He didn't understand but how could she hope for him to. She was broken in every sense of the word. True her body was mostly intact but it bore the scars of her time on the Hunter's island and didn't even work the way she wanted it to. Time might be able to fix it but it was hard to say. Even internally she felt like something was off but she wasn't entirely sure of the extent of the damage she had undergone. She had been out and reawakened to immense pain so there was no telling what all had been done to her.

Her mind was an entirely different matter, her thoughts ran wild and beyond her control. Flashes of images and memories were there filling her mind with worry, dread and fear. She might have survived...but did she really? In a way she had escaped and in another she was still there. The overly bright white room with a window that gave her no view. Silence beyond the occasional beep through the mic. There had been nothing there, not even the presence of time as Mitsu sat and waited alone.

Her eyes had began to grow dull and distant like she was in a trance or daydream but she quickly reached for Shun's hand and gave it a squeeze. He might have thought he was doing nothing, had done nothing, but his memory had kept her going. Their happy times together had helped keep her from falling into utter despair and even now he was her anchor on reality. If only she could tell him. She couldn't even tell him the circumstances behind her return.

Mitsu made quick work of wrapping the sheet back around herself, bringing it over her head just as Shun began to lift her chin. Her gaze turned up to meet his as he came closer pressing his lips against her own in a kiss. It took her a moment but slowly she closed her eyes and leaned into him pressing into the kiss that she had missed for weeks.

He had pulled away to speak and while her eyes were focused on his mouth she could barely register his voice. Her fingers came up to touch his lips before leaning in for another kiss silencing him for talking any further. It was such a simple means of affection but it touched her on a deeper level than words ever could.

Her movements were a little awkward, almost like they were in the beginning, but Mitsu pressed into him as he deepened the kiss until she finally had to break for air. From there she leaned against his chest and while she was on the floor she was comfortable glad to finally be able to touch her reaper again. She had missed him.

The night passed quietly and at some point they had made it back to the bed where Mitsu still sat staring toward the window. It was still a wonder to her to see the sky change from night to twilight, something she had taken for granted. She turned toward Shun for a moment, peeling her eyes away from the window. He hadn't slept either, in fact, it didn't look like he had slept in a while. Reaching toward him she lightly touched just under his tired looking eyes before gesturing to the bed. He should sleep.

Mitsu frowned, concern etching her face but when he mentioned she hadn't slept either she pointed toward the window. She had wanted to watch the sky, something she had been deprived of for weeks. True it was from a window but it was closer than it had been before. She had been trapped in the basement deep underground with no hope of seeing the light unless Candace took her outside.

When he looked her over she shifted slightly, grabbing for the blankets on the bed when he mentioned getting her out of the hospital gown. Her expression was nervous and she shook her head pulling the blankets up toward her. She didn't want to see the damage herself, it was only a terrible reminder of where she had been.

Don't be so sure Shun. Don't be so sure. The right hat, a belt, a jacket, and maybe some pants and this hospital gown was fashion.....okay Mitsu didn't know much about fashion but she still wasn't all that eager to remove the last veil she had that hid whatever damaged remained. She looked sheepishly around the room for a solution, her ears drooping when she came up with nothing.

Sighing she looked toward him again with a defeated gaze, clutching her blanket close. She then implemented the only weapon in her arsenal. Her eyes got large and glassy, ears falling back against her head. She cocked her head just slightly to give herself a pitiful look and threw puppy eyes at him in full force.

Puppy eyes disengaged. Mitsu looked to her hands that clutched the blanket mouthing the word 'scared.' She didn't want to know, she didn't want to see. There was a part of her that screamed she wasn't ready. Most of all she didn't want to relive what happened by seeing the marks that remained.

Closing her eyes she let the blanket drop to her lap. She seemed so defeated in her posture but likely she wasn't going to win this. Sooner or later she was going to have to face it but she just had to wonder why that had to be now. Couldn't it wait for another week or so? She could bath with the gown on that was close enough right?

The blanket was pulled from her grasp and Mitsu did what she could to keep from grabbing for it. Her hands twitched nervously before coming back so that her arms could wrap around herself in a tight hug. She wanted to run and hide but she had to tell herself to be brave. Shun was just trying to help, he wanted to see so that he knew what to do. He wasn't going to mock her or turn away from her. He had scars of his own. She just needed to be brave.

But her bravery had been used up while she was on the island. Mitsu panicked at the last second and jolted out of bed. She wavered on her feet at first, her arms still wrapped around her middle. She mouthed the words 'I'm sorry' over and over again as she backed up and headed toward her bathroom.
