Narisa smiled, glancing at her friend and for the moment, feeling like someone other than a Goldrider. "Oh I have no doubt of that one." She snorted softly, giving Set'al an eyeroll. "They'd be horrendous!" Cepheith would probably engage in one of her infamous cleaning tirades. Or outbursts of pure energy. Something that just made Narisa groan internally. It was such a pain to deal with her dragon when she was in a feisty mood!
I can always get more creative with what I do. Cepheith warned.
She smiled at those they passed, absently placing her hand along Set'al's arm. "Hmm... that's not a bad idea." The Goldrider said thoughtfully, tapping her chin. "Adds a little excitement into the evening! Though the real question is... can I slip away without anyone stopping me?" She did draw more attention then her friend. Especially when dressed up.
"Why don't we start with that food and drink?" Narisa teased, leaning to poke his stomach.
We should try this course of action next time. The Gold snickered, nuzzling her companion lightly. However we'll need a backup plan in case they do listen to us and 'not come'. Okay she was being a little hard on her Rider. The young woman was pretty good at showing up for important schedules on time.
Just not when tired and paranoid. Mine should borrow some of Yours' cheerfulness. Cepheith observed with amusement.

Kindra gave Eiran a reassuring smile "Just remember for the future Erian" she said knowingly, she'd had others trying to smooth things over with her before and recognised his words as such. She had a feeling that this boy and his dragon, might be cause for more than a few mishaps in the Weyr, well.. hopefully they'd mature well.
Suunath nosed the Ladle again then nosed Laeonaith "Oh THAT Room, the one that the people gather in a lot, Mine sometimes brings some meat for the little cousins from there" meaning Kindra's flitters "Thank you for bringing me the gift Laeonaith, you should go and join your clutchmates" She said as she felt Kindra's mood shifting slightly, knowing her rider was now looking at her and her Bronze son. She lifted her head but gave the little bronze a reassuring rumble as she did so, returning to her observing position.

Becka had been making her way towards the Weyrlings, dragons and their new bonded alike to check on the dragons and make sure that no one was really hurt. Oh she knew that the journeyman healers would have checked everyone over but she had a duty to Bereck to at least further herself by going and checking up on them herself. She was glad that he was up and about and had been happy that he'd seen his son Impress.
She tried to hold her head high but when she caught sight of Rochelle... hugging Carl...no.. C'tis .. she blanched a little, she'd sort of liked C'tis but now.. Becka sighed, closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath before opening her eyes and moving towards the pair, a small smile on her face "Congratulations on Impressing you two, your dragons are well?" she asked them, trying to keep her minor disappointments off her face.

C'tis blinked and then scowled reflexively, leaning away from Rochelle... and then relaxing into the hug. "Well. Yes. I'm sure he's just busy," he muttered. He wasn't entirely sure, but he didn't want to dwell on that just now. "Tomorrow when Bel's not feeling sick anymore, and after our chores and everything maybe we can-
"Oh. Hi Becka." The greeting was neutral, tinged with wariness as C'tis' eyes flickered to Rochelle for a moment before returning to the healer. He wasn't sure what he thought of her himself but he couldn't say that he really had anything against her; she had stitched his face up and dealt with other injuries he picked up fighting until more experienced healers had arrived after all.
Rochelle's opinion, however, was quite clear. Malcarreth! His dragon!
<...Yes?>
Malcarreth cut in.
"Thank you," C'tis went on to Becka; the pause after his greeting had only been momentary, but probably noticeable all the same. "Malcarreth's fine, yes, no problems so far." Was it him or did Becka look a bit disappointed? Had she hoped to Impress herself - though if so why wasn't she a candidate? - or was she just a bit displeased that they had? Hu, well if the latter was the case then shaff her!

