xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Giving her a small smile, Brookelle decided to sit as well. "It's nice to meet you,Priscilla. My name is Brookelle." She shoved her hands into the pockets of her hoodie and placed her right leg over her left. The hoodie was uncomfortable to sit in but she didn't know if she wanted to just wear a bikini again. She hated being self-conscious about things like that but it's just how she is. Looking over at the ocean she sighed. She would definitely have to take of the big jacket to go swimming. Unless she wanted to look ridiculous and have to sit in a soaking wet hoodie for the rest of the day or risk putting it in her bag and have everything in there get wet.

Zhi narrowed her eyes and stared hard at the girl standing in front of her, a frown marring her features as she gauged the pinkie's appearance. She was cute, young, and had some really nice curves, but Zhi only had eyes for River – which.. she was pretty sure was the same for her wife. She hoped. She crossed her arms over her chest and her frown grew. Great! Now she was feeling all insecure because Ms. My-Breasts-Are-Organically-Grown had to come over and start singing while being all young!
She grit her teeth to try to relieve some of that built up frustration, but that didn't make her voice any less irate when she finally opened her mouth to respond. “No. It did not. I mean, I do have ears, so--” Right, she needed to take a deep breath right now or else she would make herself seem bad when River was watching. She paused, breathed, and continued in a 'pleasanter', though still strained, tone, “What I mean to say is that I would be very happy to join you, if you would allow me? I sing too and it's not common to find other girls who like to do it so publicly.” Most were too shy, after all.

Penelope could clearly tell the other woman was upset with her. And she didn't want to upset her even further so she just nodded her head yes and looked toward Kenneth. "What song would you like to sing?" She spoke a little softer then earlier but kept a sweet tone to her voice. "My brother there plays pretty much anything."
Hearing what she said, the boy flashed the two a smile before fiddling with his guitar some more. He was curious what song they would want him to play. Or what kind of music they would want to sing. He didn't want to decide on that himself. Especially since he wasn't going to be the one singing. He would probably pick a song that both of the girls wouldn't know.

While the twins were busy enjoying the attention of their mother, Erika had kind of drifted off, truth be told. She never really had much of an attention span, plus talking about June wasn't really her idea of fun. Plus, something about Yuri seemed a bit off, and the blonde had an innate instinct to avoid any kind of awkwardness. Though, she didn't notice Yuri's little break down and noted it as a reason to avoid talking even more. Though, she did at least have to say something. "Is that so?" Erika responded with a nervous chuckle, feeling a bit off because of Yuri's behavior. She smiled politely as her acquaintance began talking to the other older person who had accompanied her. Erika felt kind of bad for the situation. She must have been so overcome with wanting to be with her children! Why else would she be acting this emotional. And blatantly making the young woman uncomfortable. Erika wanted to pat Yuri on the back, if it wasn't for the fact that she hated to touch people. So, the best she could do was say a good-bye, "I see... You guys have to get goi- Ah. Ray!"Walking up behind Yuri and Junior came Ray King, pale as ever under the hot summer sun. His eyes were the usual state of blank and his stare seemed to be analyzing the situation intensely. "Hey," He spoke energetically in response to Erika then turned to see his ex-sister-in-law. It had been awhile since Ray had met face to face with Yuri, especially since in the wonderful game of divorce, the younger King sibling would of course be on team June. However, he really didn't care either way, seeing how he felt both were in the wrong for ever deciding to get together in the first place. But, that was besides the point. Ray was here after running into a kid-less June who told him the twins location. Now, the white haired man wasn't such a great uncle that he would go on a whim to come see his niece and nephew for the hell of it, yet he did so anyway. Mostly because he had finally given up on a new project and wanted to spend sometime at the festival. He never expected to run into Yuri though. Even if it was highly likely to do so. "It's been awhile," He greeted her with his normal, unimpressed monotone, "You leaving?"---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, this was a twist in events. Icis bullies an unsuspecting rich girl. Said rich girl cries for help summoning a physically impressive man. Some crazy lady who seems to think shes a cat sticks up for Icis and rich girl demands one of them be thrown into the water. Somehow the situation drove the man wild enough to attack his own employer. And where did this leave Icis? Confused and astonished. Also a bit upset. Rich girl was her toy after all... Ah hell, screw it. Icis turned to Catrina and patted her head, cats liked that right? She then began to walk away, washing this whole event off her hands before it left a bad taste in her mouth. And, what did she decide to do? Well, that was obvious. Her eyes locked on to her two buddies who didn't seem to tell her that they were coming to the festival. Of course she had to politely confront them about such a thing. Icis approached Miah and Julian with a big smile. She rose her hand and greeted her friends energetically, Julian especially with a LARGE pat on the back. "Hey guys," She said energetically, "Fancy meeting you here!"---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mimi's volleyball sounded a lot like dodge ball. Maybe that's just how regular teens played! If it was, Talon had to try and learn the new age style of playing in order to have fun with his new friends. And it seemed his first order of business was to form some kind of compound robot volley ball machine. Talon looked at his teammates, either of them looking pretty easy to pick up. However, picking up a female seemed a bit embarrassing for the red head. It would be like those teen school dramas his sisters would watch on the T.V. It made him blush a little just thinking about it. He shook his head of the thought and gave himself a slap on the cheek to focus. "Okay!" He responded to the order with a roar of energy. He picked up Maddy like a small pillow and lifted him onto his shoulders with only a little struggle. Talon was no superman, but Maddy was no heavyweight. "H-H-Hey!" Maddy protested at first but quickly shut his mouth. Talon was much bigger than him, so the little kid had to be wary of the rest. And the red head, well he felt all the thrills of being one of those combining robots in comics or movies. It made him feel invincible, ready to take on the world. Or a small, energetic teenage girl.

