Shicala Ahi looked a little dumbstruck for a moment but the whole idea of a ruby all for him was all the encouragement the male needed. "Ahi will dance! Ahi will get gem!". His dumbstruck expression went to one of pure joy and exceitement... The firey Pae all but ignored the beat of the waltz of the music playing overhead and started dancing to his own beat in his mind, swinging a hand over his head a moment then to his sides and bouncing moving his legs around and spinning little circles, eventually starting the pattern all over again(( Reference for those trying to picture exactly what he's doing from 37s seconds till about 1 minute 10 seconds )) Not the most graceful of dancing especially for the type of music playing but whatever, the guy was dancing and that was all there was to it but instead of looking like the odd couple she decided to stand back, watch the male for a moment and was pleased she decided to wear two different outfits, she wasn't sure what the Pae she would be dancing with would be like so she made sure she came prepared and took off her floor length dress, and under it was a one piece silk mini halter dress that was black with a red rose pattern on it and shook out her hair from the messy bun it was in. "Back in a sec" she said dancing over to the judges table and laid the dress over the back of a chair and danced back to her partner "now, where were we?" she asked rhetorically as she she studied his dancing a little bit more till she perfectly got the right time and then joined in, dancing in perfect unison with him.

He didn't even notice her changing, though almost chased after her when she turned to go get rid of the dress, well at least until she said she'd be right back. In response to her question he replied to her "Ahi getting treasure!". His tongue stuck out a moment in concentration but he changed his mind on that when he almost bit it in the bouncing of his dance.
Ahi's movements stayed the same for about a minute after she started to mimic him, and then he started to get bored and all of his movements changed, no pattern to them whatsoever. All upbeat movements but everything from his current dance to the macarena to even the chicken dance and others, in no order whatsoever. All the male was doing was moving around even at one point hooking an arm to hers and spinning around.

Phaenna wasn't too happy to be here. It wasn't the dancing...Oh no she loved the dancing. It was the 'with mortals'. Phaenna had yet been given a reason to truly care about them yet. She sighed, this was what mother wanted and so for all of that was glorious she would to her best to give it her all.
Phaenna's attention was brought out by the stammer of a angelic male. Oh bother this will be more trouble then it was worth. "Stand up straight soldier! I will not have you show any weakness while in the gaze of my mother." She snapped at him. She took his left hand in her right while placing his right hand on her hip while she put her left hand on his shoulder. "Follow my lead...EYES ON MY FACE! Any inappropriate touching will result in pain for you." Her eyes narrowed at the poor male. "I do not plan to loose this."

Fea Line Prisma glided through the ball, spinning circles and twirls. She couldn't wait to try out her first dance, competition or not, she was here to have fun! Several giggles passed through her lips as she landed, searching for her dance partner, her wings fluttering behind her none the less. Pothos was it? That sounded like a handsome name as ever. Scanning the crowed, she picked out a pae matching the description she was given for Pothos and gleefully wandered over. "Oh yay, extremely! You are Pothos, are you not?!" she said and twirled again before holding out her hand for him to take. "I can not wait to start dancing!" she cooed in excitement. This was a farce.
The blue Erote sulked near the back of the crowd made up by his brothers and sisters, trying to put this whole thing off as long as he could. This wasn't exactly his scene, but apparently after...whatever...happened last year, they all owed it to Mother to do whatever crazy thing she asked this year. He still couldn't remember exactly what had happened, though some of his brothers had been all too happy to try and fill him in. Pothos decided at one point that he probably didn't want to know anymore, but they'd been all too happy to oblige anyway.
Looked like there wasn't any more hiding to be done though. He'd been spotted. A brightly-colored Faerie was heading his way, a broad smile on her face. Oh gods, she was just so...happy. "Yeah, that's me," he acknowledged, a bit reluctantly. 'I could stand to wait a bit,' he thought silently, but shrugged and kept quiet. Might as well let her believe for a bit longer. She'd realize soon enough what disappointment awaited her.
Sighing softly, he reached for her hand, murmuring, "Guess we should get on with this..."

