The young woman made her way away from the Shiny Egg, smiling slightly to herself. This clutch...it intrigued her. There were so many strong personalities, and she only had three eggs left to allow her hand to touch. Sighing quietly, she made her way for the next one...another plain looking egg that seemed to not really catch the eyes. Slowly, she stood in front of the Ovate Egg, that silvery gaze turned down to stare at the shell. Maybe this one would give something more intriguing. Her fingertips slowly touched the dulled shell, and she felt...that absence. Seikih's full lips pulled down into a deep frown, and she knelt where she'd been standing. She moved slowly, so as not to disturb the gold femme who watched the scene. It felt so...apathetic. As though if there were a creature within, it couldn't be bothered with her or anyone else...or anything really. It was at least something that Seikih could understand. Though she wasn't the sort to put her duties aside, she wasn't much one to be bothered with people.

Jadros moved to the Tropical egg, feeling more confident this time than he had been the last when it came to reaching out and giving the egg a light touch. This egg didn't feel any different from the other egg, as far as contact was concerned, but its feelings were entirely different. How much he was learning! he had never imagined such vast differences could come from beings who hadn't yet experienced anything of the world around them. How could they already have such distinct personalities? It was amazing, as far as the former harper was concerned.

He would never be able to find something like this boring, even if he had to touch every egg from now until he aged out of being able to stand. He would always find the experience as exciting, he suspected, because he now understood that touching each and every egg would be a different experience.

This egg wanted more, but Jadros had nothing to give it. He couldn't imagine what it was going to do once it hatched. Smiling, happy with the progression of events, and his surprising lack of mucking things up, he moved quickly onto the next egg. It wasn't that he didn't want to give each egg an appropriate amount of time, he was just an eager sod.

The sound of chatter upon the sands caught within the tall brunette’s ears and made her bottom lip pull taunt, some people were just so inconsiderate and rude then again most of the other candidates were already finishing with their rounds and she was barely getting started. Casting a sideways glance towards the egg that the ovate rested upon Quindrife decided to show her respect to the supportive Tropical next, she wasn’t one that chose the easy route however there was something compelling about the brightly painted shell that beckoned to her.

Long digits extended with a tremble then firmly presses against the outer surface of the hardening ovum, the confine was smooth and warm to the touch but it wasn’t the physical sensation that the girl was concentrated upon. The foreign feeling that pushed against her brought a great sense of relief over the willowy brute, unlike its sibling it made itself known. Tugging disappointment probed at her, the dragonet within seemed to crave something a bit more than just her touch but as things were it was the only thing that she could spare. ‘You’re doing a good job of protecting your brother,’ the masculine term left her mouth without thought as she referred to the ovate egg as male. ‘or sister, she mentally corrected, not meaning to offend the unborn hatchling or its clutchmates. ‘Either way, good for you, maybe when you show yourself whatever it is you are wanting will be given to you. Until later, stay strong little one.’

Drawing away from the tropical and ovate eggs Quindrife put distance between herself and the oddly matched pair, one didn’t seem to be there at all and the other wanted something that it couldn’t quite have yet; they were mild in disposition and more than likely if both hatched they would be smaller dragons, a green and a blue maybe or perhaps they both were green. Quindrife could never tell for certain what color the eggs would hatch into, unless it was gold she was daft at guessing though bronzes and browns often enough where similar again though she wasn’t sure and to be honest she wasn’t one to judge; even as eggs the dragons were more important than she could ever hope to be.

Flicking the side of her nose with a rough swipe of her left thumb the tomboy moved towards the rather off put almost anti-social positioned egg, squinting at the whitish and red shell Quindrife combed her memory of the reaction from other candidates touching the birth prison, she was ready for whatever this little beast had in store for her. Stepping close to the egg Quindrife pushed both hands against the outer wall of the rather menacing Glowering egg and held her position stubbornly.