She smiled slightly in a mischievous way. Normally, she would resist the urge to show off, but Zhi couldn't help it at the word 'anything'. “Anything?” She set her fingers to her chin thoughtfully and considered the latest in what she had been listening to. There had been that one CD sent to her, courtesy of her aunt who enjoyed keeping Zhi updated in what was trending in her hometown. Or she believed that was what was trending – it could just be what Aunt Min-ya was listening to, but that was beside the point.
She looked to the boy, “Do you know anything by Dream Girls? You know, the one that goes like..” She paused to straighten her back and sing the first line or two, “Wǒ lái zìnǐ xīn lǐ nà gè mèng jìng, duì zhù nǐ..” Oh, no. Now she was forgetting the lyrics! Her cheeks colored through her makeup, but she didn't allow that embarrassment to show for much longer as she flipped her hair. It wasn't like they could possibly know what she was saying anyway. She cleared her throat, “You know, that one?”

"Oh, well okay," Usagi said, deciding to forget whatever it was Kade was talking about. "Do you need to get a drink or anything?" she suddenly piped up afterwards, thinking about his sun comment. Come to think of it, it was really hot out, and a cool, refreshing drink would be nice. However, that was not the conversation at hand, nail painting was! "All kinds of colors," the woman began, "really bright yellows, and corals, oh and lilac was always really nice" she started to go on, but stopped, not knowing how to answer the man's Alexander Wang and Celine comment. Sure she had heard of Alexander Wang, but Celine? What? She didn't have the time or money to keep up with fancy brands like that, and so she nodded and smiled in response.
Hair? Wait who's hair? She really needed to pay more attention to her surroundings, but after a short look around she noticed the blue haired female close by. "Oh wow," Usagi noted, had his really been that blue? What a fun color! While she did appreciate it, she could never do something like that to her own. There was no way she could pull it off. ------------------------ Great! Both her teammates already knew how to play. They could win for sure now! Okay, so it was probably a bit silly to get competitive over a silly beach volley ball game with some teenagers and a child, but that was beside the point right now. The point right now was introductions, "I'm Mitsukai," the woman said smiling. They were so gonna win this, she just knew it.
She looked to the one other older player asking about the net height, "That's perfect!" she decided, giving him a thumbs up. Just because the question wasn't directed at her didn't mean she wasn't going to give her opinion. She was so ready to start until Mimi piped up again, "That's not how volleyball works," she said, giving the teenager a rather confused look. "There's no shoulder climbing, or knocking people down." she attempted to explain, but was already afraid the girl would refuse to listen. She stopped for a moment to look to her teammates who were had already done as the girl had told them. "No, no, put him down." she said to Talon in the most authoritative voice she could manage. There was no way they were going to try to call this volleyball. ------------------------ "No point in trying to hide it now," Elizabeth told her. The girl was creeping and they both knew it. Elizabeth smiled in satisfaction, knowing that she was indeed right. Then again, how could she ever not be right? Everyone knew that something like that could never happen. For one to merely suggest that she could be wrong was proof that the person was completely and utterly stupid. However, this girl did not seem to be that stupid, just in denial. She was certainly smart enough to recognize that Elizabeth was pretty, and that was plenty smart enough!
"But that's the best part," Elizabeth whined in protest. "How can you not want them to look back?" she asked the girl, completely bewildered. "Oh well, it's not like you have to worry. They're all going to be looking at me anyway," she told her newfound friend. "I'm Elizabeth!" she returned the introduction.

