When the anger flashed across her friends face, for a split moment Arianne was reminded that this was not the laughing child she'd pulled out of countless mud puddles growing up, but the warrior princess who- if she had not been born a middle child- would have all the strength of will to be queen. Then she spoke, and Arianne conviction to protect her only grew. "Of course I know how dangerous it is there!" Pausing, so as to gather her composure and not yell- yelling was not befitting a priestess- Arianne leveled a stare at Adelaide. "The goddess you swore to is the one who told me alone. She has said I will survive this journey, but if you go with, you might not. And if they capture you, find out who you are, imagine the power they'd have over your country. You can't go." The sight of the tears weakened her resolve, and she stepped forward and hugged her friend. Prior to puberty, Arianne had been the taller one, just barely, but once Adelaide had sprouted into her current willowy frame, it was Arianne who was shorter. "Adelaide. you weren't supposed to find me. I don't know what's going to happen... I..." Glancing down, Arianne wrestled with how much to tell her. Her goddess had said it was imperative everyone still believed in Prisma, for she would need all her strength to escape from her prison. If she told Adelaide that their goddess was in dire danger, would that put Prisma at risk?
"Our goddess has been captured by the god Nairus, demon god of Homenai. While all her people still believe in her, she will have the strength to escape when I go to her aid through an abandoned Nairus temple. If any number beyond one or two were to know of her imprisonment, and question her powers, she will be trapped forever. It was imperative I leave immediately, and alone. I am sorry that I had to worry you, but a much greater being than I required it." Arianne glanced up at her friend, waiting for her reaction.

Adelaide cracked at the hug, and she hugged her friend back, resting her head against the top of Arianne's. "You think you have to do it all along because our goddess told you so, but if that were the case, the Goddess would have kept me from finding you, regardless of her imprisonment. She gave me my shield for a reason Lia." She picked her head back up and one tear was shed. "If our goddess is in that much trouble, she'll need you. Think, maybe she said you'll survive this journey because she knew I would come along and follow you." She let go of her friend and wiped her tear away. Knights only cry for the fallen, princesses only cry for the weakened state of her people.
She took a deep breathe and spoke calmly. "I am going with you, to protect you. To keep you safe for the goddess's retrieval. I'm skilled enough to not get captured, after all I'm not the small child cornered by bullies anymore. My father let me become a knight because there is no reason for me to be needed on the throne." She gave a small smile, and reached back to touch her shield. "If I wasn't a knight, I'd be used for a pawn in a peace treaty. Now that I'm a knight, if I die protecting you, I die with honor and fulfillment. Believe me though, you won't be getting rid of me yet."

Arianne frowned at the comment about the shield, but nodded. "I... suppose that may be true." Arianne tightened her grip on Adelaide. "If I let you go, you have to promise not to die..." She murmured childishly, remembering all the deaths she'd already lived through. Sighing, Arianne pulled away, and glanced at the shield Adelaide always had with her. "You remember the morning you woke up with the shield, right? I know that the dagger our Captain carries around has been blessed to him by Prisma- but I think that it was blessed in the same way as ours. He may be involved in this beyond his ship." Except he's so determined not to go on land... What could possibly motivate him to follow us? I'm reading too much into this.. "Let us go back on deck. It would not be fitting to leave the pirates minds wondering what we're doing down here." Arianne meant that in a very innocent way, she had no idea the added meaning there could be to that. She didn't want them wondering what their mission was- it did not occur to her that they might wonder just what the relationship between knight and priestess was. Since, by this point, with Adelaide grandiose gesture, they surely knew at least that much about their identities, if not further.

Adrian raised an eyebrow as the girls walked into his cabin. He had no care for the talk of goddesses and sacred quests. His life was that of a pirate. All he needed was his ship, the sea and the wind.
Why did he even take the priestess on board? Did he really want that notoriety? And he would probably also be accused, now, of kidnapping the Princess. Why didn't he leave both of them at port? Well, at least the Priestess seemed to be adjusting, almost a little too quickly though, to being in the company of pirates. That thought swirled in Adrians mind. Something seemed off, about her. She wasn't letting on the whole truth, and he knew it. He just wasn't sure what yet.

Adelaide chuckled softly. "I assure you, I won't die." She nodded when asked about the morning she awoke with her shield. That sword did give off a feeling similar to my shield and Lia' s mirror. Adelaide nodded again, not sure what words would pop out of her mouth next. She held the doors open for her friend and when they reached above deck, Adelaide gave a small glance at Adrian. Something about him irked her and she wasn't sure what it was just yet.

Arianne, even though she knew just how little those words would mean if Adelaide was in danger, was reasssured by them. "Thank you." She watched as Ela held the door open for her, and with a weak smile, she went up to the deck, her gaze automatically skimming the horizon in all directions. She noticed a ship of the starboard side, and wandered over, looking at the flag.

