The screams got louder as the energy drain ripped her body apart. It was literally destroying her internal mechanisms. Floodgates that inhibited the flow of energy were ripped open as she tried to hold on to her energy. The violet light wrapped around the Devourer's claws and superheated them. Arin's body was on fire. Literally. Her voice echoed over the battlefield, and she could no longer struggle. Her eyes were wide open as she saw the Devourer's tail raise, a gleaming, twenty-foot blade shining in the sunlight. It had a terrible clarity to it, and it seemed to take years as it moved toward Arin, whistling as it sliced through the air. She screamed and thrashed, but she was helpless against the monster's outstanding strength.
She looked for Aki. She looked for Rota. She looked for Zyke. She could have been hallucinating in her terror, but she found his eyes. Two black tears fell from her own as a flash of movement so fast that only Zyke and Arin could have watched it with any clarity left Arin unable to breathe, a massive blade through her midsection. The last few breaths that she took were the panicked, quick things of the man on the chopping block. Her eyes widened as the impossibly large blade pierced her through, taking her from waist to sternum and skewering her.
And then her body arched back, her mouth open in a silent scream as she exploded into a violet light --escaping from her exposed muscles, her eyes, her mouth-- before all of the energy was consumed, leaving the air around the site distorted from the heat rolling off the white-hot metal of the Devourer's tail, and its claws. The claws opened to lower from Arin's body, and what appeared to be her seared corpse hung lifeless from the tail, still impaled. The Devourer shook it's tail and sent what was left of the Queen unceremoniously flying, to land and roll through the crater she had left behind before turning its attention elsewhere.
She was a powerless husk of what she had once been. She wasn't moving. She wasn't breathing (in all fairness, her diaphragm was probably not intact). She just lay there, limp, her wide, black eyes still open, and the stain of a single black tear on each of her cheeks.

With ease Zyke used his blade to parry the feeble attacks of the Concul aside. These things couldn't match him in a bout of strength or skill in combat. Using the parries to his advantage, Zyke opened a hole in the Concul's defense. A clear and beautiful path leading straight to the Concul's heart presented itself to Zyke's trained eye, which he took advantage of without a second thought. In a flash the Concul saw it's blade fly wide of it's course towards the enemies chest and a pain shot quickly through it's chest. It looked down in shock at the blade sticking out it's front, dropping both the sword and shield it wielded to the ground as it grabbed at the blade in it's chest. With a hard pull, the Concul removed the blade from it's chest, Zyke having had released it and stepped back to watch his opponent die, and stared as blood poured forth from it's chest. The defeated Concul slumped over and fell, laying down to rest in a puddle of it's own blood.
Without a word Zyke walks forward to the corpse on the ground, reaching down to retrieve his fallen foe's blade, and also the shield it had been using. Strapping the shield to his forearm, leaving his hand open to grab with. The weight of it was relatively little, less than he expected, and the thought of having a little extra defense was appealing to him.
As Zyke scanned for more cowards to fight, Arin landed on the ground amongst the crowds of Orsan and Consul that had gathered to gawk at her from her rather grand entrance. She landed, her aura of Phoenix ki radiating like a torch off of her. A Concul in regal looking robes steps forward, spewing forth words of the coming of new gods and the symbol of the change of times and the prosperity to come. His rather moving and gallant speech was quickly cut short as he stepped within Arin's aura, instantly being incinerated, his ashes blowing away in the wind. Everything stood still for a moment as what just happened sank into the minds of the people. After just that moment though, chaos broke loose as panic spread like wildfire throughout the crowds.
Orsans began to throw themselves at Arin in an attempt to avenge their fallen priest, one of the only Concul Zyke had seen to be worthy of any sort of respect so far. They all started to burst into ashes, but their frenzy pushed them forward, Orsans proving themselves to be the more honorable of the two races in Zyke's eyes.

