There really wasn't much to do around the house-- t'least, not until everyone else got home or something. Running a hand through bleached locks, Jo shook them out of his face, tilting his head back on the office chair he was on and placing his feet up on the table. He wasn't technically supposed to, but his feet were clean and he'd just finished the chores-- he was definitely entitled to a small break, the house was damned huge.
He wasn't doing anything, really, just sitting there, tossing a pen up and down for the sake of doing it-- boring, boring, boring-- when an unfamiliar voice echoed through the house, reaching his ears as it did so. He'd sensed the wards around the house let someone in, but he figured it was fine if it had let someone in instead of breaching it. Steadying himself on the rolling furniture, Jokul let off with a push of barefeet to the cabinet, propelling him to the hallway. Grabbing hold of the doorframe to steady himself, the eldest Lancaster child poked his head through, looking at the newcomers.
Well. He didn't recognize them, but. . .
"Hey, there," he waved, brushing hair from his eyes again. "Welcome back. Dunno where Mum is, but Dad should be back. Or around." They were seriously small, he thought, looking at the pair. Were they Alice and Jasper? Probably. Tacking on a few more words, he added, "I'm Jo, by the way. Uh, Sera's big brother-- and yours too, I s'pose. If it's okay with you, I mean and, uh-- yeah." Awkwardly ruffling his hair, Jo sat there, waiting for a reply, debating on whether he should poke the silence or something.
He was really out of practice with talking to kids, like damn.

This might be one of the times where Sera could just backflip continuously until something happens to her. She’s in ecstasy! Something at the back of her head told her to calm down. But of course, her current emotion just shooed it away. It’s finally time to see Jo again. After the years he left them, she wondered just how he would look like. Or maybe he’ll just be the same old Jo. Letting her younger siblings first, Sera waited for their parents to open the door.
But someone else did.
She didn’t recognize him at first, but that voice, there’s no mistaking it. ”Jo?” she asked first. She squinted her eyes, taking a closer look at the male. ”Wait a minute, it is you!
“You blasted arse!” She tackled him, her luggage forgotten. Though when she realized what she said she immediately turned to the young ones. ”Oh no,” she gasped, ”You did not hear that. Please don’t tell me to Mum and Dad.” She closed her eyes for a moment, then looked back at his big brother. She started to… playfully hit his chest with her fists, holding back the tears.
”You have a lot of explaining to do!” She glared at her brother first before standing up, taking her luggage again. ”Let’s go Alice and Jasper,” she gently instructed, walking into the house. She placed her trunk next to the couch then sat down.
Okay, at first she thought it’ll be a nice reunion she planned in her head, but when she saw him she realized that she was a bit angry too. Well… I have my reasons, she reminded herself and glared at her brother again. ”Well, how about you tell us about your stories, big brother?” She asked sweetly.
Alice blinked as she just stared at Jo in shock at this new person in her life. Jasper instantly went on edge wondering who he was and what he was doing in their house. Before either Hufflepuff could say anything Serafina had a sudden outburst. To Jasper it seemed like this guy wasn’t around very much, like he took off or something. Maybe that’s why they’d never met him.
“We have a brother?” Alice asked before her face lit up. “This is awesome! I’ve always wanted a big brother.” She cried happily before looking to Jasper. He was still unsure of all of this it was to be expected he still hadn’t fully accepted the rest of the family never mind someone new. “Oh my name’s Alice and this is Jasper.”She said remembering they hadn’t really met yet. Alice smiled before looking to her adoptive sister.“We won’t tell promise.” She said making a cross over her heart with her finger.
Jasper gave a light wave as he was introduced before shifting his attention from Jo to Serafina when she headed into the house. Alice at the moment let go of his hand and skipped over to Jo. “Coming Serafina.” Jasper finally spoke as he watched Alice leave his side for once. He didn’t exactly like it but he’d have to get over it he supposed. With that he chased after the older girl.
Alice looked over at Jo before taking his hand. “Don't worry he's like that with everyone, come on.”She said determined to lean him along with the rest of them. That of course would be impossible if he didn’t want to since she was significantly shorter then him not to mention smaller. “Yeah tell us!” Alice cheered wanting to know what Jo had been doing to make him unable to be there for so long. Jasper just took a seat next to Serafina and didn’t say anything like always. He wasn’t going to press for things it wasn’t in his nature.