Xeiro had three towels thrown over his shoulder and a wide smile on his face. He approached the beach and abruptly stopped to place his hands on either hip and examine the wonderful view in front of him. He was happy to have the whole family out and about together on such a beautiful day, they didn't get this kind of time together very often. He was as thankful as ever that he could close up shop and celebrate the return of the best of all seasons: summer! He even took the opportunity to try out his brand new speedo. Of course, his body wasn't quite as toned as it was in his younger days. He was aging and had even less time to work out when he desperately needed more. His ego didn't even notice the change, however, and he felt sexy as ever standing there for everyone to take in his masculine glory. He smiled over at Beatrice and Lyra, "What do you say we find a lovely place to sit out and enjoy the sun?" He nodded to himself, not really needing their response. He was the man of the house and if he wanted them all to go bask in the sun, they were going to do it!
He made his way across the beach and found a lovely little spot that was just far enough from the water that they wouldn't get splashed, but close enough so they could enjoy it all. The sun wasn't so blinding from this perfect spot, either. Man, he did a good job. Everything he did was just so wonderful. He grabbed the first of the towels off of his shoulder and fanned it out before placing it on the sand, he did this two more times and then sat. It had been quite some time since he had been at the beach, and he wanted to thoroughly enjoy every second of it. "The view isn't all too bad from here either." He said, barely audible, as he surveyed all of the lovely bathing suits around him. Sure, he was a good deal older than 90% of them, but that didn't mean that he couldn't enjoy the view. He wasn't creepy enough to try and touch, well at least not without asking.
_________________________
Beatrice was beaming in her lovely sunhat and bathing suit. Modesty was a very important part of maintaining her ladylike image, and she'd be damned if she was going to ruin it by walking around half-dressed. How would she ever find her prince charming if she flaunted off all of her goods? No one wants the kind of man that attracts. Speaking of that kind of man... She walked right into Xeiro's back, dropping the bag she was holding and losing grip on the handle of the cooler. "Xeiro! What in the world did you stop right in front of me for?!" She tried to scold him while she shook the sand off of her bag before sliding it back to her shoulder. She noticed he wasn't listening to her at all as he announced that he would find a place for them to sit. She didn't even bother responding, just gave a simple nod and grabbed the handle up from the sand.
She followed after him, taking the opportunity to look around and take in all of the sights of beach day. There were several people that really did not need to be wearing what they were, but she was with the worst offender of this rule. She had already thrown away his last speedo, but he found another. She decided she wasn't going to let his stupidity get her down and wheeled the cooler up next to the towels and retrieved a pop (soda D<) for herself before sitting down on the towel next to her brother. She could see a lot of people she recognized from here and made a mental note that she should go greet them later. She even saw some of the kids she had once had in daycare, and felt a bit elderly. As if Lyra being almost as tall as her wasn't enough. "Make sure you put on some sunscreen Lyra, you wouldn't want to burn the first of summer." Her motherly instincts were kicking in yet again.
_________________________
Lyra was happy to be out in her brand new bathing suit! Aunty Bea had told her that it was far too revealing when they purchased it, but that only made her want it more. She rolled her eyes at her father as he stopped and stared at everything, there would be plenty of time for that when he found somewhere for them to sit. There was no need to stand here like a buffoon and embarrass her! She was overjoyed when he began walking to go find something and took this chance to strut around for anyone that may be watching. Surely some one would be looking at her beautiful new bathing suit. She noticed a great amount of people that looked familiar, but that was bound to happen when her entire life had been spent here.
She was fixing her hair, trying to look her best when Aunty Bea had brought up sunscreen. "Shhhhhhhhhh!" She hissed, and crouched down next to her. "I'm not a little kid anymore!" She begrudgingly grabbed the bottle of sunscreen up out of the bag and rubbed it on herself as quickly as possible, hoping no one would notice how embarrassing this all was. Why couldn't she have been reminded when they were still home? Now that she was fully protected from the big, bad sun... She sat down, stretching her legs out in front of, attempting to accentuate her figure as she leaned back on her hands.

Raiden's arms were full with all of the things that meant beach day to his little family. Family. He could never quite get used to that. It had just been him and his sister for so long. Then it was him and Haruka, and that was a big change. Now, everything had become so much different with a little bundle of baby. He looked over and smiled at them as he trekked through the sand, enjoying the feel under his feet. It had been awhile since he had been to the beach, they weren't much for the great outdoors. That was exactly why he had the comically large umbrella tucked under his arm. He found a place in the sand that was not occupied and allowed them to put their backs to the sun. He dropped the two bags and umbrella down to the ground to free his hands to properly set up their little piece of paradise.
He laid out some towels under the umbrellas and sat down before grabbing a stuffed animal out of one of the bags and sat it next to him. "Is here good?" He looked up at Haruka, just realizing that he hadn't much consulted her about where they would be spending most of the day. He smiled over at Axel and shook the toy a little, hoping he liked this one. There were oh so many toys lying around the house. How was he to know which one was his favorite? Being a dad was hard.
_________________________
Riley was pretty glad that he could get down to the beach. It wasn't very often that he had a day completely to himself, but he always tried to make it to as many of the festivals as possible. It was the best way to see everyone around, after all. Even some of the people that never leave their homes take time to go to the festivals. He was also pretty happy to show off his latest addition to summer attire. It was a tradition for him to purchase a new bathing suit every year, and this year he was pretty proud of what he found. It had the perfect mix of unique and sexy to work perfectly for him. So, he went with it. He was a bit upset that his brother and sister didn't want to come along as he barely got to see them anymore. But, he'd have to make do with all of these lovely people. He found a place to sit in the sand and began working on sculpting something. Something that he had not yet determined, at this point he was just mindlessly spitting into the sand and trying to form some sort of shape.
_________________________
Morgan did not want to be here. He wanted to be home. He had almost made a breakthrough last night with teleportation. He could have sworn he made it from the living room to the bathroom, without remembering it. Of course, he hadn't had much sleep in around a week either. But, that had nothing to do with why he found himself at the beach in a full body swimsuit. His mother had made him promise that he would try his hardest to make friends, so he felt it necessary to at least show up to three festivals per year. This just happened to seem like as good as any. Now that he stood here, already drenched in sweat, he couldn't quite remember why he had picked this festival.
He decided the water was a good option in his current hot state. So, he walked towards the water in his zombie-like walk that came from his body crying out for sleep. He wasn't even thinking about the sharks, or the barracuda, or the piranha, or the jellyfish, or the regular old fish when he slipped into the water and just kind of sat on the edge of the beach. He allowed the waves to hit the legs of his suit and he felt a little bit of comfort.