Arin leaped forward and into a frenzy of slaughter, absolutely butchering the poor Orsans that rebelled at her for the death of their priest. Zyke could feel the tinge of trouble ripple up his spine as he watched the Leader of Tenkuu no Houou began to ravage the population of Orsans above. Reaching down to the corpse of the fallen Concul, he picked up the sheathe for the blade and sheathed his weapon. Looking up again to see the progress, more Orsans dead at a ridiculous pace, Zyke sprinted full speed up the walkways of the underground city. The progress he was making was too minimal for his tastes. Planting his foot on the side railing of the walkway, Zyke pushed himself up and over, launching up towards the next walkway up the way, skipping the run all together and deciding to jump the gap. Landing on the railing there, he spun immediately, launching himself again to the next walkway up from there. Repeating the process over and over again, Zyke cleared the city with relatively great speed, arriving up at the top in a matter of seconds. His feet landed on gray, bland soil. He spun, watching Arin on the other side slaughter the inhabitants of the village she had landed in.
Zyke watched in disbelief as she ripped these people into pieces, literally. He knew she had problems, but this was too far in his book. But he knew he could do nothing about it right now, especially with no ki. Zyke turned and saw Conculs fleeing into the distance. He had a vendetta with these cowards and he intended to teach him the folly of their ways. Besides, Zyke needed to get his anger out someway. He sprinted full speed after the retreating Concul, death on his mind.

Lite was previously moving as fast as he could towards Arin's visible Ki, but when the being appeared from the sky, he had to stand in awe for a bit. It was larger than anything he had ever seen before! he regained his composure when he saw his mom charging head first towards the beast. he kept pace with her, and heard her orders. upon hearing them, and seeing her gather her energy, he rushed towards where he last saw his Auntie's light, and saw her flayed body. at first, it sickened him, seeing a member of his 'family' in such a state. next, it hungered him as in carnivore instincts rose to the surface. the kill would be so easy, and she would never know. besides, it is an eat or be eaten world out there. he managed to come to his senses and cradle her gingerly in his arms. he looked around for a bit, and saw the man he was looking for. Arin was dimly aware of what was happening outside her body. She wanted to escape. She could feel herself moving, but her thoughts were in time with the tectonic motions of the earth. She was moving a second a minute. Everything was moving so slowly in her mind that the world outside her was a blur. Gray. Blue. Gray. Brown. Gray... Dark Gray... Arin couldn't even close her own eyes. There was nothing she could do to fight the unfeeling blur that moved in front of her eyes. It really wasn't anything too horrible. She couldn't get motion sick like this. At least it wasn't happening. Of course, it could just be that her mind hadn't registered the sick yet. In this state, though, it didn't matter. Nothing did. Her body made vicious battle with the toxin, but she wasn't going anywhere. Her mind had already shut down. If she was capable, she might have been happy of her coming death. It would be a release from the day-to-day pain that consumed her. She could remember very few times that pain did not make her. And now it could unmake her. She didn't want to fight it.

In a different world, Lite was running past the door to a village cabin when an arm reached out to grab him. In a world of gray and brown, this arm was vivid red, dripping in blood as if misted in the stuff. The woman held him fast in a grip that belied a hidden strength. Her black eyes bored holes in Lite's. "Give her to me if you want her to live." The woman didn't want to have to fight to take the child-God, but she would be willing to if she had to. The child-God was the only one who had a chance to defeat the Devourer. She could hardly believe that the stories were true. For some time she had imagined that He was a fool, senile in age... But this seemed to be the first sign that she was wrong. It was unbelievable that so much power resided in such a small creature... And if she wasn't tended to immediately, the Child-God would be gone forever.
Arin lay, limp, uncaring to the events outside --or even inside-- her body. The toxin was ravaging her system, and for all outward appearances --save the faintest beating of her heart, visible through the exposed muscle of her chest-- she was dead. If there were a doctor in the area, this would be the perfect method to document every muscle and tendon in the saiyan body.

