x x w a f f l e s x x w a f f l e s x x XXXSo, the first words out the man's mouth was nothing but pure sarcasm. Wonderful. He had enough of that to deal with as it was, his ward seemed to adore using that idiotic style of tone with him. As the man stood up to stretch, Beta took the chance to analyse the man's body type. It fit in with the kind of man they were looking for, but there was this weakness about him that was hard to put a finger upon. He'd seemed powerful before, so what happened?
XXXStanding as tall and still as a monk, Beta just accepted the show of dominance without so much of a blink. This wasn't a true show of strength, but most likely just a diversionary tactic. A defense mechanism. There was obviously a reason why this man acted this way, and the look of boredom in the man's golden eyes just made the councilman wonder further. Beta was one of the unfortunate souls that liked things in black and white; he didn't like mystery. Kind of ironic seeing as the man was basically shrouded in mystery.
XXXA child? How odd for the man to mention such a thing. He could see the logic though, children were often difficult to handle and never seemed to stay still. But the 'you things' comment was most definitely odd. Thinking on this simple comment alone, Beta nearly missed the new show of intimidation. Unfortunately, the idea of being able to snap him like a twig made Beta chuckle in a ghostly manner. You couldn't snap something that wasn't technically solid...
XXX"I'm curious.." The male admitted, his ghostly, "beyond-the-grave" voice seemingly lighter than before. "What do you mean by..."you things"? Do you mean to say you assume I am... Human?" If his face wasn't hidden behind their official mask, there would be a mildly amused smirk on his face. Beta found this entirely fascinating. This man didn't like humans, how fun. Removing a hand from one of his billowing sleeves, Beta fixed up his mask, an unholy white hand rearranging the porcelain covering. If it was any hint to the man that the robed one definitely wasn't human, then Beta didn't know what else to do, aside from showing his face. It was forbidden to do so to someone outside the council, but if he was to be his ward's slave...
XXX"It's not a child I speak of, by the way. But the way she acts she might as well be." Shrugging his shoulders, the cloaked man just put his hand back inside his robes, turning to move across to the window that was bursting with light. Tutting at the bright sunlight, Beta took a hold of the blinds and forced them shut. Automatic blinds his a**. The man needed darkness. Turning on a table lamp to cast a gentle glow about the room, the man sighed happily and turned back to Lex, seemingly much perkier now.
XXX"I have a task at hand that needs urgent attention." Had he known of Tenebrae's past, he might have used a different set of words. "We need someone to distract our ward so she forgets about attempting to leave the Earthly plane. I would not be your master, but our ward would be your Mistress. We believe that if she had something to... Take care of that she couldn't kill, she might balance out. Come to think of it..." Looking the odd-eyed, bearded man over again, the man felt like laughing. "You have the same uncaring attitude as her. Tell me, what's your name Centurion?"

Lex merely eyed the man, the feeling of warm light on his back seeming to sap away the immense power he generally felt, even with the collar on it didn't stop the man from beating down anything that didn't have the upper body strength to rival him. One of the many reasons why they demanded sunlight in the room when guests were in, or they would take it away completely. A luxury he enjoyed. Tongue running over his teeth as he would feel fairly hungry again, though it didn't show in the slightest, after all the food he detested here was mediocre in his opinion, and they wouldn't feed him a second time either. Mind wandering lightly as the conversation seemed to had taken a pause for the moment leaving him free to think for a second. At this point he wasn't entirely sure what this man was here for, asking a fairly strange question, as if he was, what did they call those people outside the clubs when he was just a pet? Balls? No, they were like those, they had an action for a name. It took him a moment before the word "Bouncer" would come to his head. He was to be a bouncer to keep someone in rather than out, which in itself was a strange task for someone untamed and dangerous, that made him wonder why this man thinks he would follow orders in the first place? Pupils got bigger and smaller changing their dynamic for a moment as if his sight was changing, it wasn't but he was attempting to fight with the restrictions of his collar again as he felt hunger pulling at him again. He wasn't really sated in terms of feeding, or what he was getting now, which was just some uninteresting and unsatisfying feeling from the hooded figure.
The sudden statement from the male caused Tenebrae's attention to snap back to the man, eyeing him with a more agitated look then before, the sound of the voice less intimidating, fairly tranquil in his opinion, it sounded like his Lord from where he actually came from. As the man would go on to ask what he meant by "you things" and he would tilt his head ever so slightly. Noticing the hand coming from a sleeve, or rather the disgustingly pale hand appearing from the sleeve had signaled that this man was either dead, or had been. Lex knew little about this world, but from what he has seen dead people tend to be more white, no blood running through them meant death, no tanned skin, no signs of a beating heart. It took him a moment to slowly take note of these things, he would shrug lightly, "Assumed, yes. Though, I referred to you things as the things living within his realm. Weak and annoying." he'd say in his gruff tone agitation clear in his words as he would not bother to stifle the flow of emotion. Turning his body fully towards the man now giving him his full attention finally, face dropping into that of a stone mask as he would size the man up some, deciding whether or not he really needed to bother with intimidating him at this point. As the male would continue on as he continued on to speak about this person not being a child but "she" may as well have been.
