Lirilei
Mei & Brenny's reactions to her change!

Mei woke up laying not in her usual sleeping spot...but on the bed. Brenny's bed. She recognized it from all the time she spent sitting on it, so why was she asleep on it? She didn't remember coming back inside....and certainly not choosing to sleep on Brenny's bed!

There was a low yawn from her as she opened her eyes and sat up stretching some...but she blinked realizing there was a lot more to her than she was expecting. She brought her hands up...and suddenly let out a yelp. "Oh my god! What happened to me?!"

Brenny moved from his spot on the floor, looking up at Mei. "You're okay!" he exclaimed. "I took care of you all night. I thought you were sick or something." He moved to offer Mei a shirt. "Here," he said. "It should be big enough," he began awkwardly. "You must have found one of those stars," he said. He wasn't sure how to react. He'd lost his pet; but gained a sibling, he supposed.

Mei blinked at Brenny, and looked down at herself realizing she looked more like him and not like herself. The shirt was taken and she got it on...sort of. It was backwards, but on. “I feel sorta weird Brenny..." well suddenly growing like this, it was no wonder!

Brenny moved to hug Mei. "It is weird, isn't it?" he asked, frowning in concern. "But you'll be okay, Mei. I still love you and I'll take care of you just like I did before." He moved to gently stroke her back, as he had done when she was a mienfoo.

"It's really weird Brenny! I'm so much taller...and stuff...and just..." it was sort of overwhelming in a way. "And then knowing I was Connie's age before....and now I look your age...its so confusing!"

"But we know you're really Connie's age," Brenny assured her, smiling gently. "How you look doesn't change who you are, Mei. Or how old you are."

"You know that, and I know that...and Connie knows that but no one else will." she looked a little troubled...then suddenly smiled. "I'll be able to help out more now though won't I?" this prospect brightened her features and she threw the blanket back, marveling at her legs and wiggling her toes.

"Yeah! I bet you could. You're bigger now. And no one can catch you!" He beamed, hugging her again. "You're all ours now. But no more running away, Mei," he said sternly. "If you do, Daddy might cry."

Mei doubted it was Connie that would cry, but Brenny himself. Still....this sudden surge of emotions was strong in this form, and it did help her understand a little better why the Celebi boy got upset so easily. "I can't promise that but I can try not to." at least she was honest!

"Okay, trying is good," Brenny agreed, rather reluctantly. "Mei..." he began, "what are you to me now? You can't be my pet anymore, you're a person. Do you want to be my sister? You're older than me, though... so you'd be my big sister. Do you want to be?" he looked at her hopefully. "You won't leave us, will you? You'll stay?"

"I don't know what I am to you...I guess big sister works. Though Connie is still your dad not mine...that whole same age thing." she gave a soft laugh and sat on the edge of the bed swinging her legs lightly. "I'll stay as long as I can Brenny...this place is a bit small for three of us now though...I don't want to be a burden."

"We'll find a bigger place," Brenny decided. "We can help Daddy earn money for a bigger place. I'm sure that would make him happy. And he'd like that better than a video camera. You staying is more important than that," he nodded decisively. "Yeah! We'll raise money for a bigger place and surprise Daddy!"

Mei's eyes went wide and she shook her head. "No I know! We get the camera and the money for a bigger place. I wish I was as big as Connie though, so I could work and help earn more money. I like you guys, you're both so nice." she nodded her head lots.

"Oooh! Okay!" Brenny beamed, nodding eagerly. "We can get the camera and raise money for the bigger place!' He shook his head, taking Mei's hand. "Soon I'll be as big as Connie," he said. "Then I can get a job and earn money!" He gave her another smile. "I like you too, Mei," he said. "And Daddy does too."

Mei smiled brightly. "You wanted that for him...and it's a good gift. I think he'll like both." she squeezed Brenny's hand and shook her head. "Emotions are so...strange...and strong like this." it was so strange!! "I can't wear all your clothes...first thing we need to do is get me my own..." which meant money...and asking Connie. Which she dreaded. "I'll have to earn money though. I don't want to ask Connie and give him anything more to worry about."

"Wait!" Brenny cried, moving from his spot on his bed and bending to reach something underneath it. He pulled out a shoe box. "Here," he said, holding it out to her. "It's a dress and shoes. I bought it with some extra money from the lemonade stand. It was going to be for Cecily when she decided to come live with us, but I don't think she will--and now you're my sister, so I want you to have it." He beamed at her. "It's a present for finding your star."

She took the box from him and opened it up looking between what was inside and to Brenny, and smiled brightly. "Are you sure Brenny? It's very nice...but if there's any chance she might...well then you should keep it for her. I can wear this for now till I can get something of my own." she hated to take away the gift meant for his real sister...

"No," Brenny said, shaking his head. "I want you to keep it." He gave her hand a squeeze, beaming at her as he renewed his place on the bed. "You're my sister now, Mei. And that present was meant for my sister. That's you."

Mei set the box aside a moment, and very simply hugged Brenny tightly. "Thank you Brenny. I'll go try it on right now then." she picked up the box and slipped off the bed, looking around as she did. "So high...wow..." it was weird! Her fingers curled around the door knob and she stared more. "I can open doors now!"

Brenny beamed at Mei's reactions to being taller--and able to open doors. "Yes, isn't it wonderful?" he asked, smiling at her. "Go try it on," he said. "You'll look really pretty in it, Mei."

"It's so weird Brenny....but I like it!" she went into the bathroom and closed the door and began to fumble with the dress trying to work it out. Before long it was on, and she'd even brushed her hair. Brenny had used his brush on her fur more than once, so she borrowed it for a moment to brush her hair awkwardly. The shoes went on...and were back off...they felt weird! After a moment they were back on and she went back to Brenny's room carrying the clothes she'd been wearing, tripping over her own feet thanks to the shoes.

"You look pretty, Mei," Brenny beamed, offering her his hand. "Here," he said. "I can help you walk. When I changed, I couldn't walk very well at all," he confided. "Daddy had to help me learn. I was so used to flying everywhere."

"Its the shoes...they make it hard...but I know people wear them so I'll get used to them. I'll practice inside though so I don't ruin the dress." that would be bad she knew!

Brenny nodded in understanding. He hated shoes, and only wore them when he needed to. "You don't have to wear them all the time," he said. "I've seen people go around barefoot. It's okay in the soft grass and inside. But if you go on the side walk without shoes your feet might get burnt!" He had experience with that, ouch!

"Well I think practicing inside is good, so if I fall, at least I won't tear or stain the dress, that would make me feel really bad. But if my feet start to hurt I'll take them off for awhile...the shoes I mean, not my feet."

Brenny giggled. "No, you can't take off your feet," he said, giving another giggle. "Just like before!" It was nice, he thought, how Mei seemed to take this in stride. She even acted like she was about his age! "Come play, Mei. We can surprise Daddy!"

"Would be sort of weird if we could take our feet off huh?" she looked down at her feet and wiggled them a moment. "Play? Like what? Catch?" she smiled and started walking only to trip and fall...and started laughing. "That will take some getting used to..."

"Catch is good!" Brenny agreed, offering Mei his hand. "Come on, Mei. It'll help you with coordination, too. If you can catch, then you can do all sorts of things!"

"Catching is going to be different?" oh look at her eyes widen as she took his hand and got back to her feet and started off after Brenny. She had a lot to learn!

"Yeah. Since your arms are bigger now you have to-- how do you say--uh... be better prepared? Uh. Aim better when throwing? I don't think your strength will have changed. You're still a pokemon, you just look different now." Brenny beamed, leading her to the yard.

"Ohhh okay. Well that makes sense. Still this will be fun I think." she beamed and grabbed the ball to follow him outside, grinning again. "I like this...this whole being bigger thing. Catch Brenny!"

For some unknown reason, this journal entry is choppy and poorly written. Towards the end of the page, splotches of ink seem to have smeared the words together. It looks as if the writer had spilt something, or perhaps he had fallen asleep and drooled? Or, from the spacing of the splotches; another theory was more likely. The writer had been crying.

Journal,

Came home from the beach alone. It was fun. I saw Cam and Timmy. That was nice. Mitsuru and others were there too. Lots of food, but I didn't have any. I could've brought some home for Daddy. I wish he had been there. But he was busy with work.