Looking over Kenneth could clearly see the woman blushing. Why? He didn't know. But he did know what she was trying to do. Or at least he thought he did. Moving his hand to brush his bangs out of his brown eyes. Making sure he looked into hers. "I'm afraid I don't know that song. Penelope is right though usually I play anything but i have to have heard the song at least once before." He then turned his attention back to his guitar, gently tapping his hand against it as he tried to think of a few songs. "You have a pretty voice by the way." The comment was added a little late but he thought he should say it anyways. He wasn't lying or anything he did like this girl's singing. Sighing he looked back up at the girls "So anything else that you would want to sing?"
Penelope smiled at her brother. She was so glad he spoke up and actually said something instead of making her do all the talking. People made her so nervous sometimes. She then happily took a seat next to him and looked over at Zhi. Waiting for the woman to join them. "Hey Kenny, do you know any songs all three of us would know?"
Kenneth shook his head giving her a small smile, "I'm not picking the song unless I have to."

That had dispelled pretty neatly. Catrina had stood up to defend the honor of the attractive female in hopes of gaining a new mate, but, before she could even extend a claw, the little kit had started to shriek. She sent a withering look to the Sonata kit – she had heard of their stupidity, but she didn't think they lacked instinct completely! Didn't a youth know not to start shrieking when a predator was near? Her kit was smart enough not to do that! Mei shut up completely whenever that disturbing man at her work showed up and even took to finding a proper hiding spot! She was about to hiss at it to tell it to shut up, but the damage had already been done. The dog had turned his eyes onto her and off of Catrina.
She felt her stomach sink as the canine lifted the young, wailing kit into the air and started to march it straight to the water to drown it like.. like the dog he was! She had no better comparison than that! She hissed and spat to try to get him to stop, but it was no use! It may have been how she had stopped before she had reached a high enough volume to get his attention due to the very attractive female petting her, but she was sure it was the dog's mad, driven instinct to commit murder on an innocent feline that was really at play. She drooped slightly as she watched the green-eyed feline leave her before resigning herself to having to rescue the kit. Dim or not, she was still a fellow cat and he was still a dog! She sprung herself up to start chasing after the boy in what should have been proof of her dedication to her own kind.
Instead, it was only a short hop as he fell over and into the sand. “...Dogs always were clumsy oafs, mrawr.” She couldn't help but comment as she stepped over the dog, being sure to pause and kick sand in the direction of his face. It may be one of the few chances she got, after all; dogs weren't normally so obvious! She smiled to herself and went to help the kit onto her feet, which, by Catrina terms, only meant she sat next to her and nudged her with the heel of her foot a few times. The sun was starting to head down, so she wasn't too concerned about the kit now. Her night vision would kick in and the dog would be left with nothing but pathetic dog senses that were useless against a fully realized cat.
Why didn't they say anything yet? Mimi could only hold herself for so long outside of the boundaries of her home! Thirty-two seconds was just way too extreme for the redhead to wait for a reaction that would allow for her to run off with their stuff, so she didn't bother. She let out a long-drawn-out groan as she dropped the ball, let it bounce a few feet back onto the group's towel, and snatched up a package of cheap fireworks instead. She left the good stuff for the people because she didn't feel right just snagging up great fireworks without asking at least, but she did deserve some kind of prize for managing to hold out so long, so cheap works would have to work. She opened the package as she made it back to the group, “Hey, Jeremy, why aren't you on tall guy's shoulder and – Oh, my, Goddess, look!”
Her hands had come across the familiar shape of a party popper. Her eyes sparkled as she pulled it out and admired the cheap plastic popper; she never got to play with these! Her mother was always scared she would blow her finger off or something! (Though that never stopped her from allowing her to use a gun..) She grinned wildly and aimed it to where Talon was standing with some little kid on his shoulders. Why was he doing that again? Oh, who cared! “HEY, Merman! En guarde!” She yanked the string back and laughed at the explosion to follow. This was fun! “Oh, what does this do? Hey, hey, does anyone here have a lighter? Anyone? Does anyone on this BEACH have a LIGHTER?” She waved a handful of small, round balls in one hand as she twisted about to see if anyone would respond, dropping the box and the rest of the common poppers with it. She was more interested in figuring out what these things did!
Ah.. a drink.. Now that Usagi mentioned it, Kade was getting pretty thirsty! And he hadn't even considered bringing something like that with him! Heck, he didn't really bring much beside himself, now that he thought of it; Kade had just jumped up and headed to the beach right after closing shop without a moment of preparation outside of changing into swim attire. He frowned at himself and looked briefly at the bag Usagi had brought, but he seriously doubted that she had much more than herself and maybe Mitsukai in there. He couldn't possibly ask and, even more than that, he couldn't reveal he hadn't had the mind to bring anything for himself! Usagi didn't know him well enough yet and first impressions were important! He subtly looked around the beach to come up with a solution as he replied to the woman, “Oh, wow, good color choices! Lilac and coral are so your colors.”
That guy was way too foul, he didn't know her well enough, that one didn't seem prepared at all, he couldn't possibly impose on such a new couple.. oh, well, good enough. He looked back at Usagi and noted that she didn't exactly deny getting such a drastic color job. He would have to remember that for later! “Yep! Ah, Usagi, actually, I came here to meet someone! Why don't you come with me so we can get something to drink? They were supposed to bring some soda, after all, and it looks like the fireworks are going to start soon.. I wouldn't want you to watch them all by yourself!” Well, maybe in an hour or two; he didn't know the exact time, but the sun was heading down. He stood up and waited for her to follow suit so he could lead the way.
Of course it wasn't the 'best reaction'. It wouldn't be the best reaction because Junior was here making it worse – he didn't know how, really, but he was sure if he thought about it carefully, he could figure out what about him would set Yuri into such a state. ...No, that was a lie – if Junior thought about it carefully, he would realize it had nothing to do with him at all, but that train of thought was worse than the first one. He really had a bad habit of that. The man sighed under his breath at himself and tried to make up for that by watching the children, though it was halfhearted at best when his eyes kept trailing back to Yuri for an opening to pull her away from this situation. The conversation could only keep trailing down into dangerous territories – as if Yuri feeling bad wasn't enough, Erika had started to seem unnerved as well. He didn't want the kids to pick up on that too or else this entire meeting would be a disaster that he encouraged to happen.
Thankfully, that didn't happen because Yuri was smart enough to give Junior a chance to help her out. He stood up straighter, though he had trouble getting to his full height when some young girl he didn't really know very well could be looking at him, and nodded his head, “..A-ah, y-yeah, I had to..” Whatever series of excuses he had forming in his mind were drowned into a quiet mumble when a second person had entered the group. Ray. He slouched down more, but held his ground as he shot quick glances at the man to try to gauge him a little. Just enough to make sure he wouldn't go into a rampage or anything. But, he seemed to be as indifferent as ever even within the tense situation. Junior perked up slightly as that became clear and tried to nod again, “..Y-yes, we.. uh, she was leaving. With me. To..” And there was the mumble again. He backed up a step and nearly bumped into the brunette, uttering a quick apology as he stood awkwardly beside her.
In a way that was totally platonic because Zhi was so obviously taken, the woman noticed something as the guy looked at her head-on. He was actually pretty attractive. She guessed he would even be considered 'hot' by some people's standards! Even the girl was pretty cute too, though she wasn't to Zhi's own tastes. She looked thoughtful for a moment and sat down when the girl did too, glancing briefly at the sky to observe the sun beginning its descent. ...She would head back to River shortly, once she got more of a scoop on these two.
“Thank you very much.” She replied to the boy and, though she really was flattered for her voice to be considered 'pretty' still, she kept up the appearance that she heard it all the time from strange boys on the beach. “It would be very hard to find out what we all would know if we do not know eachother.” She commented as casually as she could, looking at the newcomers to the beach with mild curiosity, though most of them were faces she had seen plenty of times before around town. She hadn't seen these two, though! “You two aren't from around here, are you?” Either they were complete recluses or newcomers, after all; it wasn't hard to figure that one out.{ Time Change~! The Sun is starting to go down and fireworks will start soon! }