Lite felt the grip on his arm, and could feel the blood staining his fur. when he looked into the eyes of this...lady...thing, he felt fear well up inside of him. It was then that he remembered what his dad taught him: honor, and courtesy. he swallowed his fear. "I'm sorry lady, really, but I can't just give you Auntie Arin.If you know a place she'll be safe, I can help you bring her there, though." Lite didn't want to fight like this. Auntie Arin was already too injured as it is. He couldn't think of what more fighting would do to her in this state.

Arin's body moved even less in Lite's arms, her heartbeat now slow enough to kill a human, and weak enough that it was a miracle it was moving blood at all --though you could see the blood moving in exposed veins-- It really was a unique opportunity. Most people didn't survive getting to this point, let alone survive recovery. With the loss of her flesh, Arin had lost almost fifteen pounds, and if possible, the woman looked even smaller and frailer than before. It was unclear what would make her do this to herself, but there wasn't much time to wonder that, as she wasn't likely to make it much longer. Just the risk of infection by the alien lifeforms on this planet was enough to put her life in peril.
"We don't have time for this. Fine." She went to the wall of the city and jumped onto a ramp that led into the earth, made of smooth, slick stone that disappeared into blackness as it took them, sliding ever faster to the bottom of the city in record time. At the bottom was a slow taper to even ground that brought you to a halt, which the woman met on her feet, turning to look for the striped interloper. It took some level of practice to slide down the mile long chute without burning yourself from the small amounts of friction that built up --conculs couldn't take the chute at all, due to their size-- but an Orsan's eyes allowed them to pick up the glow of the minerals in the walls, which gave them a sense of direction and allowed them the comfort of foreknowledge during the smooth ride.

Lite diligently followed the woman, and saw the ramp. Lite saw how the woman slid down the chute, and decided to try and do it faster. he took his shoes off one step at a time, and stuffed them into his pockets. He hit the ramp sliding on his feet angled like a surfer. he did his best to maintain balance with Arin in his arms, and inside a bit, he suppressed the want to have fun. The twists and turns were smooth as silk, and reminded him of the forests of Nexum a tiny bit. feeling like he wouldn't be able to land safely at the break neck speed he was going, and decided to fly. he was near the bottom of the ramp, and flew off of it, maintaining momentum and elevation at high velocity right past the lady. Now being eye level with her, he looked behind him at her."How much farther lady?"

Arin's blood seemed to be reluctant to let her die. Her heart gave an extra beat, and the battlefield that her white blood cells were fighting on got a little cleaner. It seemed that while her mind had given up, her body was intent on surviving. It was a small miracle that her heart was even beating. This power that she had was a double-edged sword. It would be easier if she could just die... So much easier... She still lay motionless in Lite's arms, and inside her mind she seemed reluctant to proceed toward anything identifiable as thought. It was lucky that she was not bleeding, if you can call it that. The wound had been seared shut by the immense amount of heat produced by the reaction.
"Thirty cycles." She walked to a tunnel that ran horizontal through the wall, a deep, circular hole about two feet in diameter. She rolled a large stone cylinder into a groove that sat before the tunnel, which ran in both directions. There were several cylinders standing against the wall, each seven feet tall. "Do for her as I do." The Orsan bent down and pressed a stone square the size of her palm that allowed her to open the upper half of the cylinder, which hinged open to present the outside of an acute angle to the tunnel. She climbed into the container and pushed another button inside the cylinder, causing a section to push outward toward the wall. Once it got close to the tunnel, a sucking sound was heard, as wind through a high window, and slowly the vehicle moved toward the opening, before the bottom was flush with the wall, and it shot out of sight as the volcanic vents in the tunnel worked their magic. It was a gigantic air pressure powered transportation system.

Lite was reluctant to put Arin in one of those tube things, and just trust her to the lady. Though, desperate times and all that. He set her down gently, grabbed a cylinder off the wall, repeating the process that he was shown.He picked Arin up and laid he in the tube, pressing the internal button that the lady pushed. he watched his auntie rocket off to an unknown location, and waited a few seconds before repeating the process for himself. being awake in the tube was claustrophobic. the benefit of a bacta tanks was that he was always unconscious, but here, he was fully aware.and it bugged him. this was nowhere as fun as that slide would have been.