I saw my sister, journal. But she didn't recognize me. She was scared of me. Shaking and cowering from me. I don't know why... I'd been told that my sister would know me no matter what. That my changes didn't change who I was and that she would still recognize me. But she didn't, journal. She didn't. I think, before I told her who I was, she hated me. She was terrified. Like I was going to drag her away into a dungeon and lock away the key, like Beast did to Belle. But without the pretty rose and talking clock and everything that makes that movie not scary. I don't think she meant to be mean, and she really was scared, journal--it just hurt. It hurt to know my sister knew so little about me that she couldn't recognize me.

That she had forgotten how I acted. That she'd forgotten my voice. She didn't know me. I was some monster to her. But it hurt even more that she thought I'd left her. She left me, journal. She talked about a picture I had drawn for that nice human, Mariana. But I never was able to find her house. If Cecily had really looked for me, instead of leaving me, she would've found me in the clearing.

It hurts, journal. I didn't know loving someone could hurt so much. But it's clear to me that she's happier away from all people, including her twin brother; me. She was terrified of me, journal. Terrified. I don't want that to happen again. And I'm sure it will. If she can forget me in such a short amount of time--if she can forget everything that makes me me, in whatever form I am--I think it's for the best that she didn't accept my offer to have her come live with us. She's happiest where she is. She can stay there. I don't want to see her again.

I know that's selfish... I don't want to go through that pain again. I can't remember ever feeling so selfish before, journal. I know maybe that my choice will hurt her. But I can't see her again. I can't. Not when I know she might forget me again. Not when I know she'll see me as a monster. I love her so much, journal. I looked for her for months. I hoped she had missed me as much as I had missed her.

But if she had, she would've known me. And loved me. Just as Daddy said she would recognize me. She would've.

Don't Boss Me Around!

Mei...was frustrated. Exceedingly so. Brenny had been extremely bossy lately and it was becoming....well unbearable though she was doing her best to bear it. Though at the moment she was very much trying to keep her calm...and had walked away from the Celebi boy to keep from snapping at him. She was patient...as a pokemon. But this childs body made it hard on her at times to maintain that patience. She swore it had a mind of it's own!

Eliot had followed Mei, shaking his head. "I don't think he means to be mean," he said. He too, had been bossed around. Brenny loved them, he knew that. But sometimes he wondered if the boy forgot that they were no longer pokemon. "I think someone has to tell him that he can't always have his way," he said. Brenny was young, even by pokemon standards. The boy didn't hide the fact that he had hatched last fall. "And he certainly can't tell you what to do."

Mei gave Eliot a wry smile over her shoulder. "I don't think he means to be mean either...and I've been trying my best not to get upset with him..." she turned fully instead of looking over her shoulder at him, and leaned against the wall next to the window she'd been looking out of. "I guess that someone should be since I am technically the oldest one here currently hm?" a wry smile given. This wasn't exactly a conversation she was looking forward to.

"Yes," Eliot said. "I think you should be. You're the oldest--but that's not the reason why," he said, shaking his head. "You've known him the longest. I think the two of you are close enough that he'll listen to you and want to fix this. I don't think he's aware that he's upsetting you, Mei. If he was, I don't think he'd be doing it."

"I haven't known him that much longer than you...but okay I'll go talk to him." she took a deep breath trying to calm herself down. "I don't like how upset I get...I used to be so patient as a Pokemon... I swear I get upset easier now." a wry look crossed her lips then.

The magikarp boy paused, studying Mei for a moment. "Maybe your emotions are confused," he said. "You've spent some time as a little boy's pets. You've been subjected to his whims and dealt with his emotions. I don't know how to fix that. You'll have to control your own emotions. Remember that you're an adult."

Brenny was playing in the living room with a set of toy cars he'd purchased earlier. "Mei!" he exclaimed when he spotted her. "Want to play with me? You can be this car if you like!" he held up his red car. "Or if you want, you can be the blue one." He hadn't been able to find a green car. That one, of course, would've been his favorite.

Mei shook her head and instead sat down with him and gave him a smile. "No thank you Brenny, but thank you for asking." she was trying to figure out the best way to bring up the subject that needed discussed. How to phrase things so she didn't upset of confuse him in the long run.

"Okay," Brenny agreed with a small smile. He set the cars down on the coffee table and turned to face her. "What do you want to do?" he asked. "Want to play tag? But it's kind of cloudy and I think it might rain..." he looked out the window, sighing. "We can play something else, if you want. Want to play house? Eliot can be our baby."

Well so far so good...he wasn't being bossy which was a change from lately. Though Mei shook her head. "Not right now. Actually Brenny, I need to talk to you a little. You know how earlier you got upset because I didn't want to watch that movie with you?"

"Yeah," Brenny frowned at her slightly. "I don't know why you wouldn't. I think you'd like it." She was his little sister now, it was his job to take care of her, and by extension, find things he thought she might like. Things that would make her happy. He couldn't pick her up and carry her around now, she was too heavy. He wished he could, though. That would've made things easier.

"Because you didn't ask me if I wanted to watch it Brenny. You said I was going to watch it. You were forcing me to do something without finding out if it was what I wanted to do. If you had asked me politely 'Mei do you want to watch this with me?' or even 'Hey! Can we watch a movie together?' not your 'Sit down you're going to watch this now!' that you did my answer would have been different. It's not nice to boss people around."

Brenny crossed his arms. He looked away from Mei. "I just thought you'd like it," he said. "But you got all mad about it and I didn't know why. I don't think I was being too bossy." Maybe a little. He was still adjusting to Mei's sudden change. It had been so much easier when she'd been a pokemon. He was quiet for a long moment, before saying, "I'm sorry I bossed you, Mei. I just thought you'd like it."

"I might have. I've enjoyed other things you've had me watch with you. But you demand, not ask. You want to have it your way, continually." she smiled gently. "You forget, I'm not a pokemon anymore, and despite being in a childs body I am still older than you."

Though Brenny would never have said it, he thought Mei had been much more fun as a pokemon. He didn't want to hurt her feelings, though, so he forced a smile. "Right," he said. "Habit, I guess. I'm sorry I've been bossy. You don't have to do anything you don't want to."

Mei could see he wasn't happy, and shifted to hug him a soft smile given. "Sorry...I don't mean to upset you any..." she got to her feet with a low sigh. "I'm going to go outside for a little bit." she brushed her hand over his hair and opened the door to step outside and get fresh air. She hated being trapped in this childs body really. And the forced smile on Brenny's face made her stomach twist guiltily.

Brenny followed her outside. He took her hand in his, frowning slightly. "You didn't upset me," he said. "I'm just... upset at myself. I didn't realize the way I was acting upset you. I'm sorry, Mei." It was a lie. He had been acting out ever since Mei had changed. He had lost a pet, and gained a sister. But there were things, Brenny was learning, that you could do with pets, and not with sisters.

She hadn't expected to be followed. She had expected to be alone and she'd planned to just settle in the shade somewhere and meditate. However Brenny grabbing her hand had her turning, and she knelt down hugging him tightly. "I know you've been unhappy since I changed...and more since Eliot changed and came...it's a lot to have happen. You need a pet...a humans pet...not a pokemon...then it can't change on you. If I get you a pet will you be happy again?"

Brenny hesitated, returning the hug. "That's not it," he muttered. "I just--you've--you've changed, Mei. In more ways than the obvious." He ran a hand through her hair. "I know you're not a pet. And I love having you as my sister. My real sister." He paused, blinking at her words. "I don't need one," he said. "Not really. Daddy can't afford another pet."

"I feel confused sometimes Brenny." she hugged him back and sat down with a sigh. "I think one thing...this body does another...or can't do what I want...I guess I'm having a hard time adjusting from being as old as Connie...but in a child's body." it was rough! "I'm sorry I'm different." in so many ways.

Brenny sat down next to Mei. "I never had to deal with that," he admitted. "I was really young when I transformed, so I didn't have to adjust much. It took me some time before my legs would support me for long. Or that's what it felt like. But I think Daddy had to adjust. And I know Eliot did. Maybe you should ask them how to fix it."

