THE SergeantAs soon as the two had gotten back, he and Stefan, they hadn't said another word to each other. In fact, Reynolds went right up to the room he was staying in yet again, keeping himself locked up in there. If someone were to ask, he'd have said he was resting up for the travel back. Of course, he was lying. He was, in fact, thinking over his plans one last time. Late that night, Stefan had already fallen asleep, somewhat at peace for knowing that Reynolds had sworn not to try to take Mellina from him. The Sergeant was still awake, however.
What Mellina hadn't known when she went out for a swim was that only moments before, the Sergeant had taken some time to sit outside, as well. It was a peaceful night, and he didn't think it was something to be wasted on inside. It was a nice thought to just stare at the stars on the last night before his plan would go into action. Reynolds had been standing off to the side of the house when he heard someone come outside. Mellina hadn't noticed him, it seemed, but he certainly noticed her. He had watched, silently, as she removed her nightgown to reveal the sweet swimsuit underneath. Seeing her jump in, he tried not to make a sound as he approached the pool.
Following her figure in the water, Reynolds moved to the other side of the pool, and then knelt down right on the edge as Mellina swam closer. He assumed she might come up right below him. Wherever she decided to pop up, Reynolds decided to give her a little startle with his comment, "Nice night for a swim, I see." He was smirking slightly, cocking his head to one side a bit. Waiting for his presence to sink in, he added, "Well, don't you look gorgeous under this moonlight? Stunning, really." He got to his feet and took a couple of steps away to avoid scaring her too much. "Maybe I can ask what you're doing out here so late, miss Mellina?"

Mellina Mizu Mellina had certainly not been aware of the sergeant's presence when she came outside. Swimming to clear her head, not expecting any interruption, though as she got to the other side of the pool and popped up, her hair all in her face, but her hands moving quick, fingers brushing through it pushing it back. Hardly a split second after, seeing and hearing Reynolds, he was too close not to notice. She gasped, and floated back in the water a little backing away from the edge where he was, watching him warily. Blushing from his words, but more in indignation of the comment. At his question, "I could certainly ask you the same...Sergeant reynolds..." Sighing a little, "I was just...well I couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep, so I thought a swim would help me relax..." Not saying anything of her thoughts being bothered by anything, least of all one of those things being Reynolds.

THE SergeantReynolds chuckled lightly, holding his hands up in defense. "Relax, miss Mellina. I didn't follow you out here purposefully, nor do I mean any harm. It was just a compliment." He listened, interestedly, to her answer of why she was there. His smile faltered slightly.. "Were you not comfortable enough with Walters?" It took all he had not to say that name with a venomous sound to his voice. He'd assumed she and Stefan had been sleeping in the same room.. "Well, a swim does look rather nice.. It's too bad, really. If I'd had a swimsuit, I would join you." He almost made a sly comment about skinny dipping, but knew that would anger her immediately, so he held it back.
Walking away from the pool a bit, he found a chair--the type you'd normally put by a poolside--and took a seat. "I'm curious, Mellina. What is it about him?" He leaned forward so his elbows rested on his knees. "What is it about Walters that made you.. fall for him so suddenly?" His bright blue eyes peered into hers, waiting almost impatiently for her answer.

Mellina Mizu Mellina was treading water, her legs still slightly kicking under her, wanting to stay where she was for now instead of being anywhere closer to Reynolds. That was not her favorite option obviously. "Well...thank you..." When he said it was a compliment, she was wary of this man regardless of what he said. Blushing at what he said about Stefan, "I think...you have mistaken the...er...level of our relationship...We are together but...we haven't been together quite like that just yet...this isn't just some fling...where one of us jumped into bed with the other at the drop of a hat..." Using that phrasing, she just was annoyed with how...artificial/superficial Reynolds kept making her and Stefan's relationship sound, like it was all just sex. Making a slight comment, not wanting to invest too much interest in it, or seem like she did, since she didn't want Reynolds to get any ideas, like if he were to suggest his...skinny dipping, and think she would have no problem with it, which couldn't be further from the truth, the fact was, his...persistence like in that situation would bother her.
While Reynolds wasn't speaking to her, being distracted by getting himself a seat, she sunk herself under the water, moving toward the edge and popped up again, pushing her hair back. Since he was now a bit further from her, at least where she was at the other edge of the pool, Mellina leaned back against it, hanging on. Flushing redder at hearing his question, "It's not something I think I know how to explain...I mean I know why...I just, don't know how to explain it..." Already pretty unnerved around Reynolds, "There are plenty of things I could say...the short amount of time didn't matter...it's just one of those kinds of connections..." Sighing feeling so goofy right now and awkward trying to explain it to Reynolds of all people, and well if she thought enough on it she could easily explain it but the other thing is she really wasn't sure about just how much explaining she wanted to do around Reynolds, since she just flat out didn't trust him.

