I'll have to recheck my sources. When I took my lactation courses, it was a major part of the discussion.
Of course we were examining the causes of multiple duct infections so that had something to do with the research too. I know definitely there is a direct correlation to mastitis and plugged ducts with underwires, and even carrying heavy backpacks. The backpack issue tends to be axillary (side boob) infections, from the weight on the duct. The correlation to tumors may stem from the multiple infections and scar tissue with breastfeeding though. Lemme traipse to the attic when I'm allowed to lift boxes again and pull out my old textbooks.

chinotenshi LeRaven I feel like chino is going to stab me but I still have at least 1 bra still from the 7th grade which I'm actually wearing right now.... ( so....almost a 8 year old bra? LOL) it's still in good shape though, no poking wires, no nothing. I'm not concerned about wires, I'm worried about the band. Can you fit more than 2 fingers (vertically) under your band comfortably? If so, your band is overstretched and isn't giving you any support. the amount of booby knowledge you have is sort of frightening.

Tumors/cancer may be a side effect of other problems caused by underwires, but I have yet to hear of a direct correlation. If you find anything, let me know! I'll do a bit of googling on my own, too.

I bit of googling has gotten me this. It's a "pseudo-study" that claimed that bras = higher risk of cancer, however the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society both say it's crap and doesn't scientifically support the idea that wearing a bra can give you a higher risk of cancer. A lot of other sites I've found with quotes from doctors who think bras cause cancer, all show quotes that would result in women wearing bras that don't properly fit or support. I've seen several quotes saying women, especially larger breasted women, should wear looser fitting bras and bra straps to reduce the chance of cancer and headaches. ******** THAT. If I wore a bra any looser than I do now, I'd have ******** migraines all the ******** time from the weight on the straps. And I don't even have boobs that are that huge!

Let it be known. I did not say cancer, but tumors. They can be benign as well. Just thought I'd clarify.

It's true. ANd why this convo is not on facebook. LOL
I have a couple of her friends on my friends list so I can keep an eye on them and make sure they aren't doing anything I wouldn't want my kid doing. I have to make sure they are only acquaintances so I can post stuff about her without them seeing LOL.
She gets soooo mad when I post about her on FB.

I know I would be pissed if my mother posted things about me at her age. xD Thank god Facebook didn't exist back then, but my mother wouldn't have used it anyway.

Yeah I've had some kind of benign crap in my tits for years now. If you pinch the n****e or squeeze the tit wrong I get sticky, cloudy yellow discharge.
I had to go in for a check up and a mammogram when I first noticed it. Lol I had to milk it out onto a slide for them to look at, and then get my tit squished.
They said it's benign and there were no cancerous cells in the slide and nothing worrysome in the mammogram.
And because my tits are all stretched out like deflated balloon animals, she was able to squish it down as much as she wanted.
"This doesn't hurt? This is excellent compression. Most women can't handle this much! I'm going to get a great image." She asked as she was cranking the glass down.

If you squeeze a n****e, fluid will come out. Because...they are designed to do that, even if there is no baby. It's what adoptive breastfeeding is based off of. The only time it is worrisome is when there is fluid that comes out unprompted. And until a certain point it will be yellowish, as it's basically the components of colostrum.

It freaked me out because it had never happened before. I'd always heard that if it happened while doing an exam, to schedule an appointment to talk to your doctor to make sure it was nothing serious.
also I'd hate to see the s**t my mother would have posted about me.
"Today, Jaime told me she wants to live with her dad because she hates living here. Happy Mothers Day."
Yeah I did that to my mom on mother's day when I was 11.
or
"Today, Jaime said "******** you." to me. I slapped her across the face and sent her to her room. Pretty sure she kicked a hole in the door, as she spent about 5 minutes screaming like a banshee and cussing. She's now blasting music so loud the walls are shaking. I'm in my room crying. It all started when I asked about her math homework."
Also a fairly common occurance.

You don't squeeze your nipples during a breast exam though. confused
And yeah, that sounds like my kid. You two would get along smashingly.