"Euphrosyne and Blizz!"
Blizz. A Pae named Blizz. Glowing purple eyes scanned the crowd, looking for the one called Blizz. He was to be her partner in this contest of dancing. As most of her siblings scattered, finding their partners and pairing up, she waited to see who was left among the mortals.
A blue male wearing a scarf caught her attention, as he didn't seem to have paired up with anyone else as of yet. Perhaps this one... She moved with a swift, even stride, reaching the male and holding out her hand. "You are Blizz, yes? We are to dance." With no further ado, she reached for his arm to pull him out onto the dance floor.

Prisma contained a happy squeal when he took her head and she smiled at him brightly. "You should be happy! You are living!" she delighted. He was, so far, quite a good dancer, which was a pleasant surprise. She hadn't ever danced before but somehow the beat seemed to just take her by the hands as she wiggled just about anything that could wiggle. She probably even wiggled a few things she shouldn't have. "Wee! My first dance, do i do it extremely?" she blinked at him and fluttered her wings, her big overly happy eyes sparkling.

Abby had wandered her way inside, having lost sight of her date a while ago. She figured with all her aunts and uncles summoned for her grandmother's dance, there was a good chance her father was here. She'd managed to make a dress special for this event. The young demi-goddess had never looked better.
After what seemed like forever, Abby spotted someone who looked very similar to her. Dancing with... Well someone she didn't know. That ruffled her feathers for a moment before she remembered the whole point of the dance. A frown fixed upon her face, she marched forward. The young adult waited until the dance was finished before confronting her father.
"Daddy?" Her voice was a mixture of hope and severe upset.

Trixie hadn't even thought that she'd win a 'date' with someone. Muchless a date with this Hymnaios. The fawnie blinked as she tilted her head, examining her dance partner.
She let the first few moments slide without speaking before actually straightening up and smiling, "Trixie's not normally one for dancing. Or for this valentines - is it like hooves and hearts day?" She asked tilting her head, honestly Trixie'd never had anyone that cared for her, more than the idol worship that she managed to gain in ponyville. Pity that was no longer the case.
She could at least hope she could dance without kicking him or stepping on his hoo-- wait did he have hooves? Trixie concluded these creatures were weird.

The blue male frowned as he found himself back in the same place he had been humiliated not even a year before. He sighed loudly. This was all Care's idea...She signed him up without tell him. Why did she always do this to him?
Blizz didn't even hear his name being called and was too lost in thought to hear the yellow grace come up to him...Until she grabbed his hand. "Hey! Wait! I don't know anything about dancing!" The male blurted out. He felt like this was going to be a longggg night.

This time Kleta couldn't help but chuckle lightly at his enthusiasm, it was quickly cut off by the ever serious goddess. When he mentioned a dance involving a chicken she raised her eyebrows curiously at him, mortal customs were so strange. "I do not have a chicken, perhaps we can find one if that will help you," Kleta had missed that it was a joke, "However, I am the goddess of fame, so I will make sure you dance famously." she encouraged him. Perhaps if she gave him the false confidence that he would become a good dancer from being with her, then he would dance better on his own. Kleta held out her hands in the waltz form that would be appropriate for the man, "Just take my hands, and follow my lead."Diona frowned at the clear disdain in Eros' voice. "Well." she huffed, "likewise." Diona felt her temper flare up, but she quickly took a deep breath, determined to have a good time tonight. This was the god of love, wasn't he supposed to be more... loving? Diona contemplated for a moment on what would happen if she pricked him with one of his own arrows. "Maybe we should start over-" She was cut off as she was whisked away, it wasn't quite how Diona imagined being whisked away, but it was the kind of enthusiasm she had been hoping to get from her dance partner. "Well, that is more like it!" she grinned, ready to get down. "I'm ready to dance if you are."