The she put him off and he would look skeptical, watching with anticipation as the man would suddenly take an interest in the windows, easily shutting them, he would look slightly amused by the action taken looking up at the cameras and offering a sly smirk to them. He would let his arms drop to his sides as the man would let a light come on, that wasn't as bothersome. Yellow eyes seemed to glow in the darkness almost as bright as the dim glow but offering no source of light at the same time, this really was his realm after all. The sense of happiness and satisfaction would easily be a nice source of sustenance that was suddenly provided, his hunger slowly evaporating with his agitation, though his general need to intimidate everything that was able to speak. He watched the man with an intense stare, starting to get suspicious, not entirely sure of the guy's game at this point, what did he need from him?
Lex's eyes would narrow at the words that escaped the creatures mouth, he looked ready to attack him as he would continue on to speak about something not leaving the Earthly plane, a sudden interest crossing his features for a moment. The look on his own face could be compared to that of a pissed off feline, waiting patiently for something it wanted, whether to hear or to eat it didn't particularly matter. Fist clenched tight as he would catch the end of the explanation and then the question that proceeded it, "You're asking me to be a pet?" he'd question the anger clear in his voice as he would growl, "I don't know how stupid you are but there is no charm on this god forsaken collar that points to me being pet-like." he'd hiss, "Go find something softer for your 'mistress'." he'd growl clearly not wanting to bother with this man further. ______________________________________________

x x w a f f l e s x x w a f f l e s x x XXXWhy was it so hard to get a slave? Beta had no idea he was going about things entirely the wrong way, and just stood still with a look of mild bewilderment hidden behind his mask. Had he said something wrong? The man had been acting a little more placated before, and now he was sort of... Raging. He was angry at the thought of being a pet. Beta knew he wasn't looking for a pet, so... What was the man's problem?
XXXKeeping up his monk-like rigid posture, hands hidden inside his sleeves, Beta had to re-process everything he'd just said. They were slaves, why did they consistently get offended by his honesty? He really did think that if his ward had something else to think about aside from herself that she might actually calm down and start to train. All this partying and drinking was wearing down her strength. The woman needed to be at pique physical strength if she was to continue existing.
XXXTurning to face the now closed window, Beta let silence hang in the room for a moment. "Maybe I used the wrong words..." He mused out loud, his veiled voice almost on the verge of amusement. Turning back to Lex, he shrugged in an attempt to show he might have been wrong. "Let me rephrase. The Lady has a very specific duty. If she cannot take care of herself, she will cease to exist." Again, Beta was probably being overly blunt about the situation, but there was a certain bit of truth. The ward's soul existence was to keep Death a mystery, but without being strong, her existence was literally pointless.
XXX"What I was meaning to say, is if the Lady had someone living with her, someone that knew how to take care of themselves, then maybe she'd come to her senses. If she can learn to care for someone other than herself, then she might take her training seriously." Ah, so Beta had finally said the right thing. It seemed the word 'training' was the only thing to interest the man with the mildly interesting eyes. Maybe elaborating on the 'training' would be the best course of action. Especially since this man seemed to be thriving now the room was cast into darkness.
XXX"The woman who you'd call Mistress requires a certain kind of training. Her choice of lifestyle is conflicting with her powers, and if this continues things will fall out of balance. From what I understand, you and the Lady share a similar kind of power. You thrive in darkness do you not?" Not even waiting for a reply, Beta continued. "We need a man that can handle her, and can hopefully coax her to train. I guess I should stress the point that we do not need a "pet". Especially something that's soft. If I wanted soft, I wouldn't be here."
XXXBeta's last few words sounded interesting. It was almost like he was sternly making a point; soft was all around them. Soft was everything else that didn't reside in this room. "Now, do I get a name to call you?" Trying to sound more conversational than business, Beta wanted out. This place stunk of slavery and false luxury. Their ward lived in real luxury. Was it their choice? No, but it so far seemed to be the only thing that somewhat kept her reigned in. The woman had a flair for extravagance, and the Council would rather spare no expense in keeping her lavish tastes occupied compared to risking her leaving the Earthen realm.

Fighting with the collar suppression again, he was attempting to slam into it with all his might, feeling that natural repulse of pain that would echo through his body, tension rising in each muscle as he would growl towards Beta for a moment. It would slowly evaporate into a dull sound of annoyance, his neck tensed as it would press against the collar before he would stop pushing against the seals that were consistently keeping him from doing anything. As the man would seem to be busy contemplating why he was mad, he would rub his arms as contusions would appear on his arms slowly, something that happened often due to him fighting against the seals on an often basis. His neck turned a dark purple around the collar but he seemed unbothered by it as he would open his mouth to say something else, but winced as he felt slightly strained for a moment. Beta was given the time to speak about making a mistake and then would turn to him, the tone of amusement in his voice making Lex's skin prickle. As he would continue on to speak saying she had a specific duty and that if she didn't tend to it, she would in laymen's terms, die. He eyed the man not letting go of the bubbling rage, he would stare at him as this would slowly click into his mind as something complicated that didn't turn him into a complete pet. Looking disbelieving of the role as well as unsure of this role he was supposed to play he would stare at the dark shroud like man who continued on to speak. Yellow eyes continued to glow in the darkness not looking amused or interested any longer.