Such anger and rage from something so small, something that had yet even made its entrance into the world. Pinpricks of heat washed over her arms and ran the length of torso making her stomach knot unpleasantly at the sensation of phantom teeth violently gnawing at her appendages, how could it be so mad!? What did it have to be upset about!? Snapping her teeth together with a sneer the well-built teenager pushed even harder against the egg for just a moment before she forced her emotions to subside. “You have nothing to be so angry about,” she whispered heatedly, her throat straining to keep low in volume as she addressed the hostile egg. “You have nothing to be angry about, I’m the one that has the right to be angry, not you. Come hatching day if you want someone to fight, I will damn well be ready for you and your misguided temper. I won’t let you hurt anyone, I don’t care if you are a dragon. I won’t let you.” Growling at the end of her words she pushed away with a scoff, even if the little one within the shell was a dragon she knew exactly how dangerous hatchings could be and one with such a hostile predisposition things would be a bloodbath if she didn’t intervene.

Grousing loudly Quindrife pushed her hands through her messy scattered bangs, her chest was tight and her heart was hammering against her ribcage; she could feel her pulse in her ears and nothing would please her better at the current moment then to deck the nearest person. Grimacing and baring her teeth in a vague sneer Quindrife attempt to regain her composure before she moved on to the other eggs.

A walk was exactly what she needed to cool down, stuffing her hands into her pockets the lanky figured candidate stalked around the last four eggs, she normally wasn’t the sort of person that got angry so easily and yet the Glowering colored beast seemed to know exactly how to get under her skin. She was sensitive to these sorts of things and the invasive push from the dragonet within the white and red shell mixed with her own anger that she kept bottled up, a shaken bottle of champagne was exactly how she felt; her cork soaked in rage and anger unexpectedly popped without warning. b*****d little beast!

Snorting dejectedly Quindrife circled around the Effervescent egg, it seemed bright and bubbly at first glance perhaps this little one would be able to settle the goalless battle that was playing out within her heart. Squeezing her clear gray eyes shut the overly-muscular girl threw caution to the wind and placed her hand upon the rather feminine swirly, froufrou shell of the largest egg then audibly gasped.

‘This was exactly what I needed little one,’ she beamed gratefully. ‘I really can’t wait to meet you----oh,’ she paused as she felt the need to remain where she stood for just a bit longer, he, yes definitely a he, was trying to show her something neat! Focusing on his shell for a bit longer Quindrife pursed her lips a bit awestruck at the ego-stroking sensation that enveloped her, she was waiting and yet the little one just continued to brag in his prideful, boasting way. Chortling deeply she pulled her hand away from the effervescent egg then shook her head some, sweat and hair fell into her eyes and a few beads of salty wetness trailed down her jaw. ‘Next time I’m sure you’ll make good.’

Skelly wrinkled his nose as Mari touched the Regal egg and looked at his slightly elder brother motioning to the Shiny egg and then the Murky egg. They could switch? He smiled as Caelan nodded and stepped over and touched the darker egg.

The little one inside seemed upset and curious about the Shiny egg. No, what the shiny egg thought of him and that he touched the shiny egg first? Was it insecure? He stroked the Murky egg, petting the antique bronze shell. He should continue onwards. Skelly looked over the white and red egg and moved away to the rather plain Ovate egg.

Skelly looked at the plain egg and touched it. He paused, head tipped and nothing? No, it wasn't empty. There was something but it felt like it was sleeping? It wasn't interested, that was all.

Caelan followed his brother and switched to touch the Shiny egg. It was a rather pretty egg, light buttery yellow, like fresh baked bread. He stroked it slowly, listening and hummed. It was measuring him, as if it was weighing him against all the candidates before him and being a secretive little thing wasn't telling him. It did seem curious about the rather large bright egg in the distance.

Caelan stroked the shell once more before moving on to the Effervescent egg. It was a bit pink, actually it was very pink and perwinkle blue. It was rather feminine. The largest egg but that didn't make it any less girly looking. Caelan reached out and touched the shell and gave a soft pfft at the overbearing confidence. The egg was very similar to Mari and hopefully they would not find each other compatible. It would be horrible both of them reckless and flaunting.

