Sooner or later they were going to get him off of his martyr throne. Tassy of course looked ready to smack him aside the head had he not already been in pain. "If our flat didn't have stairs I'd force you back there so you could lay on the bloody couch but we're not going to force you into that. Yet. I saw a small snack bar around the corner, we'll go there." She took one arm on his right side while her twin took the other, albeit gentler, and both led him out of the museum. She'd learned about Britain in school, of course, but this was a muggle museum. She knew much more about British wizards than British muggles. And since muggles were extremely interesting to her, the museum was where she found herself. She was alone, but she didn't mind. The silence was nice. It was almost comforting, the way her footsteps echoed and faded away, and the solid stillness in the air seemed...safe. Like this was a refuge from the hectic world. And in a way, it was. Muggle London was confusing, and Ned had gotten lost several times. She couldn't apparate in plain sight, so that was out of the question, and there were so many roads and alleys and side streets...It was ridiculous, really. She was surprised she even managed to find the museum. But she was glad she had. mood: calm company: none location: British Museum

A blonde girl dressed in the uniform of one of the many prep schools of London-Queen's to be technical- paused near the Rosetta stone to have what looked like a short conversation with some Chinese tourists who appeared to be looking for a specific exhibit. While the girl was obviously British and blonde she apparently was fluent enough to get the group where they were going. She smiled, happy to help, and looked back at the Rosetta stone and then the various Egyptian artifacts nearby. That was when she noticed the older girl seeming a bit out of her element but enjoying the peace of the museum. Another tourist? Cathy wondered. It was funny to Cathy that her parents were so relaxed about her coming and going as long as she was home before it got too late considering how big London was. Then again, Cathy's places of interests were fairly predictable-the museums and the libraries and sometimes the book shops. When she was younger she used to have to have a nanny to go out all the time but over time they just set a curfew around 7:30 and gave her a cell phone and had her just text them if she wasn't going straight home.

ɛʟʊռɛɖ ƈʀɨֆȶօɮɛʟ ɦɛɨֆȶ ɖʊʀʍֆȶʀǟռɢ ɢʀǟɖʊǟȶɛ ֆɛʋɛռȶɛɛռNed heard rapid conversation in what sounded like one of the Asian languages, Mandarin, maybe, she couldn't be sure, and curiously turned to see who was speaking it, hearing the accent to the words. o her surprise, it was a young girl in a muggle school uniform, with big brown eyes and blonde hair. Ned wondered where the girl's family was. She seemed a bit young to be wandering about by herself, but then again her own siblings were free to do what they pleased. Spar was hardly controlling. She gave the girl a long look. Clearly this was not your average... how old could she be, ten? Either way, a little girl who could speak a foreign language fairly fluently wasn't exactly common. Not wanting to be seen as weird, Ned quickly averted her open gaze and turned her attention to a sarcophagus. mood: calm - company: a young girl nearby - location: British Museum

Cathy felt a buzz in her pocket from her phone and picked it up and glanced at it to see a text from the receptionist at her father's office: apparently her Dad was going to be later with surgery than planned and it was a reminder that her mother had a physical therapy appointment after work. It also asked if she needed anyone called over to get her dinner or dinner called in. Cathy sighed, rolling her eyes, honestly she felt in some ways she was just as good of a cook as her mother for some things. Besides Miss Tsui yesterday had left leftovers. She quickly typed a response as she glanced over to Ned who looked a little guilty by a sarcophagus. Cathy had sensed someone stare at her a moment earlier, but then again a blonde girl speaking Mandarin wasn't exactly the norm. Especially one dressed in a London school uniform. Cathy placed the phone back into her pocket and joined Ned at the sarcophagus and said quietly with a polite but genuine smile, "Hieroglyphs are interesting, but I think my interests fall elsewhere. Regardless, the London Museum does have a remarkable collection of Ancient Egyptian artifacts if that is your interest." Cathy sort of felt like an idiot because, honestly, the girl might be a tourist and not fluent in English: While English was widely taught in most countries and known by many and they were in London, it was a tourist attraction, and she felt it was ignorant to assume her mother tongue took prescience over all others. It was why she helped the others, she had overheard their discussion, and while it was likely they knew a fair amount of English it was probably more comfortable for the family to speak in their mother tongue.