He had to admit, he wasn't exactly expecting that when he had opened the door.
Sera had grown, what the hell, and she looked different-- more like a lady than a little girl, which probably wasn't a good thing, he suddenly realized in a split-second thunderstruck moment of realization. There would be boys. And boyfriend. And no way was that happening. She was like, what? Sixteen? It didn't take him long to get snapped out of his thoughts at the familiar voice. Jo?, she had asked, and he never really got past "Yea-- Sera, I'm on a chair!!!" as the expletive came-- so expected-- and the ball of fire came down on him, tackling him and the chair and them (but mostly him and the chair, really) to the floor with a crash before the realization at the expletive and consequenced panic-- even more expected-- came too.
Admittedly, though, he had felt very guilty as a big brother when his sister had reprimanded him, a regretful smile coming over his face as he ruffled her hair. "I know, I know. I'm sorry," he groaned, picking himself off the floor and casting a wandless Reparo at the chair as he did so. Fixing himself and dusting his clothes off, the blonde rolled his shoulders, wincing at the slight ache there-- Jesus, Sera got heavy-- as he followed the trio into the living room and plopped down on a separate couch. Taking a deep breath, he looked each one of them sternly and straight in the eye, demeanour now completely serious. Okay," he huffed, getting ready. "What I am going to say must not ever leave this room. This is going to be a one-time thing because what I have done merits this sort of stuff and Mum or Dad finds out, there will be consequences, gotcha? Okay. Also, don't tell Mum and Dad, and don't say the words," he added after a pause. If he was going to do this, then he wasn't going to be some half-arsed tit about this, he was going to do it right. "Okay. So, I am sorry and I apologize, with all of my being for being a complete tit and leaving without so much as a goodbye or even a letter. I am sorry, and I am going to make up for it as best as I can. I can't ask for forgiveness, because only you can give that, but I will do my best to earn it, as is supposed to do." Exhaling with that last word, Jo, sat back against the sofa.
Okay, that had felt good. He'd been holding that back in for a while.
Sitting back and bringing his legs up to sit Indian on the couch, he turned to the smaller pair in the room, a sheepish grin on as he brought up a hand to rub at his hair. Big brother, huh? "I s'pose," he grinned at the brunette, glad to be finally introduced to the newest Lancasters in the family. "It's great to finally meet you guys, Alice, Jasper," he grinned at them both, the exuberant girl and the withdrawn blond. "I'll do my best to be a good one, promise.
At the questions on what he'd been doing, a thoughtful expression came over his face, mulling over the question. "Well, I don't suppose you know about how I left-- it was right after graduation. It was mostly a lot of travelling, writing for a magazine," he shrugged. It was difficult to explain, but it was a pleasant time he had had, even if he had missed his family. Eventually, though, family did win out, he smiled wryly. After all, he had given up his ticket to the world to come back home.

Jasper had been studying for his OWLs since the start of the summer. Alice had given him his space figuring he needed to quiet time to work. However, the fifth year was growing worried about his never ending study patterns. He was going to evidently wear himself out. So to hopefully rise his spirits the Hufflepuff was attempting to make her brother - for all intensive proposes - cookies.
Slaving away after many attempts, Alice succeed in making cookies that didn't taste like saw dust... or dirt... or really anything that didn't taste eatable. Walking upstairs with her cookie and a drink in hand she stopped at the door to where Jasper was studying. 'I hope he doesn't mind me interrupting...'she thought before lightly knocked on the door.
Sitting at one of the tables with books scattered all around Jasper wasn't expecting a knock at the door. "Come in." Jasper said politely as always. Honestly he had no idea what Alice had been up too. So when she walked in and saw a plate of cookies and a drink he looked at her curiously. "What's all this?" he asked her. "I thought you could use a snack." Alice replied placing it next to him. "Thank you, Alice. Wait... did you made these?" With that the Hufflepuff gave a light nod. "You're welcome Jazz." Taking a cookie Jasper was surprised that they tasted pretty good, she must have figured out how while he was too busy studying to notice.
"Want to study with me?"Jasper asked her feeling like she was probably beginning to worry a little about him. "That's okay... I'll leave you too it." He could tell by her voice that Alice didn't really want to leave - she was just being polite. "Alice I would really like it if you stayed."he insisted. "Really?" she looked back at him kind of surprised. She didn't know why, honestly when didn't Jasper want her around. "Yes really." With that Alice agreed to stick around. Hopefully with his help she wouldn't fail her OWLs because honestly she wasn't so sure.
Quack the rainbow parrot flew to the home of Jasper and Alice with letter