Clicking his tongue against his teeth in distaste he would eye the man, "Your asking me to lead by example of all things? A slave? Let me teach her how to tell something to ******** off I'll do what I want? Or no she seems to have already learned that." he'd snort a vicious tone of sarcasm dragging on his words, "Training her. Sounds like a reversal of rolls.....I'm more likely to kill her then to..."train" her." he'd chuckle amusement balancing itself across his features as it masked his still bubbling anger. The wounds he was displaying earlier would disappear after a moment, having stopped his fight with this collar and the seals due to the temporary distraction. Tenebrae would close his eyes enjoying the feel of complete darkness as he would move back into the darker corner of the room where the glow of the lamp barely reached. Yellow eyes appeared again, looking feral as they would cast a dangerous gaze onto the man who was apparently shopping for his tenant, or prisoner, whichever term one could use to describe something that had a duty to live wherever they put them. As Beta would continue on to speak about a certain type of training well Lex's expression didn't change, mild interest and amusement, mixed in with an alluring anger, it was like coaxing a hungry bear after it finished playing with you. Listening to the explanation with little interruption he would c**k an eyebrow in wonder, "What are you telling me I need to do, train her? Take care of her? The reverse? It sounds like your asking for a parent." he'd chide the man in a calm tone, though it possessed that arrogance that Lex naturally carried about him.
Lex's eyes softened into a momentary lapse of thoughtfulness, looking fairly easy to please for a moment they would move into a strange expression of interest and amusement, hell if it was something easy why not? Might as well enjoy himself by beating up on some stupid woman, not like these men seemed to care if he wanted to in his first place, "Better question would be....do I get to take this disgusting piece of "jewelry" off?" he'd snort his emotions switching off to hide anything that he may be planning at this point. As Beta would ask about his name once again he would roll his eyes, "They gave me the name "Lex" here. That's the only name I'm willing to part with." he'd say in a quiet tone masking his dislike for the name as he would cross his arms again. He was ready to leave this god forsaken place, and possibly escape if these people underestimated him like they currently were. ______________________________________________

x x w a f f l e s x x w a f f l e s x x XXXCould this man express anything else other than anger, distaste and... Other negative emotions? He was trying to offer a man that most other slaves would jump at; a chance to leave this horrible place. So why was he being so difficult? So stubborn? Instead of just assuming things, Beta began to listen to the words coming from the man's mouth. He was using a lot of sarcasm mixed in with words to appear strong and dominating. The man didn't need strong words to get his point across, Beta may have been blunt and to the point, but he could recognise strength.
XXXBy now, Beta had firmly decided that this man of darkness was the one he needed. The man had a strong head on his shoulders, and wasn't likely to get taken in by his ward's actions... And her beauty. It was almost laughable that someone who sided with death could be so eerily attractive. While on the subject of his ward, the man noted that this bearded fellow was even talking about how he'd probably kill her compared to training her. Staying silent, Beta found this highly amusing. He'd make sure to express that in a moment.
XXXStaying silent while the eagle-eyed male got a few more thoughts off his chest - one being a particularly far fetched idea of him being a parental substitute - when an interesting question passed his ears. He wanted the collar off? That was doable, only in the confines of the Lady's home though. And finally, he was given a name. Lex. It wasn't even his real name, but one the Hotel gave to him? How disappointing. "I must say it's unfortunate that they felt the need to give you a new name, but at least it's something. Lex, it is nice to meet you. I am known as Beta." Pausing for a moment, you could almost see the smile on the man's face through the mask.
XXX"I am the Second in Charge of the Συμβούλιο των Καταραμένων." It wasn't breaking protocol to speak the name of the council, especially if it was the true Greek name "I'm assuming if you're as old as your file states, and given what you are-" Given Beta didn't know much outside the world he had been created in, it was no surprise that the man thought that Centurion literally meant a Roman Warrior, and thus immediately made a fool of himself. "-You may have heard of us." Even with his little slip-up, there was a slight chance that Lex at one point or another heard rumours about a council that dealt with death. Whether or not he spoke Greek was another matter entirely.
XXX"I should let you know that you probably wouldn't be able to kill our Lady. She's... Special." Lex could find out for himself that the woman was a maiden for Death, Beta wasn't going to spoil that fun little surprise. "And you wouldn't be training her, per say. More like, you'd be a breathing, retaliating sparring partner. Plus with a housemate, she might find less of a reason to flee." Shrugging, Beta just turned and walked towards the door.
XXX"Your collar will be removed upon arrival at the Lady's manor. I just need to keep it on your for travelling purposes. The less your own power interferes with mine the easier it will be." Opening the door, Beta looked back at the man, surprised to see he was still standing his ground. "Are you not happy to be leaving? I thought someone stuck in this place would jump at this chance." Shaking his head as if in awe, Beta looked around down the hall. "Guard, dim the lights would you? I don't think you want me breaking the wards on this place just to transport a being." Getting a confused 'yes sir' along with a note to say it would only be for a few moments, Beta turned back to Lex and beckoned him once again with his ghostly hand. "Come on, they've agreed to dim the lights for you to get to the front desk. From there, we travel. I don't want to be here any longer than you do, so come! We shall leave." Sounding oddly upbeat, Beta was feeling pretty happy. He'd found the perfect buddy for his ward.