THE SergeantEvery time Mellina blushed, he couldn't help but smirk a little. He liked seeing her cheeks fill with such a vibrant red. He found it.. cute. However, he didn't like that he wasn't the one causing that blush. Not in the way he would have hoped, anyway. With an amused smile, he said, "Is that so? The way you two talk about each other.. and how comfortable Walters already seems to be around you," he remembered when he first got there, and Stefan already looked to be at home. "it looked as if... Ah, well, nevermind."
Reynolds listened, curiously, to what Mellina had to say about Stefan, but was a bit disappointed at what he heard. "Hm.." he chuckled a bit. "That didn't tell me anything, did it?" He leaned back in the chair now, rubbing his chin a bit. "He's a lucky man, you know. Having a woman like you.. I'm envious." He glanced at her, but made sure not to stare for long. This might be his last chance to get on her good side, after all. Then, when Stefan was gone.. His shoulder would always be available for her to cry on.

Mellina Mizu Mellina avoided answering the awkwardness of that...sex question, since Reynolds seemed to assume it to begin with. Rubbing the back of her head, "Sorry...I'm just not sure how to explain...and being put on the spot about it...makes it that much harder to try and make some sense...But honestly...I really like him...he's just...different from others...he's right for me..." Like they were good together and she just saw something different in Stefan, something she really liked about him, though granted she liked everything about him so far, and also he certainly wasn't like Alex or Reynolds, he was just...her type. She couldn't help smiling a little at his last remark, pulling herself out of the pool, moving around the side to where she left her clothing and picked up the nightgown. She liked the water but once it got even remotely chilled or breezy she still got cold so it bugged her. Her gaze drifting to Reynolds wondering what he would do, if he would go in yet.

THE SergeantReynolds sighed and rested his cheek in the palm of his hand. "'You really like him'... You say that, but you don't even really know him, do you?" He stood up, rubbing his hand over the back of his neck. "I mean, sure, you know how he treats women. That's fine and all, but what do you really know about him?" As he continued, he started to walk closer to Mellina. "Can you tell me who his family is? Why he joined the army? Or how old he is?"
Having made his way over to Mellina, he didn't look at her with lust this time, but instead he looked at her as if he was actually concerned. His voice softened as he said, "Can you even tell me how many women he's slept with? Or if you're even his only relationship? He could have a wife back home, and you wouldn't know." Reaching out, he gently touched her arm. "All I'm saying is, it's dangerous to be so trusting toward someone whom you really don't know at all. Especially when there could be someone better for you right around the corner." Reynolds` tone had completely changed from earlier. He was acting as if it might actually break his heart to tell her this. That was his idea, however.. How was he supposed to get close to her--physically or emotionally--if he had continued doing what he had been doing over the past couple of days? He had to get her to trust him somehow. He had to be the good guy, while making Stefan seem like the bad guy.