For a moment, January felt like she finally understood those books the servants had read aloud to her growing up. The pirate king rules the seven seas, capturing enemy ships, finding treasure, ravishing buxom captain's daughters, until his own men turn against him, having realized that his evil needs to be stopped. At the time, she always shrugged the pirate king off as stupid for not finding better, more obedient servants, but finally, sixteen-year-old-January Sonata understood the sting of mutiny. Much as his first mate's betrayal had stunned the pirate king, January froze as Rath turned, not towards Catrina or Icis, but towards her. Before she could open her mouth and say something, anything, her bodyguard -- her own sworn guard -- lifted her easily from her chair and began to take off towards the water.
She shrieked.
It was a high-pitched squeal, cut short as Rath tripped over something. January tumbled out of his grasp and landed face-first into the sand. It was a miracle she hadn't bitten her tongue, but the shock made her slow -- it took her a moment of stunned silence before she even thought of scrambling to her knees. She coughed and sputtered as she tried to rid her mouth of sand. Her blonde hair was a mess, and her crudely fashioned sarong-cover had slipped, revealing her swimsuit, but for once, she did not care about concealing her deep dark secret. Once she had cleaned her mouth of enough grain to speak, she leaped to her feet and glowered at those remaining. Her face burned a deep, humiliated red, and she found she was too upset to speak. She hated Catrina and Icis, hated that they had ruined her Beach Day, and Rath... Well, she didn't hate Rath, she knew not to hate the staff, that they weren't worthy of her contempt. But she was hurt, and that made her even angrier. Although she treated them terribly and hurled empty threats at them, the servants and the Sonata family staff had been the closest thing to real parents that she'd had her whole life, and she never thought that they would betray and humiliate her like this. She bit her lip, as her cheeks ached from scrapping against the sand and from the blush that had begun to spread to her chest, and tried not to cry. It wasn't fair.
Finally, she managed to make a sound. "I... I... I'm telling," she cried before breaking into an awkward run. Her palanquin, the other servants, everything about the beach had been forgotten, and now her focus lay in just returning home and hiding in a pile of silks until she felt better.

