The Hunter smiled rather brightly. "There we go, I knew you had some sense in you, I think you understand your situation as well, and well, considering your tantrum, had it been anyone else other than me, you would have probably kindly found yourself the exit rather forcefully." She tilted her head a bit, looking upwards. "It also means I like you, and no, not that way, I don't do Fear. I'm thinking more, hmmm... potential. You are over there, stuck at what we call a crossroads. A line you cannot cross or don't know what to cross." She gestured towards his side of the barrier and then towards the tents. "Now, over here, is a whole brand new world, so to speak. You don't know what is on this side, and perhaps it never occurred to you to just ask. You never really thought that perhaps you do have more purpose than just this, that you can fulfill it and most of all-"

- Her eyes flickered a little past Herryk, and then back to the focus -

- "You will never be alone. You will be complete, never abandoned ever again. You can fight at last knowing someone is supporting you each and every step of the way and finally push away all your fears, pains, problems, start all over again. That is what you want right, because if not, then I'm afraid our little counselling therapy session is over, there are plenty of others with potential waiting for me." She turned to leave.

He listened to her intently, eyes troubled, expression grim. Thoughts tumbled rampantly through his head. Everything that she said pulled at him, drew him in the most primal of ways. He wanted everything she promised more than he could put words to - and though he did not know her name, he felt that she actually understood what he wanted. What he needed. Herryk felt strangely connected, and it felt... surreal. Everything she spoke was the truth. He could find no fault in what she said.

Feeling complete? Yes. Ever since the trance, he'd felt shattered and disjointed, pulled apart in a hundred million different ways. He'd tried bandaging himself together again - prom, radio club, fright night. Nothing worked. For a time, perhaps, things had felt manageable. Soon enough that feeling of security would fade, and he was left once more feeling splintered and feeble.

Never abandoned? He thought about that for a split second. There were times he felt abandoned by those who had cared most about him. Was it his fault for not reaching out? Absolutely, yes. But... perhaps those who cared could have done something for him. Perhaps they could have taken the initiative before things had turned to blackness, beyond his control. The spiral had been never-ending, but perhaps there could have been a time...

A fresh start? He wanted it more than he could put words to. His existence from the start had been fueled by experiences and wonder, and he'd found joy in these things. Friends, poofs. Everything had been new and fresh to him. Love, as well. She had been...

"Wa--" his voice broke, and he cleared his throat and tried again, "Wait."

She was leaving. He had to make a choice, here and now. Go with her, or return to the life that he'd come to hate. The endless cycle of pain, destruction, exhaustion, hate. Over and over again, days filled with a mixture of self-loathing and rage.

"Please. A fresh start, yes? Please. Take Herryk."

He'd earned this. He deserved this new beginning, no matter what it entailed.

Never abandoned again.

In truth, if Freya was going to be honest with herself, the offer had curled its dangerous claws around her heart at those words, just as cleverly as they had with Herryk. Her eyes finally shifted to look at the Hunter, brows furrowed in a sudden desire to expose herself. But if her words were true, if they really had something so desirable to offer..

Freya knew Jeremy would have offered it to her long ago, just to taunt her. And he'd never said a word.

She pulled back, until all she could see was Herryk, and hissed out a hopefully quiet enough whisper. She couldn't take Herryk. Freya wouldn't let her. He wasn't allowed to leave, to abandon everything he'd come to love and cherish just as he had been trying to do for so long. Freya wouldn't let him go.

Freya couldn't let him go.

"Herryk." Her hushed whisper tried to capture his attention, get some sense back into him, before he made the biggest mistake of his unlife. "Please."

(( Entering! ))

Jake was lucky his supporter was both in good health, light on her feet, and feeding off all the pent up nervous energy she had been building up - they made it to the base in almost record time. anything to get away from the smell of blood and the sound of screams.

Normally she would have hummed to herself some classic Disney song to keep her nerves in check, but her breath was used instead to haul a** to one of the beds where she gingerly helped the guy sit down. "Ah . . ." Adrenaline was what was keeping Stormy on her feet at this point, so with a somewhat frantic pace she went about gathering different materials to help bandage him up.

No time for sleep, even though those beds looked so comfy . . .

"Close, huh." She began to unravel a runic bandage to wrap around his most injured area. Nothing was said about the strange confrontation going on with . . . Wait what. Were those Halloweeners? What was the Death Hunter doing . . . ? She didn't think they could interfere, but her eyes kept straying.

Specifically to the large dark one. The one with all those dangerous looking muscles.

Nope. Not the smell of blood, Stormy. You were going to have to deal with that, because Jake was just oozing blood everywhere, yup.
Too tired to snap at Stormy for taking him out of the battle, he only sat on one of the beds, grumbling irritably as he let her bandage him.

"Yeah, whatever."

Exhausted as he was, even the exchange between... wait, a Halloween student. HERE?!

He would of lept to his feet and summoned his weapon to attack if he still had an ounce of energy left, but he only sat and stared wearily at the creature. At least... it seemed they were protected from being attacked by that thing with those daggers. Damn, if only he had used them sooner, then maybe...

Whatever. That battle wasn't any of his concern anymore. Not at the moment. Should he of stayed, he'd probably just add one more to the death toll.
Instead, he turned to the death hunter that seemed to be addressing the creature.

"The hell are you talking to that thing for? Just get rid of it."

Shhhhh better one person's blood than a whole lot of bodies' worth.

Away from the battle, she was able to fall back a little more into her usual sleepy humor, and that meant she took his brusque attitude with quiet nonchalance; she'd be annoyed too if she were in that much pain. As he addressed the leader, she merely continued to attend to him as if nothing were happening, like they had just taken a nasty tumble after a mile or jogging or something. Heavy panting, racing heart, sweaty fingers, calm movements.

