Tenshi followed with him, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword as it usually was. He looked down at his kimono. Well it looked like he had been in a fight, but maybe the Otokage would feel... impressed with the fact? He wasn't sure what to expect exactly, but he was sure to be awed. It was exciting to see a new place, and though he wanted to run around the port city, to see the sights, he had a job to do. "I suppose you have a point."

Kina gave a slight sigh as her friends seemed to see through her completely. The inside of the bookstore was dusty and filled with the familiar smell of old pages seeped with time and dried ink. From the back the crisp sound of shuffling book covers could be heard as rather aged keeper of the store seemed to be organizing the volumes. Kina stopped once inside, all her worries seeming to melt away slightly, a small dull smile appeared on her face. She loved books. And not just a little. But...there was a very good reason for that...and she supposed if her friends were really going to ask... Rather than seeming to answer Miyako's question, she looked back at the two in her usual calm way. "Did I ever tell you guys what the question was...? The one I want to ask my cousin when I find him...?" she seemed give pause for a moment then went off at a steady stroll down along one of the shelves of the store, running a finger along the spines of the books as she searched for a particular title. "Ah...here it is." Kina was rather used to libraries and searching shelves. She read throughout most of her free time, after all.

"Here..." she took the book more gently from the shelf then if she'd merely been pulling out any old book, though the smile on her face had fallen into a more blank faced melancholy. "this is it." in her hand was a book, a fairly large one, come to that, that across the cover in large lettering said "Kina's Journey." she let the meaning of this sink in. "This book...it was...written by my father when I was a year old." she held it closer to herself looking distant now. "I never really knew my father...he left mom and I before I was born...but at some point he came back when I was a baby...and knowing me then was enough to get him to write this..." she opened the cover, revealing the words.

In apology, and love, to my dearest child, Kina

Kina blinked at the words, her Maboroshi nature most likely the thing which kept her from reacting more strongly now. "...I understand that he must have had trouble...he...he was a Maboroshi too, you know. We aren't very good with things like Love. It's...harder for us to understand." she ran a finger over the words. "My mother was always too depressed to love me...but I think she loved him." she then seemed to frown. "But...if you really love someone, why would you just leave them like this. This book is beautiful, it's become fairly popular and...I've read it so many times, but I still don't understand why someone who could make this book...could just leave." she again looked mellow, her face blank.

"The only person I think may have loved me...is...my cousin." she shut the book. "He's taken care of me and taught me and..." she seemed to pause leading off. "Alot of people say that he can be scary...but I never saw that side of him. When I came to Oto after my mother died, he looked after me ever since. And he's not the kind of person to do that if he didn't like me..." she sounded very certain. "That's why I accept whatever decisions he feels he has to make to do what he thinks is...right. Because, even if I don't fully understand them, I think that I...that we're really a family." she faded off into silence after her heartfelt admission. She had felt the need to try and convey the confusing emotions welling up inside her. The reason that found it...difficult, to speak out against what was likely one of her cousins plans...

She gave pause now, as though giving them time to say...something....

User Image Urza now follweed along with the other two more for moral support than for actual shopping. She had burned through all of her cash in one sitting, and had turned that cash into beautiful beautiful steel. Urza was sure the other two most likely didn't understand her want for such things and a hunk of metal. But for Urza it was a way of life, so 40 Ryo seemed perfectly good for the price, even if the handwork didn't come near her fathers. Urza looked at stores that they passed, sometimes catching a whiff of something that smelled down right spectacular. Urza wondered what the cuisine would be like in Kiri, but she didn't have long to think about it before the conversation of the trio turned a bit more serious.

Urza looked at Miyako as she pointed out the... Oddness of the two fellows from earlier. Urza had picked up the vibe that Kina didn't want to talk about it, so she had let it go for the most part, but as soon as Miyako brought it up Urza did notice that there had been something... Off about the two. The unnatural way the one girl had moved. Urza looked at Kina, awaiting her answer, she was unprepared for what came next.

The trio had entered an old dusty book store. It was very quite and Urza had to be careful not to knock anything over with her new tool. Kina on the other hand seemed quite at home in the dusty store. She spoke once more about the question she had wanted to ask... Him? Urza remembered back to the first day of class, Kina had said that her goal was to ask "him" a question, though Urza had no clue who "he" was. But as soon as Kina mentioned it she realized she never did say what the question she wanted to ask was. Urza payed close attention to what Kina was saying now.

Urza's friend seemed to flicker in and out of conversation as she grabbed an old book off the shelves. It was entitled Kina's Journey and as Urza soon found out was written by none other than her friends father. It was such an emotional tale. Urza had experienced all sorts of emotion in her life, so to not know love and such must have been terrible. Though Urza supposed if man never knew the grass was green, would he miss the green grass? Still, it left a bit of pain in Urza's heart. Urza didn't say anything and just walked next to Kina giving her a small hug and a smile, without saying a word.