Rolling Psyche's judge scores. I'll add her commentary after I see the numbers. The couples are numbered and will correspond to the order of the dice. --------------- This was humiliating. This was merely another game the misnamed Goddess of Love was playing in efforts to further drive the wedge between her and her husband deeper. Horrible woman. Psyche had considered ignoring the gilded invitation to judge a dance contest at the Temple of Venus on the mainland because she knew it would be another stupid spectacle like that so called talk show that cost her not only her husband, but her beautiful baby girl. But it was when she noticed that Eros was going to be a contestant that she resolved to go. This will be my chance to finally talk to him. Maybe he's seen his mother for the monster she is and he'll believe me after these years. Or maybe he's moved on and will be dancing with his new lover. The last thought made her sad, but also angry enough to go. He will not win.
Taking a seat on the very edge of the judges table, Psyche was the first to arrive. She made sure to pick the edge seat, knowing Venus would take the other side. After the other judges arrived, she was so very thankful Artemis was beside her, though she would have been just as happy to spend time chatting it up with Tonantzin too. As long as it wasn't Venus, she was happy.
Patiently waiting for Venus to shut her trap and let the contest begin, she watched Eros. It was his partner that she only cared about. A gorgeous red fae with legs up to here. Figures. Psyche fumed, but she did a very good job of hiding her disdain for this whole debacle. She watched the dancers as careful as she could, considering her eyes were mostly on Eros and Diona.
Scoring time came and when Eros and Diona's dance was over, she held a big board with a '2' up in front of her. "You looked like you were dragging each other, not dancing," she snarked.
Psyche watched Anteros and Yukiko glide around the dance floor fluidly. "You make a lovely pair. It's still early in the competition, so think you'll only improve as we go on! I give you a '5'"
Himeros, her favorite in-law, was dancing with a brightly colored faun-looking creature which did not look familiar to her. No surprise, though. Himeros' only requirement in a partner was that they breathed. It was not something she expected to feel, but pangs of jealousy raced through her when she watched the pair gracefully glide across the dance floor. She held up her score, a '1'. "I'm sorry, but I don't think that dance is suited very well to you, Lemon Hearts. Maybe with something a little more up tempo, you'll do better." She didn't know how else to say "I hated it" without sounding bitter or mean.
She couldn't help the smile on her face as she watched Pothos with his dance partner, a beautifully colorful Fae named Prisma. She was just perky and happy enough to be a perfect match for him. When a young woman approached, looking just like Pothos, she couldn't make out quite what was going on, but they looked distressed. They weren't paying attention to anything but themselves, but Psyche had to go on with her judging. "I loved the dance, you two did a wonderful job. I give you a '9'" she said quickly and put her board down to watch the next dance pair.
For Dylo and Iris Topaz, Psyche wasn't sure what it was she'd just witnessed. "I give you both a '3' because while I think Iris Topaz is absolutely gorgeous and sparkly, I'm not sure what that dance would even be called."
For being Venus' kids, you'd think they could dance better. Or maybe she was just feeling bitter in general and it was coming out with her scoring. "I'm sorry, I love you Iordanes and Serendipity is a gorgeous Fae, but I didn't care for that style of dance you chose. So I give you both a '2'."
Seriously? Psyche nearly got up and walked out after this last dance. Hymnaios and Trixie were just awful, in her opinion. Was that even considered dancing? She put on the best smile she could muster. "That was, uhm, interesting. What would you call that dance? I'm sorry but I'm going to have to give you a '1' because it was just not my cup of tea. Sorry."
Psyche sighed a small sigh of relief as Thalia and Seiya danced. It was better than the last few couples, but not as good as she'd expect from a Grace. "I think you two did a good job and you looked great. I give you a '4'."
Things started to look up when she noticed a woman approach Kleta. She was surprised to learn that was the dancing attire chosen by Kleta's partner, Pelagios. This will be fun. She cheered for the pair when their dance completed. It was awkward, but incredibly endearing. "I loved it. I think you two are very entertaining. I give you a '7'."
Now this was a pairing she was eagerly anticipating. She knew her sister-in-law, Phaenna to be rather tough and no-nonsense, so to see her in a dance contest was going to be interesting. She was also pleasantly surprised when she seen how beautiful and amazing Phaenna danced with her partner, Terje. "I loved it. You two did well and I thought you make a great pair. I give you both an '8'."
Now, Venus' mini-me daughter, Aglaia was dancing with a fellow who appeared to be on fire. This was going to be entertaining, if he was hot to the touch like she hoped.Ahi was the most unconventional dancer she'd ever seen in her life. And the fact that Aglaia tried to keep up and play along was surprising. "That was some interesting movements. And I give you props for trying to keep up, Aglaia. I give you both a '3'."
There as something not right about Euphrosyne, the normally bubbly and outgoing Grace of Mirth. She appeared distant and stoic, very disconcerting. She watched intently as she danced with her partner, Blizz. "That was a pretty dance, but I suggest you loosen up a bit, dear," she said to her sister-in-law. "I think Blizz was a good leader, but if you loosen your shoulders a bit, you'll get the beautiful lines with your arms as you glide. I give you a '5' for effort."

