From shadows
We'll descend upon the world
Take back what you stole
From shadows

Nyru Statem

Nyru had never realised he had scared her so much, all this time she has that defensive front and even he almost forgot about it. But then she tried to man-up as you could call it, pushing the emotions aside. He didn't reply at her first comment of being tired, he just stared down at her, and then chuckled at his weight comment. Taking a step back he placed his hands on his hips and said "I think it's all this armour, actually" but then she demanded a help getting back. With almost a humorous sigh he placed his helmet back on his head, trying to ignore the crack.

"c'mon then" he said as he held out a hand. "I would offer you my back, but i doubt that's a very worthy fashion for you" he joked.

Above the darkness and the shame
Above the torture and the pain
Above the ridicule and hate
Above the binding of our fate

When it started
All we wanted was a chance to live our lives
Now in darkness
Taking everything we want and we will rise

The blonde laughed and shook her head. "Sure, it's the armor." She walked up to him, and took his hand, but before could do anything she stood there stiffly. "Nyru, I know I said this before, but even though I act stuck up or something along those lines, I do care about you. Never forget that I will always be there for you just as you are for me." Her smile was genuine as she loosened, and waited for he partner to carry her weight. Actually the only armor she had on was on her legs, and even then it was light armor. The male shouldn't have to tough a time, however, if he made a fat joke his flawless face was going to receive a red mark.

He didn't have to give it much thought, he coudl almost guess what Claudia was about to get at. Raising a brow behind his helmet he silently chuckled, he diidn't give his reply much thought either when he almost comically said "i know". He then proceeded to take it upon himself to carry her, it wasn't too hard. Slightly cheesy, but he felt like being nice. Then half way back he quietly asked, looking out into the ruin "You remember them old poems they used to tell us about to scare us before bed? I wonder if the Darkness Will Come?" almost with a tad of humour to his speech. Some of the guilds old child stories used to speak about when the Darkness Comes, or of how the Darkness Is Coming. Of coarse it was all a little silly, but he did like to wonder that some stories could come true.

Claudia wrapped her arms around his neck to support herself. He replied even though he didn't have to, she could tell what he was going to say just by his body language. Half way there he brought up the memories of the scary poems elders told them. Now that she thought about it, it was a way to mentally disturb them from ever leaving the walls of Shade. A little cruel in a way, but after a while you shrug off the stories. "I never thought much of them until now. It feels like the darkness already came." She said, looking at the remains of the war.

Ruby woke under a tree and stood up. The first scent that traveled into her nose was the very faint smell of blood. Even though it had been days sense the battle between demons and Weathermancer, the girl knew there had been some kind of battle. She followed the scent until she ended up near the boarder of the city. Most of the bodies had been deposed of, but the ones that were left started to decay. It was the open air, and the fact that the demons didn't belong on the surface to being with so their bodies decomposed faster. The albino stepped over a pile of Scarred, and there cause of death, an arrow to the chest. Other bodies were fried like they had been struck by lightening.

How could this had happened? All the events that happened happened to her and her companions so far is closely connected. First the team was attacked, then the island, afterwords Entei, and now Shard. Was a huge war getting ready to start or...Ruby's train of thought was interrupted when the thick root arose from under the earth. The root wrapped around Ruby and squeezed her tightly. The root was constricting her which started to make her feel lightheaded. Her arms were hugged so tightly to her body that she couldn't reach for her weapons. Splitting up was a bad idea. She wished Laxion and Alexis were there to save her.

Horad Caiin

Walking amongst the outskirts of the city, Caiine heard the struggle of a young girl nearby, what on earth could it be? Pulling his old body along with his staff as support he came to the old battlefield, almost clear of its pestilence, he then noticed, to his horror, a girl in struggle with a large vine. Why... why would something of the Circle's command be attacking this girl?! She looked nothing akin to... Demons. This soil was tainted! It was obvious, the scar of black dirt along their warpath symbolised it!

Heavy-breathed his ran over to the girl, vane wrapped tightly and flailing her around like a toy. It constricted like a snake, and at first Horad wasn't sure what to do. And then he remembered something from his travels... Horad was one of the first, and from his old beliefs he felt fifty years younger. Narrowing his brow he shouted "heeeyah!" with an old croaky throat as he thrust the bottom of his staff into the vine. Like a ripple from where he attacked it, the vine stopped moving and became motionless. Breathing heavily he crouched over his staff and said "Quickly my dear... pull yourself free and i'll get you to safety!" as he then looked up and gawped.

It was a very familiar face, one he hadn't seen for a long time, since the days when even he, Horad Caiin had forgotten his own descent.

Ruby was being flailed around as everything started to become a blur, even the voice that called out to her. She closed her eyes and felt the vine vibrate then suddenly become still. The albino struggled to freedom gasping for air. She rebounded off the vine and landed next to an old hunched over figure. The danger of the situation still held her attention so at the moment she wasn't able to look at the man's face. Yanking his staff away from the root, she wrapped an arm around him to support his fragile frame. The young female lead him away from the root and to safe grounds.

The albino continued to breath deeply as if her lungs would suddenly collapse on her. Finally, she was able to thank the Caiin for saving her. When she stared into his wrinkled face her smile slowly faded into confusion. She dropped his staff and backed away shaking her head. Was she seeing a ghost? "E-Elder? Your...how...I thought..." Tears stared to form in her eyes, and her mouth remained agape. She recognized his face anywhere, whether it was real or not was yet to be confirmed.

As she took him to safety he was continuously recounting the same thing over in his mind, over and over. He had never thought he'd see the young girl again. And it was only a short amount of time until she would notice too, how she'd react was going to be the most revolutionary, would she even remember him? Much to his surprise however, she did, and was more confused than he.

