Mot gave Amrita a few inches of space after seeing her fist. "Then I don't get it. Why are you here?" He whispered, a big frown on his face.

Mot gave her space, and Amrita lowered her fist. It was a fair trade, or so it seemed at the time. Sadly it didn't prevent him from continuing to be, well, Mot, and her annoyance was clear on what was left of her face when she looked at him over her shoulder.

"Reasons." She insisted quietly, brushing aside his worry and his confusion and simply not caring about whether or not he understood. It wasn't his business anyway, she didn't have to tell him a thing! As she headed deeper into the shed she began to realize that none of this looked the way she remembered it. Things weren't in the places they used to be, and that somewhat unnerved her; she had been in this place dozens of times before, and it never really changed. Now? Now it seemed...different.

There was something odd about---

"SHH." Amrita hissed out, stopping in her tracks and extending a backward hand to cross his path or to lightly smack his chest depending on how close he was following, and pressed her index finger to her lips. With both of them still, she merely listened to the silence around her, the wind rushing through weather-worn holes in the wooden siding, the noises from the outside muffled.

Something wasn't right.

Mot's face scrunched into a displeased and stubborn look at Amrita's continued defiance of him. Why would she not tell him anything? Why couldn't she understand something so simple! She needed to see it his way. Somehow, he would make her see it his way.

he continued to follow and murmur his displeasure to her, but stopped short with a near tumble as she stopped him. No jingle of his spurs, no muttering, no whines. He tried to listen for what Amrita was. But he'd never been here. Amrita knew Amity better than he did. She'd been around longer.

Finally he couldn't be patient anymore, and lightly tapped at her shoulder for answers, his expression confused.

There it was, that noise. It was faint at first, easy to mistake as one of their own footfalls; in the silence it seemed a little louder, until it was clear - at least to Amrita - that they were being followed. The sound of claws tapping quietly on the old wood floors, the slow drag of stalking paws. It lasted only a moment or two before they stopped entirely, seemingly aware that they were being listened for. The silence was now edged with the low rumbling of warning growls, the sound enough to make Amrita glance over her shoulder, praying to Jack that it wasn't what she thought it was.

s**t.

It was exactly what she thought it was.

"HOUNDS, RUN!" The ghoul yelled suddenly, the mist behind them twisting and solidifying into something obviously canine, something very upset that they were here; something that had started to howl and hiss, snapping surprisingly hard jaws. One of the mist forms leaned back and lunged, forcing Amrita to turn sharply, both hands catching on Mot's thin chest to shove him out of harm's way. Her little bout of selflessness didn't go unpunished, pulling a shocked cry from her lips as the fog dog's solid teeth sunk into the cold, dead flesh of her arm.

A chill ran up Mot's spine, his heartbeat quickening at a pace that began to make him go deaf. Something was there. Something did not want them here. Mot had tried to get Amrita to give up on this place, but it was too late. Now they were both in danger.

Before Mot could react, Amrita had shoved the reaper down to the floor. Her warning had been heard, sure, but the boy had barely registered it in his overwhelmed state.

He landed with a grunt, turning up to see the fog shift and grab hold of the poor little dead ghoul. "AMRITA!" Mot wailed, quickly summoning his shotgun again. He fired shots into the wispy fog, hoping to get the beast's attention off of the ghoul. He got to his feet soon after, ready to run with the undead at a moment's notice.

Mot's bullets tore through the beasts, exploding little holes in the condensed fog with enough force to distort their overall shape. It was enough for Amrita to tear her arm from the surprisingly sharp claws but not enough to avoid the long tears through her dead flesh. With her arm free she spun around, twisting away from the creatures and quite ready to book it out of there, yet not ready to do so alone.

"COME ON!" She yelped out, grabbing Mot's wrist to drag him with her. The little Undead then turned again, using her free hand to grab a nearby shelf and pull, toppling it behind her and spilling it's contents along the floor. It was a ditch attempt at a distraction, but it was enough to pull on Mot's wrist, taking off at a run and heading deeper into the shed.

At least that was the intention. A few feet of freedom lead to one lucky bite from one of the fog beasts; it clamped down on Amrita's fleeing toes and shook just enough to pull her leg out from under her. The undead hit the ground with a startled yelp of pain, luckily releasing Mot's wrist in a vain attempt to grab something more stable to break her fall.

Mot was dragged along with Amrita, turning his head to look at the poor shelf that was used as a distraction. As he turned his head to the front again, he let out a sudden sound, "HOW IS THIS EVEN A SHED? I MEAN REALLY!?" It was just so BIG inside this thing...