"And I'm about Connie's age...so this is really weird for me. I'll have to ask him what it was like for him if he had to adjust...and Eliot...well he's still younger than me...I don't think its been as hard for him. The walking thing yes..but he's good at it now. Just like you."

"I don't think so either," Brenny said, with a shake of his head. "He seems pretty well adjusted. I think he's adoptable. I mean adaptable! Yeah. When I caught him, he didn't mind me calling him Karpi!"

Mei couldn't help but giggle at Eliot being called adoptable. "Eliot's really nice. He's the one that told me I should talk to you instead of keeping quiet about it longer." it had been bugging her for awhile after all. She leaned against Brenny lightly. "I think we'll be okay...just need to work some things out huh?" a light smile given to him. "I forget sometimes you're really young still."

"He's really wise." Brenny said, smiling. "I don't know how he got so wise, when he's lived in a lake all his life, but he is. I'm glad you talked to me, Mei. I wouldn't have known I was upsetting you." He pulled her against him. "Sometimes I forget too," he said. "You know, when I first found you I thought I could take care of you. But you take care of me instead."

City Adventures
Shopping was needed...a few of his favorite things had gotten semi-mangled lately in his daily romps with Big Daddy, and while he wasn't against the fun of it all, he hated that sometimes his clothes were paying the price. "Come on Brenny, lets go for a walk...maybe you can show me around the city a little? It seems really big..." the Mienfoo was out of her element in such a large city, so getting to learn the place better was probably a good idea really. "Maybe we can find something for you to take home to your daddy..."

"Oooh, we can bring a present home for Daddy!" Brenny was thrilled at the idea. Maybe they would make a friend! Maybe they would meet another wild pokemon to bring home. Maybe they would meet Kermit the Frog! How exciting! Going out on an adventure always was; but now that he had Mei to go with, things had become even better. It seemed having a friend to explore with made things twice as exciting. "Maybe I can buy you something too!" he exclaimed, beaming at the mienfoo. "I can buy you something to eat or play with."

"I think bringing a present home for him would be a very nice thing really." Mei smiled at the Celebi boy as she spoke. His enthusiasm was adorable, and really she didn't have the heart to tell him she was a bit old for playing. She recalled cavorting around many years ago.....many, many years ago. She felt closer in age to Connie...perhaps a little older though she knew her size, and the fact she was a Pokemon was misleading at times. She dealt with it easily enough. "If you'd like to buy me something you may, you always point out the most interesting things to try." Mei was walking along with Brenny rather slowly, enjoying the day when she heard an impatient clearing of a throat behind them and looked over her shoulder at a grumpy looking Mawile looking down at them. "You mind moving out of the way? Some of us don't have all day!"

"You don't have to be so mean!" Brenny turned to face the mawile, crossing his arms. "Some of us are just having a good time. You should try it!" He hesitated, scooping Mei up. He didn't know what kind of pokemon this mawile was, but he didn't feel it was very friendly. "Come on Mei, he doesn't seem like he's very nice," he said. "We can go look for presents somewhere else."

Scooped up wasn't such a bad thing really, it was a little less unnerving than having that grumpy looking teen glaring so far down at her. Her eyes narrowed however at the tone. "Now listen here! We have every bit as much right to be walking along the street as you do." "Of course you do, but do you need to do it so slowly? I need to do my shopping and get back to the club so I can work tonight sheesh." "And we were supposed to know this how?" The Mawile teen looked momentarily angry. "Of course. No one ever knows who I am...damn Reese and his stupid fuc.." "Watch. Your. Mouth." "Excuse me?" "You heard me. You need to watch the bad language, Brennen doesn't need to hear that." "Well excuuuuuuse me princess." Mei shook her head. "Come on Brenny, I think we should go, he's not going to be easily reasoned with I see."

"You shouldn't say mean words," Brenny said, shaking his finger at the teenager. "You should be nice! A smile can mean a lot to people, and kindness makes it so everyone knows you! I bet that's why you aren't well known. I have lots of friends," he gave a nod, "because I'm nice!" He gave Mei a squeeze. "You can come shopping with us, if you want. I can teach you to be friendly! Yay!"

"You have got to be kidding me...go shopping with you?" he sneered down at the boy, ignoring the admonition to 'be nice' and all. "I'd almost rather sit and talk to that stupid Teddiursa..." he growled a little at the idea, the jaws at his back snapping in irritation. "Brenny's right you shouldn't say mean words. It's not nice at all." "Who gives a s**t about nice?" Mei had never met such an unpleasant Pokemon before. Even the ones belonging to the relatives of her dead master weren't this bad!

"You're mean," Brenny frowned, lip trembling dangerously. "Mei, let's go. We don't need to talk to bullies. We can tell Daddy all about it!" He sniffled, wiping at his eyes. "We stood up to a bully!"

"Kid, you ain't the one in this life I'm nice to. You're certainly not Big Daddy." he laughed then an odd little laugh, though Mei caught the meaning though and frowned. "Yes, lets go. I think Connie will be proud of you for standing up to this guy." Mei looked Zev over, wholly unimpressed by what she saw. "So Brenny where do you want to go first?" she urged the child to walk...unhappy to see the guy following them.

"Let's go to the toy store!" Brenny exclaimed, pointing to a store across the street. "Look! I bet there's something you'd like! I have enough to buy you a doll or something!" he'd mowed the lawn for a neighbor, who had generously given him ten dollars. He'd also met with Mrs. Neighbor; she'd provided cookies and lemonade for his trouble. "And we can tell Daddy. Maybe he'll buy us icecream! Yay!"

"Toy store?" what was one of those? Mei still had plenty to learn about the city and it's various stores really. Zev followed behind just because it was amusing him to antagonize the two. He was becoming limited in what he could do back at the club. Urban kept Jayme away from him, and Big Daddy liked the brat for some reason, so he didn't often get to lash out anymore. So this...this was good! "Well I don't know about a doll, but I bet you might find something you like. We can look." "Go on babies. Go buy dollies, and ice cream, and don't forget the binkies..." Mei was growing tired of the shenanigans from this badly dressed guy. "Aren't you a little old for toy stores? Shouldn't you be finding clothing that fits you better?" Zev laughed. "Mmm why? Big Daddy enjoys what I wear, as do I." "I don't want to know. Come on Brenny. If we go inside he won't be able to bother us as easily."

"You're a baby," Brenny responded, turning and sticking his tongue out at Zev. "You don't even have manners. I bet you don't know how to. Because you're a baby! A big one." He wrinkled his nose in disgust. How could any one pokemon be so cruel? He turned around and nodded. "Let's go in! We can tell the store owner if he bothers us."

Mei couldn't help but giggle some at Brenny's taunts. It was cute if ineffective. "Inside is best, I'm sure they'll kick him out if he harasses us." she glared at Zev. "I thought you had a limited amount of time?" Zev glowered, annoyed to be reminded by that and without a word walked off with a growl. "What a strange guy he is...come on Brenny, lets look around shall we?"

Brenny was relieved when the boy left, until he remembered something. He set Mei down carefully and took off after the boy. "Hey, wait!" he called. "I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings! ...Have you seen a celebi? Er. Not me. A pink one. Her name's Cecily and she's been missing since Winter. I've been looking for her for a long time... So if you see her, you'll tell me?"

Mei watched as Brenny took off after the teen, and frowned in concern and started after him, her legs of course much shorter so taking her a bit to catch up. Zev had head the kid calling after him and his jaws chomped at him in irritation as he spun on a heel and looked down at the kid with narrowed eyes. "Why should I bother telling you, you little brat?" he snarled some at the boy, Mei catching up in time to hear Brenny be called a brat, and she glared up at the teen so fiercly, he sighed. "No kid, I haven't seen any other Celebi's. Pink or other wise. Now, do you mind letting me get to my shopping?"

"She's my sister and I miss her and--" Brenny began, sniffling. He paused long enough to notice the teenager change his tune, and nodded. "But if you do see her?" he asked hopefully. "I've asked everyone I've met so far and no one's seen her..." But the teen wanted to get going, he knew. Maybe shopping was more important to him than even making a friend. The celebi boy wasn't sure he'd ever understand that reasoning.

