Riley turned when she heard Christof's voice, and gave him a sad expression. Sorry, Christof. My memory remains missing. I will take what I can get.

But when Barth responded, he seemed so content to hear that she was tired. She'd assumed he was just going to get angry for wanting on the horse, but instead..

Are you inviting me to join your club? That's odd. I thought you didn't like me.

Perhaps there were memories she'd missed. Memories only she would have had. For all she knew, Barth and her were secretly friends.

.. So can I get on the horse?

But she never waited for the answer, because she could hear Malodore's voice. She couldn't see it, but she knew the general direction it was coming from. Ah, we've found everyone, yes? Malodore is right. We should move. I would give a suggestion, but the last time I did that.. we ended up here. Her face lifted slightly in amusement. So someone else, this time.

Calder perked when he saw Christof come by, hand holding Amrita's, and the kelpie beamed. "Amrita! You're safe!" He was glad she was here with them, which meant now all they had to do was escape. Rising up, she moved over to nuzzle the undead ghoul and whisper into her ear. "I was so worried." He couldn't have anyone missing in his life when he felt that even a small piece would make his little world fall apart. He didn't have much to hold onto that what he did have made him feel all the more tense if it was put in danger.

Looking up above the rest of them, Calder looked off and tried to make out the lights Malodore was seeing. Maybe the googles helped with seeing.

Glancing at the group, Calder remembered that Riley said she was tired, which meant everyone else was probably exhausted. Lowering back down, the mare waited. "Everyone..." Calder was a bit hesitant, but this was an emergency. He could trust them. They were his friends. "Get on."

Malodore blinked. "If you are quite sure...? I would not wish to overburden you, my friend." It approached Calder's side warily, as if it weren't quite sure what to do once it was actually there. It was rather pointy, after all, and Calder's flesh looked soft and scratchable.

A high whinny came out as Calder laughed. "Burden? I've carried minipets on my back thicker than you." She smiled as much as a horse could, and looked down. "It will be fine. You are no burden to me, and I wouldn't be much of a kelpie if I wasn't made of thicker stuff."

"Oh, I wouldn't say dislike. We err, seem to end up at odds with each other. Regularly."

He was currently relaxed where Calder had put him, claws folded loosely around Calder's neck.

There hadn't been room in Calder's arms, admittedly, but there was room now-

"Calder, I wish you wouldn't over- err, tax yourself," he said, avoiding the word work. He hesitated, "If we're going to be chasing lights, I suppose we might as well be doing it with the advantage of numbers."

Well. She didn't need a handwritten invitation. If the mare herself had invited her on, that was enough for her. Riley heard Malodore's hesitation, and slid her hands around the plague doctors waist, giving it a quick squeeze before she gently lifted it up.

Malodore weighs less than a minipet. She informed Calder, before moving to sit behind Mal herself. I appreciate this, Calder. I will remember your assistance.

If Malodore was worried about being bony, Riley would solve all of its problems. Once she was settled behind the plague doctor, she wrapped both of her arms around its waist again, and pulled it close. Now, it was more on her lap, than the pony itself.

She rested her head on Malodore's shoulder, looking past him to give Barth a pleased expression. So. Tell me more about your club.

"It meets next to yours, actually," Barth said, adjusting slightly, a little embarrassed at the sudden closeness, "It's a sort of wellness-advocacy group. Christof," he said, his voice a smidge higher-pitched, "do you see any lights? We're going to go wisp-watching, apparently."

Calder turned her head at Barth's concern. "I won't. Don't worry. In the end, just think of this meaning that less people are doing any work and get to relax a bit." Calder knew how to spin things by now, and hoped that Barth would approve of this thought better than the one where he worried Calder was working too hard. You couldn't have others relax without someone else working after all. "I just need to be pointed in the right direction."

Calder looked to Barth and then Mal. "Who's telling me where to go?"

There was definitely not enough room left on the Kelpie for Christof's girth, but the slender figure of Amrita... before the ghoul could protest, she was carefully hefted up and safely tucked amongst the others*. That done he shifted, glancing at once to Barth, his eyes brightening up at the sound of that calmly commanding voice.