She nosed closer when he leaned back and then relaxed, her hands flexing on his arm. Silly C'tis, thinking the arm-hanging would end with Impression. She could barely remember an interaction where she'd not latched on at least once. "I think maybe he's pining for that girl," she suggested, snickering.
There was nothing in the world to be upset about. They had food, and dragons, and hugs (very important, those), and... Becka.
She bit back the instant snarl of dislike, schooling her face with not often used restraint. After last time, she couldn't quite believe the girl would still approach, still say hello. Seriously? But... no. Calm.
calm
That's a good girl, Kibeth murmured, the edges of her eyes flicking the same color of her hide. She wedged herself under the table and up against Rochelles legs, coiling about them in a physical barrier along with the mental pressure of I know you're a stupid girl but don't ruin this, idiot.
Rochelle smiled instead even though it came out brittle and not at all kind. She'd pillowed her cheek on c'tis' arm to look at the girl and slowly, very slowly, lowered her arms though she didn't quite lean away.
"She's fine. Bereck's already looked her over. We went and visited him a day or so back," At least she didn't sound gloating...and she didn't feel it, nor smug, or as if she were better than the girl. Her dragon hadn't been in the clutches, that was all it meant. Are you making me think nice thoughts about this little shaffing bi---
Believe it or not, you're capable of kind thoughts.

Becka's heart was in her mouth the whole time she waited for a response from C'tis and Rochelle, She was pleased that C'tis managed to be pleasant enough, "He's a fine blue" she said to him, her small smile a little broader once she'd gotten over her initial feelings of regret and minor jealousy. After all, everyone she'd met in the mayhem of the takeover before moving to Trine now had dragons, she might be dedicated to Healing but she couldn't help that minor pang that had hit her when she'd been told Aleck, Rochelle, Carltis and even that Benden Healer girl all Impressed.
She blinked, those thoughts running through her head in a fraction of a second, "Well you seem to be taking good care of him, i'm...i'm pleased for you Car..i mean C'tis" she said calmly enough, hoping her pause wasn't really noticed because despite her regret she really was happy for him, Rochelle too.
Speaking of Rochelle... Becka's heart dropped, the feeling hit her belly like a stone dropped Between, the look on Rochelle's face wiped the smile off Becka's though she tried not to and tried to recover, leaving the merest of wan smiles on her lips. "You went to see him? That's good, i know Crimsons can sometimes need more intensive looking after" she said, her voice cracking a little "You seem to be doing well with her though, she looks nice and strong"... and beautiful .. she didn't add the last though, not sure how either would react to her really admiring their dragons for their beauty, even the Blue was grogeous in his own way.
She wanted to scurry off, to get away from Rochelle, she didn't have any bad feelings towards her but she was sort of afraid of the hosility that almost seemed to radiate off her whenever Becka was near her. It made Becka feel very very small indeed but she stayed, determined to prove that she could be a good healer despite whatever Rochelle or anyone else felt about her... especially since feelings didn't mean a pile of wherry s**t when it came to being injured and being looked after. She'd heal Rochelle... anyone that needed it when....if .. she became Journeyman Healer, despite Rochelle's obvious hatred.

Well at least Rochelle didn't explode; that was something to be grateful for, though Becka looked as though she half expected to have her throat ripped out at any second.... 'Seemed to be taking good care of him?' C'tis scowled but restrained himself from instantly jumping down the healer's throat; it almost felt as though Malcarreth had put a hand on his shoulder, steadied him.
Becka's voice cracking earned her a more thoughtful frown; jealous then? Of course she was more jealous of a lovely special crimson than just a blue!
...That was also possible.
Or that.
"Yes he is, yes I am, and I'm so glad you approve," C'tis said in faintly edged tones once Becka had finished speaking. "I was hardly going to neglect him, have been waiting for this for a long time you know."

Ooooh, goodness.
Rochelle lifted her hand and put it to the curve of C'tis' elbow in what she hoped to be discreet. She'd done the same for Aleck once, when he tensed up under the silver riders scrutiny. Just like them, she leaned a bit closer.
"Mal is rather lovely, isn't he?" She chirped, slanting a sideways look and up to C'tis. She'd put a piercing into her eyebrow before the hatching, made the jewelry as red as her dragons hide, and she squeezed a little. "I like his pattern."
but, oh, look, her voice cracked. A muscle under her eye twitched, Rochelle slowly looking back towards Becka. "I go and see Bereck all the time. He's like a second father to me." And she smiled, sweet as she could, and refused to move away from C'tis. "She's fat, if that's what you mean about 'strong'. Not quite used to the whole walking bit and I've been filled in about the oiling regime."
The crimson rider paused for a heartbeat. "So, you know I don't like you. Coming over because I can't be physically violent or to make eyes at one of us? Hate to tell you but I'm only into guys and have already decided we're going to be weyrmates. With C'tis. And Aleck. All three of us. It'll be glorious. Sadly, your charms won't be working." rochelle considered her statement for a moment. "Well, perhaps just C'tis. Aleck's ridiculously devoted to his work. What do you think, C'tis?"
You were doing so well. Kibeth hissed, her thin tail whipping on the ground. She turned her thoughts to Malcarreth, a grumble in her words. I wouldn't blame her for snarking at Rochelle at the moment, but perhaps it can wait until after the little one is gone? She may break under the rage and that's just so messy. The crimson sniffed, disapproving of her rider. And I wish I could tell you if she's joking.