"Yeah sure kid, if I see her I'll tell her that her obnoxious brother is looking for her, and if I see you again if I've seen her I'll tell you." he sounded more than a little impatient, and Mei reached up for Brenny's hand. "Lets go now. He's obviously wanting to go. So, what kind of toy do you want to get for yourself?" changing the subject? Yes of course.

"Nope! But I'm going to get you a doll!" Brenny beamed, taking Mei's hand. "Let's go!" he led her cheerfully into the store. "Now you pick one, okay? Any one you want. Then I'll pick something for me!"

"Uhm..Brenny dear I'm a bit...old for a doll." she squirmed a little, a sheepish smile given. "But maybe a ball or something the two of us can play with together...?" well it wasn't a bad idea she didn't think. She didn't know what she'd do with a doll!

"Oooh. A ball! We could play catch!" He didn't seem to mind the change. He was however, made increasingly aware that not all pokemon were the same age. "How old are you?" he asked, with a tilt of his head. "You never said. You must be older than me. But how old are you really? Then I can know what kind of presents you'd like."

"Catch is a good thing yes." she smiled in relief that he didn't mind the change. "Well....I think I'm around Connie's age maybe a little older or younger honestly but not by much either way. I've never really paid attention before. I just recall being young...a child...like you a really long time ago." she gave a smile to him and waited outside the door to the toy store so he could open it. She just couldn't reach.

"Hm... So you're Daddy's age!" Brenny's eyes were wide. He was having some trouble comprehending that such a small creature was so much older than he was. "Hm..." He paused in his thoughts to open the door. "But I don't know what Daddy would want, so I don't--but what would you like?" He was quickly realizing that buying for a set age group wouldn't work.

"About that age yes. Maybe a year or two older or younger but close." she could tell it was something he was having a hard time wrapping his head around, that she was older than him, and possibly Connie. "I don't know either. I'm not familiar with toys..." she expected to be in for quite a lesson on toys.

Teen Plots Post (I have the right to change this as I will xD);

I have hesitated to grow Brenny for two reasons. Brenny's plots required it, as he's taken some time to find his missing sibling; and his emotional state as a character depended on it. He's made rather large leaps in this growth; learning that not everyone's as nice as Connie. Or Cam. Or Urban. That people can be cruel; and that some people enjoy it.

As Brenny grows older, his plots will become increasingly more thoughtful and serious. He will spend more time reflecting and reworking his goals. His goal will change from finding his sister, to making it a personal goal to provide happiness to everyone he meets. He will realize his sister is happier away from him due to her fear of others, and respect that. He will most likely cut all ties with her, and focus on the family he has now.

Eventually he'll realize, for some people to be happy, he has to sacrifice his own happiness. As with his sister, he will find others' happiness to be of more importance than his.

- Brenny to spend time with Grayson (and Karma!)
- Brenny to attempt earning money for Connie's sake
- Brenny to (re)meet Jacen when they're teens
- Brenny to get a job
- Brenny to attempt to matchmake (Mission: Find Dad a proper girlfriend)
- Brenny will realize Mei and Eliot fancy each other and attempt to set them up.
- Brenny to take up painting
- Brenny to get girlfriend?
-Romance~

Dear Journal,

I know this is going to sound strange after what I said the last time. And it still stands, really. But cutting all ties with my sister and still thinking about her are different things. At least, I think so. I've seen a lot of people break up on television when I can sit down long enough to actually watch it. They cut ties that way, but some of them never stop loving each other. It makes it very sad. I worry about my sister, journal. I've been reflecting on things since I met her at the beach.

I'd asked most everyone I'd met since coming to the city if they had seen--or heard about her. Every one of them said no. What does that mean? Sure, there's more people than I could ever meet in the world--but what if she hasn't met anyone? How would she have friends? What if she doesn't have any friends? Does she even know how to make friends? If she doesn't, will she when the time comes? I don't know, journal. Is being a friend something you can learn? For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to make friends. The idea was so exciting! New friends to share adventures with! To share stories with, to play with! All of the friends I've made in the city--they mean so much to me. I want Cecily to be able to experience that. I want her to be happy.

I want someone to look out for her. Like Daddy does for me. Like Cam and Urban do. She's so shy and scared of people, I don't know what she'd do if she met someone not nice, like the people Cam told me about. She would probably assume all people are like that and be even more afraid. She needs a friend. Someone who can show her people aren't bad. Not all people. I haven't met a bad person, yet, in all the time I've been here. Not one. I know there are bad people; Daddy told me about them, and Cam too. They wouldn't lie to me; but I've never met a bad person. I've met people who pretend to be. Zev's one of them. Urban's the other.

I think Zev just likes to pretend to be tough and mean, but he's really nice. He brought me a movie and helped me count the money I made at my lemonade stand! Then he gave me a whole twenty! Just to help me buy my present for Daddy! He is a good person! He is. But Mei doesn't like him... I'll have to convince her.

Bye, Journal!

Cruel Intentions?
(What happens when Mei thinks Brenny is cruel...and gets mad?)

"So, how do you think I should try to get Cecily's attention?" Brenny asked aloud, glancing hopefully at Mei. He'd gone days, saying he would attempt to cut Cecily from his life--but today, he seemed to have a different idea. "Maybe I could catch her in a pokeball. She'd have a family then." He gave a smile. "Then she'd be happy and she wouldn't be scared of me!"

Mei had been sitting and meditating a little, just trying to clear her mind and relax as it were when Brenny asked his rather surprising question. One eye came open and she raised the brow curiously. "I thought you didn't want anything to do with her now....and suddenly you think catching her in a pokeball is the way to get her to be happy?" she shook her head. "Sounds like a bad idea."

Brenny blinked at her, frowning. "I know that's what I said," he said. "But I can't help it, Mei. I keep thinking about her even though I don't want to. I love her and I worry about her and I want to take care of her. Lots of pokemon have trainers, and they're always happy... So why wouldn't she be? She'd remember she loves me."

"So you think capturing her in a pokeball, and forcing your own sister to be your pokemon, and you her trainer is the right thing to do? For one...thats just not right. She's your sister for Arceus' sake...and two she's scared of humans...and pokehumans from what you told me...so how would forcing her to be around a houseful of people she'd be terrified of make things better? She'd probably die of fright! You need to think of something that isn't so cruel."

Brenny hesitated, eyes widening in horror at Mei's description of his thought. "I uh..." he began, awkwardly. "I didn't think of it that way," he admitted. "I thought maybe if I caught her she wouldn't be so afraid. Because she'd remember me and remember she loves me. But... You really think it'd kill her?

"Brenny...she was scared of you at the beach...do you really think capturing her in a pokeball and taking her from her home, and all she knows to somewhere she'd be terrified is good for her? Would you want someone you were scared of to come along and trap you in something small and dark...and take you away to a new house with new people to live?" Mei frowned some and opened both eyes. "I understand you want her here, but thats not the way to go about it."

"But she shouldn't be scared of me!" Breny protested. "I'm her brother! It's her own fault she's afraid of everyone and everything. She's never given anyone different from us a chance!" He crossed his arms. "But if I caught her, she could be my sister again. I could take care of her and she wouldn't have to be scared."

"She shouldn't but she is Brenny. I realize you're her brother but sometimes people are afraid of silly things, for silly reasons." she was on her feet then, and blinked at the Celebi boy. "Oh, so now you magically know if she has, or hasn't given people a chance? Funny given you were looking for her when we met! How do you know she hasn't tried? I think you're being selfish and cruel. I didn't know you were cruel Brenny." there was a disgusted sigh from her then. "I'm done talking to you. I don't want to talk to you when you're acting like a spoiled brat, and willing to risk someone's health and well being for your own happiness. You can't always get what you want Brenny, and the sooner you learn that, the better!" mad? Oh yes...

Brenny frowned. He stood up, turning away from Mei. "I'm just saying, because I know her, Mei. She never gave anyone a chance while I was with her. Never. She was afraid of humans even before we'd ever seen one. And when we did see one, she hated everything that human had with her." Why didn't Mei understand? He didn't want to hurt his sister! He wanted to help her. If being caught made Cecily remember who he was, and remember that she loved him--he could help her. He could teach her that there were good humans. Yes, there were bad ones, Connie had told him about them. "Fine," He said. "I don't want to talk to you either." He'd never been called cruel before. Bossy, yes. Cute, sweet, adorable, friendly--yes. What was wrong with Mei?

