Every Capoeira school has a different system of colours, but we all use "cordas", which are coloured rope belts, tassled at the tips, wrapped about the waist and fastened at either hip (depending on the school).

Here is our group's system:

The highest non-instructor rank held in our branch of the group (we have another branch in Ontario) is the "Yellow and Light Blue" corda under "Adults". Me and about four other students bear that corda.

In my karate class, the highest rank is an eighth degree black belt held by me, and in aikido there is a different class system. We go by que's and it's backwards starting from five. I also hold the highest rank which is first que and that equals a black belt in any other martial arts. In teakwondo, I'm tied with someone for fifth degree black belt. *breaths* Lots of hard work.

8th dan (degree in english) in karate?? How long have you been studying karate? Sorry, but I find that hard to believe unless you are 60-70 and have been studying all your life.

Also, when you say 'que' do you mean 'kyu'? 1st kyu is the top level for the kyu rankings, but 1st dan is one step above 1st kyu. And when most people say 'black belt' they are reffering to 1st dan.

I was recently tested for 1st dan and yes I did mean 1st kyu, sorry for the misspelling. I've been studying karate sinse I was four along with the other martial arts I take. I think I've learned a lot more because it was a mostly one-on-one teaching dojo.

You Can't be 8th dan in karate at 20 years old. You must be 50 to be an 8th dan. If you need i can scan in a picture of where i got this infromation. It is from a book called The Weaponless Warriors By: Richard Kim. Also what style do you train in?

The highest I've ever trained with is an 8th dan black belt in Aikido that has the thickest wrists I have ever EVER seen. He was a very close friend of my sensei and was a visitor from Japan where he taught in his own dojo. He was another student of Sunamari Sensei.

There are 9 degrees of black belt in Hap Ki Do and my master, Master Ki has achieved 9th degree. Supposedly the creator of Hap Ki Do died at 10th so it's now a sacred level, that is now unattainable.

Thats the same for ITF TKD, the highest you can get is 9th degree. The late founder was 10th

WTF Taekwondo has sorta the same thing, after you die, if your a 9th dan then you can get promoted to a 10th dan.

In Hwa Rang Do, only the Grandmaster can be 10th degree black sash(sashes surpass black belt) But the highest rank for a normal person to reach in one lifetime would be 8th degree black sash.

Greatest Ever. That should be the highest rank in any martial art. Think about how bad a** of a title that would be?

What rank do you hold?
Greatest Ever!

lol.

...I dunno, with a tittle like that it could just begin to be given away like black belts at Mcdojo's. I mean if possible most people would pay for the tittle Greatest Ever!
