Sasha pressed her lips together and fought back the urge to snap at him.
"You know, maybe you have changed. I rescind the offer," she huffed quietly, lips bowing downwards in a moue of pure annoyance, "so you needn't worry about it."
She was already turning to leave before the sentence was finished, the second half of it spoken over her shoulder as she walked away.

"What. You don't like me when I'm wishy-washy, you don't like me when I make up my mind? Or are you just too good to drink with me?"

"Fine. Alors maintenant, il est un grand homme. Shall we set a date? A time? Perhaps when you finish with your giggle fit? I do have things to do, you know."

"What makes you say I've changed?" He stopped laughing, at least, but the grin remained. It felt good to smile again, even if it had a bitter edge.

"There was a time you would not laugh at me like this." She paused and turned to face him again, arms crossed over her chest as she watched him.
No, he would not have laughed at her like this.
"There was a time that you would have leapt at the chance for alcohol, yes? And now you stand here and laugh at me."
She shrugged.

"There was a time you'd talk to me for hours about the beauty in music, the way it'd fill you up, and the way it'd make things better." He shoved his hands in his pockets. "Friday. After evening duties. Wherever you'd want."

"There was a time where music was what worked." Sasha waved a hand in the air, a whimsical gesture.
"Fine, then. Friday, after evening duties. Your room. I'll bring the drinks, you bring the food?"

"Maybe I'll even try to cook something besides Mac and Cheese," Jerry shrugged as though it was nothing.
It wasn't nothing.
It was a good step, maybe.
He hoped.

Sasha gave a small flourish of her fingers before turning and leaving.
Finally.
This was either going to be a terrible mistake or the glorious ruination of Jerry's sobriety, she wasn't entirely sure yet.
