Ni'awtu stopped in her tracks, one hoof in the ground, as if ready to make the next step. How long it was there before she started to feel wobbly, it was hard to tell, but she managed to right herself in time. She seemed a little surprised he did not know, thinking the mother of his children and he must be together. That was the way her mother and she believed her uncles had too, they found love, became lifemates, then they had children. She knew people could have flings, but it just did not really make sense in her head.
"Oh, I am terribly sorry, I suppose I really shouldn't assume things. Makes me look stupid to do so, as we can both see. I suppose I just figured the two of you were lifemated, having children and all,"Ni explained, looking really embarrassed now.

Stopping when she did Eri looked at her concerned until she managed to gain some composure. He listened to her try and stammer an explanation and felt bad. He shook his head slowly. “It’s alright you don’t have to worry about it.” He made a small cuffing sound. “I would have made the same assumption. It’s very common to only have children once you’ve become lifemates for some. It’s less of an issue for my family.” He looked at her. “So you needn’t be too concerned. It’s true I do love Guinevere Sue more than I’d care to admit, but after our son disappeared things weren’t the same. It made a gap that I couldn’t bear to cross like I used to.” Eri shook his head and wondered why he was so sentimental. He really needed to stop brooding so much on the thoughts of the past. They were a bittersweet poison that would slowly eat away at him.

Ni'awtu was about to object with how she still should have known, til she heard the last thing he said. Her eyes softened and she felt sorry for him, thinking all of this must be very hard on the other.
"Well, you know how you told me I need to allow others to help me with my burdens? If you ever need to talk through your thoughts and feelings, you can always talk to me. I happen to have a pretty good ear, a trait I picked up from my mother,"Ni smiled softly. Her mother and her mother's bonded were really good to helping others, so was Ni.

His feelings were a muddled mess and he had burdened her too much already. Still the offer was so very sweet. He nodded and smiled even if it didn’t reach all the way to his eyes. “Of course. Thank you. I’ll keep that in mind.” He didn’t know if she saw through him or not. It felt like it but maybe that was just because it was the most he had spoken about himself in a long time. He really needed something else to focus on all this self talk was making him sad and having someone so kind to him was making him far to tempted to lean on her, and how could he do that when she had worries of her own?

Ni'awtu could see the other was still troubled, but she was not really sure how to help. She had never been in that predicament before and she was not entirely sure how to handle it.
"You know, it does not do any good to bottle everything up. It must be hard to not know how you feel for someone, even if you have children together. From what Lady Dea tells me, she says there are people who may be able to tolerate each other, but do not really love one another. She said the way she knew she loved Sir Al was that she would do anything for him,"Ni explained.

He looked at her and shifted his weight standing still for a moment before going forward again to keep pace with her. What Ni’awtu said to him prickled his feeling of guilt. He felt a need to explain that outweighed his sense of social edict. “I know how I feel mostly. I do love her, but it’s not the same kind of love as we used to share. I cannot imagine it being just a tolerating between us, after all she is nice and kind and there is nothing wrong with her at all.” If anything he was the defective one. “I would do anything for Gueniviere Sue, but I just cannot seem to stop myself from feeling dragged on. I know it isn’t right of me, but that’s how it’s become. I know I should love her like is did before but I can’t make myself do it and I shouldn’t be tempted by just some cute mare I meet and have no clue about.” He blushed and looked down wishing he had kept his mouth shut. This could not get worse.

Ni'awtu tried to think of what to tell him, not completely sure at the moment. When he said the last thing, she could feel herself blush slightly, but she told herself he was in love with another.
"Well, if you truly love her, you should try to make things work. I do not know how she feels about you, but maybe she loves you too. Or perhaps what you have, maybe always have had, is some kind of respect for each other, but not true love. I believe that if you are truly with your soul mate, you never really fall out of love, if the love is real. I believe you can tell that Azrein anything, knowing they will understand,"Ni spoke quietly.