"Fine." Mei threw her hands in the air and stomped into the shared bedroom and ripped her pillow and blanket off the bed and threw them into a corner of the room, and she very simply laid down on the floor, blanket pulled up to her chin and faced the wall. Not many places she could go to be away from Brenny, and she didn't feel like a walk. So while he insisted on being a cruel, selfish jerk, she'd stay right here and face the wall, and sleep here and ignore Brenny. Why couldn't he realize he was thinking stupidly? Ugh!

Brenny turned to face Mei, blinkiing down at her. "Mei?" he asked. He'd apparently forgotten the desire to ignore his sister in surprise; he was being ignored! "Why do you think catching her is so cruel?" he asked. "I thought it'd be a good thing."

Mei continued to ignore him. After all she'd said, and he'd said they didn't want to talk to the other. So why was he talking to her? She wasn't going to talk to him! This went on for exactly five heart beats before she sighed, still staring at the wall. "Because you're talking about forcing her into a situation that scares her. I'd hate you forever if you did something like that to me." well then.

"But sometimes you have to face your fears before becoming a better person," Brenny protested. "I saw it in movies. It's true. If you face your fears, you can realize you were wrong about them and realize they're really something you like! Like yesterday, I didn't like pickles! But I like pickles today, because I tried them. They're not bad." The celebi paused, seemingly thinking of a way to explain his thought process to Mei. "It's like... I'd caitch her, but I'd let her go. And she'd be your sister too, Mei. We could take care of her and teach her that we aren't scary. We'd love her and protect her and make sure she was happy. Just like I always do for you, Mei."

Movies are fake Brenny. Nothing in them is real. They tell you to face your fears. So what, because I'm terrified of lightning, you'd lock me outside in the middle of a storm and leave me there to face my fear? Real nice. Good to know. Remind me to stay away from the doors and windows so you don't shove me outside and leave me there." she huffed and pulled the blanket over her head. "And when you open the pokeball she'd be there...dead of fright because you were selfish. Just like I'd be dead of fright if you locked me outside with lightning. You're cruel. Go away. I don't want to talk to you right now." the words were muffled thanks to the blanket but not badly so.

That wasn't quite what Brenny had meant, but instead of protesting his point further, the celebi's lip began to tremble. He would never stick Mei out in a lightening storm! He protected Mei, he always had. Ever since he'd brought her home, he'd taken care of her. Didn't she remember? Had she forgotten how much he loved her? How he had worried about her when she'd run away at the beach after Urban had dropped her?

Didn't she know he'd protect and take care of Cecily the same way he had always protected her? Why did she act as if he wanted to kill her? "You're..." he began, sniffling. She'd changed! What had happened to his patient, understanding pet? She'd turned into a mean sister!

Mei didn't know what he meant she just knew how she was taking it. She huddled under the blanket with a soft mutter, not really saying anything, just grumbling. His talking though, that made her speak up. "I'm trying to take a nap. Please be quiet." she wasn't in the mood to argue anymore. So a nap was good as far as she was concerned

"Okay." Brenny said, leaving the room. He wiped at his eyes. He briefly wondered if Mei could be turned back into the pokemon she had been. She had been so much nicer then... And so much easier to talk to. But, then, he figured, that was selfish too. Jirachi must have sent the star to her for a reason.

Mei laid there so long she did fall asleep. but when she woke up she was still grumpy...and stayed laying there silently....and fell asleep again for a little longer. Not that it improved her mood any really. So, whatever. If Brenny was going to be stupid and try to force his sister into a situation she wouldn't be happy in, that was on him. If it killed his sister, well she'd warned him. She kicked at her blanket a little, feeling more than a little frustrated. Why was he so stubborn?! Why couldn't he realize he couldn't have his way all the time? Honestly!

If only Brenny had known her thoughts. Then he might have pointed out that he very rarely got his way. If he had had his way he and his sister wouldn't have been separated he wouldn't have had to search for her for months. He wouldn't have lost his best friend, mother figure and sister to this--new person who seemed to think he was the bad guy.

For Science!

Brennen was, perhaps oblivious that there was a laboratory nearby, but if he had known, he would have been even more interested in investigating the surrounding area. He'd decided to take the day to explore the woods--and had somehow gone far enough--either in or out, he wasn't quite sure, that he had stumbled upon a building. Once he had scoped the building out, he had spotted a man--a man he recognized from descriptions. He grinned. He broke out into a run, heading over to him. He wrapped his arms around Grayson's neck from behind. "Hi! I'm a legendary and I love you!"

While Grayson was not usually much for being a field researcher, as many of those that worked under him tended towards, there were still instances every once in a while where he was called out to do a bit of it on his own. As a scientist, such cases were quarantined to being within the city, as he couldn't stray too far from the base. He was one of the heads of the department, after all, so it wouldn't do to be missing for too long if he could help it. Karma insisted the fresh air would do him good, too, but he wasn't sure if the ditto-child was just saying that for truth or if it was because zhe wanted to leave the compound, too...
In this train of thought, thoroughly distracted, he hadn't noticed the quickened footsteps of the child behind him until the celebi-boy tackled the man; his brain short-circuited, cutting off what comprehension he would have had at Brennen's statement of introduction as he tried to keep himself from toppling over. "Doctor!!" Karma gasped at the strangely... amusing scene. Despite a tinge of worry, Karma took the opportunity to try to locate any mention of the glomp-happy bug-child within the ditto's scrawled notes.
"I heard you're a scientist!" Brenny exclaimed, releasing his hold on Grayson. His attention, however, landed on Karma, and the excitable celebi boy dashed over to her instead. "I don't know who you are," he observed. "They didn't tell me about you. But I'm Brennen! You can call me Brenny, and we can be friends. I thought since he studies pokemon he might be interested in meeting me!" Brenny paused, beaming as he looked back over to Grayson. "How do you study pokemon?" he asked. "Are you going to study me, are you? I'm a legendary. Come play with me!"
[6/15/2013 11:45:31 PM] MoogerMint Seishin: rayson sputtered, finally regaining his balance and straightening up his stereotypical white lab coat. "You... heard..?" he asked, words broken. He didn't understand, who was actually happy to see a scientist? He watched as the cheery celebi-child sped into view, directly for Karma, and it was then that Brennen's initial words finally hit their mark in his head. "Wh-What!? A celebi!?" he coughed, quickly attempting to locate his notepad in a coat pocket.

Karma sqeaked as Brenny closed so quickly in, dropping the zher own notebook without having located a thing. It was obvious that the boy was just excited, though, so the ditto was quick to relinquish such apprehension, especially when said boy was so eager to be friends. Really? Friends so soon? Karma hadn't met someone so quick to jump to such a conclusion, so was not about to shun such a request, "Okay, I'd love to be friends! Hi Brenny, I like that name. My name's Karma!" The ditto shuffled around, offering a hand to shake, "Oh, the doctor would love to study you, I have no doubt about that! But to tell you the truth... it might be kind of boring." Zher eyes narrowed slightly, as though giving Grayson a warning look.

The scientist had already found his notepad and was scribbling notes down when the questions came aimed at him. "Hm?" he peeked over the pad of paper, "Oh, um... if you don't mind, I'd like to?" He wasn't actually sure if Brenny would appreciate it, come to think of it... He blinked a bit in confusion, "Play..?"

"Yes, from Lucy! She told me you study pokemon and that sounded really boring so I decided to teach you a new way to study pokemon!" Brenny rambled, beaming as he looked back to Grayson. "You can't sit around and write all day," he said, shaking a finger at the man. "You have to play with pokemon, too, to really understand them!" It seemed logical. To Brenny, at least.

"Yay! Hi Karma! You have a pretty name! And you're pretty, too. I like your color." Brenny took her hand and shook it enthusiastically. "Now we're friends! Good! We can teach your Daddy how to study better. He's missing a lot of things by just sitting there," he gestured to the professor, shaking his head sadly. "It won't be boring now," he assured her.

He directed his attention back to Grayson. "Come on, come on! I'm a legendary! You want to study me! I'll stay still long enough for you to write if you can catch me! But if you can't, you have to study my way."

