Blues and Greens! Roan had an urge to run out and just hug one to him but the watchful eyes of the candidatemaster stopped him.

They were so amazing though! The little green compared to her big blue brothers, she looked alittle silly and playful as she pushed into the blue that hatched first and caused the hissing match while she tumbled over and landed into somebody near him. He chuckled but his eyes were drawn back to the blues as they hissed at each other.

He had never heard of it but was it possible for the dragons to fight and even kill at this age? The younger brighter blue was hissing all around and Roan couldn't stop himself taking a step forward, would it try to hurt the other eggs? His eyes were drawn to the darker blue, wasn't he going to do something about his brother threatening his siblings? Waht about the queen, would she stop him?

He was so worried, even if he didn't ahve a dragon in there for him, the bright blue couldn't hurt the other eggs!

Becka's stomach tensed "Oh .. i do hope that blue doesn't do much harm, though it seems to be directed at the other eggs and hatchlings" she whispered to Bereck, not wanting that seemingly angry Blue's attention turning towards them.

Oh but that green was just adorable, the way she played like a young kitten, she'd played with the felines in the kitchens before, they were cute and fuzzy and warm and loved attention.. well.. some of them. Not that she thought this Hatchling was Fuzzy, no but it gave her the same sort of feeling watching her.

"Quite impressive, and very collected too," Bereck agreed with Becka in an undertone. With two greens Impressed and one more plus this blue on the Sands he was rather pleased so far, the hatchlings were perhaps a little impeded by the condition of the sand but not overmuch. It would be a greater problem for any atypes in the clutch - he had his money on at least one of them, or he would if he were a gambling sort - but the candidates would be moved closer to them anyway and-

"Hummmm." The noise of disapproval rolled deep in Bereck's chest and he frowned at the blue who had just burst out of his shell and started threatening his clutchmates. "That one reminds me of Aleck's friend Carltis," the red-haired healer muttered with another glance to Becka and a tut of derisive disapproval. "He's not going for them right out," he added, focusing on the hatchling again with a frown. "Let's hope he's all talk."

Greens and blues.

Kleos chewed her lower lip, studying the remaining eggs. Twelve total had been laid, so one could expect... five or six greens, perhaps three blues and three of something else. Yes, so far proportions were quite normal it was just that all of the little ones were hatching first. It was notable however that there were still more small eggs out there than large ones. She wasn't sure what to make of that, should it be a cause for concern? The tiniest eggs of course could be silvers as easily as greens.

Would the clutches they laid be taken into consideration?... Surely not, breeding was not the mark of a leader. Except that it was. Flights decided who ruled, and traditional riders might well feel that one who laid 'better' would lead better.

Oh shi-- Dragons dragons everywhere. Kaeyne jumped slightly when egg after egg exploded out with small dragons. Green, blue, blue. He'd not remembered the last Hatching, hidden in the caves with stolen eggs and trying to rescue them from Wherholders and snotty silver-riders alike.

His eyes followed the green as she tumbled back, sparing glances for the blues as they did their... blue thing. Kaeyne shifted away from some of the closer Candidates. With the herding bit of green Impressed, he had no reason for them to be so near. the dragons quickly drew his attention again, the other Candidates be shaffed; they all looked healthy still.

The Guardian hatched out, not the brown that Corloss had been privately expecting given the egg's general size and demeanor, but a beautiful dark blue. He was watching alertly now: another dragon hatched, a green who seemed more playful, but failed to goad her serious brother into playing with her.

And then the Territorial egg hatched, and Corloss remembered that one as one of the loud ones. The Guardian blue reared up as the Territorial blue stalked forward, hissing and snapping. Corloss' hands clenched into fists at his sides. Everything in him wanted to just go out there and tell them to break it up...

But they were just babies. Any interference on his part could cause worse harm.

The green wiggled as she righted herself and looked around, spotting the larger eggs and perked. They were the highest things around at the moment... could she...? Without a second thought, she scrambled up onto the eggs and managed to flop herself onto the Discreet egg, which gave a bit of an irate twist as it tried to dislodge the entirely impressed with herself green.

The blues, however, were squaring off and as they turned, the Territorial blue caught sight of the Candidate stepping forward. He roared his tiny roar at the Candidate and swiped at the blue as he stalked towards Roan.

The remaining blue, however, seemed satisfied with this turn of events and resumed looking over the Candidates. He too started towards the boys.