Lights. Lights- LIGHTS! "Hooooh!" He tapped beside his eye and pointed through the fog. He might not have been the best conversationalist, but his eyes worked well enough.

I see something.... a bluish light... and a warm light. Tell them, Mistress... there may be more, can you see them? He mentally reported to Riley, hoping she could translate better in the fog that way rather than murky flailing sign language.

Malodore made a vaguely affronted noise at the less than a minipet comment, but its ruffled dignity was more than soothed by Riley's embrace. It was rather odd, all being piled on Calder's back like this; it had never ridden a living creature before, other than the few times Riley had carried it. And that wasn't the same thing.

Odd - not unpleasant.

"One light seems warmer than the other," it observed, after a moment. It had the quality that the plague doctor vaguely associated with flame, but that didn't mean it was fire, or was automatically to be feared... or so Malodore hoped. "Perhaps there? There is nothing of warmth about the fog, so approaching its opposite might lead to a way out."

No one else seemed to be offering any suggestions, so it was safe to say they were headed towards the warm light. The fire in the distance looked inviting, but the horseman with a weapon did not. Still, they weren't attacking, so it was safe to say they were in safe, or at least neutral, territory.

Whether or not this was their destination yet remained to be seen. Riley knew too little about the horsemen to trust them enough to hang around for too long.

Calder had mixed feelings about the horsemen, but a fire was welcoming as she moved closer, Christof at her side while the rest saddled on her back. The weapon caused her to reel back, taking a few steps backwards before they horsemen lowered their weapon and gestured to their camp. As much as numbers were a type of security, Calder didn't feel safe with them.

Moving to the camp, she turned her head and then lowered slightly. "If you want to get off, you can. I think I might look around." Horsemen camps made her testy.

Malodore slid off of Calder's back - not difficult, given that Riley had been holding it sidesaddle, so to speak. "Grazie... it seems we have found a sort of sanctuary..." It looked at the light, frowning inwardly. It did not entirely trust the Horsemen. Individually, perhaps, but as a group? No.

But what other choice did they have?

It glanced back at the allegedly welcoming fire, then out at the fog. "I think I might venture a little further out, to see what else there may be. There were more lights, were there not? Perhaps some of them are from Amityville..." It turned around, holding one claw up to Riley. "Will you go within, mia cara?" It left the option of accompanying it unspoken. Really, it would almost feel better if she went into the camp... just a little bit.

Her gaze remained very firmly on Malodore, as it slid off of Calder. She followed almost instantly, but turned to settle Amrita better behind Barth, so that there was no chance of her falling off until she decided what she wanted to do. When she turned, she was relieved to see that Malodore had not disappeared into the fog within the few brief moments she'd looked away. The question was laughable. She grabbed the claw that pointed at her, and took the rest of the plague doctors hand as well. Once she had a firm hold, she felt more comfortable looking away. Turning back to the group, she nodded at Calder.

I think we are in agreement. That is not our destination. Try not to wander too far, but exploration is the right choice. If we found this.. it's obvious we can find our own camps. She gave the other three a wave, before following Malodore into the fog.

When she turned back to it, her eyes slit just slightly in amusement. As if I would leave you. She whispered in a chuckle.

"Be safe," Malodore said to the others, squeezing Riley's hand with a mixture of gratitude and misgiving - it honestly couldn't say which feeling was predominant. But she had made her choice, and it would not deny her. It couldn't possibly deny her.

The plague doctor took a few steps into the fog, gaze narrowing a bit behind the lenses. In those steps, the fog swirled between them and the camp, seemingly extinguishing the light - but that wasn't what Malodore was focused on. A faint sound pricked the edge of its hearing. A sound like...

"Do you hear that? It sounds like music..." It closed its eyes, then opened them again - and made a startled noise. In the time its eyes had been shut, the fog had somehow swirled into a world of carnival booths, shadowy and soft-edged but still unmistakable, as if someone who had never truly seen a carnival had tried to draw one and ended up with something almost but not quite right.

"... tell me you are seeing this too, per favore..."
