Ink felt his cackles rise up at the idea of talking about why he was here and his cheeks turns crimson in embarrassment.

"I want to know about a mare..well..two marez actzually...I'm..having trouble wiz zem...with being with zem or wanting to be wiz zem...zey're..juzt cauzing me a lot of grief and I want to know what I should do..I guezz..." Explaining this was HARD and how much was he supposed to say anyway? Wasn't the whole point that this guy could see the past, present and future.

"Zo I guezz..ztuff about...marez and...feelingz..." he mumbled

Cirrus gave a knowing sort of nod as he began pouring the tea for Ink. Mares and feelings were both way out of his knowledge zone, but nobody needed to know that. The tea would reveal the answers.

"Keep those thoughts in your mind as you drink your tea. It will help make the reading clearer." He pushed the cup and saucer forward. "Don't finish it. Leave about a quarter of the cup behind."

Cirrus had barely finished his sentence when Ink nearly slammed the cup back into the saucer and swallowed very loudly. The stallion coughed and patted his chest, his eyes watered. "Zat..waz 'otter zen I waz expectzing.." He burped lightly. "Pardon moi...uhm..I zink I zat zere waz zome..lemon...it 'ad a nize zezt to it..."

It was easy for him to drink his tea with those thoughts on his mind because that was all that was IN his mind. But perhaps downing the tea like a shot in Draft Punk's bar hadn't been the best idea.

"Ah..."

Leaning forward, Cirrus peered into the teacup. The leaves were a mess and well, there really wasn't much liquid left.

He poured another cup.

"Shall we have another? Slower this time?" He gave a wobbly smile. "When you're done, swirl the tea carefully around the cup and then dump the remains in the saucer."

"A...ah iz zat.." -burp- " 'ow it workz zen.." Ink looked a little green at the idea of drinking more hot tea, as the beverage on whole wasn't his favorite but this time he took the cup and sipped it slowly. The warm liquid was actually a little relaxing. He pondered the two mares in his life, he pondered what he felt about each of them and he pondered on how they might feel about him and what they'd prolly feel about each other and his feelings toward the other.

Ink's stomach churned a bit, and he swirled the last mouthful in his cup and dumped the last bits of it in his saucer. Gingerly he put the cup back on the table.

"Perfect."

Taking up the cup, Cirrus began to study it from every angle. It was, he realized rather quickly, a typical reading. Ink's woman problems could be solved easily with a bit of thought and some clear decision making. His heart was just complicating matters.

He ran quickly over the symbols in his mind. Open book. Bed. Anchor. Foot. Horse head.

"The answer to your questions will be answered in time. You need to follow your heart because you know the right answer. Nothing is as complicated as it first appears. The best thing you can do is open your mind, establish dialogue and reach out to others. Don't be afraid of how you feel."

He offered Ink a comforting smile.

"You'll find the way. The people in your life are very special and no matter what, there will always be friendships for you."

Ink's right eye twitched.

"Follow my 'eart? Eztablizh dialogue? What ze 'ell kind of fortune iz ZAT? I can get my mozther to tell me such zings! You're a fortune teller, you're zuppozed to tell me which one to pick not give me zomthing I can pull out of a..a..a... cookie!!"

Ink's voice had begun to get louder and he punctuated his statement by thumping his hoof on the table hard, making the cups rattle and the table shutter.

Cirrus sat back in surprise. He had never had anyone react to a reading like this before.

"I'm a guide to help you discover the right path. I'm not here to hold your hoof and pull you down one." He replied tartly.

UGHHH! This guy didn't get it at ALL!!! Ink scrubbed his hooves in his hair, agitated, giving him a slightly wild look.

"FORTUNEZ ARE ZUPPOZED TO BE MORE..." Ink struggles with his words "LIKE LIKE...AH I ZEE A PEGAZUZ MARE OF EBONY OR I ZEE A MARE WIZ RED 'AIR OR ZOMTHING! NOT JUZT FOLLOW YOUR 'EART!"

Ink's head thumped onto the table with almost as much force as his hoof had, rattling the cups again and he whines.

"I can't follow zomthzing zat won't make up itz own mind.." he bemoans.

Cirrus picked up the cup, as if worried the other phony would take his annoyance out on the fine porcelain.

"If fortunes were that specific, nobody would have any reason to live their life their own way at all. Nothing is set in stone."

He grimaced, somewhat apologetically.

Ink waved his hoof dismissively at Cirrus's explanation.

"No no, it iz not your fault..I juzt...I juzt need zome..guidence..zome sign or direction...becauze I do not know what to do...I zhought zat zis would 'elp zomehow but I.. "

Pathetically, Ink chokes back a small whimper. "I juzt do not want to 'urt eizther of zem..."

"Sometimes you need to discover these things on your own and hurting others is sometimes part of it. You already know the right answer, you just have to let yourself believe it."

Cirrus wanted to reach over and give Ink a consoling pat but he remained where he was, with his sad smile.

"You know, you actually had a good reading. I could have found death, despair and heartache, but there's none of that there, so try not to be afraid of what will happen."

Ink heaved a great sigh and reached into his bag, dropping a couple bits on the table. What Cirrus had said was true, and even though he'd been incredibly rude to the pegasus, the stallion given him comfort and advice. It really was up to him in the end, he'd been dodging doing what he should have done and leading either mare on at this point was incredibly mean of him.

"I know ze fortunez are free but zink of eet az a tip for being zo kind even zo I waz not. Zank you." He smiled tiredly and eased off the fluffy seat and back onto his hooves. He waved once more to Cirrus as he left, the door closing gently behind him.

Yay closed out finally! Thank you again and sorry this took so long!

"Thank you and farewell," Cirrus nodded solemnly as the stallion left. He hoped everything would turn out well for Imperial Ink and wished his love life all the best.

As he began to clear the table, Cirrus peeked into the cup one last time. "Oh," he murmured in faint surprise, "it's the red haired mare." Well, surely the lovelorn fellow would work it out on his own.

RP complete!

Despite being a ghost, End of an Era's view on the supernatural was fairly limited. It wasn't that actively disbelieved in spirits; it was just that she didn't tend to seek out the paranormal. When you're transparent, glow, and can move through doors, the paranormal tends to become the normal- so she thought nothing of it when she first heard about the little fortune telling shop, other than it might be fun. She'd passed the way to it a few times before, and was one day taken by a passing fancy to go in and get her fortune told. No birds allowed, the sign said- but that was fine, she didn't have a bird with her.

Raising a hoof, she knocked on the door. "Hello?" she called. "This is the fortune teller's, right?"