Jennes moved on to the egg that seemed closest to him, a pale white one. No, on closer look, it had red along the bottom. It made a rather nice contrast, that. He admired the shell as he waked over, then placed a hand on the shell of the Glowering Egg.

Immediately his eyes widened and he started to pull his hand back as if burned, though stopped himself with his fingertips still resting on it. Now that was one angry egg! What could it possibly be so upset about? He would have liked to try and calm it down, but the endless surge of hostility made it clear he wasn't wanted. No need to linger then. He drew his hand back, perhaps a bit more sharply than he intended and moved on. He absently massaged that hand with the other as he walked, trying to clear out the feeling that the hand had been recently gnawed on.

Two eggs left in the sands to touch, and both were....rather bright and showy. Now, truth be told, Seikih wasn't one for flash or pizzazz, just the direct, straight up nature she'd come to expect. So, she moved to the Tropical Egg, carefully letting her hand rest against the shell. Something about this one's emotion, the way it was thinking, feeling, made her stomach growl. A nod came from her, and for the first time, she moved away quickly, after a quick thought to the little one One more Egg...One more shell to touch, and then she'd have felt all of the eggs, and be good to get away from all these shaffing morons who existed around her. Taking a breath in, and letting it out, she bypassed the rest of the eggs, and the candidates, for her final egg.

She made her way over to the Effervescent Egg looking down at the girly egg with a bit of distaste. She wasn't much one to be effeminate either, and she wasn't exactly sure why she was even considering touching this egg. However, the sheer energy that this egg seemed to have....it thought it was something special, that it was THE best. Something about that impressed the young candidate Her eyes warmed, and she murmured something aloud to this egg...the first word she'd spoken all day, "Well, you keep thinking that, little one. I'm sure, when you come out of your egg, you'll be something amazing and special. A spectacle for everyone to see. I can't wait to see what you turn out to be." With that, Seikih stood up, and turned her head to look at the Gold, bowing her head, and turning, walking off the sands. She was done...now it was only to wait.

Jennes moved on to the next egg, one that was a very rich purple in color. He admired the Regal Egg for a moment before placing a hand on its shell. Immediately he was flooded with an inexplicably good feeling. Much like...um. His eyebrows raised at the sensation. It was much like the feeling that pervaded the weyr during a Flight, especially a gold's. And he'd been at the Weyr to know exactly what that was. He had no doubt this dragon would be in plenty of Flights, one way or another. He withdrew his hand and moved on before the urge to linger got too strong.

Cary had bowed and stepped onto the sands, and then slouched against the wall of the cavern as far from the queen as she could get. She'd grown up in the Weyr and she had some theories about why there had been so little warning about the Touching, but this was hardly the time or place to voice them. Dragons had surprisingly sharp ears.

The small clutch size filled Cary with doubts. She knew there was no queen egg, which meant she was only likely to Impress green or blue. The odds of Impressing a gold had never been high for her, but a girl can dream. Not that Cary dreamed of a gold. She didn't give two wherry farts about what color dragon she Impressed. Except secretly, in that part of her heart that she didn't admit existed.

At last the crowd of candidates seemed to be easing up and Cary made a straight line toward the Murky Egg because it looked dark and gloomy like she was. When she put her fingers on it, folding them so that her knuckles ended up being the part of her hand that remained in contact with the shell, she sensed the deep resentment of the under-appreciated, but at the same time reservation. It reminded her of her own plight. She was under-appreciated and very picky about her friends. Maybe the egg was like that.

"Slim pickings for you here," she muttered to the egg. "Good luck." She hoped the egg would realize how they were basically identical. She was tired of not Impressing.

Caelan looked at the eggs and decided to keep with some of the more plain eggs. He moved over to the Ovate egg, curious about the sheer lack of any remarkable characteristics. It was as if the egg was an afterthought and its siblings got all the care. He reached out and slowly stroked the shell and frown. He could sense nothing, most of the others at least touched and the Glowering egg bit. Could it be dead? Just egg yolk?