Tenebrae would eye the man before him as he would introduce himself as well as mentioning that it was sad the hotel had to give him a name, "Incorrect. I refused to give my name." he'd state simply looking slightly proud of the fact they couldn't attain his proper name. Staring at the porcelain mask that the man had he would notice a faint smile in his eyes, or rather he could feel the sense of happiness, his stomach was feeling better as the man would remain amused and happy. That was satisfying, but he preferred something more like fear, something he had a feeling he wouldn't get anytime soon, possibly never at this point. His last taste of fear coming from the female maid he intimidated, he would rub the side of his head lightly already missing the taste of intimidation and fear. He would rub his beard lightly as he would think about how to go about this, not really bothering to greet Beta much at all considering he had no real desire to do so. As the man would continue to speak Tenebrae's eyes would narrow slightly, "Really now." he'd mumble looking fairly intrigued by the sudden offered name, he has heard a lot of things, but this seemed faintly familiar. He would eye the man lightly as Beta would continue on to mention how old Lex actually was. Raising his eyebrow again with slight interest in his eyes as the male would continue on about having heard of them, "On what premise do you assume that I know? Just my age?" he'd question eyeing the man wondering what his age have to do with him knowing about their Council, that was what he made it sound like anyways.
As Beta went on to mention him not being able to kill the woman he would roll his eyes, "Everything eventually dies, whether I'll be the direct cause of hers or not will depend won't it?" he'd snicker lightly. He would stand straight as he would hear what Beta had to say about what he would be doing, "Now I'm a training dummy. How gratifying." he'd state rolling his eyes, still taking everything the wrong way, just like he liked too. He could almost understand why this woman would want to leave the house all the time, after all with a stiff like this who says all the wrong things fairly easily. Scratching at his neck while his mind was absent of thought, the mention of taking off his collar easily caused him to look surprised. All his masters tended to leave the collar on, they would starve him until he looked like his normal form, a painful almost lethal transformation while in his collar. Yet here this man was telling him he would be free of this confining thing if he went along, he eyed the man suspiciously, even he found that too good to be true. There was definitely a catch to this, something he probably wouldn't like, after all they were containing something already, so that meant that he was capable of being contained if they had to take care of something even more cunning then him.
Keeping his corner he would watch Beta open the door and eye him, questioning his stubborn side before he would order the guard to turn off the lights and then would call for him once again. Lex grimaced and looked at the ground, before sighing, he'd grumble before he would move out of his corner easily slipping into the dim halls. Body feeling like a mountain compared to many other tenants he would merely smirk at this, liking the fact this form allowed such a feeling, though he disliked the idea of having to deal with all of this collar crap considering he preferred his more over powering aura. Keeping his casual pace a few steps behind Beta as they would make it to the front desk, he didn't pay attention to the transaction, he knew how much he was worth despite his "training" and well his general temperament and attitude. He was still a higher price than most and he fairly enjoyed that, though when they left he was almost pleased by the choice of travel. Where they came out would make all the difference however. ______________________________________________

Green finch and linnet bird, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Nightingale, blackbird, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Teach me how to sing.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx If I cannot fly, Let me sing. INDENT The room was so bright and clean and white that it reminded her of those fluffy clouds in the sky of a good, sunny day. She didn't mind being the sole, sudden burst of firetruck-red-color in the room, though she did wish her husband would return soon with the kids. They had went to the beach that morning and were still out. She hadn't gone, of course, because the boys needed time alone to be boys. After all, it was the first full day since they arrived at the hotel last night!
INDENT That was how Eve rationalized each day. Every day was day 2 of her family vacation. She believed they went to southern California to visit that new, popular theme park: Disneyland. First her husband was going to take both their boys to beach for the first time. Then, on the tomorrow that never came, they were all going to go to Disneyland together. In the meantime, Eve was tasked with relaxing for once. After all, at a hotel, she needn't worry about maintaining anything. After they left, a professional team would tidy everything up. How wonderful to take a break from housework! Eve lay on the single bed in the room. It was enough for two people - husband and wife, of course. The kids were so small they either pushed some chairs together, threw a blanket on the floor, or snuggled up in bed with their parents. It was an absolutely delightful vacation. She was so lucky to have such a generous father-in-law that would pay for such a wonderul time!
INDENT There was a knock on the door and Eve rose and scurried over to the door. She unlocked it - at least, in her mind she unlocked it - and opened the door to be greeted by a burly man with a tray. Oh, room service was so delightful! Breakfast was so refreshing and she was hoping that lunch would be just as good. Someone else's cooking was a welcomed change, though she couldn't help but think that some things - like the unimaginative eggs she had been given that morning - were better when made her way. Eggs made in certain shapes, like Mickey Mouse or a heart, always made her children smile. She was sure patrons of the hotel would smile, too. Now face to face with the hotel staff since breakfast, she was sure to seize the opportunity for some feedback.
INDENT "Oh, thank you so much for delivering lunch, dear!" She cooed, accepting a polished silver tray. There was a cover over the food that was then removed from the tray, revealing a traditional lunch sandwich with a side of potato salad and a little fruit tart. For a beverage was a glass of juice and a glass of milk. The woman was beaming, pleased by the familiar foods. The kindly (yet burly) hotel bellboy politely responded with a you're welcome. The staff was so kind here! Before he turned away she shifted the tray to one arm and gently touched the man's arm to stop him from going. Sweetly, she told him, "Tell the chef that breakfast was wonderful. Oh, and if it's not too forward, also tell them that making the eggs into fun shapes like Mickey Mouse is great for kids. Could they do that for tomorrow's breakfast? We're all going to Disneyland tomorrow, you know, my boys and husband and I."