"I take it you two had a nice chat? Know where we're going, and why I think you're both insane?" He said to Adelaide, "I could easily drop you two at a much nicer port. You know, someplace where you won't get killed." He said before glancing to Ariannce and following her gaze. "What is.....oh, another ship." He squinted trying to see what colors they flew, "Hmm, I don't know those colors. Can't say that I have ever seen that flag before." He remarked off handedly. His ship flew no flag at the moment, and he didn't intend to raise one with an unknown ship off the starboard.

Arianne glanced over at him. "I'm afraid our destination can't be changed any more than Ela's mind about going." When he followed where her gaze had previously been, she glanced back at the ship. His next statement surprised her though, since it seemed so obvious to her. "You don't? But the colors seem to be only a slight alteration on old Jonston's colors. A son finally come of age, perhaps?" Arianne had recognized that the angles had only shifted slightly from when Jonston's flag flew during her childhood. If she'd known that, how could he have missed it? Recognizing flags was so second nature to her, that she didn't even realize that it was not a talent common among priestesses.

Adrian balked slightly, not only did she recognize a flag, but she was able to name off a pirate captains name. Adrian knew now. But he would talk to her later. When the princess wasn't around. "Jonston? That old b*****d had a son? I heard Jonston had gone to port for good, never knew that he had a son. Well, I'll call him a friendly. Old Jonston wasn't one to attack other pirates. I'll hope his son is the same." He looked to his crew, "Men, hoist the colors! Lets not get mistaken for a bloody merchant ship!" He said before his men scurried to raise the flag. It was a black flag, with a white skull and sword, and a blood red crescent moon in the corner.

Arianne glanced over at him as he exclaimed about Jonston having a son. It hadn't been common knowledge? That's amusing. He was barely out of the crib before Jonston was cracking jokes to father about his son and I marrying one day... It was also amusing how the man he'd just insulted was now being called a friendly, but it was nothing Arianne wasn't used to. Cursing was practically a form of affection among pirates. Turning, she watched as his flag was raised. Hm. Doesn't share any similarity with any flags I've seen. "Your flag is simple but majestic, Captain." Turning, she glanced over at the other ship, in time to see it turn slightly away, though if one squinted you could almost make out a waving figure by the wheel. "Seems they recognized you.

"Aye, its my own design. And if he was trained by his father he's a good man." Adrian said smiling and waving back. "I never knew Jonston myself. I've only heard stories, but a few of my older crewmen knew him. In fact, more than a couple of my crew, the older ones, sailed under some damn good captains before I found 'em." He glanced at Arianne a twinkle in his eyes, "And thanks for recognizing Jonston for me. I would have sailed on, not recognizing his colors."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 01, 2013 12:35 pm

Arianne turned back towards him, nodding at the comment about his father. Watching him wave, you'd think the two had actually known each other, instead of this being their first 'meeting'. Pirates are a family all to themselves. She was smiling at that thought, wistfully, when he glanced at her with a twinkle. Oh dear Her heart thrummed with what she assumed was fear, and she gave a nod. "I- You're welcome, I suppose." Arianne turned away, watching the ship disappear, wondering why her cheeks felt so warm. This doesn't make sense... So distracted, was she, that she didn't realize just what a big giveaway she'd throw into Adrian's face.

During Adrian's and Arianne's talk, Adelaide was off talking to crew members, looking out at the sea and going below the deck (several times) not knowing how to keep still. She went below deck, for a final time, to change back into her armor. She put it back on slowly, taking her time. Once her armor was reassembled onto her, she pulled her hair down. It was long, longer than she would've liked but it was fitting for a princess. She came back on the deck, and stood with a stone face. Now was the time to be a guardian, not a silly princess stumbling across a boat on a sea of which she had never sailed before.

Arianne noticed her friend scurry about, and chuckled, but she stayed at the side of the ship, leaning on the railling and staring out at the sea. As the sun set, the waves darkened, until their beauty was reduced to tossing black swirls, only hinting at their blue depths when a stray light caught them. If anyone had paid close enough attention, they would've noticed that Arianne eyes were an exact mimic of the way the waves looked at the moment. Staring into the sea brought her both pain and peace, and the bittersweet joy was worth every moment. The saltwater air was stinging her cheek, chapping it to a reddish glow, though it was too dark to see, and her hair, while tamed, was being tossed about. To anyone watching, it was hard to see the priestess, since she appeared to have been overtaken by a soul born to the sea.

Adrian watched his two passengers, when Adelaide put her armor on, he shook his head. "Foolish to wear that at sea. It's likely to rust, and if a stray wave were to knock you overboard you'd sink like a stone. You don't need to worry any about my crew, ya know?" He said flatly, letting it drop.
When the sun had set, he approached Arianne staring out at the sea. And her bodygaurd, for once, wasn't at her direct side. "Tell me," He said calmly coming up next to her, "Who is looking out at the sea? Is it Preistess Ariannce Kyoko? Or is it Tahlia Rocio, daughter of the famous privateer, Robert Rocio? Also known as Robert Dewey to his friends, and close crew." He said, turning to lock eyes with her.