Miyako listened to her story as she spoke. She didn't know the question that she spoke of, but everything was answered in time. Miyako looked around for some books, ones specifically to the puppet arts, but nothing seemed to show itself yet. "I'm sure one day you will find your answer. Maybe that is why he left himself... to figure it out." Urza, who seemed motivated by Kina's story telling, gave her an embrace. Miyako wasn't well known for giving people hugs, so she just stayed back, "Boys can be so difficult sometimes. Thank the heavens there are women in this world..."

She ran her finger past some more books, looking among the titles. Nothing of interest seemed to pop out to her quite yet. "My parents are difficult to understand as well. I... did something that wasn't quite acceptable in their eyes. I never could see the reason why it was so wrong, but I shut myself away from them. They still look at me differently, as if they are waiting for me to change my very way of life. I don't think I ever will..." She trailed off.

Kina was more used to getting hugs now then she had been when she had first arrived in Oto, but the only one's that she ever got these sorts of friendly hugs from where Usa...which was different merely on the grounds that as a snake she didn't have human capacity form warmth and sensation via the skin that a human body granted her, and thus enjoyed hugging everything, and Kimiko, who was just that sort've person. She hadn't really been expecting one from Urza, causing the girl to adapt an innocently surprised look on her face.

At Miyako's remark, it actually almost seemed to cheer the girl up slightly. Getting a small sullen laugh from her. "Heh...Xen isn't like that at all. He always knows exactly what he wants and what to do..." she actually closed her eyes happily, as though speaking of her hero. "He's not really the typical boy...the reason that he left was actually because of a really reckless girl that he feels he has to look after all the time..." she opened her eyes again. She couldn't really hate Kimiko...the girl was far too nice for that. To righteous and good...it would be like hating Urza, but...she supposed on some level she was a little jealous...just a little.

She fell back to being more serious. "My cousin...I might have told you all that he's an A-class Missing Nin. A Criminal of Oto." she took a deep breath. "What not very many people know is that he's also the holder of the Snake Contract...the same that was held by the first Otokage." she avoided their eyes. "Those two earlier...they mastered the Ningen-no-keshin technique...they can take human form. But in reality they're both Snake spirits...the one with the green hair, Mu'se...he's the most dangerous. If he were to set loose in the this city it could disastrous... he could easily level buildings with his true size. I...want to believe that they aren't here to hurt anyone...that Xen sent them here for another reason...but I don't know."

She sighed. "I...guess I didn't want to say anything because...I want to believe in him." it was hard for a Maboroshi to believe...to have faith in something they couldn't touch...but for her part, Kina felt that she desperately wanted to.

User Image Urza released her friend as she looked shocked at the embrace. Urza turned a bit pink from embarrassment and decided to rummage the shelves a bit as she listened to her friends pasts. Urza heard Miayko talk about what a pain boys were. Urza could agree with that full heartedly. All of the men she had met so far where either crazy or trying to kill her, not a good first impression. But Miyako mentioned something else, something she done that was difficult for her parents to understand as well. Urza was a bit curious to find out what that was, but didn't know if it was okay to pry. Urza let it swish around in her brain before deciding to just go for it "What did you do?" Urza asked coyly. She had always been bad at reading situations when it came to high emotional levels, but she assumed it was an innocent enough question.

The next part Kina spoke of concerned Urza a bit. Snake spirits? Human forms? Where those people actually devils from another plain? Urza shook her head. No that sort of thinking didn't apply to this world. There were no angles and devils... Well at least not directly. But snake spirits that could crush a whole town? Urza didn't like the sound of that. 0009 Had been big, but not unmanageable, but something of that size. Well even Urza shuddered to think. "I hope you are right, Kina my friend. Or Maker help us all." Urza looked at her two friends, they both seemed to have such a tough childhood that she felt almost tainted having lived such a normal life for a Knight. "Well worry your heads no more!" Urza saluted the two of them, holding a closed fist over her heart "As long as I'm around I will do all I can to bring happiness and peace! So God Wills Its." Urza gave the two of them a smile, hoping to lighten the mood a little bit.

