from the ground. Too bad he hadn't no idea where it was...
He moved his hand away, watching it a moment longer even as the gargoyle spoke. He'd keep it for a while? Well... that was fine. His eyes swapped back from the thing even as it handed him a key, once more lingering on the vision in the window. Peculiar...
"Thank you." Was all he offered as he took the key, pausing another moment before starting back out to where Olivia should have been waiting.
And thankfully, she was. Still sitting on the ground and looking at a notebook, but doing nothing else? He closed the door behind him as he held up the key, proof of his success. "It was... rather simple." He offered, starting back over to her.

It didn't take that long to wait for Molan, but Olivia was about to doze off, still sitting up. But the click of the door alerted her of his return and her eyes snapped open.
"I forgot the crayons," she told him as he entered back into the main room. "Well, that's good." That meant he wouldn't have gotten hurt. Perhaps a simple room like the last one she had been in.
So, Olivia got herself up along with the notebook and joined Molan. And then looked at the blue door.

A look of 'oh' showed on his face at the mention of forgotten the crayons. "How... regrettable?" She was really a bit childish at times, wasn't she? Not that he disliked it, he just found it amusing. He nodded as he brushed off his sleeve at the mention of it being good. Simple things were... yes, always for the best.
He then paused, a few steps away as he noted her gaze, following it to the blue door. "I suppose so. Another beast like the other colored rooms?" That was his thought anyway. Either way, they needed to go in there.
"Ready?"

"Hopefully," she replied to him as she put her hand on the door knob and pulled.
"A mirror," she commented after. Was this going to be like the first door where they battled some weird version of themselves. Olivia stepped inside to allow him to look. Gaining further entry allowed her to hear the whispers and notice the soft pulse of the mirror itself. The girl stared at it in wonder, what could possible come out.
Eyes were wide as the glass shattered and for what finally did. Grey figures, familiar in shape and silhouette to their own with pulsing yellow hearts.
"Oh... wait..."

He started after her, staring quizzically at the mirror a moment. No, it was going to be like before... was it? He slowly stepped forward, edging closer along with Olivia. What version of himself would come? He was certain something-
Then it was there. He paused slightly at seeing his other, old self. A fragmented grey thing with only a gold core stepped out along with Olivia's. What a bother. And then they attacked.
"They don't plan to." He stated, his scythe once more in his hand. He'd deal with... himself?
And then he barely nicked himself, instead having to block the swing.

He shook his head. It had been them, but also... not. He never looked that dead, did he? That twisted. He shook his head. "No."
He stated it simply, even as the other form lashed out at him again, and then brought up his scythe, once more sending the thing stumbling backwards, this time with a heavy gash along it. "I was never that empty." Or so he liked to think.