Grayson found it comical how quickly the celebi-child slipped into his role at directing the scene. "Ahh, Lucy; so you've met my Dea and her pokémon, have you?" he gathered, nodding as he understood, "And she didn't send you directly here?" No, he knew she wouldn't have had the time for it, but he playfully huffed about the situation anyway. He waved the notepad as it was referred to, sounding grumpy though it was obvious he wasn't, "But what if I forget to write something important down later? Can't I just watch you two play and take notes about it?" He was almost whining, as though he were a child debating with a parent. He used this tactic a lot on his children when they were growing up, and sometimes even on Karma.

Karma, who was just about to throw a shoe at the man. It was amusing, sure, but games tended to be more fun when more people were involved! Karma wiggled a little, blushing a bit, "You really think I'm pretty? Usually people just think I'm strange!" Not once could the ditto remember being called pretty. It was most likely because of the fact that zhe had no specific gender, but that didn't mean they had to forgo being as friendly as they were to everyone else! "You like pink?"

Karma gaped, flexing one hand while shaking Brenny's with the other, "Well, I like your color! It matches the forest out there!" Which he had just popped out of, come to think of it, "Do you live in the forest?" The child giggled, nodding in agreement with exuberance, "What game should we try to get him to play? He's gotta use his hands, or they'll just keep writing!" But zhe was quick to play along when Brenny attempted to coax Grayson out, "Tag?"

The scientist was not so quick to catch on, "Catch you? In what manner?" He was still on scientist-mode, and the thought gave rise to the question of whether Brenny even COULD be caught in a pokéball, now that he was transformed. He blinked at the thought, quickly scribbling down the testable theory.

"Nope! I was exploring my forest, and I must have gotten turned around. But I found you!" Brenny beamed. He put a hand to his chin, feigning thoughtfulness. "Hmm..." he hmmed, before smirking at the professor. "Then you'll just have to ask me what you forgot to write down. I know me best, so the best person to ask is me! I can tell you all about me, and being in the forest, and changing, and--" the celebi paused, his expression softening. "Don't worry, though," he said. "I won't let you forget anything really important. You can study all you like!"

His gaze fell back onto Karma, and he beamed at zher. "Yup! Prettiest I've ever seen!" He wasn't sure what Karma was, really, but He? She? was pretty. "I don't think you're strange," he said, frowning slightly. Strange wasn't a very nice thing to call someone! "I do like pink! My sister is pink. But I haven't seen her for a long time. She's a celebi too! But pink." The celebi boy hesitated, before shaking his head slowly. "I used to," he said. "But now I live in the city. I still visit almost every day! I miss it sometimes. Yeah, let's make him play tag! He has to catch me!"

"Come on, come play with us! Please? I'll even run slowly so you can catch me."

"Glad you didn't get too lost in there, in that case," Grayson pointed out, seeming to be a bit concerned, "How far are you from your home, anyway? I don't remember reading any reports of a celebi spotted in the area..." It hadn't occurred to the man that this was due to the fact that Brenny had only been 'in the area' since turning into a child, thinking that he would have stayed where he grew up. He frowned at the suggestion but... honestly, it was better than nothing. What better way to learn of something than experiencing it? "Ahh, so it would be like a documentary sort of interview? I suppose that could work..." he tapped a chin thoughtfully; there was no better way to get that sort of information, either! "You are quite the diplomatic child, if I do say so."
Karma wondered if the statement that Brenny was offering of the ditto-child's features were based off of little knowledge of others, but considering the celebi-boy's extroverted mannerisms, zhe could chance a guess that he probably knew more than zhe did. "Aww, you're making me blush, cut it out!" the blue-haired child giggled, "But being strange isn't so bad, either, so when people call me that, it doesn't upset me. Just means I'm different. I like being called pretty, though! Nobody's ever called me that before, it sounds nicer." Brenny was, indeed, nicer than a lot of the scientists that frequented the laboratory on a regular basis. "Oh really? She's pink?" Karma repeated, making the correlation as to why there was a 'pretty' link in there; the realization was actually quite flattering. "Well that can be fun, being able to live in the city and visit the forest every day. It would be like living in both places at once! Maybe you can go camping sometime, even!" Karma suggested with a slight gasp. Bouncing a little in excitement, the ditto urged Brenny to get a head start on zher 'old man' with a light poke in the opposite direction.

Grayson mulled it over, but he decided that the young celebi made a good plea for his case. He'd have to forgo some of the research he would normally do, but in return, would be able to gain more insight, more than he normally would with any regular pokémon research. "Okay, I will give it the old college try," he conceded with a light smirk; he hadn't played this game in YEARS, and wondered how rusty he was at it, "I'm comin' for ya!"

Brenny gave a giggle, racing--rather slowly, as promised, away from the scientist. "You can't catch me!" he exclaimed, turning to face him. He hoped Grayson would continue to play with them, even after they allowed him to win. It was fair that way, wasn't it? Grayson was much older than they were. He zipped right, and then left, giggling in delight. This was fun!

While Grayson's questions went unanswered, the chase's beginning was actually quite effective on spurring him to continue with the game, to get to the bottom of such queries. While eager to learn of this celebi-boy, he was also fully aware of how to handle children, and was not about to upset one if he had the chance. Despite what may have been outwardly obvious of the recluse, he was still very much the paternal figure in a number of lives. He was content to keep the game going until Brenny was satisfied, even if he was not the best at running... a fact made clear when he stumbled right out of the door, so to speak. Karma gasped slightly before the response was turned into a giggle, the child prancing backwards so zhe could face zher trainer, "Aha! So you've got two left feet!" The ditto kept distance between zher and Brenny, so they both were incapable of being caught at the same time.

"Oh shush, you," Grayson smirked, continuing the chase. He'd go after Brenny first, if only because he had been the one most eager to play with the man; Karma was merely goading him on so that he would let the celebi, the ditto's newfound friend, have as much fun as was possible while visiting.

Brenny let himself be caught--or rather turned and wrapped his arms around Grayson, giggling. "I win!" he exclaimed. Grayson hadn't caught him, he'd caught Grayson! Sure, that wasn't in the rules--but the celebi boy wasn't sure there was a rule book for tag. "You caught me," he informed the scientist, with another giggle. "Now what will we play?" He gazed up at Grayson hopefully. "Let's play 'Study Grayson'!" The celebi boy dashed off and picked up Grayson's clipboard. He took up the pencil and began to pretend to write observations, giving a convincing 'Hmmm...' every once in a while.

That was not an action Grayson had been expecting! He flinched mid-step, nearly stumbling once more in an effort to resist head-on collision. Luckily, Brenny seemed to know where to aim, and harm was easily avoided once Grayson managed to come to a full stop. Karma slid to a halt as well, bursting into a fit of laughter if only because of the expression that Brenny caused on zher trainer's face. "I caught you? I think it's the other way around!" he chuckled after the brief span of surprise had passed, patting the kid on the shoulder. He blinked at the next suggestion, curious to what the celebi meant by, "Study? What do you..?" He watched as Brenny answered Grayson's unfinished question with action, "Ahh. Make-believe."

Karma tugged at Grayson's lab coat, causing the scientist to relinquish it without thinking better. Gleefully, the ditto slipped it on, much too big for such a slim and diminutive figure, and hopped to stand next to Brenny. Glancing at the clipboard, Karma pretended to readjust a pair of invisible glasses on zher nose, "Doctor, what do you think?" Brenny now had himself a lab assistant!

"I think he's a very wild specimen," Brenny said, putting a finger to his chin in thought. He gave a giggle. "He looks lost though. Maybe we can catch him." He held up a rubber bouncy ball that had been painted to resemble a pokeball. He tossed it towards Grayson. "Missed!" he exclaimed, snapping his fingers in mock disappointment. "What kind of pokemon do you think he is?" he asked, glancing at Karma. "Do you think he's a legendary?"

"Hmmmm," Karma mimicked the celebi-boy, looking thoughtful and scrutinizing the amused man before the children, despite no further observations coming to mind. The ditto watched as Brenny pretended to throw a 'pokeball' at Grayson, leaning forward to watch only to have the ball bounce off a shoe and careen off at a ninety-degree angle. Snapping zher fingers, Karma tsked, "Rats! So close!" Grayson laughed at that, and pretended to try to be sneaking off. Karma gave him a wary glance, musing, "Well, he's definitely not one I've researched before. It's possible he's one-of-a-kind like that! We should tackle him to make sure he doesn't escape, so we can run more tests!" The colorful kid giggled mischievously, child-like behavior overturning the stoic scientist air zhe had been aiming for.

