I don't have the sites on me readily to PM, but they're easy enough to find on a google search.

Basically what Rath said, You should be able to find some FE6 patches pretty easily somewhere on google. I can't say much else about it since it's against gaia's Tos.

Also FE6 is already pretty challenging on normal mode. Think of it like Eliwood's hard mode right off the bat, or probably a bit more difficult than that. Of course the RNG is pretty bad for the axe users.... And yeah... sweatdrop

Just going to make it short since I'm still under the weather. >.<

Best: Although I should give this to FE9 Ike, I'm giving it to Ephraim instead. This is because I like my unit to have a balance stats and it was a close tie between Ephraim and Chrom. However, Ephraim has better defense than Chrom does in their pre-promote stage. And even though Ike can powerhouse the game and able to take care of his own due, his stats makes me feel like he's literally broken as if he's a hacked character even though he isn't... sweatdrop

Worse: Although I haven't finish the game, I like to give my vote to Micaiah. If not, then the vote is given to Eirika instead. Reason why I like to give my vote to Micaiah is... Well, call me paranoid, but she makes me feel like she's a fragile Lord, even more fragile than Eirika and even when I maxed her level out. sweatdrop I believe it was because she's a mage unit and I'm quite aware that mage unit don't have high evasive and defense stats against waves of melee fighters. I haven't try her in her promoted class, but I still couldn't help feel like she's fragile... sweatdrop

Now in case Eirika gets voted in, the reason I choose her is because... Well, as I stated earlier, she seems fragile to me. sweatdrop I haven't played FE6 to see how Roy is, but I know quite well how fragile Eirika is. Sure, she can handle herself well when being promoted and she did quite well on evading. However, her defense doesn't impress me when she takes hit as well as attacking the enemies.

Just to note, Ephraim and Chrom have the same base defense growth and base defense stat. The only difference is that Chrom starts at level 1, while Ephraim starts at level 4. Chrom even gets one more point of defense when he promotes to Great Lord than Ephraim. Just sayin'. Not sure why you'd think of either Ephraim or Chrom when wanting to award best lord for being balanced, though.

On the note of comparing lords, I continue to be baffled by how bad people say Eirika is, when she's statistically a completely superior version of Lyn. People say "oh, she's so frail" or "oh, she doesn't cut it for me" and yet Lyn never faces the same complaints.
PostPosted: Mon May 27, 2013 12:51 pm

I'd say there's bias about character. Not that there aren't people who dislike Lyn's character, but I'm slowly killing them off in their sleep I mean what who said that moving on.

I think Lyn mode may also have something to do with it. As America's first FE game, that mode was designed specifically to introduce us to the ins and outs of the game, thus making it like a tutorial mode. FE8 is pretty easy itself, but I think Lyn is better able to take advantage of her mode where she'll always be able to stand on her own and then get to a pretty nice level for when she comes back in, whereas Eirika might need Seth to bail her out a few times at the very start. For instance, while she is capable of handling the prologue boss on her own, it's still easy for her to die.

So, you'll have Lyn at very good standing throughout her entire route, coming back in later at a very good level. The allies she gets in her route don't overshadow her in terms of usefulness- Wallace will come in, but he kind of sucks and Rath isn't all that higher than her. (and needs to get the steel bow to even do damage to Lundgren) Meanwhile, Eirika pretty quickly gets units that are proving to be more useful than her very early on. Plus, people might choose to take Ephraim's route (the better path, sorry to Joshua), which will leave her a pain to train back up when you get her back.

Maybe that could explain it.

I think it mostly comes down to character bias more than good reasoning.

The first segment of FE8 also functions as a tutorial of sorts with Eirika as your main Lord. I'd definitely consider her to be as good here as Lyn is in Lyn mode, the biggest difference being Eirika exists with Seth around and Lyn doesn't have an equivalent easy-button. There are lots of axe users she takes advantage of just as there are in Lyn Mode.

But Eirika also has a number of other things that benefit her such as getting Sieglinde before the final chapter (and Sieglinde is a really great personal weapon for her compared to the Sol Katti: 'dat +5 Strength compared to +5 Res, not to mention Eirika's promotion gives +2 con as opposed to Lyn's +1 piled on top of Sol Katti having a weight of 14 and Sieglinde having a weight of 9 making it a much easier to wield weapon), getting a horse upon promotion (better than bows), having lots of supports that are also mounted and having a much better support affinity to go with it.