The Vibrant Egg was cracking slowly and at last a head emerged, followed by shoulders and body as the new dragon stepped out onto the sand. Without a second thought, he inhaled and let out a cry of welcome much louder then his angry brother had managed. A casual toss of his head and he noticed the girl on the egg and puffed, shoulders squared, wings spread in a showing off to the female. Then his attention turned to all the females in the area - see how handsome he is? Yes, that's right, he's the most handsome! Another piercing call for attention matched his posturing.

A second blue. Wen looked over the feisty hatching with a bit of concern as the blue mantled his wings and huffed and hissed at the other dragons. Go on an impress little blue before your siblings hatch. He would prefer if the sands did not end up stained in dragon inchor. He had just clean well dried the sand.

Rynsemth replied, relaxed on his perch and peered at the clutch in interest. The black flexed his tail.

Wen snorted, amusement rolling over. 'They have been respectful enough, Ryn. Are you getting bored without Miath to preen over.'

Rynsemth shifted and rumbled amused.

Becka frowned as the green managed to get herself up on top of one of the unhatched eggs, that wasn't good at all. She could seriously impede the hatching of that egg "shouldn't someone... do something?" she wondered out loud as she watched. She inclined her head towards Bereck a little "let's hope so" she said about the angry blue as he saw the candidates and let out a tiny roar and swiped as he stalked a candidate.

"Looks like the first blue was distracting the angry one" she muttered, mostly to herself. Oh now wasn't this one something special, showing off like he was.... She flinched a little as he let out another call, well that wasn't pleasing to the ear... well not the human one anyway. She wondered what the playful Green would think of this proud male.

Roan was shocked that the little blue was headed towards him and he backed up again, he didn't want the little dragon to hurt himself but he seemed so angry.

What should he do? He didn't think that this blue was coming to impress him. Instead it looked like he would attack him! He looked around in worry, wanting to take another step back, he didn't want to hurt the little thing by holding him back and he didn't want to be forced to turn him around or touch him unless he absolutely had to.

"Um...." He started to speak, but remembered the rules and he stood his ground, he had been attacked by angry Wherries, annoyed runnerbeasts and once a Wher had pushed him over with it's tail. He was use to abuse from animals, he just hoped this little dragon wouldn't tear him up too much. He was too distracted by the angry blue to look up at the egg that just hatched, he couldn't even tell what color it was.

[Rochelle]

"We are so late!" Rochelle groaned and tugged on her sandals as they made their way to the Sands. The new Sands? Either way, she had her sandals on and her hair twisted back into a messy knot, a C'tis on his way with her. Rochelle's fault they were last to the Hatching. She didn't even know how it happened just that it did and she managed to make them both late. 'Go with me to the Hatching!' she'd said and he'd agreed ad then when it actually happened she had them both late - it was either remain in work clothes she almost had on or change very quickly and scamper to his weyr.

Oops.

Red-faced and huffing, they arrived just in time to see three greens, new ones, two with people and one on the Sands - two blues as well. Rochelle squinted as she edged people aside for a better look and then craned her head to look up at C'tis.

"Can you tell what color the loud one is?" A pause. And then: "Thank you for waiting for me."

First one green, then the other Impressed. Ildresaak smiled widely, watching the little ones as they met their intended riders. For a moment, there was quiet on the Sands, and Ildresaak looked over to Corloss and grinned. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all. Nothing was going completely wrong just yet, and the dragons had hatched and Impressed quickly.

And then it was like the Sands had suddenly exploded.

First a blue, from the Guardian egg, one that Ildresaak hadn’t been entirely sure of. The dark dragonet was composed and calm, moving easily in a way that surprised Ildresaak. Weren’t they supposed to be clumsy and funny-looking, even as babies? Apparently this one wasn’t. And then immediately after, another green. Faranth, small dragons galore in this clutch. Ildresaak’s eyes strayed to the larger eggs. He’d see, he supposed.

And then a third egg split, spilling a hatchling – a bright blue – who hissed and lunged at the first blue to hatch, and Ildresaak flinched. This egg had been…one of the ones he had regretted touching. Faranth, and it was going after the first blue – a fight? Great. Wonderful. The knot in his stomach returned larger and more troubling than ever. And then the dragonets broke it off, but the lighter blue headed toward one of the other Candidates, and –

“Faranth, he’s going to get himself killed,” he murmured, eyes fixed on Roan and completely missing the Vibrant egg splitting.

...Ah, shells. It looked as though a boy had caught the attention of the angry Territorial blue.

Letting two baby dragons fight it out was one thing. Letting a baby dragon take out anger on a Candidate was another. Candidates didn't have sharp teeth and claws to defend themselves with. "Hang on," Corloss growled low to Ildresaak. "I'll be back."