Mellina Mizu Mellina couldn't help a visible flinch to what Reynolds was saying, like it struck a chord, and it was annoying her how right he was. Drawing in a sharp breath, listening to Reynolds, she wished she were in her room sleeping, not out here having to hear any of this. Granted, no she never thought about any of that, she hadn't really cared to at that point and time. Hanging her head, looking anywhere but at Reynolds, disregarding his touching her arm. "No...I never did think to ask any of that...or find it out..." Admitting it, and hating she felt completely idiotic with Reynolds pointing that out, but he still bugged her. She didn't mean any of this the way it might sound to Reynolds, as she spoke again, "it is dangerous...but...guess that's the benefit of him leaving tomorrow...then I don't really need to know...or care anymore." It probably sounded like that best thing to Reynold's ears, as if she didn't care now. But she said it for a reason, and it wasn't because she didn't trust Stefan, but the last remark or Reynold's got her suspicions up again so...think of it as a trick, slight of hand. She'd let him believe she was siding with him for now.

THE SergeantReynolds had to fight hard to hold back a grin, a smirk, or even a twitch at the corner of his lips. He had to keep this up. Had to get Mellina to lose her trust in Stefan, even if only a little. Even if only for one moment.. And he was! Here she was, practically admitting that he could be right! He could hear it in her voice, too; she was starting to believe it, no matter how much she didn't want to! 'Keep this up,' he thought, 'and she'll be mine in no time.'
Reynolds almost wanted to laugh at how easy this was.. He had to swallow it, get rid of that feeling completely. Days of having to hear how in love these two were, and now suddenly he was twisting her mind, bending her thoughts to however he saw fit.
"I don't like breaking your heart like this, but I refuse to just stand back and wait for you to see on your own--or worse, for you to never open your eyes to the truth." The sergeant took his hand off of her arm, instead taking her hand in his. He lifted it almost to his lips. "I've known Stefan far longer than you have.. He just isn't as trusting as you wish he could be. But you don't have to be alone for this." He paused, glancing down at the ground, acting hesitant with his words. "If you need someone to be there for you, well, then.." He looked to her again. He used his free hand to gently grab hold of her chin so he could turn her face, looking her in the eyes just as his lips softly pressed against her fingers. "I'm here." The man would have given her a soft smile if it wasn't for the fear that it would cause a chuckle or two to slip.
Mellina was so close to him.. His lips had already touched her hand. If only he could get closer.. To touch those soft lips of hers. So close.. But he had to wait. Just a little longer.

Mellina Mizu 'Yea...I'm sure you don't...' Hearing his words, about not wanting to break her heart like this. And that whole bull about opening her eyes to the truth, 'like about you...sleaze...' She was doing well enough to keep her expression changing on her since she didn't want Reynolds to know she was still...on the fence about his remarks, not believing him too much. She also had to resist slapping him when he took her hand, she had that squirmy kinda grossed out feeling wanting to yank back from him. Putting on the act like her prior replies, but gasped a little with him grabbing her chin, feeling his lips on her hand and just too close to her for comfort. Giving him some innocent little smile, blushing to add to it, "then...I guess I was lucky when you showed up here," saying softly, talking about his revealing Stefan lying. Leaning towards him, she was waiting, wanting every excuse to just knock his a** out.

THE SergeantLuckily for Mellina, Reynolds was too cocky for his own good. He couldn't see through her act, and believed every bit of it. When he saw that blush show up on her cheeks, he couldn't help smiling this time. He couldn't believe he was taking Mellina from Stefan so easily! Or so he thought. At her next words, Reynolds knew--rather, thought--his plan had come together. Now was his chance.. She was practically asking for it, right??
Looking into her eyes, the Sergeant said in a whisper, "Hmh.. You could say.. But, personally, I'd say I'm the lucky one. Lucky to have met a woman like yourself, of course.." With his hand on her chin, Reynolds leaned in and pressed his lips to the young woman's. His arms quickly wrapped around her body, holding her against his chest in hopes to make the kiss more.. passionate.

Mellina Mizu Mellina went rigid when Reynolds had finally made his move, hearing his words and being pulled in against him, her lips pressed to his. Before Reynolds got too into the kiss, some of the water from the pool had spiraled out and wrapped around Reynolds' waist yanking him back and flung him across the ground, splattering over him and basically leaving him soaked. Mellina all red in the face furious, "Ugh! I knew there was something up with you! You're despicable, trying to fill my head with all that nonsense about Stefan! And you thought I'd believe you!" Huffing, and shouting at him.