Suddenly, Amrita went down. Mot skidded to a stop, never one to abandon a lady in trouble. "This was such a bad idea!" He squawked unhappily.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 13, 2012 7:33 pm

Amrita actually laughed at that. "It's larger on the inside, but we're ALMOST THERE!" It was really more Breck's oversized garage but that was a mouthful. Shed was just easier, or so she always assumed. Then she fell, and all the laughter was gone, replaced with mild panic. The fog beast was hellbent on tearing her to dissipation, and that wasn't something she was interested in doing. She kicked the beasts away with her free foot, feeling her heel connect a few times (and once she made it yelp!) until it finally let her go.

"I-It's still sort of your fault!" She insisted, equally unhappy with the whole situation. Getting to her feet was a little more tricky than it had been prior, and she stumbled a few times but stubbornly tried to keep on her own balance. "If you hadn't tried to white knight---!" This time she cut herself off as she continued on, limping as fast as she could and throwing as much junk in her wake as possible. "THERE, THAT DOOR see that door? WE NEED TO GET THROUGH THERE By the by now might be a good time to SHOOT THE JACK DAMNED DOGS."

Hint hint, Mot.

"Not my fault!" Mot insisted over and over.

He hurriedly, brought out his gun again, firing off rounds at the hounds that chased them. He kept behind the fleeing figure of Amrita, her limp worrying him. They needed to be fast, after all. Well, maybe if he kept shooting, speed wouldn't be an issue.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 15, 2012 9:23 pm

"Is so!" Amita insisted over and over, but kept going. Between Mot's barrage of bullets and their constant rush forward they made it to the door quickly enough. The Vetala left it to the Grim to keep the hounds at bay while she focused all of her attention - and her body weight - on the door that refused to open. The handle wasn't working and the old door was under some strange lockdown, but she was too determined to let that stop her.

Her unfeeling shoulder checked the surprisingly solid wood over and over, using her dead weight to try and tough love it open. A few hard hits and the thing creaked and groaned, the hinges finally giving out and swinging open to their freedom. Amrita was too happy to give a whoop of joy and instead just spun around, grabbing the back of Mot's odd poncho to pull him into the room with her.

She slammed the door shut once Mot was past the threshold, and for some reason, despite the door threatening to crumble off it's hinges again, the dogs didn't follow. They were alone in a room, a suspiciously quiet and well kept room to boot. It was then that Amrita broke the silence.

"WOOOOOO YEAH! I MADE IT!" She yelled, fists pumping into the air.

And so it would go down in history that Amrita and Mot had a "Did Not - Did Too" battle while running from wild dogs.

As Amrita struggled with the door, Mot fired his gun over and over, keeping the beasts just inches at bay as he was becoming overwhelmed. His heart raced. His Fear could only hold out so long. If Amrita didn't get that door open soon...

Mot was flung through the door, his long limbs struggling not to topple him over as he steadied himself. Everything was once again silent. The beating drumming of his frantic heart coming to a calm lull once again. "This.. is what you wanted?" Mot asked, looking at the room with an expression of confusion.

And for the record, Amrita won.

"WHAT?!" Amrita cried out in dismay, staring at Mot's confused face as if it came out of the leftmost field. "DUH! Did you not see what we had to go through to get here?!" She was exhausted and wounded, but the excitement was a clear pitch in her voice. "--NOT TO MENTION all the dangers YOU managed to NOT trigger?!" She let out a very happy keen, her backward hands closing into excited fists that hovered near her cheeks. "It's a huge accomplishment to make it back here! Very few people do! Do you know how many times I ended up reforming in Cricket's office trying to make it through?!" AMRITA WAS OOZING HAPPY AT THIS POINT, that much was painfully clear.

Mot stared, dumbfounded.

This was all some kind of right of passage? Some trial of glory? The reaper wasn't sure if he fully understood, but Amrita seemed very happy. "I suppose..." It was no worse than field trips, really. Those never brought him glory either. Maybe Amrita had been chasing her own ghost.

"So.. how do we get out?"
PostPosted: Sun Dec 16, 2012 8:49 pm

"The door?" Amrita suggested innocently, pointing to a little rickety old door hidden in the shadows. The ghoul was quick to hop to her feet and make her way towards the door she so helpfully pointed out, still mildly limping from her injury. The door opened with ease and she strolled on out into the forest as if nothing had happened, fully expecting Mot to close the door behind her.

A few feet away she spun on her toes, fists on her hips and a slight lean forward. "You really shouldn't meddle in other people's business, you know."

Oh.. there was a door.

: I

Mot followed after her, closing the door behind him, lest anything inside get out. He also made a quick dash to keep as far away from any more vines as possible. He stopped as Amrita twirled about to face him, his gaze lidded at her remark.

"You really shouldn't flounce about in dangerous places just to prove yourself." He wasn't sure if he meant it, but he was feeling bitey with his words.
