"Actually, I'm pretty sure there are a few here with second languages." Lex laid out his cards, smiling as he did, even if he'd just lost a good amount of 'chips'. "I know we have at least on native French speaker in the program. She lives up to her heritage."
If you caught his drift.

Jerry stiffened in his seat, his expression suddenly going dangerous, and his eyes were locked on Lex.
He only knew of one "Native French speaker".
And he did not know what she had been up to since their argument.
Clearly, she hadn't missed him one bit, nor regretted her decision.
What hand wasn't holding his cards tightened into a fist on the bed.
Poker face.
At least his expression did not reflect his cards.

Jordan picked up his cards again and studied them. Not a bad hand. Could be better, but it was decent. He separated several nickels from the small pile in front of him and pushed them in.
He didn't miss the way Jerry went still at Lex's words, and it didn't take a genius to guess what he might be thinking. "There's a Russian here, too," he put in, attempting to steer the subject back to languages. "Actually, I wonder where he is, I haven't seen him for a few weeks."

Rep eyed his hand critically. "Nope." He stated coolly as he put the cards face down on the table.
The others got a thoughtful look. "People who couldn't speak English would have a ******** hard time of missions and other day to day s**t. They'd probably get killed off easier." Even speaking English there was still sometimes when he was at a bit of a loss as to what people meant about s**t.
"I don't miss everything that went with home. Sometimes I miss the place."

A penny flicked off Robert's face. His reflex check had failed. He merely waggled his eyebrows at Jordan, before picking up some cards and holding them up to his face. There was small talk going on, and he was steadily ignoring it like a boss. Men played poker in silent, goddamnit. These ******** pussies weren't playing poker, they were having a tea party.
He regretted dragging Rep into it. He was teapartying enough.
"Guys, all this conversation is making me want to read Little Women. I mean french kissing? Can we take a break to let the boys go back to their dorms and pick up their balls from wherever they left them?"
HE WAS A CHARMER.

Melvin examined a chip before eating it, hearing Robert bash the current conversation. It's wasn't anything they couldn't talk outside of poker, but it wasn't a welcomed insult either. "Okay, Robert. Direct the conversation. I give you the baton."

"How about we stick to the cards?" Jerry grumbled, his usual sparkle flushed down the toilet with his mood.

"No no, shut the ******** up Jerry, I'll do it." Robert gave Melvin a big, toothy grin, before waggling his eyebrows. "Here's a question that doesn't make me want to knit a scarf and bake some cookies. Who was the very first person you ever jacked off thinking of? And don't you dare ******** lie and say you didn't, because I will come over and put my fist through your face until you are the epitome of that phrase, eyes in the back of your head."
That would have been an impressive usage of a word, for Robert! Except that he pronounced it 'epitomb', instead of the correct 'epi-to-me'.
He tried so hard.
And got so far.
But in the end.
He'll still beat Melvin's face in.

Jerry's face suddenly went bright red. At least the topic had been successfully changed.
"Audrey Hepburn." He squeaked supportively.

Rep stared at Robert for a while, trying to get his head around how the conversation had gone into the realms of about as gay as it was possible for a bunch of men playing cards in an infirmary to be.
He knew little to nothing of celebrities though and didn't even have a television in his house most of the time - so found himself much less willing to contribute, he even missed who the others were talking about. There were some things he was just a buzzkill on. "No one you'd know and none of your ********' business." he snarled.

Melvin thought about this for a moment, before he played up a shrug. "Patty Milton." He said, naming a girl from one of his classes who had developed a little early in the year. No one would know her, and it was better than saying Marina Sirtis, which he was sure someone would google later on.

Leon flicked at the corner of his cards, peeking at the edge and found jack crap.
"I fold." he said with disdain and slid the cards away. the topic of discussion in the gentlemen's club was more fitting. "That would have to be Fatima Moreira De Melo, she plays field hockey and can touch my balls anytime she wants." he mentioned with a smirk before taking another sun chip and chewing on it like a normal person.
It was a frightening sight to behold.