Just . . . calm.

Thane made a derisive noise in her head.

Though Stormy too was curious about the Hunter's deal with those two 'Weenies, in comparison to what they had just came from she didn't feel fear. Just a numbness in her extremities and the vestiges of adrenaline still pumping through her.

Thane was summoned and stuck in the ground behind her, standing almost as tall as his Hunter - just in case the barriers needed defending too.

And then back to bandaging. She stood up after a while. "These look okay . . .?"

Whatever. Whatever that hunter was doing, it didn't concern him.
Geez, he wished Caelius was here. The guy probably wouldn't hesitate to tear that thing to shreds. Though of course... he'd probably deal with him first for being out of the fight so fast.

When Stormy spoke, he looked down to see that most of his wound had been dressed now. He wouldn't outwardly admit it, but she did a pretty decent job. At least a lot better than he would of if he had tried.

"Yeah, great, thanks." he muttered.
He stared at the dragur again, remembering the battle.
He wanted to tell Stormy to head back, but hell, she'd probably just be mere fodder for them. Those things... horsemen and Halloween.
They were fighting a losing battle.

No, no no nonono the hunters were returning and nobody was left to fight and her hiding place only hide her from one direction and she was screwed. Freya curled up into a ball again, a soft whispered hum escaping her as she started to slip away from reality. She rocked back and forth. If anyone wondered how much of a threat she was.. it would be clear the answer was none.

"And thank you for sitting still for me," Stormy returned pleasantly, glad to see runic bandages worked a lot quicker than regular ones. "It was probably hard to too. You were really brave handling all those attacks." Unlike her, who had to have someone yelling orders in her ear to get her to go anywhere practically.

The only other time had been when she defended Sasha from the red man, and even that had ended up with her being sucked in the vortex.

"They'll tear us apart if we go back," she continued softly, a concerned look tossed towards where they had come from. "Should we watch base in case more come . . .?" Stormy's question trailed off as she noticed, by a few barrels where the other Death Hunter couldn't see but they could, was a curled up pale figure of another Halloweener.

She was struck by the fact that they too could look so afraid.

Her voice dropped into a whisper as she learned towards the other trainee. "Should we take it down? Are you feeling better enough for it?" What if it was going to go after the older Hunter?

hi have more idle conversationnn

Stormy's response only earned a grumble. As the runic bandages began to hum and glow, Jake could already feel his strength returning, and with that, his irritable attitude.

More like tossed around like a piece of meat. He had only managed to get in one good attack before he was assaulted on all sides. Damn, he needed to get stronger. At this rate, he was only a hindrance to the other hunters.

His gaze followed Stormy's, and when it fell on the figure hunched up by a few barrels, he stiffened.
Another one? Where the hell were these creatures coming from?

Normally, he was all for attacking them, but well, this one just looked pitiful. What the hell was it doing there anyways? Was it lost?
Whatever. One lone creature wasn't worth his time.

"Attack it if you want. I'm not interested." he muttered, waving his hand. If anything, he'd much rather fight that big black one.

The "Death Hunter" gave the two a very, very strained, patronizing sort of style. "Hi sweeties, the nursing room is over there, make sure you get a bandaid for your boo-boo's." The sarcasm was slathered extra strong. "Now, if you kids want to go and do your playroom thing, and let mommy and daddy talk, and do the candidate specialization thing, that would be great, okay honeys?"

She pulled out a simple plastic card, opening her computer to type in a few choice prompts before running the card through the scanner. It was then attached to a rather long piece of string and then tossed in a neat arc to Herryk. "Well, go ahead then. It'll give you restricted access. But once you cross over, you can't come back. You can't go back to your old life. You will be a new you." She waited, eyes flickering to Freya, who had not been unnoticed considering how unsubtle the other had been, and the Hunter deliberately gave the general vicinity a sort of lazy cheshire smile with her rather perfect white teeth. "It has to be your choice."

((lol phone tag))

Herryk did not shy away from the two Hunters that had approached, insured watching them with a keen interest. They were soon dismissed as Herryk turned his attention once more to the hunter he had connected with. She understood him where these others obviously did not.

He caught the thing that she threw at him, turning it over in his hands before glancing up at the female once more. He turned when she glanced behind him, and it was then that he saw Freya. His expression hardened marginally, and he made no move to approach her. In fact, the sight of her seemed to urge Herryk forward.

It was his choice. Never abandoned. Never forgotten.

He took the steps that would give him the clean slate he so desperately wanted.

She had quite the chastised look when the senior Hunter addressed them as children - no offense taken there whatsoever, not when she was very well aware of how clumsy she could be on the battlefield. Stormy didn't know what candidate specialization meant, but she would have liked to ask - and then the explosion happened.

Not at the base, but from whence they came. She sucked in a soft gasp as she turned to look at the small tendrils of fog emanating from ground zero. Dread gripped her gut, but she knew in her heart that they had to go back. "Think that's more interesting," she said with surprisingly calmness, yanking the greatsword out of the ground. "We should probably head back like she said."

Towards the noise instead of away. Gulp.

"I'm . . . not decent at attacking yet, but you probably are. I'll stick to defending you unless there's a window to do something better." She sounded pretty apologetic about it, however, already forgetting how her last defense had been a literal life saver. After all, wasn't it better to be on the offense with these guys?

She wanted to do more, but she just found herself not being able to. Not yet. Not until there was a role for this mist trainee to fulfill like her faction was known for.

"Will do my best," she added as if to solidify the notion, waiting for the other trainee to get up before heading out at his side.