INDENT The 'bellboy' politely agreed to pass on her words and closed the door for the happy woman. The door was then locked. Contrary to his verbal compliance, the guard would not relay her words to the chef; after all, they were the same words she spoke every day at lunch time, ever since she arrived, just like every day at dinner time she would say that offering a choice of jams for lunch would be wonderful. At first he had been surly towards her, as with any other slave, but after seeing how pitifully lost in some fantasy world she was, he eventually started to play along. Seeing her smile, seeing how blissfully ignorant to reality she was, made it worth it. She was definitely a refreshing change to some of the more defiant or aggressive slaves.
INDENT Eve took her tray and set it down on the coffee table in the room. First she picked at the potato salad. It was just the right consistency, though it was hard to mess up such a classic food. Though the peanut butter was the best she had ever tasted, the sandwich seemed to be made with raspberry jam instead of grape. When the bellboy came around with dinner she would be sure to tell him to tell the chef that offering a choice of jams would be the better way to go. Why, if she hadn't agreed to take the day off from her usual chores, Eve would have loved to go down to the hotel kitchen and help cook! But she had promised her loving, caring, compassionate, fatherly husband that she would rest up until tomorrow. After all, women just don't have the same stamina that men do; she needed all her energy for running around with the boys tomorrow.
Awesome nerd Okay! Not as impressive as I thought it was gonna be, but we're there! We're goin' places!

A mutual-looking man stepped into the building and looked around at the bright foyer that greeted him. So this was the Hôtel des Esclaves, was it? It was just as nice as he had been described. So clean, so fancy, even the chandelier looked as though it cost more than what half of the world made in a year, him being no exception. But he wasn't here to admire decor. Clear blue eyes fell back to the front desk, where few people waited and others helped masters and mistresses buy slaves. The young man lifted his arm and looked at the slip of paper in his hands then back at the front desk. He strode over and nodded at the employee that greeted him then took the clipboard into his hands. He glanced at the paper again then scribbled down the information for it. The employee gave him a strange look, and the man tilted his head back to make eye contact. " I am putting my master's information on here." he explained quietly then quickly looked down. " He is much too big to fit through this building and wished for me to pick him a suitable slave." The employee was skeptical, but all doubts vanished when he saw the large wad of money the young man showed. The application was taken and given a quick glance, and after a few minutes the employee pressed a few buttons on his keyboard and motioned for the young man to follow a bodyguard, saying that he knew the exact right slave for him. The walk was long and quiet. The guard occasionally glanced at the young man, who kept his eyes forward even when the screeches of slaves came along with the thud against some doors. How awkward. Occasionally would the guard try to make small talk, such as "Where are you from?", "What kind of slave are you here for?", or "Mighty fine day, right?" He was given the same reply for each question: Silence. As they walked upstairs, the young man looked over the packet the front desk man had given him over his purchase, or at least soon-to-be one. A young woman named Eve, and according to the documents she had lost her mind. A lost mind, yet unwavering kindness. Was that good for his master? Would it only make him angrier? They would just have to find out soon. The young man stopped with the guard when they reached the room. He folded his arms behind his back respectively and watched the uneasy guard begin unlocking the woman's room. " Eve!" the guard called out when the door opened. " Someone's here to purchase you."

INDENT Eve was halfway through the sandwich when someone called her name. Hair red as a fire truck whipped about as her head turned, eyes wide with surprise. At first, a voice in the room, calling her, that must have been her husband, but that wasn't his voice. Who was in her room? Who had gotten in to her room. Eve leaned over in her chair to look at the door. She recognized the uniform of the bellboys, though this one was a different one. She didn't understand what he was talking about but put on a smile anyway. Eve quickly put the half a sandwich back on the tray and dabbed at her lips. She hoped her lipstick wasn't too smeared and scurried over to the door to greet the two men just as any good woman should.
INDENT "Good afternoon gentlemen," Eve greeted. She extended a dainty hand for the men to do what men are supposed to do with a woman's hand. "To what or whom do I owe the pleasure?"
INDENT The phoenix-woman had never seen the thinner, smaller guy in all of her life, that she remembered. She had also never seen that particular bellboy but she knew there were so many of them and by the time they finished their vacation she would probably know them by name. She was like that - a very social creature - though her husband always told her to keep to herself. Perhaps this boy was one of her husband's associates? He was dressed rather fancily; he looked the part of a politician or at least a politician's aide. She decided that that was who this boy was. He was one of her husband's associates. That man was working hard even on vacation; what a wonderful husband Eve had!
INDENT Realizing that it was unhospitable for her to keep them at the door she stepped aside and motioned for the guest to enter. "Please! Do come in! Right now my husband is at the beach with the kids but he should be back soon," Eve assured. "I was just having lunch; if you're a little peckish, there is a tart I haven't touched. If you're thirsty I can get you some water. Come in, come in! Sit where you'd like."
INDENT Eve scurried back to the chair she had been sitting in earlier and smoothed her skirts. She was a five-star housewife; entertaining guests was just one of her many talents, even without having much food or drink to offer!