Truthfully Becka was a little bit jealous of both of them equally, to her no dragon was 'better' than another, unless you counted Berath .. because clearly the chunky Green WAS the best dragon on all of Pern.
She baulked at C'tis' scowl.. oooh that wasn't what she'd meant at all, it appeared he had taken her comment the wrong way ... shells why couldn't she just TALK without saying the wrong thing. "O..of course C'tis i didn't mean..." she'd have said more but Rochelle began speaking. "They're both lovely Rochelle" she said before the girl began talking again.
At first what the other girl said was nothing new, she knew Rochelle went to see Bereck a lot, how could she not but the girl's next words had Becka both upset and furious ... more upset showed on her face though. "No.. i..i came over to check on your dragons for Bereck, saves him having to walk much if he's not with Aleck and Belcarrath" her throat felt tight, she really truly was happy for them and she would get over the hurt of not finding a dragon of her own because she was at the Weyr for more than their dragons after all. "I'm here as apprentice healer.. you just happened to be the first two weyrlings i came across" she said matter-of-factly trying to keep the emotion out of her voice the way Bereck might have. "If that's what you're doing then...then i'm very glad for all of you" she said, fighting the urge to look away and at her feet. "I..i have to go and see the other Weyrlings now... Congratulations again" she managed to squeak out before turning away just as her flit Nightling appeared, returning from wherever Bereck was with hits flits. The green spending as much time with the old healer and his fair as much as she did with Becka. The flit turned orange/yellow eyes towards the weyrlings before crooning and rubbing her head against Becka's cheek as the girl made her way towards other Weyrlings to check them over too.

What?!
C'tis stared at Rochelle for a few moments, not entirely sure what to make of what she'd just said. After a few moments he decided she was joking or, rather, having more of a go at Becka. The attack seemed to have the desired effect; the healer stammered a bit more before turning and hastening away. C'tis shook his head, watching her move off for a few moments before looking back at Rochelle. She'd taken his arm. That was... nice. He didn't take it to mean much more than a friendly gesture though; he was still pretty sure she liked Aleck.
After a moment he raised his eyebrows a little and said; "Well that was a brief visit. Why she thinks the hatchings all need a visit from an apprentice I have no idea... You really hate her don't you? It's actually rather impressive, I thought only bastards like me could muster that much bile. I think I counted about six different ways you had a dig at her just then."
Malcarreth observed to Kibeth with a snort. Giving a wide yawn the blue settled himself down more comfortably. When you were three days old a month seemed like a very long time, let alone a whole turn of the seasons.

She felt his stare. Rochelle made a point of knowing when someone looked at her (or tried to make a point of it, rather). She didn't look at him but continued to smile at Becka, peppy as a cardinal, eyes almost shut with the size of her beam. "Oh it is," The glass smith assured her. "I'll make sure to think of you fondly once we're na- see you later, dearest!"
Rochelle blew a kiss at Becka's retreating back, the smile having faded to a dull scowl. It took her a minute to pull her hand away and spear some meat, pausing when C'tis spoke.
"I don't like being hit," she said after a long moment. "And I don't like being treated as the bad guy for being mad about it. She knows I don't like her and comes up anyway, all surprised and crying when I've made it clear that I think she's a sneaky, manipulative, surprisingly moist in the face bit of wher dung. I've beaten down guys my size for hitting me, like shards am I going to take it from her. Bugger what bereck says."
She took a savage bite of the roast meat and chewed with perhaps a bit more force than required. "You've just never had me mad at you, and I never claimed to be nice." Grumble. "...but thank you, I'm taking it as a compliment."
It's forever. Kibeth agreed with a yawn. She fell silent, drifiting into a contented half doze now that Hers started to calm down.

