As soon as Deidre was away, Melrose wasted no time in wiping her mouth. She spat with disgust and glared past stray strands of red at the empty space Deidre once stood. Hearing a mixture of hoots and chuckles, the witch turned her head and saw a few flying monkeys perched on a cracked glass tree, trying hard to contain their laughter as they stared at her. Raising an eyebrow, the witch followed their gaze and gasped at the sight of her upper body's unmentionables revealed. Turning red more from anger than from humiliation, the witch covered her body with one arm and outstretched the other to where the city still remained intact, Melrose screeched out Deidre's name with fury and venom dripping in her voice, a voice so cruel and enraged that it made the army of flying monkeys stop their search and begin simply destroying the city. Meanwhile, Trenton held Dorothy in his arms, panting quietly as his ears twitched from the ruckus outside. He had no doubts that the city would meet its demise by the end of the day, and though it was a sight the city was used to, he still felt pity for its people. Looking back down at Dorothy - or at least facing where her voice came from - he held her tighter. "It's okay," he whispered reassuringly. "I'm here. I'll protect you." As he held her, he couldn't help but wonder where that cocky cyborg was.

Kissing the fabric once, he stuffed it into his jacket and continued on, making his way into the forest. It wouldn't take long until the girl and her pets found their way in after him. The girl curled into his side, burying her head into his shirt and closing her eyes tightly. "How can you protect me when you can't even see where we are?" she mumbled against his chest, her tone betrayed by the growing wetness on his shirt. The thief was crying from fear, and she couldn't stop it.

Still enraged, the witch screamed orders at her pets, sending them to hunt Deidre instead of search for Dorothy. She could always find that brat later. Feeling the tears against his body, Trenton couldn't help but hurt. He stroked her hair gently and rested his chin atop her head. "Just because you can't see doesn't mean I can't either." he lied. He couldn't see in the dark, but his senses helped him much more than how Dorothy could.

"Y-you mean, you c-c-can see?" she muttered, tilting her head up to "look" at him. Gathering her courage, she gripped his shirt tighter and licked her suddenly dry lips. "Then...then stop me if you want to. I can't do this if I can see you...but in the dark...maybe I can." Suddenly, she leaned up and pressed her lips to his, eyes shut and on her tiptoes.

Trenton could feel Dorothy's warm breath grow warmer as the grew closer. His own breathing quickened in pace as did his heart as he realized what she was trying to do. His lip was quivering from nerves, but he wouldn't protest her approach. Before their lips could make contact, right as he was sure he could practically feel hers, the doors of the basement shuddered, the shrill shriek of a monkey accompanying it. Trenton quickly pulled away and looked to where the doors were, his grip on Dorothy protective as when they were confronted by Melrose. He looked at the shuddering door, fearing that they had been discovered, but the door quickly stopped shaking and the monkey's cries grew distant. It had most likely just landed there and flew off to its next destination. After a few breathless moments, Trenton lifted his ears and focused on the sounds outside. The screeches had gone, same as the sound of buildings being shattered. Hesitantly did the inu let go of Dorothy and reach to the doors, opening them as slowly as possible. He peered out cautiously, and when nothing jumped out to surprise him - albeit a piece of the porcelain ceiling that fell off and hit the ground - he climbed out and stepped out of the remains of the teacup. "Oh god..." he breathed as he stood limply out of the building, taking in his surroundings. The monkeys had gone, but the entire city was destroyed.

Dorothy gasped, covering her mouth in horror. Resin crept forward, sniffing a piece of porcelain. "Resin knows this place, yes we do. We used to come and visit with Resin's mommy and daddy. Are...are they alls dead?" The madman started to tear up, curling and crying. The teen moved forward, taking Resin's hand and hugging him close. "I'm so sorry, Resin...I'm so sorry..."

Trenton wandered a few feet away, gently pushing aside shattered remains of glass with his foot. "No... They can't be dead." he said slowly, unsure of whether he was telling Resin that or himself. "Chinatown always broke, especially during a storm." he said, recalling having broken a building himself when he was a kid. Purely an accident, of course. "They can't all be dead.... can they?"

As she comforted Resin, Dorothy sat on the ground. Once she touched the ground, she let out a small cry and stood right back up. Resin picked up what she sat on and held it up to her. The girl took the shard and gazed at it, before she realized, in true horror, what it was. "Trenton...look at this."It was the hand of a small chinagirl.

Turning at the sound of Dorothy's scream, Trenton was almost tempted to chuckle at the scene she made. He would've, too, had it not been for what she was holding. Curious, he wandered towards her and peered down at the object in her hands. His eyes widened when he recognized it. "Oh no..." he whispered and looked around, wondering just how many people suffered from the Witch's ambush. "She's gone too far this time..." the inu snarled, clenching his fist in rage. He was so furious about what the Witch had done, but he wasn't as angry with her as he was with himself for only hiding when he could have helped families hide. How many people could have survived with his help?

Turning to him, she leaned and set her forehead on his chest, closing her eyes and trying not to try. "Trenton, I...I can't deal with this anymore. We need to hurry and get to the Wizard, before anyone else dies." Looking up at him with brown eyes edged in tears, Dorothy couldn't suppress the tremors overtaking her body. "No more wasting time. We have to...we have to..."

Mayah Playah You want me to play the Wizard when they finally meet him? And what about Glinda? With Dorothy against him, Trenton quickly calmed himself down and sighed, resting a hand on her head comfortingly. "He'll fix this." he promised, remembering the legends about the Wizard. "He's... He's got to." Looking up, Trenton moved away from the girl and pushed aside more shattered remains of the glass city until remnants of the yellow road showed. "Here's the road," he muttered under his breath then looked up to see where the road could lead them to. "But where's Deidre?"

Awesome nerd Glina doesn't come back into the story until the end, and sure, you can be the wizard. Ooh, and the lion. When's he popping up?

Mayah Playah He's next, just as soon as I find a place for the group to go next. Any ideas? His ears straightening when he heard the familiar voice, Trenton spun around and saw him trying to warm Dorothy up. Seeing her shiver like that made the inu feel bad, and his ears lowered to the side of his head to emphasis it. He had been so horrified by what had happened to Chinatown, he completely forgot about her lack of clothing. "It should be around Resin." he answered and looked over at the crying lunatic.

Awesome nerd It's gotta be a forest of some kind The Tin Man looked over to Resin, then sighed. "Resin. Heel."The madman nodded and crawled over, leaning on Deidre's leg and chewing on the shirt. "Are you going to be alright?" he asked, zipping up the jacket around Dorothy and setting a hand on Resin's head. The childlike lunatic nodded, and Deidre sighed once more. "We need to find somewhere to sleep for the night. We aren't going to reach the Emerald City any hour soon, anyway. Besides, Dorothy needs to change into something less...drooly, and Resin needs to rest. We need him as sane as possible tomorrow if we're going to go by the King of the Beast's domain."

Mayah Playah I've got it! I'll post first Taking the time to think, Trenton looked over at where the yellow road traveled and to all the areas it branched off to. He saw a forest, and through it he saw parts of what could've been a castle. "How about Glinda's Castle?" he suggested. "She usually has it open for people in need, even when she's not around." He turned back to the group. "And I'm sure she'd be more than happy to rent out a room for the girl that got rid of one of the Wicked Witches."