And he made his way down from his vantage point halfway up the dune and sidled through the small gathering of boys towards Roan. Corloss didn't know him, didn't know his name, but had seen him around a few times. "Come on," he said quietly to the boy. "Back up slowly. Keep an eye on him, but try not to make eye contact."

Eye contact, Corloss knew, could be considered threatening to some animals. He didn't know about baby dragons, but it seemed a safe enough assumption to make. And if the angry blue lunged... Well, he was prepared to step forward if needed to intercept.

Cai
(Tag Wen, ect)

Miath scrambled as delicately as she could up the edge of the hatching stands, using her still small body to her advantage as she weaved her way over to her favorite clutchsib. I haven't missed it all have I? She crooned and curled her long tail about herself.

Cai almost didn't join Wen. She was severely torn with the desire to be down on the Sands with Bereck and Becka working as she should be. Wen's current companion did little to help as well. Cai's first impression of Jemi was less than favorable, but until Miath was full grown, Cai couldn't risk putting herself in the way of hatchling claws. It was beyond irritating.

A grey glare made the stranger on Wen's other side scoot quickly over, leaving room for Cai to drop herself into the now empty seat. "Wen." She greeted with a curt nod. Why was it at the happiest occasions, Cai was usually in the foulest of moods?

Zarike

On the other hand, In his white robe, with the moist heat of the sands radiating up in waves and making his hair curl, Zarike couldn't be happier. When he'd become a candidate, he'd thought he couldn't be happier. When he'd gone to the Touching, he'd thought he couldn't be happier. When he'd got to 'play' around the eggs afterwards, Zarike thought he couldn't be happier. Now though, he was pretty sure he was made of happiness, and only the weight of the thin cloth robe was keeping him pinned to the planet beneath him.

There was a small tingle, a little thread of concern and fear in his mind that belonged to his crimson flit Dorado. She was distraught at being so far away from him, even as she sat in the arms of Zarike's father in the Stands. Zarike glanced from the hatchlings and gave a quick wave in her direction before turning back. There were so many hatchlings milling about! Zarike couldn't help but love them all in their own ways, from the green who was currently climbing the eggs, to even the blue who was so unhappy with his situation. One of them might be his after all!

Ailin

Could hatchings become routine? Ailin had only stood for two before this, but he was almost bored. His surety that he wouldn't Impress continued to make this act of standing feel pointless. Even though he was well aware that he was down on the Sands, where hatchlings were hissing and bonds were being made, he felt like he might as well be watching from the Stands. Hatchlings had proven before that if Theirs was there, they didn't need to be on the Sands. He'd rather be safe from searching claws than down here with sweat dripping down his pointed nose.

Z'fer

He reclined as he often did when watching Hatchings, counting odds and seeing the results of his bets. The clutch was proving to mostly be blues and greens. He wondered if it'd be like Brakiath's last clutch, the one before the revolution that had produced Hekate and Devith. If so his bets were screwed, but it'd be interesting from such a young gold. Would it be something in their genetics? Cepheith was Trine's own Jr. Gold after all.

It'd be interesting to see five atypicals in one clutch. Even in the crimson's clutch there'd only been two. He had already gone over the fact that there was no gold egg, a fact that made him feel smug. Suunath, despite her small size, had produced a gold, a bronze, AND a crimson with his Calanoth's help.

The stalking blue, eyes whirling red and orange, advanced with his head low and wings mantled. When people didn't get out of his way fast enough, he clawed at them... and when it became abundantly clear he was circling Roan, a ring opened up around the Candidate. A few were unfortunate and received swift claws raking along their legs and sides, rend clothing to leave them streaming blood and stumbling off to the healers.

Eventually satisfied with the personal bubble acheived, he stopped before Roan and reared up like a challenge for several heartbeats, sizing Roan up before nuzzling him briefly and backing up for the personal space once more.

Come Roanmine, your Syriacuth has had enough of this crowd.

Meanwhile, the dark blue hatchling had taken the opportunity to stroll calmly through the ranks of the candidates, nosing here and there. He was silent, like a shadow, and easily missed in the drama unfolding around his brother.

This was not good... that angry Blue was clawing up candidates left right and center, some bad enough to stumble over towards her and the other healers. She didn't think they looked too bad since they were actually walking but shock did a lot to you. She made sure there were places for the injured to sit, since they'd been raked lower down they'd need elevation of their wounds if they were serious. She dipped the clothes in the sterile water for the healers to clean wounds with while she waited for any further instruction from Bereck.
