"Oh." Delta looked to where the stallion had disappeared to, and then commented absently, "That's how Mama said she and Papa got together." Papa, of course, being Cairbre Dio.
At the reply to his second question, the stallion gave Lacey an odd look, tilting his head. "So?" he asked incredulously. "What difference has that ever made? Our blood father wasn't a good Azrien either. That's what everyone says, at least. I don't remember him all that much..."

Lacey frowned at her brother's comparison of that stranger and her step-dad. "Because the father's mate hurt you bad, Del.. He tried to kill you to get me to come south with him,... cause you tried to stop me and I didn't listen..." She said softly as the blankets began to squirm in their sleep.
Delta smiled. "But that doesn't mean your kids are gonna be bad. We turned out alright, didn't we?" He nudged his sister gently, his innocent expression bright and full of loving support. "Why don't we go let Mama know she's a Grandma?"

Lacey watched her brother and listened to him, fighting back the tears. For what he'd been through and what he couldn't remember, he was as sweet as ever and kind and caring, and everything Mama had tried to instill in them as foals. "Only if you'll stay by me..." She said softly, wanting the support, especially since it felt like her legs were still shaking from attacking that Bayrel.
Delta blinked and smiled all the brighter. "Of course!" Although he didn't know it, his enthusiastic agreement was a much more different response than the one his sullen colt self would've given. Although he was still a bit of a scaredy-cat, there was no fear in his dealings with family members anymore.

Lacey blinked, almost shocked by the difference in attitude from when they were foals, but she shook it off and stood up, ushering the blankets to do so as well while she waited for Delta to lead her and the three babies.
Delta got to his feet, gently nuzzling the nearest blanket before leading his sister and her children back towards home. He just smiled at his mother's second-long confusion and her instant fussing. Well, if it could be called fussing; it was the quietest fussing he'd ever seen.
Beta was puzzled for a moment as to why Lacey and Delta were being accompanied by foals, but it quickly clicked. That's why she'd been so anxious earlier... She redirected her children and grandchildren to a quiet spot near where she and Cairbre rested. It was out of the way and peaceful, so that Lacey and her foals wouldn't feel so overwhelmed by the crowd.

Lacey followed her mother silently and settled down next to the foals, extending her wing over them for privacy while they ate. She looked up at her mom and tried to read her expression before she said anything. "Mama... This is Remus, Roman, and R----" She said, poking at each foal in turn.
Beta smiled, laying down by her daughter and nuzzling the foals one by one. "They're beautiful, sweetie," she said softly. Then she nuzzled Lacey herself. "I just wish you didn't have to take the hard road to get them like I did..." The pain, the loneliness, the sense of betrayal... she wouldn't wish that on anyone, especially not her own daughter. But it had happened, and it was done. Now all Beta could do was support Iota and her children the best she could...

Lacey shook her head and looked down at her blankets. "I don't think I'd have them any other way, Mama." She said, looking back up at her mother.
Beta smiled again. "Maybe so..." Her expression brightened as she continued. "Since you are on this path, I hope you follow one like mine..." Her turquoise eyes shone. "... and find someone that loves you more than anything." Nuzzling the little blankets, she added, "You should go see Plouton. He'll be ecstatic to see you again."

Lacey looked away, her thoughts immediately going to that stranger. Grimm he said his name was. At the mention of going to see Pluto she shook her head. "I don't wanna leave them again so soon.. They were just attacked by a bayrel not long ago and I don't want them getting scared cause I'm gone." She replied. Grimm... Did her mother know who he was?
Beta nodded her understanding. "Do you want me to call him over here?" she questioned. She didn't want to just go and do it; after all, if her children were just attacked by a bayrel, she might not be up to visitors... She looked very... well, pensive. "Iota?" Was she alright?

Lacey looked back up at her mom. {color=orange]"Huh? Oh.. Sorry Mama.. I was just thinking... Do you know a male by the name Grimm?" She asked with a tilt of her head.
Beta thought about it. "I don't think so... I don't know many outside our family, though. I could ask Dee," she offered. Haides knew a lot more Azrien than she did. Maybe he'd know.