Roscoe..no R'oe now as Jaggeth kept reminding him had quietly slipped into the feast, receiving their knots without much fuss before retiring to the tables with a plate of food. Jaggeth had curled up beside him and appeared to be dozing..or at least he had been.
'Jaggeth! Where did you go?' R'oe demanded when he glanced down and discovered the little brown had run off. At least he hadn't yelled it out loud..he was getting better at this mind speaking thing.
'There is someone upset over here' The brown told him matter of factly 'I am going to see to them.'
'I'm sure they are perfectly fine' R'oe stated 'Now come back here before someone steps on you.'
'No one will step on me mine..your so funny sometimes.' The brown stated with a mental laugh. As though anyone would step on him! There were plenty of smaller hatchlings here who might suffer that fate but not Jaggeth! Besides he really wasn't going all that far, only to a girl and a flit a couple of tables over, the flit had been upset because of the girl and now Jaggeth was here to help! Crooning at Becka he sniffed her up and down as thought attempting to determine what was wrong.
'I'm not trying to be funny Jag' R'oe sighed and put his plate down so that he could go and see what his dragon was sticking his nose into. Every time he turned around the little beast was chasing after anything that had a scratch on it or seemed out of sort. It was tiring really.

Becka blatantly ignored Rochelle's comment to her back, she just walked away, trying not to be upset but failing as a few stray drops coursed down her cheek before she wiped them away as a Brown Hatchling made her stop as he crooned and sniffed at her. "oh.. hello ..." she said taking a deep breath before looking for his rider, but for the moment not seeing one. "I'm alright .... you look well cared for, can you stretch your wings for me?.. without knocking into anyone?" she asked, not thinking he'd do it without his rider but she was healer first and foremost so she'd do her job. Nighling on the other hand, chittered at the brown, sending him images of the mean girl and the other boy and Becka before Becka scolded her. "Enough Nightling, it's over.. and nothing to do with this dragon"

Although the girl said she was alright Jaggeth wasn't all to sure. 'Is it proper to leak from ones eyes?' Jaggeth asked his rider, tipping his head sideways in puzzlement as he studied the girl. His puzzlement was short lived however because then she was asking him to do something and chirping happily he sat up on his haunches and spread his wings - carefully. He was quite proud of his wings as he thought they were very lovely and if she wanted to see them he would certainly show them off!
The images sent from the flit were also puzzling but Jaggeth craned his head sideways to peer at the subjects of the flits images behind the girl before consulting his rider. 'Two others were mean to her I think. I don't know why? It seems rather pointless to be mean on a day like today..'
'R'oe meanwhile had just finally caught site of Jag as he sat before the girl. 'It's called crying, people do it sometimes.' He assured the brown, deciding to justl eave the whole 'why are people mean' question alone for now. PIcking up the pace he jogged the rest of the way "I'm sorry if he's bothering you." He told Becka as he came to a stop "He said you were upset, Jaggeth..well he seems to think it's his job to make sure everyone around him is okay..but he doesn't always know when to leave people alone." At least the hatchling hadn't gone stalking a ranked rider or something, crooning over a broken nail or lover's quarrel.

Becka was pleased at the brown's wingspread, his wingsails seemed properly oiled. "Well done, thank you" she told the brown, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. She did groan a little as the brown looked behind her and she hoped that they didn't think she was talking about them.
"Oh.. he's yours? ... he's a sweet fellow, and looks very healthy, congratulations" she said, trying to cheer herself up, it was easier with the little brown though, he was a lovely thing. "No.. no he's not bothering me at all" she didn't add that it was nice that at least one person cared. "I'm..I'm sorry i'm Becka, apprentice to Bereck, he was Weyrhealer back home at Malvren, he's also a Masterhealer, i'm just helping him check on the Weyrlings" she told him, explaining why his brown had stretched out his wings for her, also explaining her presumption at talking to his dragon directly before his rider had turned up.