"Let's capture him!" Brenny exclaimed, racing towards Grayson. He wrapped an arm around one of the man's arms, giggling. "You have to help me hold him!" he called to Karma. "He'll escape if we don't work together! This is for science!" He paused, looking up at Grayson. He put on a thoughtful expression. "He's a very big pokemon," he observed. "I think he must be a legendary. Rarer than Celebi, Mew and Arceus put together!"

Karma pumped a fist into the air in response to Brenny's suggestion, excited about being able to capture zher own trainer like a trainer would a pokémon, "Alright!!" Zhe was quick on his heels, hardly needing direction before flinging zhimself at Grayson, tackling his stomach and pinning his free arm to his side, "Okay, I think I got 'im! For science! And for fun, hehe!" Indicating the scientist's size with a tap of zher head to his chest, Karma replied, "Or is he just a well-fed pokémon?" A sly smile appeared, referring to an alternate meaning of the term 'big.'

"Hey now, Karma," he warned with a smile. He feigned an attempt at wiggling free of their grasp, but gasped in defeat, "Alas, the great Grayson-mon has been captured!"

"Yay!" Brenny exclaimed. "We caught a well fed pokemon!" He was oblivious to what Karma was referencing. "So he must have a good home. I wonder if he has a family." He gasped. "I know! He's the pokemon we've been taking care of all this time! I was leaving bowls out for a pokemon, and this one must be that one! He's our pet!"

Karma giggled as Brenny went along with the idea of Grayson being well-fed, unaware that he didn't get that zhe was poking fun at the man. The grin didn't leave, knowing full well what sort of family the scientist had -- zhe was part of it, and felt that zhe was a good addition! While Karma was confused at first with Brenny's exclamation, the ditto quickly realized that zhe should still be playing the part of the scientist's apprentice and gasped as well, after a moment, "Oh you think so? Who would have ever guessed!" There was a giggle, a brief pause, and then Karma leaned over slightly to whisper, "Brenny... what's a pet?" Oh how curious!

Grayson sighed, remaining in his defeated frame of mind, "You caught me. It just smelled so good..." It had been ages since he had last pretended, in play, to be someone else, but he fell back into the role with little struggle.

"Oh is that what a pet is?" Karma gaped, wondering why they didn't use that term more often. Zhe liked the idea! Though the thought of considering him Karma's baby seemed a little awkward... zhe still viewed zhimself as a child without attachment and responsibilities on that frontier, and much preferred it that way! So friend it was. "Yaay, Grayson-pet!" the ditto chirped, squeezing the man's midsection, "These scientists will take good care of you for sure!"
Grayson chuckled, the thought of being the pet of his own pokémon and a legendary being a rather amusing one! But hey, he was in it this far, why not just continue to roll with it? Kicking at the toy pokeball, he managed to roll it a few paces away, "Catch!" Why yes, that was a lousy, er... 'throw.'

Both Grayson and Karma, still latched onto the scientist, watched Brenny move for the toy pokeball with curious interest. The ditto gaped as the ball was held aloft, then attention was turned back to the trainer-turned-pokémon, "Oh he does!" With a giggle, the colorful ditto-child released zher grip and hopped backwards to stand next to the celebi, "Play catch? Is that what we're playing now?" Rocking on bouncy feet on idle mode, Karma almost dropped the ball when it was passed to zher, fumbling with the sudden object.

It was difficult not to just keep snickering at Brennen's reactions, all the affection and all the exuberance. "I'm flexible in my ways of learning," he laughed, returning the hug to the small child with a one-armed pat on the back. He'd still prefer to do studying in his usual manner, sure, but he could always wait on that.

"Now you get to study me the way you want to," Brenny informed Grayson. A promise was a promise, after all. "You caught me and we played. So it's your turn to do what you like to do, even if my way's better." He handed Grayson his clipboard. "But afterward, you have to play with us again!"

Grayson shook his head and snickered, indicating that he thought Brenny's stand on his own way of learning was the best. "If it works best for you, then it's the best to you, huh?" he laughed, "That makes some sense, if you take that stance in life. I just learn best my own way is all." It was a means for him to teach Brenny a thing or two, in his own way, but he didn't know if it would be read as such. "Thank you, Brenny. If it isn't too late, I would be happy to play with you again, if that's what you want," he stated, grinning and readjusting how he held the clipboard to a more comfortable position, making it easier to write on, "Now Brenny, as a celebi, what can you tell me about yourself? Your habits, before you changed into your present form. What sort of things did you do? What abilities did you have, and how did they work? Can you still do them?"

"Doctor..." Karma needled, making sure the scientist realized when to back off on the bombardment of questions. Zhe already thought that was way too much!

Brenny thought for a long moment. "I lived in a clearing in the forest," he said, pointing in the direction of the clearing. "It's deep inside the forest and before Mariana showed up, I had never seen a human before. She taught me to draw. But before that, I--" the celebi boy hesitated. "I don't really remember," he confessed. "I was really young then. I hatched in early January. I mostly stuck to playing with my sister and searching for berries--there weren't any." The boy hesitated again, blinking. "I flew around a lot and played. I could fly and travel through time. At least, that's what I've been told. I never bothered to try... I haven't tried flying in this form, either."

Karma quietly cheered Brenny on for remembering all the questions; zhe sure wasn't sure zhe could have done similar! Grayson took the notes down, taking heed not to interrupt the boy for further probing information for fear of accidentally detracting from the boy's memory process. This was good information regardless, and he wanted to make sure he got it down. "I hadn't realized you were just a baby pokémon!" he blinked in surprise, once Brenny caught his breath, "You've already learned so much in such a short period of time, it's amazing! So it was just you and your sister, there were no other family members? And what happened to the one who was teaching you?"

Karma squinted, repeating the single word from before in a drawn-out manner, "....Doctor..." Brenny acted like his history was a bit of a sore spot, so he had to be careful not to probe too far for fear of hitting a wound not yet sealed! Eyes turning to the boy, Karma insisted, "Don't answer anything you don't feel comfortable answering, just tell him you'd rather not. He won't get mad."

"She stopped coming," Brenny said, frowning slightly. "I don't know what happened to her, but I know she abandoned her vanilite around the same time. I met with him and we were friends. I don't think celebi have parents," he added. "I've heard eggs appear deep in the forest, and that's what happened to us." He took a step backwards, away from Grayson at the question concerning his sister. "Right," he said. "Just me and her. She's a shiny celebi. I haven't had any contact with her since Daddy brought me to the city."

Grayson was jotting the notes down, but his hand slowed when Brenny's replies came more and more broken. Well that was cause for concern... He took a deep breath as he finished writing what was said before offering any insight into that matter, "It's possible she couldn't stay, not that she didn't want to. Depending on her line of work, or even family matters... things can get complicated." Not that he knew for sure... but Brenny was starting to get upset, even the scientist could see that in his body language, growing more tense by the question. He diverted the questioning to concern those of his current form instead of the form he was born in, "Did you come to the city by choice, then?"

Karma was feeding off the nervous energy as well, and fidgeted, knowing there wasn't much more zhe could do to help. To keep such nerves from getting too wound up, zhe pulled a piece of lime green string out and began tying it around zher fingers as zhe listened to the discussion carry on.

"I don't know," Brenny said, with a shake of his head. "The vanilite said she also had a deino, but couldn't tell me if the deino had also been abandoned. I certainly never found it." The celebi boy sighed. He had looked for Mariana, not to the extent of how he had searched for his sister, but he had hoped to find her for days. He was relieved when Grayson changed the subject, a smile quickly replacing the frown. "Yeah," he said. "I was alone, and it was cold," he gave a shiver at the thought. "I would've come anyway, even before I changed. But I changed before I came! Daddy brought me and he took care of me." He glanced over at Karma, and studied the string in her hands. That looked interesting! He wondered if she could teach him how to do that after Grayson was done studying him.

