The road ahead was getting bumpy. As the alpaca tried to keep itself righted, and Robert tried not to fall off, some of the little shreds of paper he'd written to remind himself of who he could call for help fell out of his pocket and fluttered away.
It was all right, though. He'd spelled Ursula's name wrong, anyway.

There was a point when even Robert knew the alpaca couldn't handle another step forward. So he hopped off of it, and for the last stretch, he picked it up and carried it on his back, instead. He and ******** had a hard won, slow to grow bond, but by now, he owed the damn thing a lot - probably his life. So he was going to take care of it.
For a little while.
When they arrived at whatever destination they were meant to get to, he slowly slid the alpaca off his back, and set out some food and water for it. He pat it on the head, and left it be. "That'll do, ********." He murmured affectionately. "That'll do."
Only a few steps in, and he could already feel the blessing coming down on him, filling him with sweet completeness. He waited for the memories to come.. but they didn't.
He opened one eye, and waited.
Nothing.
He opened another... and stared..
Dear Jack in hell, you are SUCH A ******** IDIOT. Robert dropped to his knees, clutching his head as the voice pierced his mind. Now, the memories came flooding back. The first time he'd heard her voice. The way she felt in his arms. The sweet, seductive touch of steel. And the sting of sharpness; not her blades, but her mouth.
