While Shun might have thought it was comforting to tell her working for the family could make him stronger it really did quite the opposite. It made her worry all the more that he was just going to put himself into more danger and a harsher environment. And for what? Because he didn't know what else to do? Mitsu herself didn't know what to with herself anymore but it didn't mean she was going to fall back on being a labrat because that's all she knew she was good for.
As he apologized Mitsu shook her head again, he wasn't weak. He was being too hard on himself as usual. The hunter's were just too much for any of them to handle. They trained specifically to track them down and either kill them or weaponize them.
Feeling herself being moved, Mitsu tilted her head up, her cheeks visibly streaked with tears. She looked worried all over again because it seemed like Shun wanted to do something and right now. Sitting up quickly she pointed back toward the bed trying to make her face look stern but with the tears she mostly just looked upset. She didn't want him to leave he needed to rest and recover.

She wasn't saying much. Verbally or with sign language. Though, Shun could see that her face was streaked with tears now. He couldn't really keep her from crying it seemed. Taking in a deep breath, he reached up to carefully wipe those tears away, or try to.
"Please don't cry.." he said very quietly. He peered deeply into her eyes, then sort of slumped down a bit. He didn't get up any further, but he remained seated for now, leaning heavily on his knees.
"Sometimes.. I wonder if the only good thing that's come out of attending this school... is having met you.."
It certainly didn't feel like it had really strengthened him all that much.

Closing her eyes she rested her head in his hand as his fingers rose to brush away the tears. Her own hand came up to rest against his, holding him in place as he continued to speak.
He never thought himself good enough but Mitsu was certain it wasn't because he wasn't stronger. No, Mitsu thought he had grown quite a bit even after coming here but Shun had been trained that even little mistakes were a weakness. He could fight someone ten times and lose once and consider himself not good enough because he didn't succeed all ten times. She hated to see the self doubt that he had and it wasn't exactly a motivator to getting over her own doubts and fears. Besides, her own encouragement that what he thought wasn't true never seemed to be enough.
'Please rest.' Mitsu pulled away her hand so that she could sign. 'And try not to think so down on yourself. It's not true.'

Feeling her hand pull away, he looked towards her and read what she signed to him. He lingered where he was a little longer, thinking it over. Despite everything, she still believed in him. Then again, it was what he did for her. He had trouble seeing it in himself, however. A life of harsh training made it difficult for him to not see weakness within himself.
"Do you really think so?" he whispered.

'I know so.' She signed without hesitation.
'You focus too much on your failures but you hardly give notice to the things you succeed in.' She reached out toward him to press lightly against his shoulders to get him to lay back down. At least it didn't look like he was going to go anywhere but she wanted him to rest after such an ordeal.

Shun let out a heavy sigh at that. She wasn't wrong on that part. He didn't struggle against her as she gently pushed him back down onto the bed so that he was laying once more. At least his wounds weren't as bad as they were when he first received them. That talon in the back of Candace's heel was certainly a vicious one.
"Alright.." he said quietly. Though he was still thinking things over. He obviously still wasn't too happy with how things had gone down.
"I.. do still need to improve though. Everyone does.." he added. He still couldn't entirely shake the feeling that he was far behind, but even then, he hoped that Mitsu agreed that there was always room to grow.

Mitsu nodded. 'Just don't lose sight of the things you do well. It's good to want to improve but you can be obsessive about it.' It was true, everyone had something they worked on striving to improve and get better at. The feeling was natural to want to work harder and change otherwise people would be the same from the time they were born. She just didn't want Shun to get lost in the need to get stronger like he had before. It was one thing to push himself and another to push himself well beyond his limits and think it was helping.
'I'm scared though.' Mitsu admitted. 'The hunters are still close.' They were like a haunting nightmare. Always lingering on the edge of reality waiting to strike. She felt nervous about leaving the room again, scared of running into a hunter or worse the haunted house on her own.

Shun watched her carefully so that he could get everything she was trying to sign to him. Her voice must still be out from earlier and all.
"I'll try," he whispered, before furrowing his brow as she admitted that she was scared. Though, it was to be expected. After what they had done to her, he couldn't blame her to be worried. Reaching out, he placed a hand onto her. He would have pulled her close, but that would make seeing her hands a little difficult.
"I will do whatever I can to make sure they won't get you.... or me for that matter. They are a threat... but we also need to keep pushing on. I won't let them make me live my life in fear of them... And neither should you. As hard as that might be," he said quietly. He was at least thinking a little more clearly now that he wasn't as upset. He paused for a moment, realizing one thing.
"I guess I almost did let them rule my life in a way... but you pulled me back."

If he would try that was all she could ask for. She didn't want him to lose sight of the things he had accomplished and the deeds he had done. Especially the good ones. He had helped a lot of people besides her. To think of those accomplishments as nothing would only mean that the problems he helped solve were nothing when that wasn't the case.
His words were reassuring enough just knowing he was going to look out for her. Hunters posed a big threat but she knew nothing would happen to her without a fight. It was just difficult to be completely without fear. Too much had happened to pretend she wasn't afraid. Shun's confession was surprising though. It was like he was starting to realize part of her fear.
Smiling slightly Mitsu placed a hand on his arm. Slowly her reaper was changing the way he saw things. It made the worry she held close to her heart lessen a little.

Seeing her smile again brought a soft one to his own lips. He took her hand into his own, then removed his eyepatch in the time being so he could relax a little more.
Just as he was about to settle down and close his eye, he remembered something.
"Ah... I should check on that pudding.."

Mitsu made a face at the mention of pudding but then remembered one key fact. They were no longer guarded. Now that Shun was back, safe, and...mostly in one piece her mind was free to focus on other things. Mostly pudding consumption. He said that if she could get a cup on her own she could have it. He didn't say the knife had to be there.
Her intent was clear as her eyes brightened, her head turning toward the desk and the refrigerator. The lycan tried not to make any sudden movements but stood fluidly from the bed ready to run for the desk to retrieve her treats.

Mitsu seemed pretty excited for a moment there. And... he soon recalled why. His daggers had been standing guard. There were no blades holding her pudding hostage. His eye widened for the moment, and he turned his head to eye the fridge area.
And then he shadowstepped.
"I got it," he breathed out as he was now suddenly right next to the desk and mini fridge, though he was leaning against the furniture as he moved a little too suddenly.

Oh cruel fate to give her a fiance with such an ability. Mitsu continued to make her way to the desk none the less. He hadn't summoned his blades he was merely there and looking a little wobbly. If she acted fast enough maybe she could snatch a pudding and run.

Shun saw that expression and is reply to that was simply.

Which was pretty much his default expression anyway. She was still approaching though. Slowly, as he kept his good eye on her, he began to reach for where he kept his kitchen knife in the drawer. He was trying to be stealthy about it. See if he could... slip it onto the desk without her noticing.
"Now now. You aren't supposed to have any pudding unless you breach your fear," he said.

'You said I could have a cup if I got it on my own.' Mitsu pointed out. She was trying to make a play on words much like she had tried to with the coffee cup. The only problem was Shun didn't give in easily just because he didn't word his sentences without loop holes.
She approached slowly though, cautiously, expecting him to summon his daggers at any moment and cut her off. Just one pudding that was all she wanted. Just. One.
