Oh great...Since I'll be reading that Mandarin textbook, I have to get used to simplified characters. ....Well I guess it wouldn't hurt to know those as well as the traditional. As long as I don't mix them up. eek

blaugh how can you tell them apart? the trad. characters usually hav more lines and stuff...looks more harder and the simp. ones are easier with less lines.......i'm not very good at explaining this in english sorry I prefer Trad. chinese coz i'm from HK and itz what i've been learning but i've been learning mandarin so i hav to get used to the simp. characters too *sigh*

traditional looks nicer than simplified, do you want Non-Chinese speaking cultures to look upon "simple" characters? NO! we want them to see the difficult and intricate formations of each character and symbol! For you to take an extra 1 second to write or draw a character reflects that we are a culture of complexity and tradition.