She'd been so focused on pretending to be engrossed with the artifact she hadn't noticed Cathy. The polite, mature smile caught her off guard on the child's face. It was so... adult-like, as were her words. She certainly didn't sound like most school girls. It took her a moment to process the words and respond. "Ancient Egypt is not my interest, per say. But it certainly is fascinating; I think all past civilizations are." she replied, glancing at the girl. "Are you here on a school trip?" she asked, nodding towards the girl's uniform. She'd worn one just recently, before she graduated from Durmstrang. It had been a lot warmer, as the weather was much colder where she'd gone to school, even if it was chilly here. mood: calm - company: a young girl nearby - location: British Museum

Cathy chuckled with a smile at Ned's answer and said, "School is already out for the day, but I like to go here when I have the free time. It is one of my favorite places in London. And, I agree about past civilizations, that is why I chose to learn Latin first. I'm debating about Ancient Greek after I finish my current project."Her brown eyes studied the sarcophagus and she said, "Unfortunately, museums often profit from robbing the home countries of their past civilizations' treasures. I think it is kind of sad, even if millions of people are able to learn and see things they never would have been able to learn about or see otherwise."She glanced over at Ned, "Sorry, I did not introduce myself: I'm Cathaline or better yet Cathy." She purposely did not use her last name: it was something she had learned at an early age, as a precaution, if you come from a richer family especially being the daughter of probably the best paid plastic surgeon in London it wasn't wise to use her last name. She cocked her head to the side and said with a smile, "Should I leave you be then? I would hate to interrupt your enjoyment of the museum."

ɛʟʊռɛɖ ƈʀɨֆȶօɮɛʟ ɦɛɨֆȶ ɖʊʀʍֆȶʀǟռɢ ɢʀǟɖʊǟȶɛ ֆɛʋɛռȶɛɛռNed nodded. "Ah. I see. You're a very serious girl. When I was your age..." she struggled to remember. "I was probably not thinking about learning Ancient Greek, that I know for sure." This girl was most definitely not ordinary. She was obviously very bright, at least where languages where concerned. The way she spoke was more mature than Ned's own grasp of the English language, and where she was from English was usually not primarily spoken, though most people knew it. Ned's eyes returned to the sarcophagus. "Well, Egypt still has its pyramids and Greece its parthenons. Sad, but also lucky that we are able to see these things here. This museum is amazing." The older girl smiled. "It's very nice to meet you, Cathy. I am Eluned." She grimaced. "Or, as you say yourself, better yet Ned. I'm not terribly fond of my name. Ned is far simpler and easier to say, even if I am commonly mistaken for a male judging from my name alone." Cathy had not given her last name; Ned saw no reason to give hers. They had met just minutes earlier, there was no reason to concern themselves with surnames. She shook her head at the girl's query. "Oh no. You are more than welcome to stay. I got lost several times getting here, in fact. My family recently moved here, so I'm trying to get a sense of where things are." mood: calm - company: Cathy - location: British Museum

"Me, serious? I never really considered it," Cathy said with a shrug. "Besides if you think I'm serious you should meet my big brother. Ah, but he is away at school. He left this year... something about wanting to go to the same boarding school as father did is the story Mum and Dad said." She sighed, seeming unhappy by the prospect but continued her smile returning, "And learning languages is just an interest. I mean of course I am interested in doing something with languages in the future, but learning languages is more of a hobby for me right now. If I actually focused on only that sort of thing I probably would be much farther by now."Still smiling she said with a bit of a laugh, "However, unlike my brother I actually believe in having a life outside of studying all the time.""So, did you get lost several times here in the museum or here in London? Both are quite confusing in their own right," Cathy said. "I am quite familiar with both. I visit here often enough and I've lived in London all my life. Come to think of it I don't think I've actually ever been outside of the city..." She paused as if the thought struck her momentarily as odd: it was the pause of someone who almost knew as if something didn't add up completely but knew better to question it. She then quickly changed the subject, "You said your family and you just moved here? Where are you originally from?"

ɛʟʊռɛɖ ƈʀɨֆȶօɮɛʟ ɦɛɨֆȶ ɖʊʀʍֆȶʀǟռɢ ɢʀǟɖʊǟȶɛ ֆɛʋɛռȶɛɛռNed smiled. "I have two brothers. Spar and CJ. Spar is older and CJ is around your age." She felt a little sorry for Cathy; being an only child for now couldn't be much fun. She'd always had her siblings. Even when she was away at Durmstrang, she'd had Timmy with her, as her sister was only a year older. She glanced down at the girl. "A hobby, hm? It's a very good hobby. They say the younger you are, the easier it is to learn things like languages. I speak Norwegian, Swedish, some French- I sound horrible though, Danish, and a little bit of Russian and German, and of course I speak English." She shrugged. "I had to learn those languages, and I certainly didn't do it for fun. You have a gift." She was lucky to have such a talent, it would serve her well in the future.
The Heist chuckled. "Both, I'm afraid. This city is like a maze to me, and this museum is quite large." She looked at Cathy curiously. "Never? In your whole life? Then you must know this place like the back of your hand." she mused. The question caught her off guard, this child certainly was inquisitive, and Ned couldn't blame. She'd be too. "Europe," she answered vaguely, and then gave a small smile, almost as if she were joking. "I went to boarding school in Norway. I graduated just recently. We all were sent away to school, it's a... family tradition, I suppose. My parents passed away recently, and it seemed time for a fresh start, so... we moved here. It's very nice. Different... and I do get homesick sometimes... but nice." There. Not exactly a lie but not exactly the truth either. It was all she could give to this girl, anyways. mood: calm - company: Cathy - location: British Museum

