Opening his eyes as Riley requested, Jericho furrowed his brow before watching her. Or at least, he tried to. He wasn't really sure what it was she was doing here aside from sitting with her eyes closed, concentrating. It seemed like she was sensing things, from the way she was moving, but just watching didn't really give him much information. When she suddenly pointed, he turned and squinted. At first, he didn't see anything. Actually, for awhile, he didn't. He scanned the area she was pointing towards, trying to find something that wasn't just foliage. After some time, he managed to spot the tiny movement back there. "Oh! I see it!"

Malodore opened its eyes and snaked its neck out a bit, keeping its body still and steady. Ah. Si, it could detect the creature now, though it had no particular desire to kill it, let alone consume it. I believe your ability to speak soundlessly is an unfair advantage, it informed Riley, amused.

Riley looked just slightly disappointed in how long it took Jericho to find it. In fact, she gave Malodore a sly look, clearly impressed, but then crouched on the tree trunk and flung herself off of the tree completely. Stay where you are, I'm just getting something. Her footfall was quiet, landing on the balls of her feet, and she picked up a small rock before climbing back up the tree. Now that we've found the prey, we need to lure it towards us. Going over there will make too much noise - we want it to come to us, instead. So-
She aimed, and threw the rock hard, watching it soar off past the bramble. When it slammed into the ground, the tiny rabbit shuddered and bolted out of its hiding place, running in their direction. Her face lifted with smugness. Don't lose sight of it.

"Alright. Got it," Jericho nodded before staring at the critter, keeping his eyes trained onto it. He wanted to see what Riley was doing, but he didn't want to lose sight of their prey. It had taken him so long to spot it that he felt like if he glanced away, he'd lose it again. "What is she doing down there?" he asked Mal.

Malodore's claws dug into the bark as Riley leapt down, tightening its grip on the tree - it was an abject relief when she told them to stay there. No catapulting down on top of squirrels. Yet. "Scaring the prey our direction," it murmured, in response to Jericho's question, tensing once more. No, surely not. It wasn't meant to dive down on things like a bird of prey. Maybe it could throw a feather...?

Riley gave Jericho such a look. If you continue to talk, you will scare away the prey, and then I will hunt you, instead. She warned, before putting her finger to the flat plane of her face. It dropped down and pointed at the shrub nearby, where the rabbit had taken refuge. Pulling off a piece of bark from the tree, she flicked it over, and it dropped on the shrub, scaring the rabbit out. It hopped just underneath their tree, and Riley felt this was enough. And thus, you would drop down and land on it at this point. That was her lesson, but she felt Jericho hadn't really learned much, and dropped down off the tree - scaring the hell out of the rabbit and making it screech and freeze in place. She picked it up with a tentacle, and started walking away with her prize.
If you want to hunt with a partner, you don't have to use rocks. She murmured, disappearing out of sight - and leaving them both stranded in the tree. There was a long, tense silence, at which point neither party probably knew what was happening..
Then the crackle of sound, quiet at first, started to rumble forward. A few seconds later, a herd of deer ran, their movements quickened out of fear, towards - and then past - the tree.

At that, Jericho nodded and quickly quieted himself more. He just watched carefully at the critter below. Was she expecting him to drop down right now? The answer was soon given as she went off and hunted the creature herself. And then soon enough, she had gone off. He wanted to ask what she was up to, but he didn't want to scare the prey. Soon enough, he saw a herd of deer stampeding down. "Ah! Get them!"He jumped down. And just by some chance, landed on top of one. "HOLD STILL!"((15+ = success))

Malodore flinched, then... Well. It would have been nice if the plague doctor could have descended on purpose. Instead, the flinch knocked it off-kilter, and with a startled yelp and the scraping of claws it fell out of the tree. And somehow, it didn't even hit a deer on the way down.

And just for the heck of it, Jericho tried to clothesline another deer as it ran. This plan failed miserably as he ended up just face planting into the dirt while the critter jumped over him.

Malodore just lay there, its wings sticking up like some kind of weird bush. Maybe if it just stayed still it would all go away...

Riley hadn't actually tried to catch any of the deer, leaving it all up to her two companions, who got the hint rather quickly. When she showed up, walking with lazy steps while dragging the now-unconscious rabbit - her new lucky charm - in her tentacle, she stared down at the two, lying there. Jericho had caught a deer, but they both looked like they'd just been through a war - instead of a herd of animals.
So.
She took a minute to keep the laughter out of her voice.
That's hunting.

"Wow. That wasn't quite what I expected," Jericho stated while poking the deer he pretty much fell on top of initially. It had to have been a fluke for him to catch this one. "Is it always like this?" he asked. Though... now he was also wondering just what they did. Did they bring it back? Eat here? What?

Oh, its ruse had worked. Clever plague doctor. It slowly picked itself up off the ground, wings still sticking straight out behind it. A few of its feathers had gotten bent. "Ah, see, you are a true warrior," it told Jericho. At least they'd gotten something out of it.

Riley smiled, picking up his kill and swinging it over her shoulder easily. No, it's not always like this. But we have to start somewhere, don't we? She patted him on the shoulder, and gave Malodore a sly glance. She'd seen you hiding thar. Let's go back, that was enough excitement for one day.
With one final swing, she started walking back to the dorms.
Lesson two - cooking..
How she missed his fire breath.