Arin's body was recovering at a rate that would make any saiyan proud. But her mind was still being tormented by the toxic chemicals. There was now not even gray in her mind, but black. Pure and simple. A thought had been forming in her mind's eye this whole time, it seemed, slowly coming into focus. It would have seemed instant to her, but the vast amount of time it had taken to become a conscious image was mind-numbing. She continued to form the image, trying to remember why she wanted to survive at all. The effort was superhuman, but the results were invisible. She had almost annihilated the poison, her heart slowly gaining cadence as she rocketed underground.
The Orsan woman clenched her fists. Patience was something that something that she had in spades... But this addition to the group was less than optimal. She watched as Orsa's heartbeat pulsed all around her, the the veins of ore in the vessel and the tunnel, slowly climbing to a bright light and disappearing back into a dim coloration. The Orsan homeworld was only colorless to the ones who visited. Every mineral in the world gave an energy that the Orsa could see. It was one reason that they all possessed some skill with metal; it would be like working with wood if you were raised in a forest. It's something you pick up from something you see every day. Every orsan blade shone with the color of the ore they used, and it was a mark of pride --one of the few such displays that were allowed-- to possess a blade that was a pure metal, and shone only the color that you chose. Each pulse of the planet traveled from the core, along the veins of ore, and rippled through the earth. It was the only regular event that occurred on Orsa, and so they set their time by it. Every --roughly five second-- cycle was set by the brightest point in the continuing fluctuation. A thirty cycle trip would take two and a half Standard minutes.

Arin was at the cusp of forming a coherent thought, though it still eluded her. It was a recollection that seemed so important that even while her heart was so close to stopping she was marching ever toward it. Time meant nothing in this state. Which was lucky, because she had a habit of getting enraged when she was unable to do something. But then, she seemed to have a habit of becoming enraged when she could do something. Really, Arin just has anger issues. As the vehicle was driven through the tunnels, Arin's body remained still, which was a blessing, as too much movement may very well injure her further.
As soon as the capsule arrived --a smooth, uneventful slide to a halt-- the Orsan jumped out, and kicked her cylinder out of the groove, ignoring the looks that she got from the conductor. This was a very unexpected visit, and an Orsan does not simply use the private transportation system against schedule. Especially looking the way that she did. "The time of the Devourer is upon us. I need to see the Smith. Now." She turned back and punched the button to open Arin's capsule. She considered leaving the boy, but she knew that it would be harder to leave him here. If he had any extra-ordinary abilities and he used them, it would lure the Devourer here. She cradled Arin's body in her arms as the Conductor went to the wall and pressed a hidden --even to Orsan eyes-- panel that opened the wall to reveal a secret tunnel. He saw the corpse in the woman's arms and his mouth dropped open as he backed away. "Did I mention that the need was dire?" An Orsan woman covered in blood and gore, a strange child, with every ounce of flesh flayed from her body... What's next? Aliens covered in spikes?
The Conductor's station had the benefit of being of no interest to the Conculs. They could not fit in the private transportation system (an ancient relic) and merely used it to transport supplies from city to city, while they preferred to run on the surface or through their own tunnels. The Smith hid deep below the surface, within an underground village secreted away from knowledge. It had begun as a safe haven in ancient times.. But now it was merely a haven for the outcast and the forgotten. Which was how the Smith preferred it. The only people who knew of the place were the Conductor and anyone who had already been there. The advantage of being Orsan in all this? Only an Orsan could find it.
the woman turned and waited for the child to show up.

Lite felt himself slide to a halt. he had spent some time during the trip familiarizing himself with the buttons inside the tube. he opened his cylinder, and saw the woman holding Arin. he slipped his shoes on quickly. "Alright, where to?"