River hadn't been fazed by Zhi running away to go talk to some other people -- there was a lot of impulsive decision-making in their little family. Instead, she just continued making Elliot into a T-Rex, focusing on patting the sand into an odd, misshapen lump; she had been trying to give the T-Rex a flamethrower. She worked on this quietly for a little while, focusing 10000% on her art, until she realized that it was beginning to get a little dark. They had been playing for such a long time! River paused from her sculpting, looking over at Elliot to make sure she could still breathe (the red head had fallen asleep) and glanced around for her wife. The short-haired brunette was not that far away, so River cupped her hands around her mouth and yelled: "ZHI. FIREWORKS, FIREWORKS." They'd be starting soon! Where was Jeremy?
---
Jeremy was standing off with a strange combination of people, staring nervously at Mimi as she waved a bunch of objects in the air. "Where did you get these, Mimi?" he asked, shooting a nervous glance towards the others. At least one was an adult, which he found a little reassuring, but still, it was Mimi, loudly asking for a lighter and he knew that could never be good. ...Well, it wasn't really his problem, so for the time being he squatted next to the box and poking through it hesitantly. "Are there any sparklers? I like those."

It wasn't until the words had been out of Yuri's mouth for a moment that she realized how pathetic she was being. Making up lame, vague excuses just to get away from her kids and their babysitter! Well, mostly the babysitter. As she gave them one more look and absorbed the sight of them in their cute little sailor outfits, she wished she could take them home with her. She could fill that house with toys again, pick out their outfits, sit on the couch with a cup of tea while they played on the living room floor, and she could be happy again. But that would be kidnapping. If she took them with her, she'd be kidnapping her own children.
When Ray appeared, Yuri nearly leaped out of her skin. Her former-brother-in-law had always managed to fall under her radar, and even though she had known of him since they were kids and she had been married to his brother, she didn't know him well at all. He made her uncomfortable, with those pale eyes and that blank expression. It was like he was absorbing everything about her, even the things she didn't want him to see, and was judging her. "...Oh, yeah... 'while..." she just sort of managed to choke out. She was too guilty to deal with this side of the family like this; Erika was bad enough, and she wasn't even blood-related. Thankfully, her companion, her friend, her knight, went along with her terrible lie. It sounded less stupid when he stammered through it, though maybe it was because his mumbling distracted from the weakness of the excuse. "Yeah, I'm sorry, but I promised, and... You know, getting late," she shrugged and gestured to the darkening sky. "Err, nice... running into you. Give June my... alright." This was awful, she couldn't even step away coolly and confidently, she had to mess up her goodbyes too. She tried to give Erika and Ray an apologetic smile, but whether it came across as apologetic or pained, she had no control over. For now, she knelt down and said goodbye to the twins, planting a soft kiss on the tops of both of their heads, before standing up straight again. "Bye, Erika. Ray. We should go, Junior." Taking the redhead's hand again, she turned and began to walk back to their blanket.

Beach Day had used to be a tradition for Haruka and her mother, but new traditions were starting, it looked like. At least, that's what Nanami had said over the phone when she said she wouldn't be going to the beach with them afterall. Simply wasn't feeling up to it, the redhead had explained, but Haruka still felt unsettled. She was still new to the family-outing thing, and most of the day had been spent packing and unpacking the beach bag. Raiden had had his own concerns, and Haruka had had hers. She had to make sure she brought enough sunscreen, that it was strong enough, that she had an extra swimsuit and outfit for Axel, and a jacket in case he got cold. Sandwiches had to be cut precisely in the right shape or he wouldn't eat it, grapes couldn't have seeds, water had to be chilled. Being a dad was hard, but so was being a mom, and Haruka still wasn't used to doing it without the guidance of her own mother.
The sun was already close to setting when the Niami family arrived at the beach. Haruka followed closely behind Raiden, a third bag slung over her own shoulder, as she held the bundle of joy that had made this outing so complicated. Axel wiggled restlessly in his mother's arms. He wanted to run and play, but Haruka didn't want him running wild where she couldn't see him. "It's fine," she finally managed to gasp out as Axel let out an excited squeal at the sight of the sea. "BEACH BEACH WANNA PLAY MAMA WANNA PLAY" the three year old bellowed. Now that the umbrella and the towels had been set up, Haruka set the wiggling toddler onto the sand. "Axel, wait," she held onto the back of his shirt as he tried to bolt. He wasn't fazed at all, he just continued to lean towards the ocean, arms and legs moving haphazardly, an ecstatic grin on his face, though he didn't move an inch. He had failed to notice the toy his father shook at him completely.
Haruka sat down, holding him by the shirt like this, and she looked at Raiden. "At least we made it in time for the fireworks," she said, almost apologetically. It had been her own obsessive re-packing that had pushed them so behind schedule. "...Sandwich?" Well, so much for their first Beach Day as a family.