Further, people seem to be willing to put Ephraim as the best lord or among the best lords, when he can be gone for the vast majority of the game if you go Eirika's route just as Eirika disappears for a while if you go Ephraim's route. This is a really significant setback. But this is never brought up when talking about Ephraim. It should at least be considered if Eirika disappearing for a while is considered.

I really think it comes down far more to the fact that people just don't like Eirika and let that bias seriously influence their decision, because she's a perfectly fine Lord unit. Good, in fact, even if not competition for best lord.

But people don't like Eirika and they do like Ephraim, so Ephraim's setbacks are far less frequently mentioned.

Best: Speaking stat-wise, and for overall utility, I have to go with Ephraim. I like the balance that comes with his stats, and how he has been consistently RNG proof in all of my runs in FE 8. I don't remember ever having to baby him, and his starter weapon (I forget what it's called, but it was awesome.) He has good support options to boost his offense (I did Eirika/Ephraim support because Fire/Light affinity is freaking BOSS.) When he promotes, he also gets the mobility advantage.

Worst: (Again, speaking stat-wise and utility-wise)... Roy. (Nothing against our Roy here, I promise.) He is just so fragile, and his stat growths don't do much for me. One of the number one reasons (besides FE 6's RNG being merciless and cruel) I would lose the game is because I would lose him, despite my best efforts.

Honorable mention goes to Micaiah for also being very fragile, and not very useful.

Hey guys this week's topic is something I didn't actually bring up and it was suggested by Tiki last week. This weeks topic is: Jeigan (For help with this topic go here: http://fireemblem.wikia.com/wiki/Archetype#Jagen)
PostPosted: Sun Jun 02, 2013 10:46 am

Best: Seth. Typical is typical.

Worst: FE3 Arran. Funny man with those 10% growth rates. Sure, he can use his silver lance, but there is no room for funny men once things get Sirius.
FE1 Jeigan is similarly weak, but unlike Arran, he does not get so quickly outclassed.

Best: Frederick
With reclassing and the ability to go back to an unpromoted class, Freddy can get the most levels of any Jeigan I know. So, even if his growths aren't the best, I found myself using him a lot even once I got better units.

Worst: Marcus (FE6)
I had to do a bit of research for this one, but Marcus had to worst growth rates out of all the Jeigans in games I've played. I tend to just not use any of the Jeigans (except for Seth and Sothe) once I got more units, so I never got a good feel for which is really worst with my style of play. So, I'll let the growth rates speak for themselves.

Best: Seth

By 100,000 miles. There's totally no competition. For reasons outlined here (where you should totally go post after you post here).

Worst: FE3 Arran.

The worst Jeigan is definitely NOT FE6 Marcus who can pull his weight for a very substantial amount of time. It's a Jeigan who soon has to compete with a completely superior version of someone with the same class very soon into their game. Siriusly, by chapter 4 he has no niche anymore.

FE3 version is worse than the FE12 version because reclassing exists and lets Arran serve a variety of other uses despite being so outclassed. Need a flier to go after that cave? Arran can do it. Need an extra healer just to make things easier on yourself? Just reclass Arran. Want to go visit the secret shop but not waste one of your strong character to do so? Arran is as up for the job as anyone. I think FE12 Arran is more useful for that reason despite his arguably worse performance combat-wise (all those prologue chapters to boost up the rest of your starting party and lack of growth-boosting shards). Never underestimate reclassing on the DS games.

And can I just say that Jeigans are sometimes totally underestimated? When I was doing my FE11 draft where Jeigan was free, for which my turn count wasn't all that much higher than the lowest possible turn count without warp staves, Jeigan was always useful to me. All the way through the final chapter. And that's with one of the worse Jeigans in the series. They're not always among the strongest units in the game but that hardly means they aren't able to be of use.

Best: Frederick

Worst: Marcus (FE7)

Although people claim that Marcus from FE6 is terrible than Marcus FE7, I didn't choose Marcus FE6 since I haven't play the game.

...So you choose a Jeigan as best, but an Oifey as worst?

...............Kay. Whatevs. Doesn't mean you can't lookup stats/growths.

Best: Seth
I really don't think he's best quite by 100,000 miles. Maybe like one mile. Titania is right on his heels. They're very similar, him being slightly better stat/growth-wise in my opinion. Seth has one more support option than her, but the same amount of affinity options: 3. However, Titania can support with Ike and his earth affinity. But, I'd say Seth's affinity boosts are better than what she offers. I'll vote him because he's more needed in his game than Titania is in hers, if only just at the start.

Worst: FE3 Arran
I was going to say Jeigan, until I remembered how siriusly Arran gets outclassed so early on.
