Veronica smiled, thrilled that this total stranger was being so kind about her blunder. "Thank you so much; that's very kind of you." She felt as if she was being uncharacteristically cheerful, but Lurtz clearly did not deserve her usual, relatively quiet self. She had sort of come into the established world from her humble beginnings expecting people to be less than kind, but Lurtz had proven her wrong, and for that, she was grateful.
He seemed to pick up on something she herself could not place, but her animal-like instincts told her something in the environment had changed. She listened as Lurtz explained to her that a "rude man" was making his presence earlier than expected. She hoped Lurtz wasn't just trying to get rid of her, but she couldn't help but suspect. "What do you mean a rude man? Why is he coming here?" She couldn't help but ask. She'd had her things shipped to her apartment and placed inside by the school movers, and she knew she ought to begin unpacking sometime soon, but she was curious.

"I mean a vampiric nobleman who sees most other people as far beneath himself to which he'll speak so far down to you that even Hell would be a far cheerier place to be. He's technically my dad and he's m-," Lurtz started to answer only to quickly bite back his words as a tall man with dark hair and an air of nobility to him appeared on the stairs. Crap. He'd wanted to get the girl away from his apartment before he arrived, but she had to ask questions. Wasn't this always how it went for him?
"Well isn't this a surprise. You're actually waiting for me. But who is this? A waste of space more than likely," the elder male almost seemed to hiss as he padded over to Lurtz. His gaze had flicked briefly at the girl, but remained uninterested in her whatsoever. "This is Lady Van de Wille, a new neighbor of mine. She was just making sure she had the right apartment, sir," Lurtz responded in that same cool rumble only to get a nod from his father. "Well now that it knows, we need to have that private discussion. I'm sure that creature understands that this is a family matter. I'm glad to see you've stepped out of your comfort zone to feed though, Lurtz." "Of course, sir. I've already dishonored the family enough by existing the way I used to be. I'd hate to dishonor you even further." Behind the words and slight movement off to the side so his father could enter the apartment, a brief flicker of anger passed through his eyes. Dangit! His dad was going to have to reset him again.

From boy to man.
It had been so long since Dragon had had a dream. In fact, he wasn't even sure when the last time was that he had one. A week? A month? Because it took so long, he barely recognized that he was in one.
Dragon felt himself blink and looked around at the vast whiteness. He looked around only to see more white until he heard a familiar voice.
"I got my ticket for the long way round, two bottle whiskey for the way..."
Dragon turned and focused his silver eyes on a faintly familiar figure, though the white lights made it hard for him to pinpoint who it was. It was kind of like a foggy memory, emphasis the fog. He could make out a smile and some blue around that. It was... Lurtz. Before Dragon could make out what exactly was happening, he noticed a milkshake in front of him. He glanced down at it curiously then looked back up in time to see Lurtz, clearer this time, and with a guilty smile on his face. These weren't dreams, the young man realized, they were memories. Good memories.
Then the sound of a phone ringing obscured everything.
Dragon's purple eyes flew open at the sound of the ring. He sat up with a start and looked over to see his phone laid against his folded jacket, ringing like crazy. It was an old flip-phone, one of the pre-paid ones sold at nearly every store. One of the men his mom dated bought one for him, trying to earn his trust. Of course, they just left before he could smile at them.
His expression softening, Dragon reached out and answered the phone. After a few minutes of short replies and occasional grimaces, he hung up. He stared at the plastic for a while before gripping the shelf near the bed, slowly getting to his feet. He had recovered some of his blood, so he didn't feel as dizzy as a few hours ago, but he was still drowsy nonetheless. Loosely putting the coat over him, Dragon slipped the phone into his pocket and plodded towards the doorway.
"Lurtz, I-I'm sorry, but I have to..." he drifted off when he saw the small group at the doorway. He recognized the man as Lurtz's father, but the girl he hadn't the faintest idea. Another one in the family? Dragon pursed his lips and shuffled backwards a little, feeling as if he had interrupted something.

Veronica was horrified, but not altogether surprised. She'd expected more people to act the way this man was, but that did not change the fact that she was absolutely appalled at his behavior. She grimaced as he called her a waste of space and referred to her as "it". She quickly pushed her rage aside, straightening up more. "Good to make your acquaintance, sir," she said evenly, looking him straight in the eye. She wanted to sling an insult at him back, but that would make her just as low.
She'd noticed a presence earlier from inside the apartment, and it changed slightly. However, her instincts were vague, and she could not determine what exactly was going on. Then, the person inside showed themselves just beyond the doorway. It was a man, as Veronica had suspected from hearing the voices before knocking on the door. She turned towards him. "Oh... Hi. Veronica. Sorry to steal Lurtz for the moment," she said quickly, still slightly bristled from the his father's behavior.