"Well he doesn't seem all that bad." When she began speaking of the snake contract and how those two were really snakes, she stopped looking for books. "Really?... That's.... awesome... a snake summoning contract..." she mumbled to herself. She didn't even know it, but she had just met two summons, though she knew something was off about them. "You have too much going on to worry. It seems he has his head on straight. I don't think he would harm the people of Oto." Then Urza asked her question. She didn't quite know how to answer it. "I... uh... well if I tell you, it doesn't leave this circle... er... triangle." Do you want to do this? Is it really the smartest thing to do? Bags! I hate talking about myself. Well you have to say something... She waited for each to swear, in one way or another before finishing with the truth. She felt like she could trust them. After all, Kina just told them that her cousin was a missing nin and gave them her life story. If she couldn't place trust in them, how could they her.

"When I was younger... I, uh... found out a little about myself. I mean... I suppose it was always there, just like anyone else, but anyway," she wiped a drop of sweat from her brow, "I found out that girls were just as... interesting as boys. My father... caught me... kissing my best friend...... Rose..." Her heart was pounding. What was worse than telling them, was the fear of being judged, especially since they were all girls. Would she be ostracized, embraced, or given the silent treatment. She never told anyone, besides her parents, and that didn't go over very well. "I tried 'fixing' myself but I'm not entirely sure if I want to..."

((In case the upcoming bout of my humor passes you by, people in the Maboroshi clan contort themselves while they sleep. Like, Yoga style, but always wake up perfectly refreshed and mellow as always. xd Also Kina is confused because Chishio's seduction roll is a nat 50+20. xd She does have hero worship for her big brother figure though, only because she's young. wink Ahem. And now, ON WITH THE SHOW! ))

Kina seemed comforted by Urza's declaration, another small smile making it's way on her face. "Thanks Urza." she said honestly giving her friend a little hug in return before stepping away with her mellow little smile still in place. At Miyako's declaration, Kina didn't really seem all that phased. "Oh, is that all?" she said in a rather understated manner. "That's not really a big deal. Moku-tan (the suffix used for a casual nickname between peers, as well as the actual rest of his name) told me that because of us Maboroshi's really weird sleeping habbits we should just be happy with whoever we should get to sleep next to us, boy or girl...or someone who's really freaky in bed...or something." the words coming from the girl's rather calm innocent face were almost hilarious. "Cousin Xen told him to stop corrupting me with his dirty thoughts." she blinked looking rather at ease now that she'd sorted out her issues, and was not actually back to searching the book shelves.

"If it makes you feel better though Miyako, I think I might actually have a crush on Chishio-senpai..." she then shifted eyes to the left somewhat dully. "And Kyojin-senpai..." she blinked small round pink tinges appearing on her petit face. "And really the only reason I think that is is because he reminds me of my cousin..." she rolled her eyes to the other side. "Which sort've makes it even weirder..." she nodded to herself. "...so yeah." the girl patted Miyako on the shoulder casually, looking rather unaffected. "It's nothing to worry about." she then went back to perusing a book that was aptly titled. "People who make you feel normal and well adjusted by comparison" . One got the impression that the girl would have accepted her friends regardless of what the general consensus for normal was...no matter what might have been perceived as wrong with them. It was very possible she would have had a similar casual reaction had one of them declared their heritage as being part elephant, in contrast to something as comparatively normal as liking the same gender.

Batsu stayed behind on the ship and watched as Tenshi and Shinzu went ahead. Apparently the two forgot that they had criminals on the ship and the possibility of them trying to flee still loomed. He chalked it up to the excitement of being in foreign territory, but hopefully the two would be a bit more careful.

Well, since Batsu was now left to keeping watch he unlatched his bow and watched the pirates every move. The three had a time fighting and he didn't want anything to happen that would cause another fight to break out.

Toshi let the wind slowly die, still occasionally ruffling his hair and sending his clothes askew. He fully let it stop as he gave lunar the last of the milk and split the last of the meat. Then he began to cradle lunar as the cat complied. He tried to scratch it under its chin but it decided to play and bite/claw at Toshi's fingers. He smiled faintly at the cat. Thankful, truly, that it wasn't trying to do real damage. He still felt the slight stings of the marks left on his arms. He smiled as he picked up the cup from the bench where he had left it. Amazed that it was still there. He put the cup into his bag as he sat on the bench in the harbor watching the water. He let the cat circle in his lap as he softly began to get the cat. Lunar purred loudly as it stayed in his lap, content to be petted.

User Image Urza nodded in agreement with Miyako, at least the snakes had the courtesy to no be going around destroying villages willy nilly. Though Urza knew little about summoning contracts, they did sounds a bit ominous. Whenever the word contract was used in conjunction with words that weren't legal jargon it usually spelt out some kind of bad news. Though Urza had learned that this "Chakra" and "Jutsu" weren't nearly the hellspawn that the clerics at The Chatry had made them out to be. Urza's eyes opened and she leaned in a little bit as Miyako revealed her big secret. Urza was very curious about her friends and their lives so she was glad to get this bit of bonding time.