The hand extended towards them, both the strange man and the bodyguard exchanged looks. So the paperwork was right, this woman wasn't all there; but just how far off did she have to be to mistake a slave shop as a resort? By the time the two men looked back at Eve she had just hurried back to her seat. A silence fell over the room, both men wondering just what to do. The bodyguard was the first to reanimate, stepping forward. He had to at least break the news to her gently. Like most workers, he had gotten used to Eve's vacant mind and overflowing kindness, and he wasn't sure how much that would change if she learned the truth. " You don't understand, Eve, you're being-" " A pleasure to meet you, madame." the younger man greeted with a graceful bow, interrupting the guard into silence. The man stood back up straight and fixed the woman with his empty gaze. " Please refer to me as Nobody. I am here to take you to a friend of your husband's. It seems you are the only one that can help him." There was no way she would willingly go with him if he tried to tell her that she was a slave being purchased, especially if that meant her husband and children wouldn't return. Chaso would be incredibly cross with him if he brought her in the midst of her tantrum. This was his only option, a last minute one at that. He had no knowledge of Eve's family, so hopefully speaking vaguely of them could lure her out without problem.

INDENT This bellboy seemed grumpier than the one who brought the meals but the young one, this Nobody, was delightful. She could tell they would get along well.
INDENT "Well, then, in that case, let me write a note to my husband in case he returns before I'm back," Eve stated, standing. Mister Nobody didn't say that she would away for long so she assumed it would be a quick hour or two thing. She went to one of the tables in the room and found a pen, scribbling a note to her husband on a pad of paper. When she was done she turned back to Mister Nobody and went to his side. She wouldn't be long so she wouldn't need anything - not that she had much at here, anyway, other than a few changes of clothes.
INDENT "I'm ready when you are. I can't imagine what someone would need my help for, but I'll do my best," the woman promised. She was ready to follow the man wherever he may lead, unquestioningly, as was proper of a woman. Perhaps her husband already knew that she was being called away. Perhaps this was some sort of surprise. Perhaps everyone was planning a soirée or something, just for her-- no, it was best not to get excited about things like that. It would just lead to disappointment.
INDENT Her husband would never have done something kind like that.
INDENT The moment of sadness was drowned with happiness. What was she thinking, saying her husband wasn't like that? He was the best husband in the world! Why, that was why the whole family was at this resort! It shouldn't be a surprise that such an influential, successful man had associates even in California. She wondered if she had met this friend of her husband before. She probably had, somewhere in the distant past. He had a lot of friends since he was such a good person. She was going to meet another one of those friends. How wonderful!

And a living faith will last in the midst of the blackest storm. abdiel jasiekx۰ ۰ ۰ This was certainly it. It was not exactly what he had been expecting but after laying eyes on it, he knew that it was the place he had been led to. All seemed to click into place at that moment and he lifted his hand to place the back of it against his nose. It was an overwhelming feeling. It was a place of darkness as much as it was one of a flickering candle that held strong against shadows. There was more to these walls and sparkling waters. It was a place of spiritual death but also one of enlightenment on its own. It was paradox to his eyes, one that made all the sense in the world. But he wasn't deterred by this new revelation. It had stopped him for a moment but his lips twitched upwards into a crooked smile. Now, hadn't he been played? He had missed the obvious. He knew about this trade, where creatures decided for themselves when equals were less than they were. What made them different was not who they were but the decision of their circumstances. It was very intriguing, really, how slavery could destroy a person but also allow them to truly understand themselves, the nature of human suffering, and draw people together. Even pain could be beautiful, he knew.
It was a whole new world within another one. He wasn't sent here to change it and it didn't need changing. That was something for the humans to figure out on their own. He scratched at his cheek absently before glancing at the front doors from where he stood. He looked moderately presentable for having walked several miles. He wasn't tired but it was a bit difficult considering he lived a fair distance from this place. It was a lovely stroll, of course. But that was a totally different story. On that note, he was more concerned about this next choice. It would be a very good idea to get someone to help him. They hadn't been lying to him. This was a very good place to go to. So why was he hesitating? Oh, yeah. Well, that would be a problem now wouldn't it? He just had to find someone pure of heart in this place. It wasn't as difficult as it sounded, (or was it the other way around?) so, shoving his hands into his pockets, he walked up to the doors and glanced at the handles.
Alright, not a knob. It didn't turn. He grabbed it and pushed. It didn't move.
Well. Okay.
Pulling his other hand out of his pocket, he jiggled the handle then pushed his shoulder against it. Come on, doors were supposed to move inwards so why wasn't it going inwards? If anything, this was supposed to be simple! But, no, of course not. Maybe it was stuck. Struggling some, he pushed harder. Or maybe it was locked because they were closed? That was quite possible though lights were on. Or they kept lights on all the time? That was a good idea actually...
"Sir... could you...?" Abdiel lifted his head quickly at the voice behind him. A woman stood there, looking at him as if he were mad. Clearing his throat, he straightened, released the door, and stepped aside. "Yes, of course. You may go ahead of me, Madam. I am simply... testing the lock on the door." With a charming smile, he patted it, only earning him a blank stare before she gripped the handle, pulled, and went inside. Oh, that was it, wasn't it? Scratching at the back of his head, he grabbed the handle himself and went inside.
It wasn't very difficult to find the front desk. There was a man standing behind it but that woman he had seen was no where in sight. He put it to the back of his mind and approached him. "Excuse me, I would like a slave...?"