THE SergeantHaving gone this far, Reynolds mistakenly expected Mellina to accept him--even melt in his arms. He was blind, really.. In his own, cocky mind, he didn't see how she could fall for Stefan, and actually resist the Sergeant in charge. Her lips were so soft.. How he'd love to see the look on that soldier's face when Reynolds would tell him about this.. Just before putting a bullet through his chest.
He really should have expected her to retaliate. Even so, though, there was no way he could expect what she would do, or what she was even capable of. There was an odd feeling around his arm.. Before he could really react, whatever it was had pulled him away from Mellina and onto the ground. All of a sudden, he was soaked! It wasn't until then that it hit him. 'Damn it... Stefan never mentioned she had powers..!'
Reynolds got up as she shouted at him. He started to wring out the edges of his jacket. Great.. His entire uniform, wet from head to toe. He looked to her again, glaring. "Nonsense??" He quickly approached her, grabbing onto her wrist (though, he was having trouble keeping a hold on her with his gloves still wet). "Don't give me that bullsh*t. You can deny it, but you know that in your mind, you do believe me. You have no idea who you've been attaching yourself to, and at this rate, you're never going to!" The Sergeant was getting angry.. Nothing was going his way now! Even more so, how would this affect his plans for Stefan? Surely she would tell the soldier about what happened. He knew Stefan long enough to know that he usually avoided fights, but when his blood boiled hot enough, and the soldier snapped, things could get out of control very quickly. And something like this could definitely cause Stefan to snap, he knew it.

Mellina Mizu Mellina felt a bit satisfied having basically whupped his a** into the ground like that. Though gasping as he came barreling back over to her. Wincing at the grip on her wrist, though his kept slipping. Her pulse already sped up and as he shouted at her, she tried to yank her wrist back out of his grip. Face red and pissy, she couldn't help it and just suddenly slapped him across the face with her free hand. "Get your hands off of me!!! I can deny whatever I want especially coming from you! I do not and never will believe you! You're just scum!" Screaming at him, fuming.

THE SergeantAs soon as that hand made contact with his face, Reynolds stopped shouting. Well.. Only for that moment, as he tried to get over the slight shock from the impact. Afterward, it was as if his eyes were on fire. His grip on her wrist tightened as she shouted back at him. That was it. The Sergeant had had enough. Clenching his jaw and speaking through his teeth, he growled out the words, "You b**ch!" Quickly, he rose his hand and "returned the favor", you could say, with a slap of his own. At the same time, he let her wrist go, purposely knocking her to the ground. "How dare you hit me!" Before Mellina could get up, he knelt down and pinned both of her wrists to the ground. With the woman stuck on her back, and the Sergeant on his hands and knees over top of her, he smirked as he yelled, "Why don't you try that again, huh?? Go ahead! Hit me! I dare y--gack!"
Reynolds` words were suddenly cut off by the choking noise, as he was suddenly yanked up by the collar of his uniform. He was lifted to his feet--nearly choking on the way up. The next thing the Sergeant knew, a fist was slammed into one side of his face, dropping him back to the ground. "Don't you touch her!!" Standing above the Sergeant (who was silently cursing, groaning, and holding his cheek) was Stefan, who seemed to have come just in time.
Fortunately, Mellina and Reynolds had been so loud, they had actually woken the soldier up. Of course, curiosity got the best of him, and when he looked out of the window, he had seen just what was going on. Stefan knelt beside Mellina, softly touching her cheek, worriedly. "Mellina, are you alright?? I'm so sorry. I should have gotten here sooner.. No, I should have gotten rid of him sooner." He helped her to her feet, then gave her a soft kiss on the forehead. "Now go inside.. I don't want you to have to see what I'm going to do to this b*****d." His voice became angrier as he turned to look at Reynolds, who was wobbling to his feet. The two were glaring daggers at each other. This was exactly what Reynolds was afraid of, but now it was starting to seem that there was no choice but to go through with the plan now.