Penelope looked over to her brother when she heard the question hoping he would answer this one. And just like she wanted Kenneth gave the woman a simple, "No Ma'am. We're originally from a big city. It's a nice place and it's a huge music scene there." Kenneth's lips pulled into a small smile when he thought of the days when him and the guys would get together to play. He missed them but Penelope was more important then his band. "Eventually we just wanted a quieter place to live."
Penelope nodded in agreement. Her red eyes staying on her brother's hands as he fiddled with the guitar some more. She really wasn't sure what they should play but she knew it would probably be a great song. Then looking at Zhi she asked, "What about you?" Kenneth smiled and looked up at the sky. It was getting pretty late. Maybe they should have came to the beach earlier. But it couldn't really be helped. Kenneth did have work to do before they could come. He could hear a woman calling over to them about fireworks. Or at least in their direction. He wasn't sure what the woman's name was yet but it wouldn't surprise him if she was Zhi and the other woman was someone she knew.

  - Rune LeBlanc, Brooke Page, Julian Fate, Miah Bernadetto, & Stella Hammett- Well it wasn't the best sandcastle of all time, but it was probably the most she had ever done without her brother stepping over it, or jumping on it, or just flat out destroying it. Rune was finishing up a little watchtower when a young man approached her. "Hi." She would admit she was caught off-guard, but that was barely important because he did make her giggle a few times. He was silly and amusing. "Well yeah, just taking a day for myself." Never mind the fact that he was trying to flirt with her, she didn't get to reason that far because he simply made her laugh. Well he was uncoordinated. "A sand expert?" she inquired, taking a moment to scan her own little sandcastle. "I think mine looks just fine, unless you can make something better" she said with a smile. "I'm Rune." added the girl after a moment. The two would somehow manage in their questionable sandcastle making time until the sun left their side. ((I just skipped in a bit of time dear Kokoro D= They mingled for a while, she laughed at his mishaps like the kind naive person she is =D)) After her slight swim, and watching a rather odd man in his full suit for a while, Brooke decided to head back to her spot to dry up and wait for the fireworks. Maybe inspiration would hit her for later on. Julian had thought to do something else with his day aside from joining Miah in her spot, but watching a rather odd group of people and Catrina running around pretty much had him going to his safe zone. Granted that was interrupted by Icis, quite so really. Though after all these years he was pretty used to her heavy hand, and he was no push over physically speaking. Of course, it still did it's little effect by catching the man off guard and coughing a bit. "Icis. Fancy your hand meeting my back again" said the male with a slight glare before shrugging the sensation off. "Weren't you busy doing... something?" Ah those two, Julian never got over Icis ignoring him for Miah when they were kids. Which she probably never bothered to clear up since Julian was always the victim of her physical abuse anyways. "Quit bickering." simply said the blond before taking off her sunglasses to focus her attention on Icis. There was no need for them anyways, and the fireworks would begin soon. "Icis, you came here rather early" she commented before placing a hand next to her on her towel. A simple yet almost passed over signal for Icis to sit next to her, not that woman even needed permission to do so in any case. On her walk, Stella had noticed Kade waving at her and returned his wave. She would've walked there as well but something distracted her for a moment, possibly the Sonata scene, or the odd volleyball game going on. In any case she would drop by the salon later on to talk to Kade at some point. For now she would return to her area to wait for the fireworks. Even though he completely intended to leave them with Yuri, Junior still felt slightly bad about abandoning the group. Erika would have Ray to talk to, true, but the kids would probably be left unattended with a distracted babysitter to watch them and he was just flat out worried they would drown or something. But, he didn't have much grounds to doubt Erika's babysitting abilities and, besides, Yuri was holding his hand again. He smiled slightly at that and only felt a little of that previous guilt as they walked away and left the group alone. It was getting dark, he noted, which was a relief since there was no sun to burn him now and he wouldn't have to ruin the conversation by offering Yuri sunscreen. In fact, when the fireworks came on, he wouldn't have to ruin any conversation at all. He could just sit beside Yuri and watch the fireworks comfortably, which sounded just so nice right then.
But, there was still this pocket of time before that peace and Yuri needed soothing of some kind. He waited until they reached the blanket before speaking up, using his free hand to push the bangs from his eyes. “...Yuri?” He looked around, but the beach had seemed to quiet down from the social hub it was before, which meant that nervous knot in his stomach eased with it. He looked back at her, “How.. are you?” But that didn't mean he had any easier time figuring out what to say. He frowned at himself, but it was hard to maintain that for long while she held his hand.
Ah, so she was right. Zhi gave herself a mental pat on the back for that one and nodded at the boy – that must mean he was single, but.. then, he had referred to them with a 'we', as in a single unit of two, as in married? Or at least really close! She sent a small glance between the two curiously – they didn't give off a married vibe, really, and she couldn't see the romance in the air, but she was certain that that 'we' had meant something romantic. “It sounds fun, but, er..” She frowned. He didn't look like he was being entirely heartfelt at the 'wanting a quieter place', so maybe.. Their relationship was on the rocks and they had moved to the island to try to spice it up? That would make sense. “Oh, I've lived here for years, ever since high school.” She smiled at the two as she answered them, the same way she had smiled in those very, very few interviews all those years ago – practiced, slightly fake, but as realistic as Zhi could get.
The conversation would probably have continued on as the interview session she intended it to be, but then a cry over the crowd had her jerking to her feet. “River?” Did she just hear her beloved? Oh, no! It was so dark out and the fireworks..! The most romantic part of the evening was going to be completely ruined if she didn't run now. She turned back to the pair to give them a brief wave, “It was great meeting you, but I have to go now – stop by the gym sometime! ASK FOR RIVER!” With that quick plug for her wife, she turned on her heel and took off running down the beach.
It was hard to run barefoot fast enough with the sand slowing her down, but Zhi had enough love power in her to make it work. Still, she had to quietly curse all the movies she watched where they made such scenes seem so easy and pleasant. At least in slow motion, she knew she looked good – her short hair blowing behind her, the moon and stars highlighting her movement, and the beginning tears filling her so loving eyes. She kicked sand on at least three seated families on her way and, by the time she reached their towel, she was pretty sure she had mangled the t-rex. She stopped just atop Elliot and collapsed onto the towel, throwing her arms around River with a gasped, “...I made it, love.”
Just in time, too. The first of many fireworks had been launched somewhere from the pier.