The man looked up at him, pulling his glasses down his nose to regard him over the top of the rim. "Of course, sir." Pulling a pen from the cradle beside him, he slid a paper towards him. "Please fill this out so we may accommodate you, if you would be so kind. With this information we will set you up with the best slaves to fit you. Of course, all of this information is strictly confidential and none of it will go beyond us. If you would?" He handed him the pen and Abdiel accepted it, bending down. He could read and write so that was no problem, at least. He filled it out to the best of his ability, confused by a few items that they were asking for. After a few questions, he filled it out and handed it back.
"Very good, sir. Just a moment please." He took the sheet and turned. It wasn't long before he returned his attention to him. "Alright, I believe we have the perfect one for you. You will be escorted..." He inclined his head to the bellboy who appeared a few steps away, "to the room. If she is not to your liking with have others that may suit your tastes just as well. She, however, is the closest match. Her name is Eirawen. If you are pleased with the merchandise we will complete the transaction when you are finished."
"Thank you very much," Abdiel responded with a bow before turning and following the boy out.
"It isn't often you get ones like them," the one next to him said, leaning over a bit. At his blank expression, he tapped his thigh, confused. "You know, its odd, getting a creature like that. Don't you see his wings? Sort of transparent--"
"No... I don't. You alright?"
"Yes, perfectly...?" They both fell into an awkward silence before returning to their work.
Abdiel was led down the hall and was glad for having a guide. He did not have much idea where he was going but made sure to make note of it so he could find his way back again. There would likely be some eager person there willing to help him get what he needed but he had made quite enough of a fool of himself, thank you very much. Now he just had to make a good impression! He was the one doing the buying but he didn't exactly want to make a bad impression and then have to live with someone who didn't think highly of him. He tugged at his collar, a bead of sweat on his brow. It wasn't exactly painful but it certainly burned. It was all around him, screaming. It rang in his ears and tugged at his beating heart. Yet he continued on past the silent call. He could never run away from it, he never wanted to. His powers were suppressed - greatly - but not all of it was gone. In leaked out about him, a tendril at his fingertips. Perhaps if he had more could do more. But, at that time, that was not his mission. That time would come eventually. Perhaps he would stop here first. If it was still around...
But, once reaching the destination, he was left with a courteous dip of the head. This was it, was it? This door opened inwards. Turning, he shut it behind him while taking note to remember to open it the other direction next time. "You don't mind?" he asked without turning around at first. Though, he turned and smiled at the only other person in the room. "I hope I am not interrupting anything?" He placed his hand on the nearest chair. "May I? My name is Abdiel Jasiek."

Egzist ((Here is the post towards Velia if you want to consider this slave)) I can't escape, though I am far away. Far away from lands that show no mercy. ∮The Forgotten Plaything∮ "I wonder if...Claire is well..." The porcelain skinned teen sat on the bed of his appointed hotel room in wait for someone to 'pick him up'. Of course, with all this time he had, he reminisced on his past interactions with Claire, the scientist who took a liking to him. He could still never comprehend why she treated him so nicely nor why she acted so strange around him. She was always so flushed around him and would even have him accompany her to bed, though they never really did anything. His eyes trailed down to the small crack in his synthetic skin, showing that he was in need of a good cleaning and washing. Levial began to remember where he got the crack from. He recalled the day after his completion. He was being released for the very first time and he was still adjusting to the way his body felt. He was like a newborn. He was trying to help Claire clean her house. He was on the ladder in order to dust the large chandelier but when he was finished, he tried climbing down. on his way down, he knocked an expensive vase off of the shelf. He dived for it and ended up damaging his arm. Claire was more angry that he had put himself in danger. And he was...happy that she was...
But again, Levial could not understand. He was lifeless. Literally a soulless doll. Though slavery might have been his purpose all along since he was created secretly as a pleasure doll. He didn't find this out until the day the put him in the slave trade as a rare experiment. This was only a week ago. He felt a sense of longing and a pull that made him want to go back to Claire. Unfortunately for him, she was gone. She was stationed out in One of the American branches of NexGen Inc., the corporation that created him. In a way, he preferred to be away from her for the fact that if NexGen knew that she was keeping him, they would come after her.
He would just have to adjust. Hopefully he would find an owner that would treat him kindly like Claire...but he would just be happy to have an owner to take him from this hotel. It felt like a cage. Like the capsule he was stored in back at the corporation.
He laid back down on his bed, taking in the sweet aroma of his scented sheets. But he cared nothing for them. He would rather be in the forest, resting under a tree like he would always do. When allowed, at least. But soon, hopefully, he would leave this place.
He continued to ponder on about all that's happened to him. At least until he heard other voices outside the door. He sighed and stood up, walking over to the door.
Levial hesitated for a moment before he kneelt down on his left leg and put his ear to the door, listening to the numerous voices outside his door. He heard them pass by his door numerous times. At that moment, he wished that Claire was on the other end of the door. But then again, as humans say, it's best to move on. Why did he feel so...alone? Why was solitude such a horrid and dreadful feeling?
