"It's certainly not letting up, is it?" T'nus said to himself, as the thread continued its seemingly endless assault.
He was so tried.. it had been late already when this all started, and it felt like they'd been up here a turn since then. It was a damn good thing he hadn't been drinking at the gather, he realized (wondering briefly if they'd checked to make sure no heavily intoxicated riders were allowed to fly). It was hard enough to keep his concentration already. Shards he wished Lavi was here.. She was his lucky charm. He always flew better with Lavi on his wing. You wouldn't expect the usually-sensible bronze rider to be so superstitious, but he always had a bad feeling about flying without her. Like something bad would if she wasn't there..
As if coming to prove him right, and take advantage of his weariness, a patch of thread loomed above them, missed by the rider and noticed too slowly by his careful dragon.
Mine! Watch out! Azimuth shrieked, already knowing it was too late, and that his cry offered nothing more than a brief moment to brace himself before they were showered in it. Both dragon and rider were hit; the dragon across his muscular shoulder and back, but the rider had it all over. Neck, arms, shoulders, back.. It was fortunately he had just enough time to cover his head before it hit, or it could easily have been fatal.
Once again, the two disappeared between, counting on the cold to kill the thread. When they emerged, the thread was gone, but their injuries were extensive. Worst of all was the back of his neck, which was exposed when the thread hit it.
Mine, you are hurt! We must return to the Weyr and seek- No! It's almost over. My leaving now may disrupt things. The thread is gone. I can manage the pain for just a few minutes more.

I tire. Burmeth told R'nan quite suddenly, though the large brown showed no signs of it in his relentless assault on the incomming thread, burning yet another patch of it to cinders.
R'nan rubbed his dragon's neck encouragingly. It's okay, Burmeth. It's almost over.
The end was in sight, but R'nan also knew the last moments of threadfall were often the most dangerous, as carelessness crept in when riders began to relax. All he wanted was for this to end safely, and with no more injuries. Then they could return home and rest.
Just keep this focus up, Burmeth. You're doing great! I'm so proud of you.

That's ending on a good note! T'nus praised his dragon as they took out a whole patch of thread before it hit the ground on the coastline. The patch after it fell safely into the sea, along with the rest of the Fall.
Oh merciful Farranth, I think it's over. T'nus sighed, half-collapsing into his dragon's strong neck. Mine, we must get you to a healer. Azimuth said worriedly, his eyes spinning with a clouded grey. Yes, yes.. We will. Has R'yn given the order to jump back to the Weyr? He has. Then jump. T'nus said, providing a clear picture to him before promptly passing out on Azimuth's back.
((Just a note: T'nus is waiting on R'yn for RP in earlier posts, and Thali has told me she may be late in getting her posts up. Back filling until then ^_^ ))

Ending on a good-but-not-perfect note, Burmeth caught most of a retreating patch of thread, only to watch the few strands that he missed drift harmlessly into the sea beaneath them.
Alright! R'nan cheered, watching the last of the thread retreat over the ocean. That's it! We can go home! he told Burmeth, and forgetting all seriousness, he flopped forward where he sat and wrapped his arms as far as they would go around his mammoth dragon's neck.
You were so amazing today, Burmeth! he praised lavishly, projecting feelings of love and admiration as strong as if they had just impressed. I've never seen you fight like that before.
You were in danger. Burmeth asserted, simply. It wasn't a matter of fighting, I was just protecting Mine. There is nothing I would not do to keep you safe, R'nan. I know. I know. You're the best, Burmeth. he said, still beaming, before they finally turned and made their way back to the Weyr.

They waited only long enough for the signal from their Wingleader before Tigrith turned on a wingtip, still agile despite her exhaustion, and made a beeline for her weyr. All the little green wanted was numbweed on her score and sleep. She could gorge herself on the promised beasts later.
Dizzian just wanted a really hot bath.

Should have already been mentioned to all relevant parties, but I'll repeat it here, just in case:
Since I don't have strong preference, Dizzy can have the gold. I'll take the brown : D

Considering you never thought to mention it to me, thank you for finally getting around to this.
Guess I'm not a relevant party.