Ciao Alice or Jasper depending on who ever is reading this How are your holidays? Sorry It's taken me so long to get back to you but I spent longer in Pisa than expected. Sorry about the Parrot but my owl is in Pisa for the summer and my another owl recently passed away. I hope Quack found you okay not use to using a parrot to send letter. Its a bit if flight back to mine but if you got a spare apple he'll love you for it I am just wonder if we can meet up sometime? I'll be going to Diagon Alley in a couple of hours with Alessandra and also get my books and robes for this year to. If you want to we can meet there in about an hour or so and then Back to mine but it's really up to you. Jasper, I still got your jacket from the Yule Ball as I never got the train back to London. Alessandra meet me at the station and we left head to Pisa. I wasn't mean't t give it back but you hugging me suprised me and made me forget. P.S I miss you guys Talk soon, Valentina.
Leaving Jasper for a break of her own since he was determined to study it he killed himself, Alice walked down to the kitchen. Something red caught her attention from the window and she opened it to get a better look. “A parrot…?” she questioned as it landed with a letter. “Hello… who do you belong too?” she asked taking the letter from him. Looking it over it didn’t take long to know how it was from. “Oh, so you’re Quack. I hear you like applies…” she said as she went over a fruit bowl and grabbed one. Walking over to him she held it out with a flat hand so he could munch away. “I’ll be back with a reply I just need to talk with Jasper. You stay here and enjoy that.”
Running up the stairs to her ‘brother’ Alice smiled as she entered the room. “Hey Jazz, Valentina wants to hang with us.” She said brightly before landing in the seat next to him. “Oh and she says she still has your jacket… why didn’t you tell me she hugged you?” she asked curiously a grin on her face. “Because it wasn’t a bit deal Alice. Regardless I can take a break I guess.” Jasper replied to her playing off hugging Valentina as no big thing. “Not a big deal? Jasper! You should just ask her to go out with you.”She stated. “It wouldn’t be fair to her if I did.”He told her. “What do you mean it wouldn’t be fair?” Alice asked. “Because I have feelings for someone else...” Jasper admitted.
Alice blinked at him completely confused. Who did he have feelings for if not Valentina? “Okay, mind if I ask who?” she asked curiously. Jasper looked at Alice and wondered if he should even bother. Letting out a sigh he said. “If you have to ask then there’s no point in my saying anything.” Shaking her head it was then that Alice knew it was her. “Jasper… I’m sorry… You and I can’t… you know that…” she said wishing it could be different. “Yeah I know.”
Pushing the thought aside Jasper changed the subject back to Valentina. “So, what’s the letter say?” Jasper asked. Alice handed over the letter to him to read before the two figured out what they were going to say. Taking the letter back downstairs Alice gave it to Quack. “Make sure this gets to Valentina okay?” she told it before sending the parrot on his way. Until they meet up with Valentina Alice had a lot to think about it seemed.

Alice, Can't wait to see you this weekend. Got my cousin starting Hogwarts this year. We should Lexine. See ya in few days Val
Alice skipped around the house checking everything over. Today Valentina was coming over for the weekend. Girls only which was kind of nice, she had invited Lexine but wasn’t sure if she would be coming or not. Hopefully she would, if not it would be just the two of them which was okay by her. Rounding the corner Alice landed right into Jasper. “Oh… sorry Jazz.” She apologized as she stepped back from him.
Jasper wasn’t at all surprised seeing as today was the day everyone was coming over. “It’s okay.” He said waving it off as nothing. “The girls coming over today?” he asked casually. “Yeah, today’s the day.” Alice replied. “Don’t worry I’ll stay out of the way. You won’t even know I live here.” Jasper told her. “Thanks Jasper I’ll see you later okay.”She said rushing off down the hall.
Just like during the school year it appeared Alice was avoiding him. Luckily for her, for the whole weekend she wouldn’t have too. Walking in the opposite direction, Jasper hoped this weekend would help Alice rejuvenate. If not maybe she’d get her head on straight…