He was quite while the tried to calm and organize his tumultuous thoughts. He loved Guinevere Sue. He wanted things to work. In his heart though he knew he would always have a little dead spot and that would bother him. Did that make what he felt not true love? Ni’awtu’s words disturbed him more than he let because it felt like she understood him better than Guinevere Sue did. That was unsetting because of the attraction he was feeling toward her. Or was it another case like she suggested where it was respect and perhaps a bit of a crush but not true love? How could he know for sure? This was getting him more and more frustrated. His ears flicked back and he took a moment to get a steadying breath before he tried to find something to say. “Thank you. You’ve given me a lot to think on and I think perhaps I need to speak with Guinevere Sue.”

Ni'awtu smiled softly to him, hoping that it would work out for Eri, seeing how troubled he seemed to be. She walked quietly forward, watching the birds in the trees and the beauty all around. She was a romantic, believing in true love and everyone have at least one soul mate.
"Good, I am glad you will talk to her, since I do not want to see a new friend so upset when they should be happy. Maybe the answers you seek will come to you, you just have to really be honest with yourself,"Ni suggested.

The bright and happy day didn’t seem quite as pleasant as he wrestled with himself. He needed a break and time to think and sort through his feelings. “Thank you, it seems all you have been doing is helping me Miss Ni’watu. I will need some time to sort through my feelings so I can do just as you suggest.” He kept his head down and his eyes on the path his hooves were taking wondering how long it would be until he met this mare’s mother. He didn’t know if he could trust himself around Ni’watu. She wanted him to be honest with himself and if he was he knew he was sorely tempted to be close to her, perhaps to close. He was older than he let on and didn’t want to betray his old love. How could he be honest when he was flailing about mentally so?

Ni'awtu bowed her head to him, letting him know she did not mind giving him some help, then continued to lead the way. She continued on until about five minutes later, she saw the stable come into view.
"Here we go, this is where my mother should be, probably keeping an eye out for her bonded. She tends to stick close to her, especially lately with the woman pregnant, though should be not much longer since her and my mother were pregnant together for awhile,"Ni explained.

Following Ni mostly automatically he had to admit he was rather charmed when he saw the stable. It was strange what things passed through his mind while he was trying to sort out his emotions with out thinking on them too deeply so he didn’t become upset. It was as if tiny little details popped into his head that he would usually ignore. Such as how green the grass was or how stable looked clean and well cared for but very strong. He nodded to what Ni only hearing half of it. Ni’s mother was close to her bonded. It wasn’t a surprise and pregnancy naturally had most others jumpy and so pregnant women always had someone close by.

Ni'awtu walked up to one of the windows to the stables and then looked back to Eri with a smile.
"If you think my perceptive skills are bad, wait til you meet my mother. She takes it to a whole new level, almost like she can read your mind. Granted, she can pretty much read Lady Dea's and the other Azrein bonded to Lady Dea's mind through their network, but...well, you will see what I mean,"Ni laughed. She poked her head into the window and called out for her mother.
Soon, a pink mare came out of the stable, her white wings tucked against her back. She saw the stallion nearby and gave a questioning look to her daughter.
"Mom, this is Eri, he needs your assistance or Lady Dea's, knowing you two know most of the people in the Greater Herds. I will let him explain,"Ni explained to her mother.

Eri gave Ni a look of disbelief. That was still on his face when the mare came out of the stables. He coughed and cleared his throat looking at the pink mare. “My apologies for disturbing you ma’am. I was wondering if you might know the location of my son. His name is Zoy, he lives with his bonded in the city and there is a white mare there name ah.. Vex? She wears a bear pelt as an accessory.” He realized how strange the request must be so he thought he should explain. “Normally our daughter goes back and forth to the city to check on him but lately she has other interests that consume her attention so I thought I should check on him. He wracked his mind for any other facts that could help lead him to his son but he was coming up blank. “Zoy lives with his bonded and his bonded’s mate.”

Ni'awtu saw the thoughtful look in her mother's eyes, knowing she was either trying to remember those names herself or she was conversing mentally with Dea. She waited patiently, before the thoughtful look disappeared from her mother's eyes and a smile crossed the older mare's face.
"Mama, do you know where he is?"Ni asked.
"Yes, Dea and I are acquainted with Zoy and his chosen. You were wise in coming to ask us, since we should be able to take you to where they are,"Serenity nodded. She looked to over at Ni and had to think, she seemed a lot quieter around her than usual. She knew something was up by the way Ni would look at the stallion and then quickly looked away.