Caelan shook his head and shifted, glancing around and decided he should attempt the Regal egg next. It was brilliantly colored and he had always been partial to that shade. He walked around it, taking in the large impressive egg and reached out. It felt as if he had been zapped with every single lustful thought made real and in excess. It felt good... really good. He pulled away, flushed and slightly wanting and decided that he would get nothing done if being bonded with a dragon ever felt like that.

Jennes stepped over to the next-closest egg, the dark-hued Murky Egg. Definitely not the flashiest of the eggs, but the subtle shades of earth tones on the shell had their own appeal. He rested a hand on the shell to see how this egg might react. Unlike some of the other eggs, this one did not give off a strong feeling. Like the colors of its shell, the feeling was subtle, a sort of holding back and watching, evaluating. Well, the Candidates were here to let the eggs meet them as much as they were here to meet the eggs, so he lingered by the egg a moment to let it get a good look at him. Then he lifted his hand and moved along.

Close by the Murky Egg was the Shiny Egg, so Jennes headed for that next. It was a bright egg, the light yellow of sunlight on pale sand. Or perhaps sunlight on pale polished stone, since it seemed to glint reflectively when the light hit it right. When he laid his hand on this egg, he was reminded of the Murky Egg. Like the last egg, it seemed to be judging him, though against what scorecard he had no idea. So he stayed at this egg for a moment too, and while there he noticed the faint feeling that the Shiny egg would like to be closer to the largest egg in the clutch, the one Jennes had not touched yet. He glanced at the space between the two eggs. It didn't seem so far to him, but he supposed anything outside the bounds of the egg might seem a great distance to a creature bound inside the shell. Ah well. Perhaps the dragonets could be closer when they hatched. Figuring he'd best move along, he removed his hand from the shell and headed fro the last egg.

Mari glanced around the eggs and shifted over to touch the Shiny egg. It was the closest to her and was rather pretty in a new raised bake bread sort of way. She touched the shell and hummed, feeling the dragon touch he mind and focus on the Effevescent egg? She chuckled softly, amused and hummed as poked about. Was it jealous, envious? Or just unsure and wanting to be by it much larger clutch mate? She moved away from the egg and to it nearby sibling.

The Murky egg wasn't as lovely as the rest of the clutch and smallish. She tipped her head, debating if she should even touch it before shrugging and reaching out. This one wasn't shy about going through her head and much like it sibling seemed to be insecure about the rest of the clutch. She shook her head, pulling back. Silly eggs.

There wasn't many eggs left. Something Skelly was rather thankful for since he only had to touch three more and then he could go back to the safety of the barracks. He wanted to talk to his siblings. The closes to him was the brightly color Tropical egg. He reached out, tentative the shell color reminding him of expensive things and over expressive eggs.

He relaxed and hums slightly listening. The Tropical egg was not a very demanding egg. It was rather at ease and comfortable to be around. Skelly removed his hand and looked around before moving to the last of the striking eggs and leaving the one his brother had warned him from for last.

The Effervescent egg was large but soft looking. It was actually sort of promising. Skelly swallowed and reached out, touching the egg and couldn't help the small bit of laughter escaping him. It wasn't what he expected but it wasn't scary and all the self confidence and assurance helped him relaxed a bit.

He had touched all the eggs but the most striking of the clutch. Caelan looked over the Tropical egg and moved towards it and reached out. It was odd he hadn't touched it when he had reached for the Ovate egg. It was hungry? Could a dragon in a egg be hungry? It wanted something but in a way it seemed use to being disappoint and just content to lounge. How odd. Caelan shook his head and left the sands.

The last egg was the one his brother warned him again, the glowering egg. Pale and red, like just dyed thread or blood on the white flanks of the Lady's runner where it had been scrapped by ill fitting harness. Skelly sighed and slowly reached out, finger tips trembling and winced at the rage and anger and pulsing hostility within the small shell. He pulled his hand back, checking it as if the teeth and claws could somehow push out the shell and harm him. Skelly shook his head and took his leave of the sands, hurrying to catch up with his brother.