Pothos glided over the floor with the female, and despite her extraneous wiggling, the two seemed more or less graceful in their waltz. Well, they weren't tripping or stepping on one another's toes at least. That was positive. He wasn't sure how to respond to her comment, though. Yes, he was alive. That was supposed to be a good thing, right?
This was her first dance? Well, that explained a lot. Still, if that was the case, she wasn't doing so badly. Perhaps Fae were naturally graceful to some extent...? He couldn't say he knew much about them for sure. He'd kept to himself much of the last year in any case, after the last dance his mother had held. "Do you do...what extremely?" he asked, puzzled.
He was saved from answering, if one could consider it so, by a new voice. They were just winding down from the waltz when a voice from close by called "Daddy?". It was only the natural reaction one has to a voice close by calling something, and not to the word itself, or he'd have never reacted at all. Pothos turned to look towards the source of the voice, without considering why he did so...then he froze. That hair, that skin color, those markings...it was hard to mistake them. He saw them in the mirror each morning.
Eyes wide, he nearly stumbled to a halt and tripped over Prisma's feet. Good thing the dance was nearly over. "I...I...err...what?"
Not the most composed reaction.

Prisma wasn't sure what was going on. She wasn't even aware the dance was ending because she just kept....dancing. "Do I dance extremely? Do i do it okay?" she beamed, her way of talking weird. She laughed when Potho's tripped over his feet, thinking it was some sort of dance move and wet to catch him and spin him around while fluttering a bit off the ground. "Oh! Hello other one! You have a daughter? Does she dance too!?" she gleed and waved spastically to Abby.

Abby frowned, she couldn't figure out why he froze so quickly when she spoke to him. Had he really hoped to avoid knowing about her the entire time? Or did he know and planned on avoiding her. She crossed her bangled arms, frowning up at him.
"You are my father aren't you?" The hope had morphed to pain, accusation. She was not happy with this man, and he had no excuses. He wasn't mysteriously missing anymore. Uncle Himeros hadn't told her that he was back though. She'd have to talk to him later, but for now.. Her father was more concerning. He couldn't even say hello? It was the first time they'd ever met! The young adult was not happy right now. Not happy at all. She couldn't even figure out why. She'd only dreamed of meeting her father for most of her life!
She blinked, waving at the dance partner. "Hi there?" Her head tilted, looking at the ditzy seeming fae. He certainly got around didn't he?

Himeros swept the Fauny off to the dance floor, the waltz proving to be a good starting point for the contest. It was easy enough in basic structure, but there was room yet for adding complexity for those who were ready for it. Even with hooves, the woman proved to be reasonably graceful, Himeros noted.
"You dance divinely, my dear," he quipped with a wink. "I would know, of course." Grinning, he led her into a quick twirl before returning to the basic steps of the waltz, taking care to lead them right by the judges table so that he could flash a winning grin and a wink at the lovely judges (oh, and his mother).