He then calmed himself down, and with the supreme knowledge he holds he said "There are a great number of things you may have thought, my dear girl"

Ruby shook her head as tears streamed down her cheeks. "It doesn't matter. Your alive and we can be together again like old times." Things had changed since then and now she had friends that needed her as much as she needed them. Maybe history cannot rewrite itself, not this time. Still, she could just enjoy the time she has with him for now.

She walked up to him and wrapped her arms loosely around his frail body. The girl breathed in his scent and he smelled like nature. Could he have been living in the woods or somewhere near that kind of surroundings. She sobbed like a small child able to let go of him because she had already lost him once, but never again.

She was so happy to see him, and ofcoarse he was happy to see her. These days he had regressed his memories of those days to the back of his mind, hoping that the young girl had gone far in life. He laughed quietly to himself, placing a hand on her shoulder as she carefully held him. "My dear... come to my home, tell me everything you have endured. We have much to catch up on" he said with a graceful smile. He then began to lean over in the direction down one street leading to the coast. For an old man, he still had that will to venture on.

Ruby agreed and followed the old male to his home. She had so much to tell him, but had no idea where to start. The last she saw him was when the Headmaster of Hope academy took her in under his wing. The albino slipped his arm around his just like old times. She could wait to hear about his life journey so far.

When they finally arrived at the city, they were staring up at the great spires that pierced the skies like daggers. There was one much larger spire in one place particularly. A few people walked around the city, but it was calm, those that did were either elves in cram robes or other races who seemed to be simple citizens, or archers, or druids, that sort of thing.

The walk here was somewhat simple too, there wasn't anything much more to talk about, they knew so much about each other, at one point they were more than happy in Nega Mansion, but then Lamia attacked once more, and then now they were chucked here, almost spirited away some could say. When was their life going to just be normal? At least now there wasn't anyone trying to kill them, they could atleast try to enjoy this like a holiday.

"Shard City..." Karuso said, somehow knowing the name. "That's what it's called. I hope someone can t-"
"excuse me" came a mysterious voice from behind them, old and weary. Karuso turned around and stared before an old man in robes, waist hanging with scrolls, a long white beard covering his face and he held a staff with a blue orb on the end. The majority of his weight was clinging onto the staff like a life support. "yes?" asked the confident Karuso. Normally, he would be the best to come to for help, but here... he didn't know what to do. The old man smiled before speaking. "You wouldn't happen to be the uhm... elemental, that's right, of rock and fire? And the.." he pulled up a hand to hide his mouth as he whispered "vampire?"

At that, Karuso almost flinched back as if to be slapped. Why did he say it like it was a bad thing. He scowled at first in confusion before unexpectedly confirming the old man's question. "ah, fantastic" the old man said. "My name is Horad Caiin, the Dragons of The Crossing told me to meet you. I must say, i'm rather excited"

"Civilization at last," came Zien animated exasperation as they entered the main entrance of the city. "I require a bed and food....like now, or there's going to be a very grumpy elemental on your hands Karu."

Dragging his feet slightly, the blond and purple haired young man was quiet exhausted. It had taken longer then expected to get there and several night camping in the wilderness, which was creepy as heck! More so for the fact that they were in a strange world and no idea what to expect or worry about. The cliff faces weren't so difficult, a little bit a stomp and a thrust of the fist and they were climbing stairs all day.

Now here, Zien was dirty, tired, hungry and sore from all horrendously long walking hours and climbing the cliff face with using his abilities left him haggard and sore.

He was only partly hearing Karu as he went on about finding someone to help them, course low and behold the help found them. Staring at the hermit, as there seemed no other way in Zien's head to describe the man, Zien was a bit wearing hearing he knew about his abilities. Course the surprise became a scowl and dislike at how Karu was addressed. 'Vampire' like if the word alone was a curse word and taboo to say.

Stepping forward, Zien crossed his arms over his chest. "If you're so excited about meeting us, at least show the curtsy of doing so. Not slapping around Karu with what he is like its some taboo word. We had vampires were we lived, surely you got your own around here. We're outsiders yes, but we deserve respect, specially Karu."

The old man was breathing somewhat heavily beneath all that hair, it seemed speaking whilst standing often left him finding it hard to recover, but he seemed to cope. Zien was the first to respond, Karuso onyl stared onwards blankly, almost beginning to frown at all the speak of him being a vampire, he had never been spoken of lowly, not for some time anyway. "sh, sh, shshhh" began Horad. "I'm sorry" he said, stepping closer with his third leg he then said more quietly "the vampires in these parts are less like your friend i can assure you dear elemental. Rare, nonetheless, but nothing like Karuso".
"What do you mean by that?" Karuso asked, placing a warm gloved hand onto Zien's shoulder, assuring him he was alright. "Please, i'll explain everything and answer any questions... you need to know. In the meantime, why don' you young men come to my home? I'm sure you're in need of some rest and refreshments."

Even if the guy was elderly, elderly to the point of ancient looking, he really didn't care. Not even as the man was spent standing up and talking and taking Zien's attitude, the elemental didn't care as he apologized. Not at first at least, but as the hermit explained. However, it really took Karu's hand on his shoulder for Zien to calm his raging need to defend his companion.

Strange though, that the vampires known to this land were so different; weren't all vampires essentially the same? What made them so taboo to talk about.

As the hermit mentioned walking on and talking about it, as appealing as the mention of food and drink was nice Zien was hesitant. "Can we trust him? I barely trust those dragons back there, let alone this guy..." he said with concern.

Zien was aware though, they didn't have much choice.