"Ah, but you know more languages than me," Cathy said with a smile. "I only know English, of course, Latin, French, and can only speak Mandarin. I am still working on mastering reading Chinese, I've got simplified down but traditional is a bit more challenging. I hate to move on to another language until I am fully fluent in the language I was learning before. I hate to use dictionaries or struggle over words so..." She ended with a shrug and a smile. "I know a fair part of London like the back of my hand, but like any city there are places it is smarter to avoid," Cathy said with a shrug. "And I know my brother David and my parents leave sometimes to see the extended family. The one good thing about my mother's accident was that during Christmas this year we all got to stay in London for the entire break when David was off."Cathy looked over at Ned and said politely regarding the girl's loss of parents, "I'm sorry for your loss of parents. That must be tough."

She wasn't much for history, but really, this place was more art that history, and she loved art. Actually, art history was about the only sort she cared for... mostly because she loved studying movements and learning about the rules of those movements so she could break them. She liked to think her work spoke for itself... but she was only thirteen, after all. She had a lot to learn. Which was probably why she loved the museum so much. After all, what better way to learn about art than to spend a day staring at it, studying it, finding the nuances in it. If any of her friends saw her here, she'd probably flip. After all, she had a reputation to uphold... well, except maybe with Jer. She didn't really see any reason to lie to him about it. Then again, her reputation didn't much matter where he was concerned; still she doubted very much if she'd run into him in a place like this. Firstly, he'd probably be bored out of his mind, and secondly, he'd have to get there. She didn't know much about his family life (he didn't talk about it much), but somehow she doubted she'd be seeing him around muggle London, in a museum of all places... She approached a cultural exhibit, smiling. Anyone who said art didn't matter or wasn't worth pursuing clearly never bothered to take a look at the exhibits in a place like this. Hundreds of years from now, when the current culture was all but extinct, art would be how people looked back on it. It would be what the historians of the future used to look back and learn about the way people of the 2020's lived. Looking around, the large majority of what she saw were shards of pottery, scraps of cloth, cave paintings... all forms of art in their own way. She smiled. She rarely felt so at home...

She blinked. What was Jer doing here? She loved the guy, really she did, but art was not his thing. Not really. He might like her paintings (or maybe he just said he did to be nice), but it wasn't his thing. She wouldn't have thought he even owned a sketchbook. She approached with a befuddled smile, poking his shoulder. "Oy! Jer, what're you doing here?" She plopped down on the bench next to him, eyeing the sketchbook... and had to bite back a wince. That would be soooo offensive... but the sketch was really, really bad! She fought to keep from snickering at him, noticing how very frustrated his expression was. The deep green of her eyes flashed blue for a moment. What was going on? Looking him over... well, the face was Jer, but... that was pretty much it! His posture, his clothes, everything was... weird. Not the Jer she knew. She felt like she was sitting next to a stranger, almost.
spaceThe young witch found herself in a most peculiar situation... she knew her best friend. She knew him well enough to know his face... and well enough to know that no matter how much this guy's face looked like Jer's, it could not be Jer. So, she found herself in a strange predicament... trying to figure out either why Jer seemed so very much not like himself, or to figure out how it was possible for another boy to look so very, very much like him. She blinked, glancing at the sketchbook again. Well, the art was about the quality she'd expect from her friend. Maybe... he was here with his family, and he was different with them? But that seemed a bit far-fetched. A person couldn't just not be themselves. It was how her parents always caught her when she changed her face and wandered off... try as she might, she couldn't change how she walked, how she sat, how she moved. And this guy didn't move like Jer... not that she'd really seen him move, but still. "... You're not Jer, are you? I'm sorry. You... you look weirdly like my best friend." The normally brash Ravenclaw blushed, something she did so little she swore she could count the number of times on her fingers. Well, this was embarrassing. She'd just practically accosted a total stranger, then! It was a good thing she'd been so confused about running into Jer at such a place, because if she hadn't, she'd have attacked him with a hug, which would've been far, far worse.