"Curious situation..." Grayson mused, hoping that Brenny's first human friend was still doing alright; it was worrisome, when someone disappeared like that without warning! However, he wasn't going to worry the celebi more than was necessary, so didn't speak of these verbally. He mirrored the smile as it was given, glad that Brenny was feeling more relaxed now, "Ahh, I would imagine you wouldn't have been so used to the changing of the seasons. Was it difficult to adjust to living here, or would you say you're fairly adaptable to change in living conditions?" Grayson could tell Brenny was starting to get restless, so he wanted to fully reassure the boy, "Last question for now, I think."

"Ack!" Karma hissed quietly, realizing zhe had tied a knot too tight around a pink-marked finger. The ditto began tugging it away, and luckily it slipped off without too much issue. Pouting, the ditto transformed an eye at the palm of zher hand to assess the damage, smiling when zhe realized the red mark was already almost gone. The child was fairly used to passing the time on zher own, but wouldn't mind sharing!

"I think I adjusted okay," he said. "It was easier to adjust with Daddy helping me. I learned a lot and I met a lot of people. And I've made a lot of friends," he added with a smile. "Like you and Karma. But I still like visiting the forest. I have two homes. And sometimes I hope I can find my sister. But I don't. I never do."

Grayson was glad to hear that! It was an expected response, to being adaptable at such a young and resilient age, but not one that wasn't sought. "I think your friends and family probably feel the same about you in return, if you are always this friendly," he stated matter-of-factly as he wrote the last of the data down and clipped the pen to the board, "I also think that it is good to broaden your horizons like that, learn from and in different settings to get a better scope of the world on a whole. It's good practice, and leads to better understanding. The world is a big place, but it doesn't go on forever. If you keep looking, and are diligent about it, I'm sure you could find whatever you set out to find." Standing up fully upright once more, he nodded, "But I think that's enough out of me. It's not fair to drill you with questions for too long a time!"

Karma busied zhimself attempting to keep a string-made Eiffel Tower intact on the one finger at the apex of the building, to no avail. "Rats..." zhe grumbled as it unraveled, unaware that the interview had concluded.

Brenny blinked up at Grayson for a long moment, before beaming at him. "Yay, studying is done!" he exclaimed, moving to Karma's side instead. "Let's play, Karma!" Oblivious to the fact that she'd just toppled the Eiffel Tower, he invited the ditto to play. "Your Daddy is going to play too, because he said after studying he'd play with us."

Ahh, he thought Brenny would be glad to hear that bit of news! "Yep, that's it for studying for now. Don't want to wear out my welcome too soon!" he laughed.

The string was now merely a loop of an oval hanging from Karma's index finger as the ditto glared daggers at it. The distraction was a welcome change, for zhe didn't really feel like recreating the lime green structure across zher fingers all over again in the span of such a short time. The child was quick to stash the string back into the confines of zher shoulder bag, a broad smile splaying across the ditto's face, "Okay! What are we playing this time?" Dual-toned eyes pivoted to the scientist, wondering what other tests the two children could perform on this full-grown man. Oops, zhe meant 'well-fed pet!'
"That's right, I promised that I would try to play with you some more once I was done with my notes," Grayson confirmed with a nod.

Lirilei
Mei and Brenny make up
(And find a new pet)

Mei had been ignoring Brenny for...how many days now? Two? Three? Something like that...and she was honestly tired of ignoring him. Missed talking to him...so she put her things on the bed...and went to go find him to apologize for getting so upset.

(Missing Post from Thali)

Mei had been anywhere but home when she could be, and once there...well she busied herself in other ways. It was easier than expected to ignore Brenny...though she was curious what he was up to....she'd seen him doing...something.

She heard him calling for her, about the time she sought him out, and gave a smile of relief. "A present? I don't deserve one for being so mad at you..."
Mei couldn't help but smile and hug Brenny back tightly, looking at the bear. "Did you make it yourself? It's really cute." it was! She smiled at him. "I'm not mad anymore..and I never should have been. I know you miss your sister. So we'll go find her together and talk to her. But no pokeballs. but we'll find out if she's happy where she is okay?"

"I did!" Brenny exclaimed, excitedly. "I made it all by myself. I made it for you, Mei!" So she'd like him again. It seemed to have worked, too! He paused, shaking his head. "No," he said. "I did miss my sister, but I've found her already." He hugged her again. "And I don't need any pokeballs to catch her, because she lives right with me!"

"It's so cute thank you Brenny." she hugged him again and smiled, listening to his words and nodded. "Well..if you're sure. I understand wanting her here...though here is getting kind of small these days..." there was so many of them there after all....if they grew bigger they'd all need to move out!

"I suppose you have a point there Brenny." well it was true...maybe. She didn't know not having met Cecily in the end. "I know you wouldn't Brenny. I was just upset but I shouldn't have said that anyhow. That was mean of me."
Brenny paused, and gave Mei another squeeze. "Let's never fight again," he said. "I don't like it. It makes me feel all alone, even if you're in the next room." He sighed. "I know," he said. "I just wanted to make sure you knew I loved you too much to ever do that to you. ...Besides, I'm scared of storms too. They cause fires and they ruin forests."

"Well I can't promise we won't fight again..but I'll try not to be so mean if we do..or ignore you for longer than say ten minutes okay?" she was giving him a teasing smile. Fights would happen she knew. Just hopefully not as badly! "The lightning scares me honestly.."

"We were both mean," Brenny said. "I won't be mean either!" He lowered his voice in a whisper, cupping his hand over his mouth and beckoning Mei closer. "I heard a monster under our bed last night! I couldn't sleep at all, it was so scary! I went out to the kitchen at ten, I think, and I got cookies for us. One for you and one for me. But I put the cookie for you down because you were sleeping, and something took it and went Munch crunch munch crunch!"

"I haven't heard anything under the bed, and Eliot hasn't mentioned anything..." she looked puzzled and looked towards their room. "Go get some cookies? I'll go look under the bed..."

Brenny went out into the kitchen and got a plate out of the cabinet before filling it up with cookies. He wondered if the monster would come out during the day. Maybe it was Eliot pulling a prank on him! ...But no, Eliot had been asleep too. "Are you sure this is safe?" he asked, when he got to their room. He offered her the plate of cookies. "What if it decides we're tastier?"

"Sit up on the bed...or go sit with Eliot while I see what's under here." she set the plate of cookies up on the bed and snagged one as she dropped down to her stomach and lifted the dust ruffle trying to see what was at the back. There was...something. The cookie was held out curiously. Maybe it was a toy...

Brenny climbed up onto the bed and peered down at Mei curiously. "Do you see it?" he asked. "Is it a monster? Should I call Daddy and tell him?" The 'Monster' in question bounced its way out from under the bed and with a kurfluffle-meep sound, it took the cookie from Mei's hand and began to eat.

"See!" Brenny exclaimed. "I told you there was a cookie eating monster!"
"I see...something. Maybe it's just a toy..or some ones missing pillow case..." she couldn't tell really. It was when she heard the noise she knew it was something...the fact the cookie was being eaten from her hand was starling! She reached up for another and held it closer to herself. "No...Connie doesn't need to be bothered...I don't think it's a monster..."

"Oooh." Brenny stared with wide eyes down at the fluff. "Mei, give it another cookie! Look, it's like the top of a muffin! It's all fluffy! ....What is it? Is it a pokemon?" He sat down beside Mei, offering the fluff a cookie. "It's okay, Muffin. You like cookies, huh? Mei, can we keep him?"

Mei kept luring the fluff out with cookies until it was out from under the bed and she gently patted the top of it's head. "I don't think it's a pokemon no...I've never seen anything like it....I think if it stays like this we can keep it...if it does do like the rest of us though...there's just not enough room..."

Brenny beamed. "Not a pokemon?" he echoed, grinning. "Good! If it's not a pokemon, then it won't change like you or Eliot, and if it doesn't change like you or Eliot, then we can keep him! Let's name him Muffin, Mei. Because he lookis like a Muffin. And Daddy will like him. And you like him, don't you?"

"Muffin it is...and he...or she is very cute." she smiled and motioned to the plate of cookies. "Hopefully it likes something more than cookies though. Too many sweets can't be good for it...but then not knowing what it is...maybe it's a cookie monster..."
