"Ah..." Considering everything that had happened in their life, Ren could only hope that if Rye ever did regain his memories of that two week period, that it not be anytime soon. He needed time to regain his memories slowly, and preferably the good ones first. "I have only my brother. It must have been very difficult for you to have lost Rye after losing your mate and other son." He offered Sedu a sympathetic smile.

Sedu shrugge as he reached down and smoothed down ryes hair gebtly, he didnt want to think about himself or wallow in self pity anymore than he already had over the past few years. After a few moments sedus cell phone started vibrating. pullimg out of hos pocket and glancing at he he heaved a huge sigh before looking ren in the eyes. "i have to go... ryes medical bills are high and this is a very important client calling, dont leave him ok... and please tell him i was here and that i love him" pulling out a business card he handed it over to ren "if anything happens will you call me? i know this is probably weird but the nurse told me you are the only one he remembers, my son had a good judge of character before this happened so im going to trust him"

"Client?" Ren asked, taking the business card and looking it over and feeling lost. What was Sedu's profession? How long did everyone expect him to stay here with Rye? "When will you be back?"

Sedu glanced back "its a quick tax quote for an important client, and its right down the road so i should only be gone maybe 45 minutes" sedu was in business mode, his dedication to the job is what allowed him to keep rye on life support all these years. "im sorry" he added before darting out the door.
Rye began moving around a bit more as he dozed, his body was tired but his mind was restless to be awake again after sleepingfor so long.

Ren nodded to him and said, "Yes, I'll stay." So, Sedu was an accountant. That explained much, as it was a steady job and one that had made it possible for Sedu to visit the hospital on a regular basis. After the father had gone, he turned his attention back to Rye. He had seemed quite peaceful at first, but during the conversation had seemed restless. Perhaps hearing his father's voice had sparked something within him. He sighed and stroked Rye's hair, then leaned down to kiss his head.

The moment rens lips touched his head ryes eyes opened a bit "ren?" he asked looking up at the boy. He looked even more dazed than he did when he had woken up from the coma.

"Yes, I'm here," Ren replied and stroked his hair before leaning back to sit up straight again. "You look tired. You missed your father, but he'll be back in about an hour. If you want to sleep, I can wake you up when he comes back."

Rye shook his head weakly, he wasnt feeling well at all. Not soon after he shook his head though his eyelids began drooping once more "dont feel good" he whispered before going limp. this time there were no dreams, just black. ryes heart rate began slowing.

Ren frowned. Something wasn't right. He looked ill, not just tired. "Rye, maybe you shouldn't sleep after all..." But the boy had slipped into unconsciousness. He glanced back at the monitor, his brow furrowing all the more. He glanced around and for the second time found himself calling out to the medical staff.

It was the same nurse that came into the room. looking at ryes pale complexion and sweaty skin her eyes widened. "i'm sorry but i think you should leave the room" rye looked feverish and she was afraid that after so long asleep his immune system had weakened and the energy he consumed being awake left him vunerable to infection and sickness.
turning back out the door she went to retrieve the dr for a second oppinion on moving rye into an isolation room.

Ren backed away from Rye to give the nurse more space to work with him. He paled visibly when she advised him to leave the room, and did move away from the bed, but he didn't leave the room. Instead he waited by his old bed and waited for the doctor and nurse to return. He was not about to leave until he found out a little more. Sedu would need to know that much at the very least.

The dr rushed into the room followed by the nurse and they flanked either side of the bed and began spouting medical termonology. "sterile room now" was one of the few understandable phrases. as more nurses poured into the room they began hanging all if the bags that were attatched to ryes iv into a portable gourney. After rye had been set down on the secons bed he began making small pitiful noises. The whole process was only a few seconds before the group of people were out of the room takin rye with them.
the nurse that had been the first in the room paused in the doorway to look at ren "you can follow if you want" she knew if ren followed behind there would be no danger to rye, so long as e kept a distance between them umtil he had been sterilized. with those words she ran out the door.

Ren watched with growing horror, but managed to stay out of the way despite his reptilian bulk and trailing snake body. Gathering of the sterile equipment and setting Rye on the gurney, he could only wonder if they were going to perform some kind of surgery. He really did not understand any of it; however, he knew that they would tell him once Rye had been stabalized and they had a better idea of what was going on. So he waited patiently, following with a nod after the nurse invited him to follow.
Just as he reached the door, it occurred to him that Sedu would come back to an empty room. No matter what happened, he would need to try to come back in time to meet with him. With a sigh, the dragon left the room and followed after the doctor and nurses.

The team was trotting ryes gourney down the hall and entered thw icu doors which the nurse held open for ren. once into the icu the dr,s suited up quockly and took rye into a room with glass walls. a room where you couldnt enter without the sterile suits. Rye was still whimperig as they began hooking up two new bags to his iv drip, one for pain and the other a mild antibiotic. The nurse had stayed out of the isolation room to explain everything to rye. "he has a fever, with him being in a coma so long it could just be somethig aas common as a cold but with his weake.ed immune system its better to be safe than sorry, we dont want him to wake up just to lose him"

Ren wanted nothing more than to be there right beside Rye. Perhaps holding his hand would calm him like it had in the past. Instead, Rye was confined to a room with glass walls and surrounded by staff in scrubs. If he were to awaken now, no doubt he would be terrified. Ren really didn't believe he might have passed something to Rye; it hadn't been long enough. But he couldn't help a vague feeling of guilt. "Was today too much excitement for him? Is there anything I can do?"