Then came the sound of Dragon's voice to which the blue haired male did a quick militarized style of an about-face to face the other male. "Lord Dragon, you shouldn't be up yet. I took a little more than I intended to so you should be rest-," he began to respond only to grimace slightly when he heard the darker haired male shuffle backwards. It probably didn't help that his dad used his vampiric speed to use a small metallic stick to pop him on the back and the back of one of his arms. What made it worse was that while he could feel the sting on his back and arm was also knowing there was already a red welt showing on the back of his arm beneath his long-sleeve shirt.
"Hush up, creature. Weakling, finish what you were saying. I have far more important things to discuss with him than you trying to damage everything he knows. You're ruining my perfect soldier," the elder male growled irritably as he took a brief mental note of his son clenching his teeth. Oh how he would enjoy knocking the black sheep back into place.

Upon hearing the girl, Dragon timidly stepped away from the wall he cowered against and looked down, his slowly changing fire red eyes flickering up nervously every now and then. "U-Umm, n-no, I'm sorry for i-interrupting." he stuttered with a shy blush blooming across his face. The rush of blood his body was lacking made him feel lightheaded again, but he shook it off and looked back at Lurtz when he heard him. The boy stiffened a little and felt his blush deepen with humiliation when he saw the stern look on Lurtz's face. "O-Oh! I-It's just that-" His words were cut off as soon as he heard the older man talk, silenced by intimidation. He still remembered the threat he was given by Lurtz's father mere hours ago. Had it really been hours, for that matter? He had been asleep for a while, he wasn't too sure.
"Ruining?" Dragon thought aloud and, shortly after realizing that he had uttered his thoughts, blushed once more. "U-Umm, s-sorry, I w-was just going to say that I-I have to go, umm... go to my m-mom's wedding." Something flashed over the young man's face when he finished his sentence, but it disappeared quickly. "Y-You're busy right now, so I-I'll just go alone." He tried to give Lurtz a small smile, but it faltered under the intimidation. Looking back towards the doorway, Dragon tried to walk towards it. He succeeded, but his lightheaded mind forced him to wobble badly and bump into a good few items.

Veronica grimaced as Lurtz was hurt by his father. She suddenly felt like a fly on the wall, who had seen something she wasn't meant to. She was invading on family business. She struggled a bit to keep her expression even, incredibly annoyed at the way Lurtz's father treated him. She took a deep breath, in and out, to maintain her composure. "My, you have quite the temper, sir," she said lightheartedly, a small smirk on her face.
Dragon told Lurtz that he needed to leave to go to his mother's wedding. It seemed as if Lurtz was supposed to go with him, but he was now obviously predisposed. Veronica wondered absently if he needed a date or something. She wasn't sure if he would be bringing Lurtz as a friend or a date, but either way, if he was not available, Veronica knew she could volunteer if necessary.

"I could accompany you, Lord Dragon, if you wish me too. After all, I should take responsibility after what I did to you." It came out faster than his brain had processed it, one of his hands moving as if instinctually to catch Dragon's arm so as to help maintain his balance while he also kept the small table by the door from falling over with his foot. Of course his words got a sharp glare from his dad, but right now he didn't quite care. Dragon was incapable of going down the flights of stairs leading to his apartment without blacking out halfway down which would only make him feel worse.
"I said for you to hush up, creature. My temper towards this abomination whose only real use is to fight until killed is none of your business. I'll still be here when you return with your bloodbag. At least make him your bloodhound if that's why you're keeping him," the elder male seethed as he continued on into the apartment without any real care as to the fact that it was his son's apartment. Yet again, Lurtz gritted his teeth at his dad's words, but didn't retort in any manner. Instead he seemed to be silently asking if Dragon had been wanting to ask if he'd go with him. He even briefly gave Veronica an apologetic half-smile that she'd had to meet his father.

Dragon gave Lurtz a weak half-smile when he tried to keep him from falling, he lifted his hand up in a silent way of saying that he was fine. Hearing the verbal venom from Lurtz's father, the young man's now golden eyes watched the tall figure retreat from them, wondering what exactly he said, or who the bloodbag even was. Did Lurtz just get permission to leave? N-Not like he needed it to begin with! He was independent like the other students!
Dragon pursed his lips, suddenly feeling very guilty. "I-I'm sorry." he mumbled as soon as the eldest man left. "I got you in so much trouble." He quickly looked up at Lurtz with worried, changing eyes. "Y-You don't have to go! I-I, umm... I-It's fine, I could go alone o-or find someone else." He glanced over at the girl then blushed when he realized what he had done. "O-Oh!" Quickly dropping his grass green eyes to the ground, Dragon reached out and pressed his hand against the wall to steady himself from the dizzying room. "U-Umm... I-I'm sorry! I-I'll just go alone!" he stuttered greatly and began stumbling forward.

