Masa ignores her sudden feeling of awkwardness and begins to move around the kitchen. She suddenly remembers something she had to make for her "mother" and gathers the ingredients with a little more confidence than usual. She sets everything she needs by the stove and starts cooking.

Lazarus's eyes perk up when he sees that Masa seems to actually be cooking something, and he leans forward in his chair. "Whatcha makin?" he asks her and looks over the ingredients she had taken out.

"M-masa making noodles and cheese. "Mother" always made Masa make it. Masa could never eat it though. Masa wanted to. Noodles and cheese always seemed good to eat"
She moves around the kitchen with an ease you wouldn't expect from her. She even begins humming a little as she forgets she is being watched. It's very quiet humming though.

Lazarus just keeps smiling at Masa and walks over to her so he can watch over her shoulder (not literally). "I love cheese... Mind if I try it?" he asks and leans against one of the walls.

She suddenly stops humming as starts blushing.
"S-sure. Laz can try it Masa guesses..."
She got a plate and out a few scoops of the noodle and cheese on it for him.

"No one has ever called me Laz before," he comments and sniffs the "noodles and cheese." "You seem very unique... I kinda like it." He grabs a fork and takes a small bite of the food Masa had prepared for them. "Mmm... Yep, you're a genius," he says with a wink and eats more.

Masa becomes confused by the kind words and turns back to the cooking. She blushes at his wink and nervously grabs a plate for herself. She begins eating with timidity as she remembers the only time she tried to eat real food.
"Masa can eat this, right Laz?
She thinks he is okay with the new nickname and decides to test it out more.

"Laz" nods politely and tilts his head a little, slightly confused, but brushes it off. "Of course you can eat it," he says. "You made it, didn't you?" He starts eating the noodles faster, with barely enough time between bites to talk.

Masa begins to eat slowly, afraid she might get in trouble. She falls in love with the taste and eats faster than Laz.

Lazarus watches her scarf down the food wide-eyed and chuckles a little bit. "And people say I eat fast," he comments. "Why are you eating so fast?"

"Masa thinks this taste good. Masa never gets anything that taste good. Masa gets it taken away." She explains as she licks her plate clean of all remaining food.

Lazarus smiles and finishes his own food about a minute after Masa does. "I'm sorry you had to go through all that," he says and hugs her again. "You're safe with us. We don't let the innocent get hurt."

"Masa not innocent. Masa bad only. Masa knows so." She awkwardly hugs back, unsure how hugs go. She just knows it makes her feel warm and good. She blushes because she is so close to a guy.

Lazarus frowns, grabs Masa by the shoulders, and makes her look him in the eyes. "I can tell by looking at you," he says, "You aren't bad. I'm sure you have a kind heart." He punctuates his sentence with a smile and another hug.