Urza gave a soft smile when Miyako told her story of kissing a girl. It was a rather cute tale and Urza didn't understand why such a thing would be ostracized by her parents. Nor did she understand why Miyako felt like it was something that needed fixing. "The Clerics at The Chantry always told us to love someone for who they were, and not what they were." Urza procceeded to give Miyako a small hug. Urza was just a touchy feely kinda girl when it came to stuff like this. She even... giggled... A bit at Kina's stories. Urza had laughed and chuckled before, but a full on giggle seemed almost humorous coming from the girl decked out in steel. "We weren't given much free time to think about it in The Chantry." Urza shrugged. "Any freetime was usually spent training one body or mind, and the rest of the time was spent in prayer or sleeping." A very tedious lifestyle, but it made Urza who she was, so she wouldn't have traded it for the world.

((At the docks))

((The crew of the ship suddenly can see that the man who rushed off towards the large grand shipping house is heading back, this time with a far more spacious entourage in tow. At the head of the party, surrounded by serveral men who resemble body guards is a rather rotund man with large mustache, and very self-satisfied look about him, a broad smirk across his face.))

The rather wealthy looking man seemed rather pleased with himself as he centered his eyes on captain Yoko, a very certain gleam in his eye as he turns his attention to Shinzu, the nearest of the group to him, and approaches with a rather confident swagger, his guards just behind. "Well, well, well," he man said, holding out his hand in a more western greeting, his fingers covered in various expensive rings. "I must say this IS a very unexpected surprise. I was beginning to think COMPETENT bounty hunters were a thing of the past...low and behold though...it seems I was wrong. I AM glad." he wore his rather broad grin the entire time. "I take it you saw my posting for the bounty and are here to collect eh? Well I shall not keep you in suspense." he snapped his fingers, a man carrying a chest in his arms coming around the guards to set it at Shinzu's feet. "The agreed upon amount on the posters...plus a little extra something for your trouble. 360 ryo in all." he said almost too sweetly.

User Image

"Tcht," Yoko finally broke her silence as she glared hatefully at the man. "Yizo...so how much does stealing away someone's freedom cost these days!" the girl called out hatefully.

Yizo Gioboro looked rather unphased. "Yoko my dear...it's so very good to see you back...you know how I do hate it when my property is misplaced."

User Image

Yukimaru looked livid, bound up like the rest. "You are a liar zam! And a chicken, zam, and also a tiny man with no manliness! The captain does not belong to you zam!"

Yizo merely continued to chuckle. "Please little girl...I do not know what this little stray piece of furniture has told you, but she was sold to me to cover her families debt...according to the official laws of this land, she belongs, to me." he looked back to the ninja. "And as for the criminal Kai...well, he stole from me. And I wish to see him prosecuted by the full extent of the law. The rest of them I don't care about...you can toss them back in the water once you get out to sea if you like."

User Image

"You're VERY BAD MAN!" Flonne stated angrily.

"Ahahahaha, morality. How quaint...and irrelevant. This is business." he smiled at the Ninja. "You may go, once you turn them over to me, Shinobi-san...I expect you've much to do, yes?"

Miyako was relieved to hear that neither of the girls had even the thought about judging her. Even Kina's... different response, had comfort in it. "Thanks. I guess I can just be a bit uneasy about it towards others. You never know how someone else will take it." She looked around at the books once more and decided she wouldn't spend her money here. She could save it up for something fun... like the kyoumei speaker, or maybe a bow... she was still undecided, though she would need the speaker for her jutsu. "Well I think I'm done in here. I think I'll spend as few ryo as I can, unless I find something that really catches my eye."

"I'm sorry I cannot do that, they will be turned into the proper authorities in the Hidden Mist, if the Authorities here have no means to arrest them." Shinzu said, stalwart in his beliefs. "Also I should mention that I take offense to being called a bounty hunter, we are no such thing." Shinzu added, standing his ground between The men and the pirates, his arms crossed over eachother. Tenshi watched as the man threw down a chest filled with ryo. Something didn't seem right about these guys, and Shinzu seemed to pick up on it. He was all about teaching the children a lesson, though he doubted these men would 'correct' them. He gave a sigh, Please not another fight... this is getting ridiculous. He turned to the girls, who each had their own say about the man and placed a finger to his lips to hush them. Speaking like that to him would certainly not be in their favor. He ran his metal hand through his hair. Tenshi decided to remain silent. Shinzu had more seniority than him and was more apt to discuss the situation, however, Tenshi would throw in his two cents when needed. So he simply just stood there, one hand on his hip, the other now resting on the hilt of his sword.