Veronica was relieved that the man was going to leave them alone for the moment, but he'd said something that intrigued her. Fight until he's killed? she thought, not quite sure what that meant. Was Lurtz some kind of soldier-son? She wasn't sure, but she looked at him questioningly, curious. She was also curious as to what Lurtz had done to Dragon, but she knew none of these things were really her business, as Lurtz's father had so curtly stated.
She caught Dragon glance at her as he stated that he could find someone else to go to the wedding. Did he want to go with her? She brushed off the idea, knowing Lurtz would probably insist on accompanying him. She'd really wandered into territory she didn't belong in, and she became embarrassed as she realized this again. "I mean, I can go if you like, but I'm sure Lurtz would want to go with you," she said quickly. "I should probably get going and all..."

And there's no point in apologizing. It wasn't you who got me in trouble with my dad, but myself. I knew that I was breaking rules and just as I said about remaining by your side until you've fully recovered, I intend to take up responsibility for my actions. I don't intend to break my promise to you though, Lord Dragon," Lurtz responded cooly as his gaze flicked briefly up at Veronica when she spoke. So she'd be willing to be friendly with Dragon too... Interesting and yet dangerous if Dragon spoke truth of others vanishing after interacting with him. He'd sounded honest and didn't seem to be the type who lied just to get sympathy so the vampire believed him. He could tell the sound of a pacemaker which could usually make even a lie sound honest unless someone could tell the difference and Dragon didn't have one.
"If you don't want me to come, however, Lady Van de Wille has already offered going with you. The option is yours; Lady Van de Wille or me? The option of going alone has only negative consequences. Trust me on that. Lady Van de Wille, I will state I tried to warn you about my father. Ignore his words since you're not a vampire or crusinik. He's always spoken down to anything he believed to be beneath himself and yet kisses anyone of a higher status in the vampire kingdoms' arse to raise his own status. His family is no exception to his demeanor."

"Umm, m-maybe both of you can come with me?" the young man offered as he rubbed his arm nervously, a matching smile on his face. He looked over at the girl, eyes turning clear, and felt his smile twitch nervously. "I-I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you m-my name. M-My name's Dragon." he said and felt the lonely side of him cringe at the mention of his name. He never liked his name. What if someone made fun of him for having an animal's name?
Still, he had a feeling the girl wouldn't make fun of him. She did offer to go with him to his mother's wedding, and they barely knew each other. Dragon smiled again at the thought of taking two people with him. For the longest time he had been so alone, he had nearly forgotten what it was like to have one. But to have two friends join him, that was near unbelievable for him.

Veronica was impressed at Lurtz's loyalty to his friend, and noticed that he glanced at her as he told him he would accompany him. Not knowing what to make of the brief glance, she brushed it off and accepted that there were some things she did not yet know and may not ever know.
She nodded at Lurtz as he explained his father and what seemed like his overwhelming God complex. "I noticed, he doesn't seem to have a lot of respect for anyone but himself. Very strange."
Dragon mentioned that perhaps the both of them could go to the wedding. "Nice to meet you, Dragon. I'm Veronica. Would it really be alright if both of us went with you? Though she wasn't opposed to the idea, she wasn't sure if it would be strange for two people to go with him. Was it supposed to be a plus-one type event? She wasn't sure.

Would casual-formal attire be alright or would your mother prefer the men wearing a tux while Lady De Wille wears a dress that's any color besides white or black?" Lurtz rumbled smoothly as if he had gone through this before. Weddings were difficult to be labelled as perfect considering every bride wanted the wedding to be a certain way and if anything was off, they thought it was an omen of the wedding being a failure. If another woman wore white, it was rude and seemed as if she were trying to upstage the bride. If a woman wore black, it was as if jinxing the couple to bad luck. So many superstitions about weddings, so many things to fix. Sure it was old fashioned, but the older fashioned styles were better than the crap the younger generations were learning. He was still trying to understand all of the text lingo floating about in all of it's stupidity. "And you may lean against me if you're feeling lightheaded or weak in the knees, Lord Dragon. I'm used to it, milady, so it's not all that strange to me."

Although Dragon didn't like the idea of burdening Lurtz by using him as a clutch, his body still didn't have a necessary amount of blood to keep him up for too long, and before he could even reply he found himself leaning against him tiredly. "S-Sorry." he mumbled to the other male witha light blush before looking back at Veronica, his eyes turning metallic blue. "It's fine. I don't think my mom will care anyway." he mumbled with the same change on his face as earlier, only it lingered long enough to be recognized, and that change was a facial expression of absolute hate.