River had called for Zhi, but soon after shouting out across the beach, she got a bit of sand in her nose and sneezed. She sniffled lightly before turning around to root through their beach bag in search of tissues -- completely missing Zhi's dramatic run into the arms of her beloved. In fact, she let out a muffled "Wuh as Zhi hugged her, a big wad of tissues pressed firmly against her nose. She twisted herself so she could look at Zhi. "Good timing Zhi," she greeted her with a pleasant smile as she rubbed her nose. "Where's Jeremy? He's gonna miss it." Well, wherever he was, he was missing it, as the fireworks had started. River grabbed Zhi's arm. "Zhi Zhi Zhi Zhi do you see? DO YOU SEE."
Elliot had been lying silently on the ground, having been unpleasantly woken up by Zhi's foot on her spine. Once the world stopped spinning, she tried to sit up -- but found that she was covered in too much sand for her to do it gracefully. So she flopped uselessly on the ground, making tiny, chipmunk-like 'hmphs', as the flash of fireworks colored the sand around her.
---
The sky was darkening rapidly, and by the time they returned to their blanket it already felt quite late. Somehow, that was the most relaxing thing. All she wanted to do all day was hide in a dark room somewhere, and here it was, coming to her. Despite herself, she smiled. It was getting dark, more intimate, quieter as people prepared for the fireworks, Junior's hand was warm in hers... For the first time all afternoon she felt like she could breathe, and the ringing in her ears had faded. It felt surreal, all these conflicted feelings, but still she couldn't help but smile. At what, she wasn't sure, but she couldn't have kept a straight face if she had tried. She didn't let go of Junior's hand, even when he asked her how she was. What a normal question. She didn't know to reply at first. So she laughed.
Yuri laughed and laughed, she laughed until tears prickled the corners of her eyes -- though, if it was because of the laughter or something else, she wasn't sure. "I don't know," she shrugged, her laughter lingering lightly on her expression. That's when she hugged Junior again. It was a comforting hug, but she didn't try to pose his arms for him this time, because it was also a hug of gratitude. She wrapped her arms around his torso and rested her forehead in the crook of his neck. "Thanks, Junior," she murmured. "You were amazing. I don't know what I'd do without you." Anything else she had to say was quickly drowned out by the first of the fireworks erupting in the darkening summer sky.
---
This was going so great. This girl was talking to him and giggling at his jokes (which weren't really jokes but he'd take it) and she hadn't rolled her eyes or scoffed or laughed in his face once. It had startled him at first, he didn't know how to act in situations where he wasn't flat-out rejected, and her comment about the sandcastle surprised him. He wasn't really a sandcastle expert, he was just good at piling sand (if that could be called a skill), but he still looked over her castle thoughtfully, as if he was. "Well, it's fine, structurally sound and all..." he began with a slow nod. "But what if there's a... a... tsunami? Yeah, a tsunami will wipe out any castle without protection. What you need is a sea wall. Here," he dropped his shark and knelt next to the sandcastle, "I'll show you." And so he began piling sand into a long, awkward ridge. "Rune? I'm Garland," he added not long after.
They continued like this for a while, miraculously enough. Garland created a sea wall that was nearly as tall as the castle was, but he assured her, all medieval castles had sea walls this big. Hollywood just cut them out because they weren't sexy enough. It was going so perfectly, and then -- fireworks. "Whoa!" he cried as the first one erupted in the sky. "Look at that guy go!" Then he remembered himself and flushed pink (though hopefully it was too dark for her to see). "You know, if you're scared, I can protect you," he added, trying to use his "cool" voice. If he had muscles to flex he would have flexed them, but he didn't, so he just winked at Rune. God, he was smooth.
