Cricket raised a brow at Malodore's answer. Food. This was all bubbling down to something to do with hunger? The nurse actually looked disappointed. "Well. This is quite the fuss to make over not wanting to eat."
But I do.
It read so clearly in her face.it should have been impossible to miss. Cricket must have not taken note of that, however.
"Or maybe....." Cricket looked back down at Shehk, then to her apprentice. She didn't finish the thought, but there was silent implication. 'Maybe she doesn't want anybody to know what she's been eating.'

It wished that it could speak to Cricket mind-to-mind as it did with Riley; it felt a little uncomfortable talking about Shehk as if she wasn't there, when she could hear them. Still, it swallowed at her implication. "I, ah. What... I..." It closed its beak. It wasn't entirely sure what the nurse was getting at. It wasn't sure it wanted to be sure. demon_pachabel HI sorry this is so delayed ;;

Cricket was blunt: "She might have FEAR poisoning. There are only a handful of ways to get that and one of them is by ingestion of Formed-FEAR."
Shehk stopped thrashing almost immediately. Kind of like a dog being caught doing what you'd just told it not to.

"Ah..." Malodore ducked its head, feeling oddly embarrassed - no, not embarrassed. Ashamed. What had happened to Shehk, its friend? How had she come to be in such a state without it intervening, taking care of her and guiding her to the right path? It couldn't help but feel a bit at fault... But this was not the place for such things. It took a deep breath to steady itself and straightened, nodding firmly at Cricket. "How do we help her?" One wing flipped protectively towards Shehk.

"You don't. FEAR Poisoning is a type of FEAR infection." Which given how that discussion had gone and a certain whisper of mold and stuff. "There's nothing to do but let it work out of her system." Cricket glanced down towards the Pricolici.
"Otherwise, it's a matter of further prevention. If this is something that she'll do again, it would be wise to find out just what she did to herself."

It nodded, slowly, though it wished there were a different answer. Sometimes healing was just a matter of time... "Shehk," it said, quietly, moving over to the pricolici's side. "What happened? Per favore-" It strained all of its empathy towards her, though that would be a futile effort. It was no mind-reader.

Overwhelming guilt - no. Regret. Shehk glanced up towards Cricket before looking back to Malodore, then away again, ears drooping.
She visibly whispered something, but the words were hard to catch: 'Lost' 'They're gone'.

"Who is gone?" it asked, quietly, reaching out to try and put one hand on her shoulder.

"They are..." she looked up at Cricket for a moment, then frowned. Cricket, on the other hand, wasn't even paying attention at this point. Sure, Shehk was under one arm, but...
Meh. Drama. She was getting fun hive-blips of somewhere else anyways.

Malodore sighed. Maybe it would have to ask her once the poisoning worked its way out of her system. "How long does it take, Infermiera?" it asked, quietly. "Shehk..."

Cricket stared off for a few moments longer before she returned to the moment, looking back down to the pair of students. "Like any poisoning, it depends on how severely she's infected herself. I'd say it could be upwards of a week if she doesn't do...anything else."

Malodore nodded, very slowly. It had never before conceived of the possibility of the unwilling patient... or, rather, the possibility that it might care. That proper treatment and wellness might be diametrically opposite to someone's will, and that said someone might be important to it. Emotions had never been part of medicine in its childhood... or, at least, not emotions shared between doctor and patient. It didn't know what to do, and its fear of appearing unprofessional or unsure in front of Cricket was only making it worse. " Grazie," it said, finally, before turning its attention fully to the pricolici. It had no idea what to say to her. If it was even possible to reach her with words. "... How can I help you?" it asked, finally, its voice barely a whisper.

"I needed to take care of him more than he needed me to and now I don't know what I do with myself." Shehk choked back just as quietly.

Oh. Oh dear. If she meant what it thought she might... "You have to take care of yourself too," it said, quietly. "I care about you, amica mia - but I cannot help you if you don't let me. Per favore, Shehk - if not now, then later?" demon_pachabel Methinks we need to have a follow-up RP with them set in present day like. Right now.

Shehk's ears flattened and her head drooped. "I just don't know what to do with myself anymore..." she confessed, then gave Cricket another nervous look.
However, twitchy or not, she was at least lenient enough to submit to the small plea. She knew her self-destructive behavior was selfish, in a way. "Then later..." she agreed.