He gave a soft sigh before standing up and backtracking to the bed. He sat down in a rather feminine looking position. "Someone...help me leave this place..." I shall gather a soul for this empty vessel. ∮Levial Euphoria∮

x x w a f f l e s x x w a f f l e s x x xxxSitting at the small table in her room, the woman clad in white had her ankles crossed neatly off to the side as she read a novel in silence. A pot of tea on a silver tray sat in warm silence as steam rose from the china cup that was cooling on it's lonesome. A tray of scones with jam and cream sat nearby as well, and all the woman in white did was continue reading. Eirawen wasn't hungry, not yet anyway. She'd only just stepped out a cold shower after all, and while the cloak that hung over her shoulders was confusing, there was a reason for it. Aside from the fact that the cape was a part of the dress she wore, the silk item was much better at keeping her cool compared to other types of material. In fact, the small array of clothing that hung in her wardrobe in her room was mostly made up of silks and lightweight cotton, all in styles that promoted low body temperatures.
xxxTurning a page of her novel, Eira looked over the book at the china cup billowing out steam. Picking up a bookmark sitting on the table, she shut the book and allowed herself a moment to eat something. The chance that someone would knock on her door was rather high, as for some reason Rare slaves seemed to be the most popular. Dolloping some raspberry jam onto the scone, a food item she hadn't come to like until she left Iceland and found herself on the other side of Europe. It was nice, simple, and the tartness of the jam was very nice. Looking at the bright red globule, she stared at it for a moment. Didn't they call it something different in another country? Jelly, or something like that?
xxxYet, across the course of the few weeks she'd been in the Hotel, the woman had become slightly bored with the routine. Even if she changed it up herself by asking for foods from her homeland, or for the simplest meals to satisfy a taste, it was just becoming one big blur. Yet, it wasn't so bad. The rooms was spacious and comfortable, she could adjust the temperature to suit herself thanks to the fans supplied (the collar and wards had reduced her to nothing but a boring human in this place), and the quietness was actually quite tolerable. It was simple, and Eirawen liked simple. Sure the shower had confused her the first time (why did it have a lever and not handles?), and the automatic blinds had taken a few days to get used to, but the bright side was that she hadn't been here the longest. Admittedly three weeks was a long time to most others, but the fact that some guards still didn't know her name or tried to change the temperature in her room, that was a pretty good indication she was still new enough to the Hotel. New merchandise was generally better, right?
xxxScones gone, a second cup of tea poured for herself, and Eirawen had moved to the comforts of her bed. Toes wriggling happily as she read a 1950's trashy romance novel, the woman was quite happily curled up on the large bed. The novel admittedly made her blush here and there, the style of writing from back in the 50's was vastly different to some of the novels in this era; those novels tended to be a lot more... Well, to put it simply, they made her blush a lot more than the out-dated ones she enjoyed. Curling her legs up beside her, the thin white leggings kept her modest and comfortable while the dress under the cape was elegant and feminine. Nothing Eirawen owned was revealing or anything less than ladylike. Yet, it was also weird that she wore clothes that were meant for summer and spring during winter times. The woman could have easily chosen to act like the humans and wear typical winter clothing during her season, but this was one of the few things she still had that represented what she was in this place.
xxxWithout meaning to, Eirawen dozed off amongst the soft pillows on her bed. Curling up like an arctic fox, the napping woman did awake until an odd sound met her ears. Footsteps, near her door? No-one came to her door, they generally just kept walking. No-one wanted a living ice sculpture these days, or an on-command snow machine. All everyone wanted was a pleasure slave or a healer, or something so rare she hadn't even known that species existed. So when the door opened inwards, the woman quickly scrambled to her feet, her river of hair falling about her shoulders. Her longish hair was something she adored; it was longer than her shoulders but it didn't quite reach her elbows. A man had entered, and before he turned around, asked if she minded. Surprising, but she didn't mind. "You are welcome." Came her gentle voice, the Scandinavian accent mildly noticeable.
xxxWatching him turn around, there was something about the male that confused Eirawen. His face had the perfect oval shape that so many sought to create with hairstyles or make up. It ended in a delicately shaped chin, and his eyes were that of an expressive person. He wasn't human, she could tell that much. Shaking her head to indicate he wasn't interrupting, Eira slowly made her way over to the table and chairs, her remnants of her mid-morning snack lingering. "Please, sit, Abdiel Jasiek." Eirawen offered, repeating his name to make sure she had heard it right and could speak it properly. Sitting herself down with the man, the snowy-haired woman folded her hands in her lap while crossing her ankles just off to the side. With a smile, the woman raised a hand to her heart and bowed her head. "My name is simply Eirawen. I am not sure if they told you that or not." Returning her hands to her lap, she offered the man a kindly smile. There was still something about him that she couldn't put her finger on.
xxx"If I may ask... What are you looking for? I don't have many skills, but I can cook and clean. I'm sorry if you find this a little intrusive." Smiling politely, Eirawen found it usually best to get the obvious out the way. If men wanted a pleasure slave, she wasn't the one they wanted, and she'd send them away. The Ice Maiden was too kind and gentle to lower herself to that standard. A helper, now she could be a helper. Children, sick family members, the aging, she could help them easily. And maybe even bring some joy to their days with the snowflakes she could create? "I'm an Ice Maiden. I.. Can explain that if you wish?" Again, the woman showed she was open to explaining what she was, and it generally was the deciding factor. If people didn't want a literal ice queen, they tended to leave pretty early on.
